6 f us CB out for Sunday lunch , stunning building , friendly staff , but overall great food and at £25 for 3 courses a decent price , will be back for sure .

Lovely food, including for vegans. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I had "Sunday lunch", all vegan. Classy surroundings. Highly recommended.

Visited for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago, average food, one lady serving whole restaurant. The bar was full of dirty glasses looked like a function had just finished. Service extremely slow.

Very accommodating when we hadn’t booked the staff were happy to find us a table and lovely place. Nice meal even though there wasn’t a huge choice maybe because of Covid thank you

i We booked a table but found no need to book as no table reserved for us. We were placed at a table right next to an open window with a strong cold breeze coming through making us cold. Also we were seated just 3 feet away from other diners which made us feel uncomfortable in this time of covid. Another issue was that we were right in line with a constant flow of customers going and back and forth to the toilets. Placed our order which took an age to arrive and then the friendly waitress advised that she would have to go and get a roll and spoon for the soup starter. Waited over 5 minutes for her to return which meant the soup had gone cold due to the window being open. Upon finishing the soup we waited an age for the main course to arrive. The food was put on our table and then the waitress left to fetch the vegetables arriving back at the table 8 minutes later and the mains by then was luke warm. We ordered a desert and waited another 10 minutes for this to arrive. Could not understand the slow service in a restaurant half empty. Other to the problems we encountered the food was truly excellent and for this alone we will return and recommend this restaurant.

I took my husband and children here for a lovely Father’s Day meal, the staff were lovely and welcoming. The food was amazing it was fantastic standard. Excellent value for money. It made our stay in wales one to remember.

Ate here tonight on the first night of our stay, and I can genuinely say the food is amazing! 4 very clean plates! The menu had a good choice, but I'm a burger man, and can honestly say that was one of the tastiest burgers I've ever had... Everyone loved their dinners, from pizza to salmon to lasagne... Beautiful! P. S. I'll leave a proper review of the hotel when we leave, but so far would 100% recommend - the room is lovely, the building and grounds are lovely, and so are the staff!

Had my fathers wake here today,the food was excellent,all homemade,even the sausage rolls,pizza,delicious chicken goujons,etc.Buffet was well laid out,tea and coffee on tap,service was excellent,made all the difference.Thank you

We were lucky enough to enjoy a lovely stay in this beautiful hotel... Our bedroom was lovely, amazingly comfy bed.spotless bed linen...everything you need in youre room Delicious food..great choice and reasonably priced Every member of their staff were lovely..always cheerful, smiling, polite and very friendly .nothing to much trouble for them...the young lady that served us breakfast on our last morning was an absolute credit to the hotel...so kind...thank you every one ..we will visit again..

Had Sunday lunch here and it was lovely. Very reasonably priced and good service. The meat was good quality, meal hot and plenty of it. Will go again. We did not stay here so cannot rate the accommodation but it is in a lovely spot .

I visited as one of a party of over 30, for voting our Christmas office lunch.They had plenty of advance notice of s vegan (me) attending, and did pretty well, generally. Starter was mushrooms in Dundee sorry of sauce, main course a lovely nut roast and all the veggies.The odd but was they said in advance that, if I took my own vegan Christmas pudding, they would heat it up for me. So I did and they nuked it! Bizarre to think that a place of this standing court source a vegan Christmas pudding - I popped down Asda! I gifted the rest of it to their other customers. :o)Very friendly and efficient staff, very nice surroundings.

Loads of fresh veg and excellent service especially liked the gin and raspberry cheesescake. Would highly recommend but probably best to book as it was so busy

The food was great and plenty of it. Turkey was moist and tasty with plenty of veg carrots, broccoli, small corn on the cob and cauliflower cheese, with roast potatoes and stuffing ball plus plenty of gravy. Sweets were great and plenty of tea and coffee to finish off with a warm home made mince pie.

Fantastic meal today. 3 courses all excellent. Really lovely freshly prepared food. Staff welcoming and friendly. 20 in party and everyone had lovely meal followed by mince pie. Highly recommended. Very good value- delightful old building.

My room was clean however the heating was NOT working. 2 radiators that were in my room did not get hot at all the outside temp was 02c it was warmer outside. To keep warm I had to stay under my duvet to keep warm. The shower did not work the water came out of everywhere except from the head of the shower.

Stayed once again here at this wonderful hotel three times now this year so far and once again great stay in a great room with very attentive staff and brilliant food in the restaurant, will be staying again soon.

We actually stayed in this lovely old hotel when Warners let us down big time. Family run 3rd generation, extremely caring, nothing too much trouble. Not a vast menu but food very very good. Would recommend a visit

Came for lunch with some colleagues and had the steak ciabatta which was nice enough however at nearly £10 it’s very expensive and comes without a couple of chips or even crisps! Wouldn’t visit again for lunch as felt quite ripped off.?

I ate at the restaurant a few times over the course of a weekend as I was attending a wedding at the Faenol Fawr.

My family often come here for the Sunday lunch. There is a 2 or 3 course option which is great value for money. The food is always great quality with generous portions and very friendly staff.

My partner and I were staying in the area for the Easter Weekend and I decided to book somewhere for Sunday Lunch as I thought it might be busy and did not want to fight for a table somewhere.

Booked the Faenol for my husbands 60th party, having been there a couple of months ago for a wedding. Despite being busy with other events and Sunday lunches, the staff were great, polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The Sunday lunch was delicious, a little too much seasoning for some of our guests, but plenty of choice, hot well presented and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thank you again to all the Faenol keep up the good work.

Booked a table for two for a traditional Sunday lunch and was reassured on booking that prime Welsh beef from the locality would feature on todays' menu as is every Sunday.

My wife and I joined 50 others for our end of season dinner. The hotel is a very pleasant olde world establishment, which sits in it's own ground next to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The staff are very pleasant and efficient (which I find in most places these days), they handled 50 people at one go with no difficulty what so ever. The room we where in was oak panneled, with lots of atmosphere befitting an old manor house, which it originally was. The food was excellent, we had pre. ordered, but the the selection of courses was very good indeed. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed a very pleasant evening.

Visited for a friend's masqiatafe ball room was decorated beautifully. Beautiful surroundings beautiful building food was great all in all had a fabulous time. Would recommend and would also visit again possibly for an overnight stay to check out the rest of the hotel

Ok as a venue itself but the downstairs room is cramped, food wise it was poor for the wedding breakfast. Upstairs for the 'disco' it is unbelievably cheesy and dated, with awful music that doesn't promote people to dance or a good atmosphere. This is my third wedding I've been to here-it needs a revamp!

My Friends got married here on new years eve 2016 and the whole event was good, service in the bar was good, there is a place to get away and just chill and watch the tv for a while, plenty room outside to explore whilst having a ciggy and the meal with the wedding was really good aswell, also upstairs for the after party was well presented and more food/snacks were really good, The Beer was abit pricey but this is what youd come to expect from a place like this.

Ate here while staying as a guest in the main hotel. Plumped for the rib-eye steak, it was spectacular. Service brilliant too.

We had booked a table for 3, we have been here before but not for some time. The gardens surrounding the building are stunning and it's a beautiful building. The interior is in keeping with the age of the building but fresh and modern. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the 3 course lunch and it certainly did not disappoint. Being unable to have dairy the chef had agreed to make me some custard if I provided my own milk that I could have. It was such a luxury to have a pudding with custard in a restaurant. The portion size was perfect and both my Mum and Dad really enjoyed the meal. The meat we had with dinner was melt in your mouth. The building has lots of character and the manager has been there for some time and is as equally as friendly as his team. There's a story or two to be told about the ghosts that frequent this place and overall whilst we didn't see any spirits, our spirits were high after a delicious meal.

My husband and I spent two nights fie our friends wedding. We found th hotel and amazing place to stay in a tranquil setting fit for a Royal. The rooms are modern and well equipt. The only problem in our room was the mirror did not have enough lighting around it so found it difficult to put on make up and there was no full length mirror in our room which is not good for the ladies, otherwise comfy and very clean. We ate in the restaraunt for our evening meal and was not disappointed. The meal was served very hot and was delicious. The glass of wine with the meal was £4,90 for a large glass of Pinot which I found reasonable for a hotel of this calabor.. The only disappointment was on the day of the wedding the drinks prices went up, I paid £6.60 for a small glass of wine and soda. I found this extortionate and do not understand how this is deemed acceptable. We would definitely stay at this venue again but would check bar prices prior to drinking t the bar.

I went for a party to this place....the place is ok no any extra,if you want to see and smell Cows this is your hotel!First thing first...Staff- understaffed 4 staff for 80+ guest isnt enough...the service was so slow one of the staff didnt speak fullent English she was rude as well i think she was in charge,but not 100% sure.If she was than is a issue there.The food was so bad i know they have to get it out for a budget but that wasnt even a starter and the staff didnt served evenley the food....some table got 6-7 plate we got only 4 and when we asked the lady in charge she said she got no food left!Oops...Second problem PRICE.I payed £1.50 for a Soda Water...i dont mind to pay but 1.50 for asda water is a little bit expensiveWhen i asked for the reciept she said the till is not working.I asked for a written reciept for evidence.she give me one....iam sure this is illegal hand written reciept how they going to pay tax after this income?This is concerned me a lot cos a Hotel like this make a lot of money from drinks....especially if asoda water is 1.50!The food was really bad,cheap,frozen stuff.This hotel goes to Ice Land too.Poor service High price,Bad customer focus.

Located adjacent to Glan Clwyd Hospital, the hotel & restaurant is surrounded by a large garden and natural beauty. The restaurant has a nice cozy ambiance and offers a good selection of meals and snacks. The building also has facilities to host meetings and seminars and is conveniently used by hospital staff too. The conservatory part of the restaurant also offers very good views of the garden and can host large groups. Overall quality of the food is also very good.

The restaurant and bar has a lovely setting in this hotel. Plenty of food selection to suit all tastes. Lovely tasty food served hot and fresh. Stayed here for business so lovely to have good food as part of the hotel. I have stayed here a few times and food always exceptional. Highly recommended

Ive been there so many times over the years and it suits so many occasions: family meals; wedding receptions and evening celebrations. Very good for luncheons and less casual lunches with friends. I've always found the staff ever helpful including one lovely Polish waitress. I'd always recommend this resteraunt.

The location looks great, and I can see how well the buildings and grounds would accommodate a large event. Quiet today, though. Four of us enjoyed fish cake and goats cheese starters. My risotto was delicious, and others in the party were happy with their steak and salmon, but I suspect that the real star was the steak pie. And the Bakewell tart .....Only irritation was that they couldn't manage to deliver all the mains together, the place was nearly empty so a long five minutes staring at my food while waiting for my daughter's to arrive was unfortunate. We will be going back - the good was the nicest I've had in the area. So far.

We booked a table for 2 on Valentine's night. There did not appear to be a record of our booking and we were asked to wait in the bar while they got our table ready. The staff presumed we were booked in for a special Valentine's menu in the restaurant. We thought we were going to eat in the bar. After half an hour we asked if we could eat in the bar. This was agreed but it seemed all wait staff were occupied in the main restaurant. One hour and twenty minutes after arriving we were served. The staff were polite but ineffective. No one seemed to be in charge. The food was good but the poor service spoilt the evening. We were given a discount of 10% for the inconvenience but it in no way made up for the disappointing evening.

Attended 95th birthday meal as a guest. Greeted straight away when we entered and directed to bar area as we were early. We were told that other guests would be advised where we were, so we could be joined by them. Dined in a room on ground floor. Served extremely large starters, so we were glad of a good break before the main course was served. Food brilliant. Staff followed lead from person who booked the room, as a choir attended to sing a few songs and then happy birthday, which coincided with a waiter bringing in birthday cake. Sweets large and lovely too. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff and we didn't feel rushed to vacate.

Went on 14/02/2017 at 20-00 hrs. Restaurants was very busy. Starters were served 1/2 an hour after being sat down. Mains arrived approximately one hour after we had finished the starters. Sweets arrived an hour after the main course. We did not mind the wait because we went as a family and the conversation between us was interesting. No explanation was given for the delay and plates and cutlery were not cleared until just before the next course was arriving. It took 20 minutes to wait for the card machine to arrive to pay for the meal! After we had paid for the meal we chatted with a waitress named Kelly who was very polite and interesting to talk to. Kelly explained that they had new staff on that had not been trained up properly. The meal overall was well cooked and enjoyable. The restaurant is wheel chair friendly. Surprisingly we had could not order a desert wine, we told Kelly this and she said next time ask in advance and name what we want and they will obtain it for us. I countered this and said could we bring our own wine and pay corkage to which the reply was yes, very obliging. We will return and hopefully the service will have improved

We booked the Tudor room for a family event ground floor and great for those with disability's,Our relative had traveled down from Yorkshire and where running a bit late. But it was not a problem for the staff, who did not make us feel awkward about it.The room was set up for 14 but could have seated many more.We had are own member of staff who took care of the drinks.Food we had pre ordered and was all excellent.We had time to discover the building which is divine and also other suites they had to offer for weddings and alike. They had the up stairs set for a wedding and they had done the happy couple well.Peacocks in the grounds and a helicopter.The setting is fantastic for a special event or even a meal in there bar area.Well done and great thanks to Staff and Management.We left feel full and very contented.But sad to leave are Statley home.

Just been with a group of 45 mature people for our Christmas lunch.Food was good and plentiful waitresses very efficient and extremely helpful the home made mince pies were delicious. Tables set well and crackers had some great useable gifts back ground music was just that not intrusive a wonderful meal enjoyed by all.

We all enjoyed sunday lunch,ample measures of turkey &beef on our dinners on hot plates & thats a must for me.The room was decorated for Xmas with Crackers on the tables.

Ate here while staying in hotel, all food,service excellent. They have specials board, but only roast on Sunday.

Three blokes dropped in for Fish Friday and we had beer batter cod and chips all round.It was served hot and fresh and the twice cooked chips were great with lashings of vinegar. The fish was good but I suspect it was frozen rather than fresh, I'd expected fresh at the price. But we still enjoyed it and there were clean plates all around.We took a little walk around the grounds, there seems to be a nightclub / party venue there.And they were preparing for a wedding in the lovely main manor house. It's a good spot as it's peaceful with plenty of parking and only 5 mins off the A55.Manor house 'rustic' style with nice fittings and plenty of room for larger group.Service with a smile from the pleasant Polish lady behind the bar.Just under £40 for food and soft drinks with a fiver tip for smiley service.

We've been to this restaurant quite a few times now and we have never had a bad meal yet , all have been good quality and cooked to perfection. If there's something you want to change with the meal while your ordering there's never a problem. I highly recommend coming here for an evening with friends or just as a couple, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff willing to meet your requirements. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening thank you

Food was excellent. Locally sourced and cooked to perfection. Staff were attentive and available. Nothing was too much trouble.

We met up with a group of friends here one lunch time. My companions chose from the set menu but were a little disappointed that some of the food was warm rather than hot and there was a stray hair. My food was hot but was ordered from separate menu, and I didn't have veg side order. I think we were a little disappointed as we'd told our friends to expect 'high' and we got 'average' this time. Albeit it's a lovely place and a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. It's the place we choose for dinner or lunch when we are meeting friends travelling along the A55 as there is little detour for them. It is two minutes away from the Bodelwyddan junction and well signposted.

Part of a business stay - good choice of meals. Very tasty with generous quantities. They do need to learn to bring everyone's meals and side vegetables together though. Round of drinks was expensive.

Dined here with a party of seven during my one night stay on business. The food was very average. Soup lasagne and a cheap bottle of Malbec. Our waiter was very friendly but, with this standard of cuisine, Im afraid that I won't be back in a hurry.

Visited for Xmas dinner on Xmas day. I'm vegetarian but unfortunately don't do well with cheese either.Called the restaurant as there was only one cheese veggie dish and didn't want to put my family out. They couldn't offer any other alternative so I settled for a roast dinner bar the meat.On the day I receive two roast potatoes and three pigs in blankets(Erm hello that's meat!) I didn't make a fuss and gave them to my dad. Alls I got was two roasties and shared veg for our table, so disappointed they couldn't be more accommodating!

An enjoyable morning coffee followed by business lunch.Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely morning coffee enjoyed and delicious homemade soup and warm crusty roll for lunch.

First of all I must say that the food in this hotel bar was excellent and whilst the prices are closer to what one might expect to find in a good restaurant's in this part of the world, it still represented good value.Unfortunately the service we received was far from acceptable! We had booked and for seven and were seated on time.The bar was quite empty and lots of tables available with only 3 others reserved our orders were  taken promptly and we sat back to chat. Gradually the tables began to be occupied. We thought it a little odd that tables began to be served that had been setted 10 mins after us and then 15 and then 30 minute when someone was served on the next table at 40 minutes so my wife asked the server for an estimate on when we could expect our food. She was very apologetic and came back to tell us that it would be a further 10 mins or so as my wife had ordered chicken  and Chef wanted to cook it fresh!?A second apology and 15 mins later some of our food arrived.  this was followed by the balance and a further apology within 5 minutes. We enjoyed the main course and asked to look at the menu again for a sweet  15 mins passed then a passing waiter stopped and said sorry you wanted to see the menus again we told him to forget it and bring the bill. He asked if everything had  been ok . much to my surprise my wife complained about the service that had spoiled her birthday night out. The offer of a discount was made and accepted. An indication that this poor service recognised and  was unexpected. The hotel is very nice and old world charming  in it own grounds with peacocks in the garden and carpark . The bar seemed to be popular with  loud mostly Ladies of the sporty type ( may be they have a Jim in the grounds or close by? ) and business people, that could not leave the phone off to eat.  For the first time in ages no kids could be seen in the bar, why I don't know as they did have a kids menu.So if you are a couple or single maybe this could be just the place for a good meal or overnight stay in Rhyl / Bodelwyddan, but if you have kids may be a good idea to check with the hotel first.

Went with family on a Saturday evening, despite two private functions being held the service and the food were both great.

We ate here a few nights and the food was amazing. The staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much bother for them. Even when some of our family members arrived just before 9.30 when they stop serving food they asked the chef to stay to ensure they got something to eat.

Looking for somewhere nice and certainly different to celebrate my partners birthday we went for our first visit to the Faenol Fawr Restaurant and we had a very enjoyable if somewhat mixed evening. The Restaurant was sadly booked out for a wedding but we were fortunate to squeeze in at short notice into the Bar Restaurant area which was also very pleasant.If I was asked for a rating on service it would have scored a four out of five (very good). It was a shame about the food as it was it was very good and was just let down in a few places. The prawn cocktail starter unfortunately was still very cold & clearly came out of the freezer which would not have been so bad if you could actually taste the prawns. Every credit to the management this item was removed from our bill without our even asking. The steaks were excellent and deserved to be supported by better cooked vegetables and chips. Luckily the wine helped us through to the end. I would return as the setting was very interesting and just to see if we could iron out the difficulties next time and give them top marks.

One of the best meals we have ever had! The food was excellent, freshly cooked, well served and excellent value for money.This was our first visit and we were very impressed. Lovely location, comprehensive menu, and first class service.

We have just got back from this restaurant and I wanted to get straight onto trip advisor as I know many people look at this site. We had a lovely meal - we chose the steak and ale pie and it melted in our mouths - yum. I would give the food 10 out of 10 for the food, the portions were very good, the staff were attentive and kind, and the cleanliness of the place was top notch. We will be going there again - no doubt about this. And I have to say that I am very fussy.......Thank you Faenol Fawr - we will be seeing you again soon!

We have visited the Faenol Fawr twice in two weeks, once for my birthday with family and the second time with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary and both times have been an utter delight.The staff are friendly, attentive and eager to please and the starters and main courses have been huge and really tasty. I'm not really a dessert fan so I don't think I'm qualified to comment on the sweets but I wish I had tried the cheese board, I'll bet that that was outstanding.Value for money, and it isn't expensive, and service can't be bee ten. It's a great place with a lovely staff and I can't fault it.

Have been several times for different meals. The food is always very good and also good value. The service is great and the food is freshly prepared. This means it may take a little longer to prepare but it is always worth while.

We used the Faenol Fawr for our AGM, I'm secretary of the North Wales Tourist Guides Association, they gave us the restaurant for the evening, the room is wood panneled and atmospheric, very apt for tour guides, we booked a three course meal with three choices, the accommodation, food and room package and service was excellent.

Food was lovely roast beef with trimming loads to eat. Starter very tasty and the wine just flowed. The dining room was dressed to befit the Bride and Groom and all the guests.

I attended for a christening and the buffet was gorgeous!! I've been to the faenol for many events and can never fault the food. Lovely place, lovely food couldn't ask for anymore.

We visited twice within a week and decided to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant. First visit end of September was an impromptu tea as a couple and the other visit early October was a visit with friends who we socialise with. After our earlier visit Tony helped us with our table choice and made sure we had the best service, 'discreet' when we wanted a chit chat and 'there' when we needed him. There is plenty of choice from the set menu and table d'hote. We've had crostini, soup, steak, salmon, pasta, brownies, ice creams, cheese and biscuits. Food is not too fancy and is substantial. As we are aware of a few visitors who come to the area on business trips, we asked if we could see a couple of rooms, and we were given a tour of the cottages and some of the rooms available. The staff are always polite and courteous.

If you want ambience this place certainly has it, nice classical music played quite low so that you are only just aware of it. Stately home feel to this hotel and restaurant. Dress smart casual. Low lighting adds to the mood. Excellent staff and the food is delicious, we didn't want to leave it was so comfortable.

Attended as a party of 9 for late Sunday lunch. It's a lovely spot and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. Roast beef arrived. What a disappointment. It was tough, tasteless and served with what I imagine to be frozen roast pots which were hard and tasteless. We were starving and muddled through. Those who had turkey said that was ok. I told the waiter it was over cooked and not enjoyable. He apologised and that was it. Certainly won't be returning.
