Called and booked a table and informed over the phone we would have a dog with us, person who took our booking was very pleasant, asking what time we wanted to book so that they could ensure we were seated as far away as possible from other tables who were also bringing their dogs. Very friendly welcome from Emma, who looked after us as soon as we walked through the door. Due to a change of chef, there was a slightly limited menu, until new one is released for next season, but when asked for an adjustment to a listed item, they were more than happy to oblige. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. The Bass cask ale was clear as a bell, tasted great and held it's head all the way down the glass. Music was great, not sure if there was a jukebox or piped in but a pleasant change to the usual options of chart 'bangers' or generic muzak. After a previous disappointing meal in a larger venue earlier in the week, this visit was a delight and would be more than happy to come back next time we are in the area.

What a shame. Having read the reviews and been using the pub with only a few incidents for some time. Today was a bitter disappointment. One off pint, had bits floating at the bottom, not even a keg ale, took to the bar and asked the barman about it, I ordered another pint and a load of abuse. No other members of staff present at the time. Dirty glasses, dirty toilets, paint peeling from the walls, generally very poorly managed. Will never return

We discovered Faenol Fawr Country House Hotel & Restaurant when visiting the adjacent Glan Clwyd hospital, Bodelwyddan. Initially calling in for a coffee and then coming back for Sunday lunch which was what we would describe as good unpretentious food, nicely cooked and presented and very good value. Staff were all pleasant and attentive. We'll certainly come again. It stands in extensive grounds not far from the landmark 'marble church' . Faenol Fawr has an impressive history: built circa 1597 when James I was on the throne of England. It has Civil War connections and it's reputed Oliver Cromwell stayed/visited.

Lovely place! Called for lunch - food was excellent (although a bit pricey) Only fault, extremely understaffed! - only 2 ladies working, one behind the counter and the other serving tables. This meant lots of dirty uncleared tables which doesn't look nice, and they both looked overwhelmed!

Made very welcome including the dog who had a couple of treats. Food was lovely. I had the special of chicken & chorizo casserole with chips which was very tasty. Husband had BLT which was nice other than the lettuce ended up warm/soggy. Took away brownies which we enjoyed later. Would call again when next in the area.

Went for a drink Saturday night entertainment was fabulous there was a band on great music, bar team were so attentive and knowledgeable friendly and happy, some really great drink offers on and we stayed in all night even though we were out early doors. Well worth a visit, thank you for being so hospitable to us we will definitely be back to use the lovely beer garden in the summer.
