Every time I visit the British Museum, I always go to Treasure Canteen "Hunanese" to have a hot dinner to rejuvenate my energy. The chef is a local chef from Hunan, and he understands us spicy lovers very well🥵Every spoonful of chopped pepper is so sour that it hits the soul. Mainly because it tastes so much like home. ··· Tried and tested menu👇 🥢 Cold Jellyfish £9.8 The crispy jellyfish is covered in garlic-flavored red oil, and the spicy and sour sauce is sprinkled with fried peanuts and chopped green onion. It’s so appetizing🤤 🫑Stir-fried pork ribs with green pepper £13.8 One word: dinner! Stir-fried pork cheek with Hunan screw pepper, the oily aroma is mixed with the burnt aroma and spiciness. The sauce is great with rice. 🍖Lamb chops £18.8 Simmer until the bones are soft and glutinous, add cumin and chili powder to remove the mutton, and eat the meat with all the tendons. Show off while it’s hot! As it cools down, it loses its amazing feeling. 🫛Stir-fried green beans £12.8 The wok is full of energy! The tiger skin is fried out of the green beans and then stir-fried. The oil is bright but not greasy, crisp and tender with a hint of burnt aroma. 🍚 Sauerkraut fried rice £6.8 The boss said the secret to moistness is lard residue! Pickled cabbage cubes + chopped eggs + chopped green onion, every grain of rice is covered with oily fragrance, which is very delicious. 🦑Griddle cuttlefish £21.8 If you like spicy and sour food, don’t miss it! Pickled pepper + wild mountain pepper are sour and refreshing, and the cuttlefish is chewy~

As a chef, I've never given and don't like giving negative reviews, but the takeaway food I had really wasn't good at all. The sweet & sour ribs tasted and looked like they had been microwave re-heated from a batch that had been made a few days ago, then some pre-mix sauce dumped on top. The house special fried rice similarly was not good. Again, the meat was "old", looked and tasted like previously cooked some time ago and recently re-,heated and the rice was verging on stodgy. If this dish were only £3-4, I could maybe understand, but £9.10 for food of this quality is more than disappointing. I know it's been hard since COVID and in current economic conditions, but please don't cynically produce food of this very low calibre, at these prices, while passing it off as high quality. Honesty and integrity will always be rewarded.

. . última oportunidad se fue

Turned up just after opening, didn't book but plenty of tables. Waitress explained the app, which is very simple, how to order etc Food arrived quickly, it's best to order the next batch you want as one lot arrives as u can only order 3 dishes at once. Robot delivery is a novelty and works well. All the food we had was nice, fresh and good. I wouldn't say its fine dining but there's plenty of variety. Only real criticism was expensive drinks, and the bathroom with kids changing etc is a disgrace, broken toilet seat, leaking pipes into a bucket. Not good.

What a lovely experience! I booked a table for 10 people on a Monday night for a family birthday celebration. We opted for the all you can eat menu in order to be able to try a few different dishes. The staff were amazing, so helpful, friendly and efficient. The owner was very attentive, checking everything was ok and laughing and joking with us. The food was delicious and plenty of it. We didn't order more as we couldn't even manage the initial food served, for this we were offered boxes to be able to take what was left home, so I now have tonight's meal sorted.....the gift that keeps giving! I would highly recommend The Ruby restaurant and we will definitely be back soon :-)

Phoned the restaurant 4 weeks advance of my booking which was on a bank holiday 21st April I asked if they were open which they replied yes so I made the booking for 5 Two days before the 21st April I called to confirm the booking Their reply was “ the boss as just told us we are not open The bank holiday 21st April I was completely flabbergasted, they have just cancelled our booking 2 days before the bank holiday, they did not have the decency to call us. When I confronted them their excuse was they could not get any staff to work on the bank holiday. They are part of the service industry who usually work on our days off. My thoughts are the service is so low (never been great but the food was ok) is that they did not have enough bookings to open and decided to stay closed which they never do on a bank holiday. So it looks like Pagoda have lost some more customers due to their unsatisfactory customer service.

Having read other reviews was expecting something a bit special, instead experienced a culinary disaster. Ordered the seaweed salad, crispy fried chicken and king prawns and then pork wonton in hot broth. The seaweed was close to inedible, slimy and covered in raw garlic. Only one taste and that was the garlic, we left it after a couple of bites, even the Chinese lady sitting next to us could only manage a mouthful. The fried food was poor, the batter dominated, and left the prawns dry. The wontons were passable but the broth had no flavour and seasoning, just an insipid liquid with chopped spring onions/chives. Best advice keep on walking, plenty of much better restaurants in Chinatown.
