If you fancy a Mediocre pint and being called a liar this is the place for you. We went for a drink, we had sandwiches with us and we're asked not to eat them there as they served food, fair enough. We left the premises to eat them then returned to finish our drinks. Then another member of staff asked us not to eat them and we said "no problem" she proceeded to call me a liar as she could see less sandwich forgetting the human ability to move . The staff were very hostile we left with our party after one drink and went on to Tudwells where we were welcomed politely even though they were much busier. ( unsurprising)

Really disappointed. Ordered a large chips, paid a large price, and this is what we got. It didn’t even fill half the carton.

Lovely friendly staff, great to bring my grandad to as he's in the nursing home just up the road and loves coming down for a Guinness

Called in here for coffee and lunch today and had an amazing club sandwich, which was huge, The toasted triple layered sandwich all made with fresh ingredients along with a side of coleslaw and salad on the plate and it was excellent value for money. The bar menu has a good selection of light bites to sandwiches, cibatta, and a good selection of main meals. The hand cut chips were amazing too. The coffee, drinks, and bar menu were priced well, and all food was excellent and value for money. I believe they do an excellent Sunday roast, too. Service was good , polite, and helpful. I haven't tried the rooms but believe they are good quality. This is an old historic building. It has a historic interest in the history of Denbigh.

We came to the restaurant for an early dinner. The view and the interior were lovely. Menu was limited - sadly we couldn’t find any chicken dishes (not in a sandwich). I ordered beef brisket - it was served as a sandwich in between two ciabatta slices. It was soft, but the taste was sweet due to the chutney, and very disgusting due to the blue cheese. It wasn’t specified clearly, so I was hoping this cheese would be served separately and I just wouldn’t eat it, but nope, it was inside. The taste was very very bad. And the price was £14. Chips were served without any sauce, and no sauce was offered by the staff. So, it was very dry. Coffee was very bad and sour, had to ask for some milk to mix it together. Pavlova dessert for £8.50 was my biggest disappointment. It should be called micro-Pavlova. It’s the tiniest Pavlova I’ve ever seen, and so overpriced! Overall, can’t recommend - neither for the drinks, nor especially for food. Service charge 10% was already included into the price.

Couldn’t have been cosier, caught my eye on the way past & very glad I stopped in. Service was great, extremely accommodating and did me an early dinner in the bar so I could hike to my overnight stop. Talked me through the beer selection & made me feel at home. Lovely atmosphere & perfect hospitality. The host (I didn’t catch his name) chatted with us & it made for a great atmosphere of all tables in the bar. Would happily stay & it’s a fantastic location for mountain walks. Food was delicious & very reasonably priced (I forgot to leave a service charge & feel very guilty, couldn’t have been more deserving - please drop by and have a drink on my behalf)!! I’ll be back :)

Lady behind the reception wouldn't give the access code to enter the car park to charge our electric car although it states they will on the charging point. Nobody was parked in any of the electric spaces, I wonder why. Shame as the park opposite would have been perfect for our son and for us to have a few drinks and food. Certainly lost custom.

Arrived for our dinnner reservation at 7.15, ordered our drinks & chose our food. I wanted the pea & shallot ravioli but I wanted real mozzarella instead of the fake stuff that it came with so I asked the waiter if that was possible. He allegedly asked in the kitchen but apparently they didn’t have any…….very odd considering there is a dish on the starter menu with buffalo mozzarella on it . Ordered soup instead which was average . A plate arrived with a knife & spoon on it, half thrown & half skimmed across the table & I was told “this is for your soup…” as it landed with a clatter. Starter plates removed but it was a further 45 minutes at least before we received our main courses, despite people who ordered after us being served their mains. We waited to be asked if we wanted further drinks by the several waiting staff that passed our table numerous times but alas no, so my husband went to the bar himself and was served within seconds . Disappointed with our main courses when they eventually arrived…..my chicken was dry & parts of the dish were burnt , resulting in a very bitter taste so I didn’t eat it…..I pointed this out to the waiter when he removed the plates & he said he’d mention it in the kitchen, I don’t know if he did or not . Husband had the seafood platter which was disappointing for the cost of the dish. The lad serving needs also to be reminded to not constantly keep running his hands through his hair all the time when he’s serving food….. because I doubt he washes his hands afterwards. Also his scruffy footwear gives a bad impression too. We declined to order desserts or further drinks. I nearly always leave a tip but on this occasion I didn’t as neither the service nor the food warranted it. Eating out is very expensive these days & with pubs & restaurants struggling to stay open, they need to do better. Young waiting staff who haven’t had any training in hospitality at all don’t do any business any favours so maybe a few hours spent on this would be beneficial to all. We have plans to visit the area again soon but won’t be returning.

It's a lovely building and the dining room was very busy when we arrived. Staff varied from off hand to really friendly and the service was fairly quick. Lamb dish was really good and tasty, beef a bit hit and miss with the pie/tart being great but the meat a bit chewy. Extensive cheeseboard and good puddings. A little bit expensive for the quality but a pleasant evening.
