The Hot Pantry is the perfect place for fresh comfort food. Their Dragon Pies and Custard slices are to die for! Good prices compared to a lot of bakeries too.

Loads of vegan and vegetarian foods 😋 Food tastes nice and warm enough. Good place for gathering.

Your afternoon tea was bought for us as a gift. We booked a table one month ago for 3pm on the 6th February 2020. Having made a special journey into Cardiff, we arrived at 2.45pm only to be told that there was no evidence of our booking on your system. After much deliberation with the chef, the lady on reception was able to squeeze us in. After our table was prepared, we were shown to a dark and cold dining room. We were the only diners. The lady was very helpful and we were able to choose sandwiches from a small selection. They were freshly prepared albeit only three fingers each. The tea was fine, but the small scones were not home-made (disappointingly) and the cream was squirty and not as advertised in one of your previous review replies as being clotted cream. We asked about this and were told that clotted is not an option. So we made do with butter. The three small (and we mean small) pieces of cake were dry and bore no resemblance to those advertised on your website. We left most of them. All in all, the worst afternoon tea experience that we have ever encountered. Atmosphere was poor and would have preferred sitting in the warm lounge area.

I spent New Year's Eve at Robin Hood, and it was a wonderful experience! The stout beer they have is exceptional—I highly recommend it! The place was packed that night, but it was totally understandable since it was New Year's Eve. Despite the rush to serve everyone, the staff remained incredibly polite. I’ll definitely be back!

All parents of young children should avoid this place like the plague unless they like to be treated poorly. Was in the adjacent play park with my wife and two kids, one of which is a baby. The baby got hungry so I took her bottle and formula to this cafe to ask for 90mls boiling water so I could make the bottle. The older man serving (who I believe was the owner/manager) was very begrudging when I politely asked for some hot water, asking if that was "all I was getting". He then proceeded to say "that's 50p" in a highly aggressive manner. I thought this was a bit out of order as most places have never had issue and given it freely but I was happy to pay - after all, he was using water/electric for it and it is a business at the end of the day. I simply said ok, paid and moved to the side away from the payment window to make the bottle up. When making the bottle, the man then proceeded to lean out of the kiosk and say "This isn't a laboratory, go do that somewhere else". I'd had enough at this point and asked what his problem was, I'd paid without complaint which I've never done before and made no mess as all the powder was in the bottle already. The owner/manager then proceeded to swear rudely at me, telling me I was ungrateful and to get away from his kiosk. I left at this point as I was appalled by his disgusting behaviour. Whether manager or owner, whoever this man was direly needs some training in customer service. The poor staff behind him looked very uncomfortable, and I don't blame them, he clearly has no idea of appropriate behaviour towards clients. We were going to return for food/drinks after our other child was finished at the park, so he lost a decent chunk of business. We will never come back here now. Given all the recent negative reviews about awful food, he's probably done us a favour... Strongly AVOID.

An amazing place, rooms are large, spacious, bright, cosy with an updated bathroom, and ours had a great shower. We had the front bedroom over the bar, the view was great, no noise, which we thought may be a problem being over the bar, but no. We were shattered, so we had an early night, even though we slept well as the bed was mega comfortable. So, THE BREAKFAST!!! There is a choice of 3 Irish breakfast as well as many others. Wow, very tasty, quality ingredients and cooked well. I have a severe chilli allergy, and the lady was amazing with the information given and to the kitchen. The staff are outstanding, we can not fault them at all. This place is a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the castle, centre and shops. A great place for location, shops, food, park, well everything really. I would very highly recommend this place if you want quality, peace and quiet, close to centre, relaxing, great food and staff but more so to feel that the design of the place was meant just for you. I can't say more than that. We had an amazing time and would defo use this place again. It's a shame we didn't book for longer.
