They found us a spot without a reservation and then started up a gluten free fryer just for my meal of a burger and fries. Was amazing and unexpected. Highly recommend for a gf meal.

Good location and food. The chips were chunky and really good. Loved the lamb cawl, very meaty and so satisfying with the toasted sourdough, butter and a big slice of Welsh cheese. Also ordered the Welsh rarebit although it could have been toasted/warmed more. Staff was helpful and accommodating. The only negative feedback we have is they need to update their opening times both on Google and their website, which both indicated a 12 noon opening time on weekdays. We booked a table for 12:30 only to find out they were still close. We let the staff know about this and she said she would sort it out.

I really wanted to try something traditionally Welsh and came here for the lamb cawl. The flavours very good, but unfortunately the stew was severely oversalted, hence the 3 stars. We also found the chips that came with the burger to be very salty as well. The terrace was lovely and there's heaters around so it's very comfortable to sit outside.

Absolutely excellent, friendly service. Lovely setting in the heart of Cardiff. An easy place to find that serves Welsh food. Never having had Welsh rarebit before, I was eager to try it but I have nothing to compare it to so perhaps that is what it was supposed to taste like. The cheddar was not in any way sharp so perhaps the other ingredients overwhelmed the taste (?). It was effectively toast with a slightly cheesy taste with very little flavor. Bland would the word. The croquets had the right texture. Crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle. But again, it felt under seasoned - although maybe that is what it is supposed to taste like? All in all, worth a visit but if Welsh food is supposed to be bland, then it is certainly that.

We were looking for some place near our hotel that served Welsh food and this popped up. What a happy find! The service was excellent. The surroundings comfortable and relaxed. And the food! Granted, we had to google some of the items when reading the menu, but our choices were just what we wanted - true Welsh food that was delicious. We highly recommend the lamb cawl, 3 Glamorgan sausages with mashed potatoes, and the Chicken Gorwydd Glas. All were excellent.

Just wandered past this place and decided to check it out. My bf wanted to try Welsh food, so it made it a perfect spot for us to have lunch. The staff here were so friendly and sat us outside, which wasn’t a problem for us as it was a beautiful day. We both decided to get the Traditional Lamb Cawl with Sourdough Bread and Welsh Cheese. The waiter also suggested to us to order a side of fries just so we had enough food for us. The food came and it was very well presented and tasted delicious, although I do wish there was a bit more meat in the cawl. As much as I liked the place, there were a few things that were a bit strange. First one being, when I asked for the chunky fries on the menu as the waiter looked at me and told me they couldn’t guarantee that they would make them chunky. Which didn’t quite make sense as it said they were chunky on the menu. It didn’t matter too much as they served us chunky fries anyway. The last concern was when we went to pay and the prices of the dishes weren’t correct. Mainly the lamb cawl being 50p more and the fries being £1 extra. The staff sorted it out, but from my understanding, they didn’t quite seem that up to date with the menu, which concerned me a bit. Maybe it was a new menu, but the girl sorted it out in the end and was so friendly to us. They did also accept a student discount which was super useful to find out.

My partner and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pitch, a charming bar and eatery nestled in the heart of Cardiff Centre. Our server, Jack, immediately made us feel welcome with his impeccable hospitality. He guided us through the menu, recommending some of the house specialties. I opted for the Lamb Burger, while my partner savoured the Hoff Burger. Both burgers were bursting with flavour and perfectly cooked to our liking. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite! To accompany our meal, we enjoyed refreshing Blood Orange Gin. 🐑Welsh soup, "Cawl Cymreig" in Welsh, is a mutton and vegetable stew cooked by Welsh people in winter. On March 1, St David, the patron Saint of Wales Day is a day that every household will bring out their own version to commemorate and celebrate. The proportion of ingredients varies, but most of them use seasonal vegetables, plus leeks, potatoes, rutabagas/Swedish turnips (? The translation is so beautiful, it means Swede), radishes, etc., and are stewed with beef or sheep. The slow-cooked Cawl Cymreig lamb in this restaurant can be forked easily, and the vanilla flavor is at the back. I loved eating this stomach-warming thing after being out for a long time that day! I also tried the Welsh rarebit, "caws pobi". The bread is crispy and then spread with a prepared cheese sauce on top and then baked. The secret of this dish that is said to have appeared in the 18th century is in the sauce. In addition to cheddar cheese, it usually also includes Brown Ale, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. It uses sourdough as the base and chives on top to neutralize the greasy, spicy and crunchy texture. Just one bite after another. . . Originally it was called rabbit in English, but due to the lack of rabbits, it was renamed rarebit🐇 Follow @toiletpaperkiu to see more, and let’s get together #緷快狠丸🥢👽!

Disgusting service and I’m scared for my friend because it took us weeks for us to convince her to come out with us. Now I’m not sure she will ever come out again. heartbreaking. I pray nobody in that bar has anybody in their family with neurodivergence. It would be very sad I know for sure they will try to disapprove this claim therefore I did take videos and photos of the culprit. And the staff from the next bar have also said how they have had awful experiences with these certain members of staff.

Some scrappy pieces of streaky bacon instead of back bacon, 2 really snotty eggs, 1 barely browned sausage, some small cherry tomatoes bearly been near heat and the whole plate was stone cold. The toast was the best part, thick and chunky with welsh butter. It felt like breakfast had become another victim of shrink flation! But, at £11 I certainly felt robbed, the atmosphere usually great also had to liste to the most depressing tunes playing, so this breakfast was disappointing. We picked out this restaurant as they had advertised a Welsh cooked breakfast on their menu and once we had arrived they were promoting their genuine Welsh ingredients at the entrance. However the dish did not match the description, the food was average but had none of the Welsh ingredients listed, including Welsh butter (regular butter was used) and a Welsh pork and leek sausage (we were served a cheap plain pork sausage). The beans were also supposed to be 'bacon beans' and all we got were regular baked beans. Having highlighted this to the waitress she acknowledged our feedback and said she would pass it on to the chef but said that unfortunately they could not give any discount. On reflection I was irritated at this as they had saved money by using cheap ingredients and it had no Welsh authenticity at all. Seems as though they are desperate to keep as much profit as they can as they couldn't even offer us 10% off the bill (which would have been around £2.70). Would not return.

Visited The Pitch on Sunday and we both had the Sunday lunch. The plates were piled high with meat and veg, etc. It was delicious. We then had one Strawberry cheesecake and one Apple pie. Again delicious Staff were really attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Will definitely visit The Pitch again on our next visit to Cardiff.

Service was friendly and the place had a cosy, nice atmosphere but the food was cold when it arrived. Good beer selection

Brilliant place to eat and drink. Staff really polite and attentive. Slight quibble over the starter but it was sorted immediately . Would have liked to have left a larger tip but we had no more cash!! A gem of a place.

Great little place championing welsh produce in the buzzing Mill Lane cafe bar quarter. With seats inside and out, you can enjoy food and drink in a lovely atmosphere. The service was very good and helpful.

Nice bar, with a good atmosphere, serving tasty food and drinks. You can tell that the front of house staff enjoy working here as this is reflected by the excellent service. It was my first time trying Welsh rarebit, so it’s difficult to compare with other restaurants serving the same dish but, it was tasty and I would have it again. For mains the Glamorgan sausages and the mash were nice but there was too much gravy for my liking that it overpowered the other flavors…perhaps they should serve the gravy is a separate gravy boat. Overall, a nice bar and eatery that I would recommend if you want to try some “local” Welsh dishes.

Had a really great dinner here on Saturday night. Seated outside and it started raining and no sooner had my girlfriend said "oh, it's raining" the overhead canopy was already being deployed. We had Welsh rarebit bites, a burger and a chicken dish. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun with 80s/90s tunes. Service was friendly and quick and our waiter had the greatest hair I have ever seen - mad props to the guy it was glorious! Will definitely pop in again whenever we're in town.

The outside seating is very nice and the service is fantastic. We had sandwiches for lunch and the bread was probably the worst white dry bread I have ever tasted. It is recommended that they change bread supplier and try i.e. ciabatta or something else. Drinks are fine and atmosphere good.

Sehr gutes Essen, aufmerksamer Service. Einziger Negativpunkt war die zu laute Musik vom Nachbarrestaurant

its been a few years since returning. I liked the food it was enjoyable but They need to improve for me to return. Provide better seating with softer seats and better back support , really disappointed to see the metal chairs by the table . Why are the menus just pieces of paper , in this day and age at least use headed paper or card. I ordered a beer that arrived in a can , the menu should state bottled or tinned as it tastes different. The can of beer should have be poured in my opinion . The eating area is heated by a portable heater , the last time i saw that style heater was in a indian restuarant 20yrs ago. Another group of people came in and had to seat themselves , staff should have shown them where to sit. Food arrived in time and was enjoyable , the burgers should be served with complimentary crisps or salad, otherwise the burger is just solely on the plate . Asked for the bill once finished but then had to go to the counter to pay ???? is it not normal to bring the card device to the customer. I am not sure if this is a proper place to dine or just a place to have a no frills meal.

I have bought these pies from the supermarket so was interested to see what the restaurant was like. Really tasty; I had a festive pie with mushy peas and 2 Yorkshire puds and my daughter had a steak pie. The young man serving us was really friendly and attentive. Excellent

Consistently good food and service all round. Caesars is a reliable place for a relaxed atmosphere, and a unique approach to being a restaurant (in a good way). In particular I highly recommend the beef Sunday Lunch, which was delicious and the beef is cooked to order, ie, rare etc. We return regularly, and shall continue to do so. Highly recommend the farm shop next door also 😊
