We came here for a light Sunday lunch without having booked but that was not a problem even though it became very busy. We were warmly welcomed and invited to sit where we wanted. We chose the pork baps with roast potatoes, stuffing balls and gravy. Hardly a light bite but absolutely delicious - all perfectly cooked and piping hot. The bottle of wine also went down very nicely indeed! And all of this with friendly service and at a very reasonable price. A shame we live so far away but we will definitely return.

We visited Ty fry inn on Saturday afternoon. 16 of us met up as family were up from down south and staying by the castle. This pub was near to the family staying over and could accommodate 16 of us. We pre ordered our food and to our surprise all food came out at the same time and all piping hot. No one had a bad comment about the food. The Barman and server Brian was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely call at the pub again when we visit the coast

When I enquired about lunch recently, Andrew explained the normal opening time was 4.0pm, but very generously offered to open at ! pm for us! We had a very warm welcome with excellent beer and food..... My friend and I have frequented this pub since army days in the1950's and it has always been a warm and friendly country pub. Andrew and Diana took over the Ty Fry 18 months ago and are wonderfully hospitable and deserve to succeed in their new venture. So do drop in and give yourself a treat.

We had a warm welcome in this old style pub with a good selection of ales and gins. The menu on the table was quite varied and very reasonably priced. I’ve read the reviews for this pub before we came which helped us pick where we would stay. What a shock we got - we have a dog so could only use the public bar so had to sit with the local drunk/drug addict who continuously used the F and C word. Food and drink average and I cannot say how disappointing it was. Thankfully we found somewhere else even though we paid for a taxi each way. Nothing would make us go back there. If I could give it a zero I would.

I found this pub through trip advisor while looking for somewhere local to a holiday cottage where we are staying. The new owners have only been running the pub for a few months but are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The menu is still evolving so new dishes are being added but there is a good selection of pub grub plus a specials board. We were recommended the freshly beer-battered fish finger sandwich and chips and it certainly did not disappoint (they are more like wales’ fingers!). All of the meals in our party of 7 were tasty and freshly cooked (including chilli & rice, mixed grill, lamb shank, gammon, pancakes & icecream). The portions are very generous. We booked a table in advance and the staff offered to take a pre-order for the food as there was a singer/guitarist due to set up soon after we arrived (which was very thoughtful). I definitely recommend the Ty Fry for the food or as a pub with a nice atmosphere for drinks. There is a mixture of clientele (old and young, locals and holiday makers). I expect the pub will get even better as the owners establish themselves more. Hopefully we will get the chance to return during our stay in the area.

Me, my fiancé and two children arrived at this pub after a long drive from Yorkshire, as we were visiting relatives in Bodelwyddan. And after having a good look on trip advisor we thought we would give some food ago. We were welcomed by friendly bar staff, I had a Latte and my fiancé and children had coke's. Shortly after we order food, I ordered the American combo for one off the 'snack shack' and a mixed grill as my main meal, my fiancé had fresh fish and chips and the two children had fish fingers, beans and sweetcorn off the child's menu. The food came out very quickly and we had clean plates all round, very tasty and we all very much enjoyed our meals. Wide selection off both the menus for a small village pub, and very cheap prices! Again lovely staff and would highly recommend it to anyone, we defiantly will be returning

Two occasions on the same evening short measures of the 175ml wine were served to me, the measuring cup was nowhere near full. I complained, and had a long chat with Sam the licencee (who happens to be the girlfriend of the barman in question who served the undermeasures). Tonight when i asked for an after "time" whiskey, i was rightly refused, but had a discussion with the regulars at the bar who all had half full glasses plus another full glass. The licencee's father stomped up to the bar and started berating me as a complainer, again because i was discussing with the customers about my refused whiskey. The father told me that the the wine measures were "only slightly undermeasure), and i could complain to whom i wanted. Shocking arrogant behaviour, needless to say i shall not spend my hard earned money there again whilst that "close knit " family runs it. I shall be writing next to the Marstons brewery.

Visited on Sunday 27th September after stumbling across the place as a halfway point home from our holiday.Nice enough on approach and plenty space.Ordered 2xburritos which were to be served with chips and coleslaw and side ordered some extra dips.We were told they had no green chilli dip available so we opted for an alternative. The food arrived relatively quickly and was reasonably priced and presented but came minus the chips and coleslaw advertised on the menu.We highlighted this to a youngish gent behind the bar who went to the kitchen to enquire on our behalf, the kitchen is right by the bar area and the door was open so the chef could be heard loudly complaining about our request which made me feel uneasy, the bar guy returned and promised to bring over some chips and as they had no coleslaw some onion rings as an alternative which we were happy with. We then ate our burritos and 15 mins later a lady came to collect our plates and asked if everything was ok with our meals, we explained we had been promised chips and onion rings which had not arrived yet. Another 10 mins passed and a small dish of chips and a couple of onion rings arrived which we enjoyed and then left.We had no idea that Sunday was a carvery day or we probably would have chosen the carvery as we were hungry enough to eat whatever came - Perhaps the staff could make this clearer to future visitors. The food we did have was lovely and tasty and served quickly its just a shame that we were made to feel so awkward and anxious about the missing items with no apologies. Everyone makes mistakes but a quick customer service overhaul would have made the situation so much better.

sorry to hear that you felt your custom was not appreciated on your visit last sunday.as the COOK in the kitchen one or two wires were crossed when i was asked about vegetarian options available.due to the extremley limited space in the kitchen we only usually have room to cook homemade roast dinners on a sunday.we do offer all the vegetarian options off the main menu and the childrens menu for obvious reasons.unfortunately errors do occur from time to time but the general feedback we have had in the short time we have been operating (6 weeks) has been really encouraging.and we are constantly endevouring to improve the standard of food and service we offer.im sure if you visited the ty fry again you would be happier with the expierience and having discussed this instance as a team we have used it as a learning curve.regards david.

After using trip advisor to find somewhere near us to eat after a good 3 hours of travelling I was looking forward to a good meal. Upon entering the pub we were greeted quickly and served at first by a young man who told us "There's only two lambs and three chickens left" before we had even asked for a table! My boyfriend wanted a lamb roast dinner so he got his order in quick but then another lady came over and carried on taking our order. I asked her what the veggie option was so she said she would go and check with the chef. As we were stood right by the end of the bar opposite the kitchen door we could hear exactly what was said. The chef exclaimed "What? A veggie roast dinner, what's that supposed to be then?" and raised voices from him saying that it was supposed to be roasts only and that he supposed he could do a 'frittata'...to be fair she came back and asked me what I'd actually like off the main menu, adding that on a Sunday we 'only really do roast dinners'. I asked for the veggie burrito and she went again to check with the chef but the young man who served us first walked past again saying "He's told you he's only doing roasts". At this point I did want to leave as I didn't feel like they wanted my custom and felt a bit of a burden (and thought 'What kind of chef doesn't think about having a veggie option at all - more of a 'cook'!!!!) but we had already bought drinks. She ignored the young lad, checked with the chef and then told me it was now 'fine' to have what I wanted. When the food arrived shortly after (not long to wait) my boyfriend enjoyed his but I was disappointed with mine as it didn't have chips or coleslaw as stated in the menu. I didn't ask for some as I already felt like I was a pain for being veggie and to be honest would expect a cook to know his own menu. It turned out the people on the table opposite us also had the same complaint about no chips and they also had burritos off the main menu (I wonder if they were veggie too?)Ok food but disappointed with the whole experience. Would have left fewer stars had it not been for the speed of its delivery and general cleanliness and price. If you are only doing roasts on Sunday then make it clear from the start and please provide a veggie option that is what it says it is. It's just not fair to exclude us in this day and age. If you are serving food off the main menu then please let all your staff including the 'cook' know that too!

We visited Ty Fry a year ago and enjoyed a great time but we were disappointed on this visit. The sign outside boasted new management but sadly not for the better. We had a table of 10 booked, The kitchen did not know although it was in the diary. "I wasn't told," he said. Maybe he should check the bookings.Peas or mushy peas we were asked when the orders were taken. Why? Even when mushy peas were ordered, they came with garden peas and no explanation. When we asked, "Sorry, we haven't got any mushy peas."One lady asked for mustard to go with her steak, sorry, they didn't have any. Not English, not French, not anything. Also, the same person had ordered her steak to be medium rare but it wasn't. Far from it. She complained and, rightly, was not charged for it.My wife chose a dish containing what the menu described as smoky pulled beef. In fact, it was so spicy that she left about 90% of it, just eating the chips and salad. When we went to pay, I mentioned it and the guy behind the bar asked if we were warned it would be spicy, we said No - and his pathetic excuse was that we would have been warned if orders had ben placed at the bar but they had taken our orders at the table because our party was big. He apologised but still charged for the meal, disgraceful!Four of us chose to order desserts and those that arrived were enjoyed but they included two orders for rhubarb crumble and, after a couple of minutes, he came back to say they only had one portion left. It was only 8.30pm, it's no way to run any form of establishment that serves meals. The only reason that I have given this place a Poor rating and not Terrible is that four out of the ten diners had acceptable meals. We won't be going again. Oh and I almost forgot, we had one very rocky table that they changed for another after we complained. As they picked up the table to remove it, one leg fell off. That could have meant meals and drinks in our laps. Luckily we were alert, as neither the management or staff had noticed the problem.

We decided to try the Ty Fry Sunday roast today and I can honestly say it was the best Sunday roast I have had at a pub! The Yorkshire puddings were huge and you could tell they were home made! The beef was cooked perfectly! I would definitely recommend anyone to go and eat here! Super value for what you get!

We decided to eat out before going on our ghost hunt in Bodelwyddan Castle, and chose Ty Fry Inn as it is just over the road from the Castle. It wasnt very busy at all and we were able to find a table very easily. There were 6 of us in total and when we ordered our food we requested that the one starter that we ordered came with our main meals, as we had limited time before having to be at the castle. The starter came, and no main meals! Half an hour later our main meals had still not been served?? The waiter Gav was very polite and apologised, but as there were only two tables that were eating, so we did wonder why it took so long. I am not a complainer but I think if I am going to review something that I should be completely honest. The cuttlery was filthy, and we had to clean it ourselves. The food, when it finally arrived was actually rather nice, my husband and I had bacon and cheese burgers with fries, and I have to be honest the burgers were very nice. My sister had steak and said it wasnt very nice, and my brother in law said the hunters chicken was lovely. There is a good choice of food on the menu and the prices are reasonable. All in all I dont know if I would eat here again?? But on a totally un associated note, you must do the bodelwyddan ghost hunt!!

Gave this one a try after reading some of the reviews. Staff were friendly enough, Sunday lunch was adequate - apart from the roast potatoes that were impossible to cut. Ate in the bar as we had been out walking - someone needs to clean in there a bit more often. Dirty glasses on the outside tables and bins overflowing.Shame - it's a nice looking building from the outside and very convenient for the church and castle.

As locals (Kinmel Bay) this pub is almost on our doorstep! We tend to visit on a Thursday evening for the Grill Night. There is normally a not too lengthy wait for the food, but as it is freshly cooked, to order, this is not a problem. It is a small & friendly local Pub, which serves good food. Would definitely recommend it - in fact one of my cousins & family are coming over end of July, & I have suggested we all go there for a meal !! Lovely.

Try the "Ty Fry" for great value food and friendly service. Good location, easy parking and a short stroll from the "Marble Church" which is a well worth a visit if you are in the area. The food is freshly prepared for each order and so it takes a little longer than some places but is well worth the wait.

We visited the Ty Fry Inn for lunch whilst staying at Bodelwydden Castle hotel. It was a short drive/walk from the hotel so it is ideal for a change. My husband had a prawn sandwich, the prawns were so big they could have easily carried away the sandwich. :-) There wasn't a lot of choice for me as a vegetarian so I had a jacket potato and salad, the only topping choice was cheese. This was ok but I,m not a lover of microwaved potatoes. It was a nice little pub with a nice atmosphere.

I don't know where to start really..... regarding Fiona C's review? I was at the Ty Fry new years eve and I must have been at a different pub to you, Fiona C? The atmosphere was fantastic and it was buzzing. The live band was brilliant, a duo called 'Krave' who were situated in the bar area which was jumping!! I imagine you were sitting in the lounge area which was much quieter. It's a shame you didn't walk 5 seconds to the bar area where you would have heard the live band much clearer, as you missed out there! As for the £4 entry fee..... there was NO buffet advertised. What do you expect for £4? At the end of the day, any night is what you make of it. If you were celebrating NYE with a party of friends then surely it's the company your in that matters? I find your comment on here inappropriate for the event you have commented on and think it's unfair to The Ty Fry.

My mother purchased two tickets at £4 each to celebrate new year in at The Ty Fry Inn and I have to say we might have well stayed at home ! The hosting skills of landlord and landlady were appalling ! Seems to me in your were in bar you got treated better than those in lounge who had no music tilled asked for , no buffet , no countdown to new year to say I was discussed is an understated ! I WILL NOT BE RETURNING AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went New Years Eve with a large family group, we sat in the lounge, no music, stated live music when we booked the tickets. They eventually found a cd for a bit of background noise. No buffet, this was also advertised. No countdown to midnight, no streamers one of the group went and fetched some from home. Good job we all made something of the night ourselves,

Went to this pub today after a visit to Rhuddlan Castle (also highly recommended!). The staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was delicious (both adults and children really well catered for) and the price was really reasonable (about £50 for 4 adults and 2 children for mains and desert). We had a 2 year old and a 3 year old with us and the staff were really good with both of them. We will certainly be eating here again when we are next in the area.

Blimey! Called in for dinner as we were passing through. Sweet looking pub which doesn't look quite right where it is! It should be on a country lane!Anyway, the food was delish! Pub grub but it was extra-lovely pub grub. Husband thinks it was the best curry he'd ever had in a pub. I had the cheese Ploughman's and it was beautiful. The children enjoyed their meals too. Really fresh ingredients and a great deal of care taken with the presentation. I think the lady who served us was the landlady. She was very friendly and helpful anyway. It was nice and clean and the pub atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.

We called in with our two grandchildren aged 4yrs and 18mths. the younger child needed a high chair, there were no other people in the eating at the time there were however quite a few at the bar area We saw a male member of staff who was talking to the bar customers. The high chair that was available did not have a strap, that went through the childs legs to stop the child slipping right through the chair. We asked for another chair or the strap. We were given another chair and all the strapping was tangled together ,the person working in the pub at the time( we only saw him no one else) watched us from the bar area struggle to sort the chair out and when we all looked at him he went into the kitchens. The strapping was in a worst state than the first one, and just as dangerous. We decided to leave and on the way out as we left he came out of the kitchen and began speaking to the people in the bar. We live in the next village and often take visitors out for a meal. Needless to say we shall not go to the Ty Fry again.

Called in midway through the afternoon after a long journey. We were travelling with our little dog, ordered our meal and sat outside. The lady came to bring the cutlery and asked why we were sitting outside as it wasn't too warm, (typical British weather). We explained that we had our little dog with us and were outside because of that. She said its no problem you can bring the dog through into the bar. We were quite surprised at this as we didn't think any pubs in the area allowed pets inside. The dog was not allowed within the lounge which was quite understandable but we were made very welcome in the bar. A very nice pint of Marstons and a nice choice of wine. (often we find wine to be overpriced and not very nice, having sat in an opened bottle for a long time - not the case here) the food was well presented and very nice. Very reasonably priced food and excellent quality. We will certainly be back again.
