Wood Green Chinese Restaurant in Haringey

Restaurant is always empty. Precovid very busy daily, quality was very good. Quality does not justify the cost now. Barbecue pork...tough and inedible. Crispy pork was all fat, any meat was tough. Noodles.....greasy. Sauce is watery and not tasty. So sad.

The food is so delicious, unfortunately the place looks dirty, dark, messy, pile of boxes in the corner, also I don't like it is cash only if you go without cash you need to find a cash point not far happily🫣 But I love the food the taste is incredible 😋

Absolutely nothing there is good! I asked a rice with pork, prawns and beef, but really it is just rice with no more of 20 grams of protein. The service is terrible and the restaurant is dirty and messy. Definitely I don’t recommend it!!

Haven’t been this restaurant in a while so decided to treat myself before going cinema. The crispy and bbq pork combo is to die for, pork was tender and succulent and the pork crackling was on point. The prices have gone up in the last few years but it was worth it. £14.50 for the pork with rice and a coke. Yummy 😋

Not bad, a very acceptable local Chinese takeaway. Beancurd with mixed vegetable with special fried rice was very good.

This is my go to Chinese take away and I live in winchmore hill. The crispy pork belly is 10/10.

18 quid for 3 different meats. Char siu was bland and dry, roast duck was okay though gamey, roast pork was not bad. Soup was wonderful.

Ribs extra dry. I was chewing and chewing took it out. My mouth put it at the side of the plate. I bought the rest home and put in sauce just to make it a bit more moist. £20 fried rice needed to fry some more very plane big bits of chicken,What was dry? Not impressed. Waste of money, I did let them know I showed them the piece of meat while I was chewing on. The man just looked as if he can't speak English but he was okay when I first came in. He could speak it then. I didn't ask for my money back. I just made sure they can see how , I was chewing and could not swallow that, I made it moist for my dog to eat.

Ordered take away roast duck and pork and this is the most bland and unfresh food I have ever ordered. Also got home to find two pots of soup filled with mould. Absolutely disgusting. Avoid this place if you want good Chinese food prepared under good hygiene.

I came here for a family meal today and I was absolutely disgusted with the food and service that we received. Firstly they didn’t help us arrange the tables to fit the large seating. They then handed us a pen and paper to write our own orders. The food was cheap, nasty and overpriced for what it is. The spring rolls were definitely frozen and not fresh. The noodles were bland, dry and tasted of dishwasher soap. When I asked for another cup as I wanted a fresh cup o was told they charge by the cup. The decor and atmosphere is old and run down, I have no idea how this place is even open. Not to mention if you would like to take away the food you bought (not that you would want to) they charge you 20p for a takeaway box and 10p for a sheet of tissue. This place is so bad it’s laughable. Would never ever waste my money when there are lovely local Asian restaurants such as Oitas or Four seasons further down the road.

Popped in here on Valentines day, 💕 it was extremely busy. It was a lovely takeaway after a hard day's work.

Hard to find such an amazing place. Huge verity of dishes, good portions, very very tasty. I will always go back when in area.

Possibly the worst takeway I've ever had. Special fried rice was tasteless and strangely white, deep fried prawn balls were spongy with a bizarre sweet and sour (mostly sugar) sauce. Bland dumplings. Choking on my own rage here.

Crispy pork and penang char kwae taew is the best for all the time.

Paid £2 extra for fried rice with my meal. They removed half the chicken and replaced it with rice. Scum

Absolutely disgusting, virtually inedible cold flavourless slop that comes in microscopic portions that wouldn't fill up a budgie on a diet. I was charged £13 for the worst excuse for food I've ever tried to endure, I'll never go back to this so called restaurant again!

This restaurant used to be fabulous for food, service and ambiance. Unfortunately this is not the same today. Staff un interested, table are filthy, with the cold snappy weather not heating switched on making your eating experience horrendous and uncomfortable while there. Asked to switch heating on, lady couldn’t care less!! Worst of all this restaurant operate cash only.. reasons for this?? Well u choose the unswer

Only cash payment is accepted, the place is very old and the ceiling is leaking. The food is mediocre. I wasn't happy.

Recent online delivery nightmare. £30 meal arrived full of raw chicken. Son instantly reacted and was sick. I have just called the restaurant, staff member told me they could not help - but that raw chicken is a ‘common problem’ I asked to speak to the manager - was not in apparently. They repeatedly refused to give me the managers name - then hung up.

Food taste good, down side they only take cash but the place is some what old abit dull inside

I have ordered food in the past.. However! On Saturday, I ordered my usual Salt and Pepper Squid.. which is usually tasty. This time it was DISAPPOINTING. More batter than spicy squid. And the Batter was of a poor quality. This is the first time that this has. I hope it is a one off.

The food here is hit & miss. Sometimes it's ok and other times it's disappointing. We noticed when we come in a group and everyone orders a different dish to try, then we find alot of bland dishes with tough chewy meats and in some cases you have to hunt for the meat in the dish. It's reasonably price, clean toilet, waiters expressionless but not rude, although it can come across as rude to non Chinese. We'll probably won't come back in a hurry but there aren't many informal Chinese restaurants in local area

Avoid this place. Disgusting old and food. I got burned noodles and my husband some old chicken. Restaurant is very dirty you can literally stick to the table. Unfriendly staff. Horrible experience

The food is excellent and its cash only Atmosphere and Service is out of date needs updating But all this is ignorance because of the taste and prices of the food I often go there because of these two reasons I will recommend to those who loves Chinese food and are short of money Their food portion are big enough for two persons

Been going here for almost a decade and have stuck with the same dishes every time. Roast Duck and Crispy Pork are as tasty as you'd get down Chinatown! Great portion sizes and worth every penny. Very quick service and a hassle free experience every time.

This place is unacceptable! The food is flavourless, we ordered special fried rice sweet and sour chicken and prawn toast. The toast was burnt, special fried rice was white no flavour one sprinkle of pork if you saw the shrivelled piece of chicken if it was even that. They put the rice and sweet and sour chicken in the same container. Four slice of prawn toast 7 quid fried rice 8 quid. No way will I ever spend a pence in here again. Disgusting food. DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY HERE.

Terrible position size for the value, sweet source pork is just batter no pork, beef portion size its terrible barely 100g or 12 small pound size coin pieces. Definitely would not recommend

So I’ve been ordering from this restaurant for the past year and have had more up days then down. On a few occasion my noodles were abit too greasy but other than that I can’t complain. What I usually get is the egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, mee goreng noodles and a side of prawn toast which is just awesome!

I visited here for the first time 20 plus years ago and never went back until today. We would never waste our time and money in this restaurant again. Taste less and expensive. I will stick to the Chinese take away I’ve used for past 26 years. Slightly further away but the food is worth the money

Not impressed for a second time, just opened take out which I have ordered on way back home I understand it was closing time but not even half a container of prawn satay and chicken cashew.Not impressed!

Excellent food for a chill night at home - the food is very affordable and extremely flavourful. The staff were friendly although I was a take away customer. There is a wide menu of items to choose from. The only catch is they only accept cash, but it is definitely worth the money. Do not be thrown off by the decorations, the ambience is not what you would see in Chinese shops based in central London but the food is good !

Best chinese around the area if your in the area dont look anywhere else for food this is the spot food is 10/10 fresh well seasoned and tasty also they bring out the food very quickly your lucky if you find a table becuase its always packed in there becuase the food is really good!!!

Had a takeaway sweet and sour chicken no taste of chicken raw veg rice not cooked properly. Used to be good.had noodles with prawns only about 2 prawns rest filled with dry noodles. Not good .or chow main stuck in my throat was so undercooked.dry.

The owners are Malaysian so get some Ipoh Ho Fun

Some of the food are good, tasty. But some are not. Tables are a bit dirty, not cleaned properly.

I bought fried rice today and I am disappointed. Not only was the fried rice plain it was also a tiny portion for £7 pounds. I don't think I will be returning.

It is always a really good meal when we come here. The roast duck is great, noodles are tasty. Veg dishes are perfectly cooked. The soups are very good. Portions are a good size.

Honestly the best Chinese place in the area. Affordable prices and delicious food. Everything on the menu doesn't disappoint. I would recommend the Crispy pork and boiled rice, prawnballs, and the big bowl soup - wonton hofun. All delicious. Add the chilli oil to the food - amazing. Not a long wait for the food to come out either and staff are attentive.

Really good local Chinese, we had prawns with ginger and spring onion, chicken with cashew nuts and dumplings. Everything was fresh and tasty, good rice, the batter on the prawns was light and crispy. Nice to find a good Chinese takeaway.

I hVe been ordering take away via Just eat since nearly a year and i never get bored of the super juicy roasted meat with fried rice. I previously tried the duck but it was not for me, too many bones. But the combo BBQ pork with Crispy pork got me hooked! I am now a regular and their single portion lasts me for leftovers for later... super yummy.. It is not easy to find good roasted meats.. i won't let go of this restaurant!

The Ma po tofu was really disappointing. It was unrecognisable by looks and taste. I asked the waitress "Is this Ma po Tofu" thinking I was served the wrong dish by mistake. The waitress said "This is Ma po tofu, it's just Cantonese style" I have been to mainland China and Hong Kong, Guangzhou and eaten both styles - this was NOT traditional at all. The taste was really weak, they put random frozen and dried vegetables inside and a small amount of meat. I brought it back to the counter and said "This was really disappointing" the waitress just walked away and did not say anything. If anybody would like traditional ma po tofu and other CHINESE dishes I highly recommend TASTE OF CHONGQING next to Russell Square, London. Also, the wait staff there are really lovely!

Great food and not too expensive.

I always get good delicious Chinese food there. Malaysian dishes not authentic enough but it's local to my place to satisfy cravings. It's my local go-to Chinese takeaway or eat in place.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Ordered the mixed meat rice, good sized portion and tasty too, roast duck, crispy pork, char siu and Chinese cabbage. They also do delivery and have a disabled toilet. Would visit again.

MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!! MAGGOT IN FOOD!!!!!! I used to eat at this Chinese often in the early 2000s over the years the customer service as well as the food has gone down down hill majorly so i stop going. Today i ordered food for take away after a long time. After coming home eating a few bites I FOUND A HUGE MAGGOT IN MY FOOD. Which seems to be a bot fly maggot. I called to express my concerns and all they did was offer to make me more food like anyone would accept that after such trauma. I asked for my money back and the person said there was no one to deal with that in after just being in there 20 mins prior. i proceed to to expressed my disappointment and the man put down the phone. You always here of these stories and never think it would happen to you. I feel sick to my stomach. I will be reporting them to the local authority. Im honestly still sickened and in shock

Fried rice was nice. Crispy Duck was absolutely delicious 😋 Sweet and Sour chicken was tasty.

Ordered eat in at this restaurant with my friend. The food was served cold. I asked the waitress why the food was so cold she said it was coming one at a time. Spent almost fifty pounds worth of food. The guy that was serving said he did not know the name of the manager. Witnessed other customers who was chinese desent served hot food. Very tasty food but prejudised to black customers. Never going there again. Food standards need to investigate why food is not served at 63 degrees or above even if it may be pre cooked! my friend asked for his food to be reheated, took ages to come back and still was not 63 degrees!

Probabily not the perfect restaurant it once was, but no doubt is stil the nicest Chinese restaurant in North London.

This place serves one of the best toasted (crispy) seafood noodles I’ve had. First came here about 20+ years ago. It’s obviously not high end white cloth napkins type restaurant but it’s a really really good Chinese restaurant with very decent food,

Decent Chinese take out! 🐉🥡🥠 Old school 90's style - so delicious but very sweet, sexy, gooey, greasy 😬 We had flavourful crispy duck, generous piles of char sui pork and delightfully delecate wonton soups. We ordered through 'Just Eat' and the driver abandoned the order so the restaurant let us pick it up for free! Very kind 🙏 It's a treat for sure but I really enjoyed it! Might have to pop in to check it out in person. Thanks guys!

Dangerous and disgusting food! The quality of the food they serve is the poorest quality. This order was via Deliveroo and first of all you can see how burnt the food is. The sheer ordacity to give paying customers burn food is beyond a disgrace. I had a similar experience before where I ordered the crispy chilli beef. They had clearly run of this and they tried to mix it with some other sweet and sour dish like I wouldn’t notice. Rather than refund me and say they haven’t got the dish they would rather try and rip me Off with some poor concoction. Anyway back to this current order with the burnt food. my husband tried it to see if it waa eatable but as he swallowed something sharp Cut the back on his throat. as you can imagine this is worrying for a number of reasons and I will be reporting this to the food standards agency. Please avoid. We have no idea what he may have swallowed or what risk it might pose to his health. A night in with a takeaway has turned into a disaster! Appalling

My experiences are good I have been in that restaurant for many years.I still loved the food there,this place are always packed with a mixed of people.

The food was SALTY, SALTY,SALTY, all other flavours were lacking. It left an awful taste in my mouth and sadly left me feeling quite ill a few hours later. It is not worth the price as the quality of the food is rubbish. My local Chinese takeout is much nicer. I will not EVER go back!!!!!!!!!

Generous portions and delicious everytime

I'm sad about this, as this restaurant is run by the loveliest people. For years, I've been getting a Friday night takeaway for the family, or stopping by for a bowl of soup when I have had a winter cold. Lately, say over the past year or two, it has gone into steep decline. Maybe it's a supply issue re Covid? I don't know. What I do know is the quality of food is not what it was - the salt and pepper squid used to be so light, like a tempura, but is now covered in a heavy layer of greasy batter. The beef used looks and tastes like scraps of offcuts, really not very nice. The crispy pork I crave seems to be 'sold out' whenever I try to order it. They have started charging for prawn crackers! Dining in, the plastic cutlery and low grade napkins used to be a small concession to the excellent food. Alas now, it seems to be a perfect match.

Always a pleasure coming here small and local. The staff are polite. Food comes out quickly. Prices are great. Never had a problem getting a table. Well worth the experience. I recommend this hidden gem to all.

Ordered around 20 times from these guys now, every single meal, every single item has been excellent. Such fresh ingredients, and never overcooked. Kung Po King Prawns with extra chilli is my fav. Give them a go

Very nice, I especially like the quick service, done by trained empolyees and ladies at the cash service always willing to help people, even if with a 4th helping, The Food is high quality the best in woodgreen.

Shabby chic meets oriental tradition. Small and cosy but the menu more than makes up for the lack of trendy decor. Try their Big Soup for £3.30 you won't be disappointed. Their pork dumplings are divine and if you can't finish the very generous portions they'll pack it in a doggy bag to take away.

Absolutely love this place. My husband and I always get the Prawns with Spices and the Crispy Roast Pork. The ladies at the counter are always so lovely, and we've always had good food here. 👌

Best Chinese takeaway I have ever had!

I have been getting my takeaways for in for many years now and I am not local. I feel that I had to write a review given that a few of their customers had complained about the dishes they have ordered. For example, one of them complained that their crispy pork is not lean enough!! Come on, crispy pork is best with about a third of fat on it. Why did those customer not bring back the order for a refund? Your guess will be as good as mine! Yes, I do appreciate that there will be a few who are very particular about their food, please remember that any restaurant will have to prepare and serve to the general public. I will still be getting my takeaways from them and the staff are very polite, courteous & friendly. I will still be going there for my takeaways!!!

Food wasn't too bad. Delivery prompt. What i didn't like was you could add rice to a main for £1, unfortunately when it turns up they put the rice in the main container reducing the amount of main you receive. Either there is something i am not understanding or it's a bit cheeky from this takeaway.

I had prawn green curry and husband had beef red curry with egg fried rice. Curry was tasty but had very little heat. The rice was fluffy and well cooked. Prawn crackers were cooked fresh, rather than batch cooked at the start of the evening. Won't set the world on fire, but I would eat there again. Good basic tasty food.

There back under new management staff are friendlier, the crispy pork, chars siu pork and duck is lovely, also there crispy salted squid, sweet and sour pork hongkong style is lush, reminds me of the old place it was once before 10yrs ago, now they also accept card payment which is an advantage.. Just there satay chicken on boiled rice isnt what it taste like before it missing the sweetness.. Other than that a top 4 stars

Visited this restaurant for the first time even though I’ve been living in Wood Green for 4 years! The food was excellent, it came out quick and piping hot. I had the crispy/bbq pork which was so yummy and my daughter had beef in black bean sauce. For appetisers we had veg spring rolls and king prawn balls. So glad this is a local restaurant, now I know I’ll be getting my Chinese from here regularly on Friday nights.

4/10 Spent £30 on a below average meal. Chicken chow mein was 🤮 Shredded Beef was very average. Onions are massive, too many chilli'. Just rushed dish overall. Ordered Crackers that didn't arrive, spending £30 you should receive the crackers for free. Won't be using again sadly.

Looking for authentic Chinese food outside of Chinatown can be a mission. An unassuming restaurant that dishes up excellent Chinese and some Malaysian food that takes me home. The roast duck is truly second to none.

Best Chinese food in Wood Green. Pork dumplings and the schezuan beef were splendid. My Chinese ting liked it too, even better!
