Moved to the area a few months ago. Have visited the Glyn twice for food and both times have been amazing. You get plenty for your money. Staff are very friendly. Nice and clean. Definitely recommend

Tried again after passed problems with food and service hoping for better but no change had a mixed grill as I like my food frozen chips dry and cold mushrooms dry steak and all meat seems like pre cooked and stuck under grill to warm it but failed in a big way and all I get from bar staff when commented on food was sorry and walked away what a waste of money and time going there which I dought if I would ever go again though I live local class the staff as good friends

Pretty average pub food fare. Nothing horrendous just nothing to recommend. The restaurant version of beige...

Excellent service and quality food

After walking the old railway track near the pub (10/02/23) we sat down for lunch there. All 6 of us had different meals and all commented on how good they were. Delightful.

Lovely room upstairs for a private afternoon party, we were able to order drinks with waitress to save us up and down the stairs (as bar wasn't open)..the buffet was fab plenty of variety and fresh.. (ate too much)... My only gripe was I like to buy a bottle of tonic to add to my double gin... but they only had cheap tonic they poured in themselves 😕.....

Me and my friends go here every Wednesday and the staff and food are awesome very friendly and helpful reasonably priced and I will be recommending the glyn to friends of mine

Friendly staff and good atmosphere. However the pints are more expensive than the local average, that being said it's far nicer than the other locals so I'd definitely choose to come here over the them.

Turned up today and was given a table at short notice, however took our order then came back after 25 mins for payment, don't accept cash so a member of family nips to cashpoint, greeted by the server after 35 mins to tell me they didn't have what I orordered nd that my ticket has been sat on counter and not even looked at. May have been a very busy day, but was quiet when I arrived, who doesn't have a card machine these days?

We had a birthday meal for 22 people on the 23.06.2021. Fantastic service by Nathan and all staff. Meal was excellent also value for money. All ate together food was piping hot. Totally recommend. Brian

The food here was Amazing, huge meals, I had the BBQ Ribs for £12 and it was huge, a mountain of chips with like 2 full rack of ribs. Starters was the same size as mains. I didnt finish my main so I took the rest home, I cant imagine if someone could finish 3 courses. Service was amazing food came quick and not many other people in the restaurant, the only way I can imagine them making a profit is with drinks cause they dont have free refills. I do reccomend the Glyn.

Family run with excellent customer service. Food is always awesome and portion sizes are generous. Would recommend a Sunday roast or cream tea both favorites. Never had a bad meal going back soon.

Fantastic new menu (See the Glyn Facebook page) and reasonable prices for large portions of freshly prepared food. The staff are cheerful and pleasant and the whole place feels safe with the one way system. The beer garden is also clean and spacious. The new ciders in stock are delicious as is the food. On top of this we had deliveries of food right through the pandemic. The Glyn has to be one of the best places to eat and drink in the whole of the Rhondda. Highly recommend for a lite bite, a special occasion or just a drink.

Well what a night at the Glyn table booked for 7 o'clock for outside arrive at five to seven was, asked did we mind sitting inside instead which we said was OK I we could see they was busy. We were then showed a table inside and informed that it was table service. Twenty five past seven poor Nathan who was rushed off his feet arrived at our table (still not even a drink at this point) informed us that he was really sorry but there was a delay on food and there was going to be a wait. At this point we walked out we had been waiting thirty five minutes yes with not even a offer if a drink. P. S. This is not a pop at the staff as we could see they were working hard and doing their best.

The food was delicious with very generous portions. Children were accommodated even with a reduced menu due to the pandemic. Tables kept clean and plenty of sanitizer stations available. One way system in place to maintain social distancing.

We just had a 3 course sunday lunch delivered to our door, which we greatly appreciated in the current circumstances with lockdown..Service was super fast and very friendly, The food was piping hot, very tasty and massive portions all freshly cooked..If i could give more than 5 stars i would and cannot recommend this place enough👍👍👍

Meals reasonable shame they don't spend a bit of money as the seating ripped and in disrepair could be a smashing place if had a bit of tlc.

We had our daughters surprise baby shower in the restaurant last week, a very pleasant afternoon, excellent food very good service and lovely crisp white table cloths, it was a special day for us as a family and we would recommend the place for an event you are going to share with your nearest and dearest. Thank you to Alison and the gang.

Excellent meal as usual and good beer

Yet again another lovely afternoon tea. This time for an early mother's day with live music. Cakes and sandwiches were gorgeous and you get plenty. Alison and the staff always make an effort for every event they do.

Have been here a couple of times and am always impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the low prices & the size of the portions. The only down side is the shocking condition of some of the furniture! I'm sure TooGoodToWaste in nearby Ynyshir would be able to replace? Anyway, it was a delight to have mayonnaise & relish dressings served in the type of mini jar I never know what to do with after I've emptied hamper of marmalade, jam or chutney which family & friends insist on giving me at Christmas. The Glyn is near a bus stop & has a car park. It's also served by the Rhondda Fach footpath which links Porth to Maerdy. The Glyn has a beer garden at the rear and a patio at the front. Patio doesn't seem used for seating which is a pity as the view is great. However, you can enjoy the view from the lounge & separate dining area. There are screens around the lounge but they're not always on - thank goodness. There didn't seem to be any background music during my last visit - again, I'm glad, as I'd been there for a reunion. The lounge is a tribute to local actor Stanley Baker. Looking forward to my next visit when I intend walking from Maerdy reservoir to Pontypridd Lido. Wish me luck :D

Went there for afternoon tea for our friends 25th wedding celebration, and it was a very good feast. Would recommend. And the staff are great.

The Glyn has started a fish and chip Friday and it is Fabulous . Plenty of choice on the menu plus you can order from the normal menu if you prefer. The food was cooked perfect .Would definately recommend this place. The Sunday lunches are lovely too.

Been here a few times. Food ok but sevice hit and miss. No real complaints overall but always feel that standard here could be better.

Lovely 3 Sunday lunch, 10 of us in our party came to £90 in total for 5 3 course and 5 2 courses. Staff were friendly, meal sizes were very generous. Lovely choice of starter, mains and desserts, something for everyone. Definitely recommend!!

Sorry but although the waitresses were lovely service was really slow had to ask for menus then when food arrived all food was served between two but served in one serving bowl so you had to dig for what veg you wanted meat was overcooked and veg was undercooked. Roast potatoes were lovely and were the best part of the meal. Dessert was lovely also but had to ask to order would not have Sunday lunch here again

First time visit and very impressed Visited on a Saturday afternoon for a family gathering (aunties 85th Birthday) Very good staff throughout, helpful and friendly, lovely venue, modern, clean, good facilities. Good buffet provided, nice bar choice, reasonable prices. I will return

Have had many meals in the bar and the upstairs restaurant and apart from a few minor picky things they have all be lovely. I would recommend the 3 course Sunday lunch menu (only £11.95!!!!) and having a few drinks in the lounge. There is loads of choice on the menu and it is equally good for a pub meal, occasion meal or a few weekend drinks. The staff are friendly, hard working and try their best to accommodate anything that is asked from them but they can be very busy at times due to lack of staff numbers. Would suggest that they either get a card machine for payments or have a ATM machine in the lobby as currently the only way of paying is by cash. Would also ask that they had more music/band or quiz nights and made more use of the sports bar. There is plenty of parking at the rear and the building is easily accessed by elderly and disabled (the is a lift for the restaurant upstairs) people.

it was good and bad at the same time!for one there is definitely not enough staff. the same man serves the bar and restaurant and the drinks and waiters. i just dont feel he should be doing all of this. 1st visit, this was with my friend and we both had curry. and a baguette to share. it was foul. the curry had black lumps in it. we complained and the waiter said it was just veins. but there was more vein than chicken it was all fleshy and chewy!!. we didn't eat it it had long stringy onion too. the bread was also stale as hell that day and we complained and had some money back. and our drinks were very very flat. we had pepsi and he litrally done this infront of us. he put a tiny drop of pepsi in the bottom went out the back and watered it from the tap!!. i must say it is always clean in there and nice and quiet. 2nd time. i had a curry again. this time it was average. there was no black chicken atleast. still had stale bread which i did not eat so i have gave up on the bread. drinks same happend again!! my mams lager was also flat . she enjoyed her food though. 3rd time. this was for my boyfreinds birthday so 10 of us went. this time we were in the resturant. the food was very nice this time i had a curry again but it was a tikka ? it was amazing realy enjoyed. my dad had the foot long hot dog! we all enjoyed. the service was very slow mind and all of us had our food at different times. drinks STILL flat :(

My parents switched to this restaurant a short while ago because it has easy access for disabled patrons and on a recent visit home we all went there for Sunday lunch. The place was clean, welcoming and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The food (and I can't stress this enough) was excellent - well cooked, delicious, plentiful, varied and above all else excellent value for money. At the moment it didn't appear to be too busy but if all the meals they do are as good as they were on Sunday the place can surely only get busier. (which will probably disappoint my parents)

50th birthday and 16th so potentially a lot of complainers. My daughter and boyfriend were well happy with all aspects of the night. Service food ambience all very wonderful. My wife and parents equally so. My only suggestion would be mini wine bottles and cokes in the Fridge upstairs to save the journey down over the evening. Thankyou all staff for making it a special event.

Always a pleasure at this place, whether it be for a night out or a meal...I have done both, many times! The Staff are amazing, will go out of their way to go that extra mile. The meals are delicious, party food excellent, and don't get me started on the cream tea! Perfect, every time. 10 stars everytime! 😊

Update, recently visited for a family Birthday and the food / service was brilliant and the portion sizes very good, large selection of drinks at good prices.

This is a very modern place, you have 2 options of where to eat, downstairs by an open fire is where the "Pub Grub" is served and upstairs is the Restaurant where the "Al a Carte" is served with views down through the valley. There's a large range of food available, I attended with my friends and had steak and chips with all the trimmings and its was delicious and very reasonably priced. We also used the beer garden facilities which was very nice on the sunny day we was there. There's a sports bar / function room where you can watch all rugby / football games or you can catch a live band. All the staff are very capable and friendly, I would recommend to couples, groups of friends and families, I will be return.

Eat here regularly in the both the bar and the restaurant for special occasions.Food is lovely and good value. The bar menu is so cheap, and tastes great!

Went there for lunch last week to find a well run restaurant serving the usual list of items on the menu. Good selection and good portion sizes, I had the steak pie and this was not the usual individual pie but a portion of a larger pie, well presented and a reasonable size along with chips, they had fish and burgers as well along with curries and some vegetarian dishes, they start serving at midday and run through til 9 pm and food is available at any time between these hours, Good friendly staff as well makes this a place to visit
