First visit to proper gander in tywyn. Not very impressed too be honest. The menu needs a bit more excitement. Firstly the starter I had was a mackerel fillet. It came as mackerel mush with whole peppercorns inside. So was tough to eat. It does not say on the menu that it was going to be pureed etc... Secondly I had a rib eye steak. The steak had a lot of inedible fat. I love a rib eye and choose this option whenever I have a steak so I understand that there is fat running through. But when you have to spit out big chunks it makes the experience disappointing. Especially when it's £30. Finally my wife sicked up her food as soon as she got back to the caravan. She had pasta and chorizo croquettes. We paid full price and didn't mention anything when we were there as the place was empty and times are hard but had to leave a review as it needs a shake up too be honest. Bill came to £105. Bottle of wine Chorizo croquettes Mackerel mush Rib eye steak Pasta main Pasta kids

Being able to sit outside on a lovely sunny morning was a huge bonus. The food was good , but having to wait an hour for something off the breakfast menu to arrive was far too excessive and took the shine off the whole experience. A shame really, as this has probably put us off returning.

Wow what a find. We went back thereafter a castle visit. Had a lovely hearty Welsh stew and I had crumble and hubby had choc cake and custard. Milk shakes too. Karen and team v v welcoming and made a pair of holiday makers v happy. If you like a good homecooked meal go give them a try. GF options excellent too

We were welcomed into Plas Dinas by a lovely young man and shown into the beautiful drawing room. We were served a delicious taster of mushroom and ginger consommé, followed by delicious canapés and pre dinner drinks. After selecting our menu choices we were escorted to the cosy dining room. Each course was presented beautifully, the intensity of flavours just wonderful. We particularly enjoyed the surprises of flavour combinations, e.g sorbet with fennel pollen, just wow! The lamb was cooked to perfection as was the plaice. The whole evening was comfortable, the staff quietly attentive without being intrusive. The environment was elegant and calm. I’m looking forward to returning to Plas Dinas for another excellent experience.

Came here on Saturday, 29th March. Very busy on arrival and luckily we had booked. Lots of people were turned away whilst we were there. Plenty of choice on the menu. I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and my Mother had the Welsh rarebit. Food arrived pipping hot and fresh after a short wait. Food was lovely and the presentation was good. Friendly and hard working staff. One of the best cafes in Pwllheli. Popular with locals and visitors. The had a raffle there supporting a local school which was nice. Lots of people were picking up Mother Day hampers/afternoon tea whilst we were there.

We had the most fantastic extended family dinner at the Dining Room. The food was exceptional, the service delightful and the wine delicious. Si and his team bent over backwards to make it a truly special evening and we are super grateful. This restaurant is 100% the best on the Llyn and is one of our favourites anywhere.

I have just experienced the worst service I have ever had. We arrived at 7.20pm and placed our order at about 7.30pm. I ordered salmon, new potatoes, asparagus and a creamy white wine sauce. My partner chose roast chicken. The lovely young waiter explained that the chef had run out of new potatoes. We were offered 3 other type of potatoes and chose sweet potato fries. So far so good. We then waited and we waited…. The young man serving us was very apologetic for the delay and did everything he could to let us know that they were having problems in the kitchen - the usual chef had gone off sick, so the owner had stepped in to cook! He also said that the restaurant had only just re-opened etc. No problem. We waited…and waited….and waited… We then went inside because we were getting a bit cold. We overheard conversations in the kitchen which made us feel uncomfortable. After numerous apologies, our food arrived at 9.15pm!! The food took 1 and 3/4 hours to arrive! I could have cooked these 2 meals 3 times over in this time. There were only about 6 people outside during the whole time we were there and we were told there was a family of 4 inside. When it arrived, the salmon and fries tasted good BUT….there was no sign of any asparagus or creamy white wine sauce, just some very over-cooked broccoli and disgusting, watery, tinned carrots. We were told by the waiter that we only needed to pay 1/2 price for our meal and drinks which was a relief… We paid this and then I asked to speak to the chef (apparently also the owner…) Initially he wasn’t willing to come but I asked again and he came. I calmly told him that I had not experienced such slow service ever… I then made him aware that I hadn’t received any asparagus in white wine sauce as written on the menu… (I didn’t complain about the quality of the vegetables I was given.) What really upset me was when the owner/chef started to try to blame the young waiter for this! The owner/chef tried to tell me that it was the hotel’s “policy” that the waiter should have explained to / given me a choice about what I wanted… I felt really annoyed at this point because I felt this man was taking absolutely NO responsibility for: a) the exceptional long delays b) the missing ingredients c) providing me with only 1/2 of the meal that I had actually ordered. This owner/chef kept trying to pin the blame on his young and very patient staff member. I really cannot recommend eating here. What we experienced here was more than teething problems of a newly opened restaurant. There was a complete lack of respect by the owner/chef towards his own staff and towards me as customer. I have never experience anything like this before.
