Amazing food, loads of things to try.

Lovely food and really friendly staff. You get blankets and hot water bottles on arrival as it is in an outdoor seating area. There is a really unique range of foods available, and the tapas style means you can try a fair few😊

Really excellent food as always. Tried most of the dishes and most were excellent. The hispi cabbage is a must try, but we enjoyed everything. Only disappointment for us on the night was that some of the cocktails were unavailable.

Food was mostly good, really enjoyed the steak, didn’t enjoy the swede. Service was friendly but slow. Took 30 mins for us to order our food. We were ready to order food at the same time as our drinks but you could tell they were trying to slow us down as they only had one waitress covering all the tables. You do have to sit outside which is nice to an extent, but when it’s 1 degree it’s hard not to notice.

The food was great, very unique and tasty but the portion is a little small in terms of the price. Also, there is no heating and all sits are outdoor. It was quite cool.

Was lucky enough to be a guest at a wedding here and could not believe how wonderful everything was. Such a beautiful setting, attentive friendly and all round brilliant staff, not to mention the food!! Every dish that came out looked amazing and tasted even better. Intentionally ruined my wife's food because her family were being critical of the limited menu. They were obviously out of line, but it's extraordinarily unprofessional the way the service staff responded to the situation. Food came out burned and has given my wife stomach trouble all day, honestly I wonder if they didn't spike the food with laxatives. Horrible way to treat a customer, especially since my wife had done nothing wrong

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, good service - I didn't even take any photos as was too busy eating. Only slight shame is that the outside area is right next to a busy road but they have got screens and the such up. Highly recommended!

Great food and cocktails. Baked white chocolate ice cream dessert and baked potato’s with aioli were unexpected highlights. Will definitely go back if I find myself in Cardiff again

Amazing food! Wonderful atmosphere! Incredible staff!

Each dish was better than the last. The amuse bouche of fried oyster mushrooms through to the flank steak and the pork (esp the fried parcel of pork belly, oh my goodness !). Loved the cabbage dish too. Service was spot on and it’s such a romantic setting.

Cater well for GF requirements. Setting us unusual and food is unorthodox, but REALLY very good. Excellent for a quick pit-stop or for more considered meal, but defiantly not what you would consider formal.

Oh my how lucky we were to dine here whilst in town. Such a nice theme, great staff, a truly well done menu, and a lovely venue all in one. The Al fresco dining experience even in September with some blankets to keep you cozy is something that the UK in general is missing and reason enough to make the visit. The menu and food is both well themed "touched by fire" and so well delivered on. My partner was taken with the chicken wings and is insisting that I learn to make something similar. Whilst it was the spring roll with some really fun pickled kohlrabi that really caught my attention. If you get the chance to dine out in Cardiff and you like food, this is the spot.

Great venue, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We did not have to wait long for the food and it was great quality, the food was delicious, personally there were too many dishes that had a strong charcoal taste but otherwise really good. Would recommend, it is a unique experience that you have to try, like nothing else in Cardiff !

Visiting family from London, came to Cardiff for the day...this place is a very welcome condition and not as busy as it should be! Food was incredible, setting equally nice and very well priced. Clear that a lot of thought and care goes into the food. The waitress who served us was a little stand off-ish but that's cool. Will definitely come back and highly recommend to those visiting.

Loved it. Booked in for dinner by myself and was shown to my table in the cute gardens. The staff are lovely and passionate about the dishes. Everything I ate tasted delicious as was the rosé wine I had. It’s a unique experience for sure. I would definitely come back

Amazing food! The baked potato with garlic aoili and fried chicken were particularly nice. Loved the setting. The staff were really lovely as well. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend the homemade pink lemonade!

The food at Kindle was really wonderful. Exciting and different, we ordered most of the menu and every dish was a hit. Both wine and cocktails were also really great. Service could have been a little more attentive, it was quite tricky to catch the staff's eye if you needed something.

Enjoyed a superb afternoon at Kindle. Received a very warm welcome and shown to a table. Service was prompt and pleasant. Food was outstanding and very filling. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited for a birthday with family on a Sunday afternoon. Food was excellent, we had the famous potatoes, steak, pork chop and some side dishes. Although listed as small plates, portions were decent size, although we would have been better to order a few dishes then ordering more as needed rather than all at once up front. Nice and secluded location, great service, a bit strange not having napkins.

We had an amazing dinner at Kindle! The food was gorgeous and the staff were so friendly and considerate - they accommodated dietary requirements and made adjustments to dishes so no one missed out. Only thing I’d say, they serve small plates and it was recommended 2-4 plates each but the portions are big, so we over ordered! (Hate to waste amazing food!)

The potatoes are worth a trip back to Cardiff. Small, relaxed outside dining. Plates are small and food is excellent.

This restaurant is fabulous. Food fantastic, staff amazing, dog friendly and great vegan and vegetarian options. Lovely surroundings, very peaceful and chilled out and great background music

What a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Expect a laidback al fresco dining experience. An ever-changing selection of small plates cooked over fire and an excellent choice of natural wines by the glass.

Food was delicious. A wide variety of small plates and they all tasted amazing. Balance of view and meat dishes. Service was quick and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The outside setting is beautiful on a summers day. Would highly recommend this place.

They do good things here in there back garden which Michelin skills and fantastic service. The small plates were fabulous. We ate well and it was all very tasty. My only regret is I that I am only visiting so can’t eat here again for a while. Loved the wines too. They obviously take a lot of care with the cooking. Each little dish was exquisite.

What a refreshing place to eat. It’s a bit like Michelin stars under the stars. I had a delightful and delicious meal here tonight. We ordered some small plates and shared. The potato spring roll reminded me of an masala dosa but better and lighter. The date and tamarind chutney and curried lentils were divine with the pickled kohl rabi. Beautiful fried chicken with charred black asparagus was a treat. Everything was first class. We even had puddings. Excellent puddings. Do leave room for the puddings. I came away feeling as if I had had a good meal and not overfaced which was nice. The food was inventive and their open fire cooking shone through. The wines are as innovative as the food. My first experience of Orange wine. The staff were helpful and charming. They got the service just right. My only complaint is that I am just visiting Cardiff for the weekend. I would eat here regularly if I was local. I particularly liked the fact that they have a sustainable outlook. They prove this isn’t just the domain of the vegans..

WOW! I'd heard great things about Kindle but this was my first visit and it certainly won't be my last. Everything about it was stunning. The service was outstanding as was the ambience and the setting. As for the food... I'm still drooling thinking about it. Every dish made us want to lick the plate clean. We ordered five small plates of veggie food to share. Every single one was divine. I can't wait to come back again. Hats off to all of you! 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️

If you like outdoor eat this is a lovely place. It is pricey tho. It is the former gate keepers house so quite quirky.food was tasty and the staff very friendly.

Fantastic place! Blown away by such delicious & uniquely prepared food. Every dish had obviously been specifically thought through and tasted amazing. The weather was beautiful, so we were all outside in the glorious sunshine, it was as if Heston Blumenthal was arranging the perfect fusion of BBQ meets tapas.

Les serveurs semblent heureux d’y travailler, la musique d’ambiance est au juste niveau… Belle ambiance. A noter que l’ensemble des places sont soit dehors soit dans une charmante cabane (pour les plus frileux ils proposent des plaids). Dans l’assiette, une cuisine méditerranéenne responsable et innovante. On a adoré 😋

We sat outside in the sun, and had a very attentive waiter. The food was absolutely lovely, with a good variety. We had a bottle of organic wine, and delicious bubbly. Was very good value for money also.

Very nice experience, great food and great staff. All the dishes were lovely, we had 5 main dishes and the bread and olives as a mini starter which was about the right amount. We did find it got a little cold outside as we were in the shade and there aren’t any external heaters, but there isn’t the owners can do about that. Well worth a visit, something a little different

Absolutely fabulous food and service . Such interesting dishes, amazing flavours . Literally one of the best meals I’ve had in years . Don’t be put off if it’s cold either , they provide you with very snuggly blankets and hot water bottles . I’m someone who feels the cold and I was toasty . The wines were fabulous and great value . The price of the whole meal including 3 glasses of wine , a larger and food was around £55 for two people. Incredible value. Can’t rave about this place enough !!! My fussy 15 year old son also said it was the best food he’d ever had . The baked potatoes were delicious , took the humble potato to a new level . Don’t wait for the warm weather to experience this amazing gem .

This was my third visit to the restaurant. In fact -as my wife said- I had talked it up so much she wondered (this was her first visit) whether it could have lived up to the hype I’d given it! Kindle Did not disappoint us on a cold March evening. We arrived and were given hot water bottles and blankets. We sat in their barn style room. We had almost everything on the menu… it was all really delicious. We particularly liked the cabbage, carrots, and noted that there was fish and a steak too on the menu, although we didn’t have those. We had three interesting wines plus a dessert. Total cost for five plates, dessert, 4 glasses of wine, and a larger than just over £50! Very impressive.

Amazing food, our waiter Tom was lovely talking us through the menu and wines and was happy to answer all our questions about the dishes when they came out and we hadn't listened when he'd explained in the first place, must eat here in cardiff

So, my brother and I were strolling by on match day and saw an empty table out front. Seemed like a sign, so we popped in and selected a few plates. We thought the steak would be the star, and it was amazing, but the cauliflower arancini came out and stole the show. It was the best cauliflower we'd ever had, and I've had my Aunty Mandy's cauliflower cheese, so you know it must be good. But hang on, then came the carrot dish. "Who orders a carrot?" My brother asked before exclaiming that it was the best carrot he's ever had. From now on, when one of us asks, "Do you remember that carrot?" We will both know which one we mean. Oh, we also saw both team buses roll by, and the staff were genuinely lovely. I will be taking my wife there soon to show her how much I love her and introduce her to the best carrot ever.

Really good food, bit cold in winter as you’re effectively sat in a shed.

Every single dish is absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced. You can spend under £50 each and still get the entire menu (plus dessert and drinks) which is amazing.

Such a special place in Cardiff for me. Terrific vegan options, with a warm and romantic feel to go with it. Will always return.

Loved the food, yes it's a little on the pricey side. The rib in bbq sauce and steak were highlights and I'm reliably informed that the Monkfish was very good ( by my none food sharing friend) I really enjoyed the take on a BLT....

Just wonderful! We could not have chosen a worse night, weather-wise, to visit Kindle. We experienced hail, winds, thunder and lightening and heavy rain. Despite this we did not feel the cold with cosy blankets and hot waterbottles being provided for us. The menu is full of tasty-sounding small plates, of which we ordered many. Every dish met and exceeded expectations, with delicious, locally sourced ingredients. Our only comment would be that we would have preferred the steak to have been the last dish, but we know that all food arrives as cooked, and that is just our personal preference. Our server was lovely, she was so attentive and positive even though she had to battle the weather to serve us. We can't wait to return and have already told our friends they must go!

So impressed - as it says on the website it’s about flamed cooking… But it also has some grilled and fried stuff too…. We had about seven shared plates, including an amuse bouche starter… drinks and a dessert each all for 81 for 2. Great staff.. and lovely outdoor seating . Have eaten in a lot of good places in Cardiff and this is up with the best of them. We ordered waaay too much food, but don't regret it one bit! I think we had 9 dishes between us and each one was very tasty....

Good food, but let down by the slow and awkward service. Wouldn’t go again.

High-end food, reasonably priced. We rocked in just to sit down and have a coffee but were taken enough by the menu to order. Exceptional stuff, even threw in an amuse-bouche of deep-friend oyster mushrooms on top of a wonderful sauce. My Moules Frites were exceptional, grilled courgettes with pesto was very fresh - the fact you can see where the herbs and vegetables are grown nearby is lovely. Basque cheesecake went down a treat. As you can see from the photos, the small plates aren't really that small, so I left quite satisfied. Note; they do ask if you have a booking so I'll assume they do get quite busy, but worth a shot if you haven't, as we did.

A wood burning version of tapas in the heart of Cardiff! Had a lunchtime table, and ordered 1 plate of flatbreads plus 3 of the small plates and 2 glasses of wine. That was just the right amount for a warm June lunchtime. The hispi cabbage had a good amount of heat in the peanut sauce which complemented the charred cabbage perfectly. The burnt onion butter was also a new flavour for us and came with the flatbreads. Delicious meal, all priced, and excellent wines.

Excellent food, excellent service & excellent evening overall. Just had a lovely evening out at Kindle. Food was really nice, original, and tasty - staff were nice and helpful. Nice, original restaurant with really good eco/ethical standards - definitely worth a visit.

This place has a great atmosphere, delicious food (particularly the char siu pork and the best baked/chargrilled potato I’ve ever tasted - who knew a potato could be a highlight!?) and a fantastic selection of natural wines! Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed lunch or dinner. For the quality of everything I would say the price is worth it too.
