Wood Green Chinese Restaurant in Haringey

This restaurant used to be fabulous for food, service and ambiance. Unfortunately this is not the same today. Staff un interested, table are filthy, with the cold snappy weather not heating switched on making your eating experience horrendous and uncomfortable while there. Asked to switch heating on, lady couldn’t care less!! Worst of all this restaurant operate cash only.. reasons for this?? Well u choose the unswer

This place is unacceptable! The food is flavourless, we ordered special fried rice sweet and sour chicken and prawn toast. The toast was burnt, special fried rice was white no flavour one sprinkle of pork if you saw the shrivelled piece of chicken if it was even that. They put the rice and sweet and sour chicken in the same container. Four slice of prawn toast 7 quid fried rice 8 quid. No way will I ever spend a pence in here again. Disgusting food. DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY HERE.

Awful place I ordered and my food never arrived I never got my money back if you don’t want to be scammed don’t order here!

The food was SALTY, SALTY,SALTY, all other flavours were lacking. It left an awful taste in my mouth and sadly left me feeling quite ill a few hours later. It is not worth the price as the quality of the food is rubbish. My local Chinese takeout is much nicer. I will not EVER go back!!!!!!!!!

I'm sad about this, as this restaurant is run by the loveliest people. For years, I've been getting a Friday night takeaway for the family, or stopping by for a bowl of soup when I have had a winter cold. Lately, say over the past year or two, it has gone into steep decline. Maybe it's a supply issue re Covid? I don't know. What I do know is the quality of food is not what it was - the salt and pepper squid used to be so light, like a tempura, but is now covered in a heavy layer of greasy batter. The beef used looks and tastes like scraps of offcuts, really not very nice. The crispy pork I crave seems to be 'sold out' whenever I try to order it. They have started charging for prawn crackers! Dining in, the plastic cutlery and low grade napkins used to be a small concession to the excellent food. Alas now, it seems to be a perfect match.

I had prawn green curry and husband had beef red curry with egg fried rice. Curry was tasty but had very little heat. The rice was fluffy and well cooked. Prawn crackers were cooked fresh, rather than batch cooked at the start of the evening. Won't set the world on fire, but I would eat there again. Good basic tasty food.

Visited this restaurant for the first time even though I’ve been living in Wood Green for 4 years! The food was excellent, it came out quick and piping hot. I had the crispy/bbq pork which was so yummy and my daughter had beef in black bean sauce. For appetisers we had veg spring rolls and king prawn balls. So glad this is a local restaurant, now I know I’ll be getting my Chinese from here regularly on Friday nights.

Very poor meal. Tamarind prawns were battered and cooked in old oil with a sauce so sweet it made my teeth on edge. No tamarind taste at all and rice that had obviously stood around a while. If we had not paid for our meal upfront would have returned it. Table and surroundings also not particularly clean. Will not be returning.

This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurant in the area however in the last few years it has really went down hill. After they tried opening more space upstairs they seem to have lost their way. Would appear they have changed the chefs as food tastes no where near a good. I keep going back hoping it may improve but have pretty much given up on it now. I'm not the only one several friend have said the same and it's obvious when you look in as a once busy bustling restaurant now quiet. No idea why they have those flat bottomed wooden seats they are incredibly uncomfortable. Can't understand why they dont see that.

No nonsense all you cam eat chinise and Indian . Food is rack and stacked but all good. The Thia is superhot but tastes ok.i would go again. 15.99 all in without drinks

This Chinese restaurant is all about the food. You order at the counter and pay cash, and they bring the food out when ready. It's a little like the style of roadside restaurant you get in Malaysia and Singapore. The portions are huge, and the food is really good. It's one of the very few authentic Chinese I have found in London. The Chinese BBQ pork is the best I've had outside of Chinatown (to be honest, it's probably better!) and the ho fun noodles are just like my Malay Chinese mother used to make! The prices are very reasonable as well. Come here for the authentic food, but expect no frills service.

Been going since the place opened. Roast meat and meat with spices and salt never fails to satisfy. They also do those one dish meals for about 7:50. 8/10 would recommend.

I must have been here 10 times before and can't fault it. The food is cheap and the portions are always large. Honestly can't beat it for flavour and value for money. Would recommend to anyone!

Great food that is always tasty and fresh. Excellent value with hearty portions with an excellent choice for vegetarians. I have been coming here for years, as do many Chinese people which is always the best indication. I had a salt and spicy tofu with ho fun two days ago and I am going back again tonight for the same! Delicious.

Best chinese restaurant of the woodgreen and london I thing. 5 £ one full plate chow main. If you finish :)

I've been visiting this place for many years. It hasn't changed a bit. And I don't really want it to change. The food was always excellent (you know it's good when you see a lot of Chinese people dining here) and good value for money....

I was doing jury duty in the area and visited for lunch. I ordered a large bowl of sea food soup which was priced £7.50. I now understand why they make you pay upfront as I left without eating it and for the first time...

not enough healthy variety , some of the meat tasted as if cooked days before. Price is ok but guess thats what you get. Have to improve to more like JRC standard

This is a small restaurant on the high street at Wood Green. The staff were nice and let us know to order at the counter. It was a little surprising to pay upfront, but not a problem. The food came quite quickly, and was tasty...

This is a little gem , cheap cheerful & good food , clean central , try the 3 meats & rice £7 & it's to much for 1 person , so take the rest away & have it later
