Nice pub and dog friendly. The decorations inside and out are nice making a great atmosphere. Staff are lovely and the selection of drinks are very good. Not eaten there but it smells great!

Have come to the pub on alot of occasions on weekends and the entertainment, staff and atmosphere are alway spot on! Had a couple of Sunday dinners here now too and it does not disappoint! Would highly recommend.

Great pub. Best thing is the friendliness of the staff. Could do with a cask ale but the Guinness is very good. Excellent toilet facilities!

Roast dinners are spot on, great quality, excellent staff and cannot fault this pub at all. Be sure to book a table so you’re not disappointed. One of the best pubs around.

Had awake here today for a family member. The landlady was fantastic couldn't do enough put on a lovely spread it was surperb delicious and plenty. We certainly will be back and recommend to family and friends. Thanks again to you and your wonderful staff.

Great pub but can I suggest you move bar stools from bar when busy,was a nuisance trying to get served last night,as 2 people sitting at bar.Bar staff were great though 👍

This pub used to be in the good pub guide. Now it wouldn't even get in the best pubs in Ewloe guide. Why they have stopped selling cask ales is beyond me. At least 6 people turned around and left because no food either. I won't be visiting them again.

Stumbled across this Pub and I'm so glad we went in, very warm welcome by the bar staff, excellent vibe as we came in. We came in originally wanting food and found a cozy spot to dine, Adam who served us was also the chef and adapted the menu to suit my wife who is Gluten Free, food was absolutely amazing so much so we had no room for dessert but had a couple of drinks. Would recommend checking them out and we will be back again in the future.

Mixed experience ordered Hunters chicken and fish and chips but no peas and salad. Hunters Chicken was really good but the fish was dreadful. Not only was it the smallest piece it was only a quarter of a piece of fish in batter broken off a d over done. The waitress offered to knock some money off the bill and apolgised as it was all they had left. It would have been ice to have been told. The staff were great it was a shame that this one thing gave such a bad experience. The meals are value for money normally I'm told.

Called into this place on the off chance and what a gem we both had the roast and it was brilliant and all freshly cooked. Also the place was spotless

Waited an hour for food, one poor girl working bar and serving food during a busy evening. Multiple items not available and you only find out when ordering. Most of the menu is different variations of chicken. Owners clearly don't care for customer experience, avoid.

Hot, fresh, reasonably priced, incredible tasting food, drinks good price too, great ambience!

Very good. Had a delicious meal here. Place was spotless inside. Will definitely be going again at some time.

The Crown has had a a new design. It looks much better than it did.

Very disappointing. Food was awful, I mean it was really bad. My partner ordered a ciabatta sandwich, that arrived not toasted or had butter. I ordered the loaded fries, that arrived with not real cheese but American slices on top. Everything was covered in balsamic vinegar (I think that was to try and distract attention from how pitiful the food looked, but ended up making it worse 🤣). That, coupled with very poor customer service from a waiter that liked to spend most of the day on an electronic device. The chef was more interested in filling his own face and acting laddish around the kitchen, it took nearly thirty minutes to make these "meals". Needless to say, we will not be returning for food to this establishment, considering the cost £13 without drinks. However, this place is certainly worthy of an appearance on a TV program where Gordon Ramsey is the host, you know, the one that he does makeovers and calls the staff delusional. From me, The Crown and Liver is a big "woooops"!

Great atmosphere food and service

It would have been easier to say what they actually had, rather than what they had run out of. The poor bar girl was drowning between serving drinks during a football match, taking food orders, and serving all the food. When the food came it was fairly mediocre, and the deserts were straight out of a pack, and not worth the calories (which is the measure of a good dessert). I'd give this a miss for food, and pop in for a pint instead.

It was really great to be there, good beer n tasty food.

Best pub for miles. Very accommodating. We went in thinking we'd have a meal but soon realised that Monday is a night they don't usually serve food. Nevertheless the landlord soon changed his mind about that and offered us a menu. The fish and chips were excellent. A decent pint of Wainwrights to go with it.

Went for a meal last night, food was average, my fish was dry and heavily battered, chips were disappointing ( didn’t eat them) peas were fragments in lots of water( didn’t eat them) everyone else in our party had burgers and seemed ok, we asked for the dessert menu but the staff never came back for the order, again disappointing, the drinks kept flowing when you could get eye contact with the staff, certainly wouldn’t visit again or recommend

Very friendly and accommodating, reasonably priced meals and drinks. We had the 3 x starters (£15) and we did enjoy them and average sized portions. The loaded chips had plently of peppers (various) onions, cheese etc much better than many places where we have seen them. Enlcosed outer garden. We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and some of their regulars.

I visited this pub on 18 July 2021 . My review is on trip advisor if you want the full details . Basically I ordered a meal for my sons birthday . Made to pay prior to meal . Then given 30 mins eat it . Told we couldn't have a dessert or drinks as the landlord who was away had suddenly told his staff to close at 7pm!!!! By the sound of it the staff had been asked to stay longer but already had childcare commitments etc ... The landlords response to my review was that his staff should have informed us prior to ordering . Not sure how , when they didn't know . How embarrassing !!! Really felt bad that the staff had been left in such an awful position and take alI the **** from customers . I can't pop on for a refund as live 50 miles away !!!! ITS YOUR PUB STOP BLAMING OTHERS .

Went for a Sunday dinner, worst pub dinner I've ever had. Carrot tastes of curry, cauliflower wasn't cooked, Yorkshire pudding was cold. Never go there again and wouldn't recommend it.

It’s 19.28 on Sunday July 18th. We have just been asked to leave the pub because the staff have been informed by the missing landlord (away in Anglesey for the night) that the pub was closing at 7. We booked our meal at 5.15 to eat at 6. Nothing mentioned about early closing. The young waitress was lovely… however before we knew what was going on, we did think it was strange that we were asked to pay at the end of each order… so after the first round of drinks, after ordering food but before it was served. You get the idea. Once the regulars made us aware of what was going on, the penny dropped. The poor girl (who is only 17) and the two older staff shouldn’t have to be listening to your regulars telling them how they won’t spend another <insert several swear words> penny here ever again. Clearly the regulars were upset and venting their frustration. For your staff to be almost in tears because they are in the firing line probably sums the whole situation and the where landlords priorities are…I asked for your mobile number, your chef said he didn’t feel comfortable to give it out. The food was good, the portions large, it was going very well, however my children felt they had to rush and are disappointed at not being able to finish with dessert. If I had paid by card, I would get my money back, if I was presented with a bill at the end, I wouldn’t have paid, you could have my mobile number and rang me and asked for your payment. I would have enjoyed that phone call… I am clearly under the impression that you are a fantastic boss, in fact I am sure I would love to work for you. Leaving a 17 year old girl to handle that is a disgrace. For the record we spoke with your staff respectfully and assured them, that we have no issue with them or their service…they told us the back story of the staff shortage. Thanks for ruining our meal and I hope you had a great night in Anglesey…

We recently spent a weekend in chester for my sons birthday . This pub was local to where we were staying so we thought we would have a Sunday roast here . We booked in advance and arrived about 6 . We had a drink and ordered our meal . The bar staff 2 girls were lovely and great with the customers . However I over heard someone at the bar saying they were closing at 7pm !!! We had only just started our meal . One by one annoyed looking customers started to leave . I asked one of the staff if this was true and she said yes it was . The landlord had told them to close. We couldn't order a dessert or even finish our drink !!! We hurried our meal . I asked to speak to the landlord but was told he was in Anglesey for the day . Convenient !!! Poor poor staff , one was only 17 had to deal with all of this !!! I was digusted and felt cheated . I would have not paid but had been asked to pay prior to the meal . Totally ruined my sons birthday. Thanks a lot !!! I would be interested to hear from the landlord and even offered a refund . The landlord obviously has no respect for his staff or customers . I'm surprised he has any staff left !!! WHAT A JOKE !!! Hope he had a lovely day cause all the stsff and customers in his pub didn't . I wait for your response !!!! If I get one . LOL.

The food was so tasty and the staff so welcoming. However, our meal was spoiled by a group of men by the bar who were very drunk, very loud, very choice language. There was an altercation at one point and we just felt really uncomfortable. Its a shame eating area cant be separated by a dividing wall from the drunks at the bar. We ate out meal and left quickly and moved on to a more civilized pub down the road.

Went for burger nite ordered a double stack with cheese. Burger was too hot to eat , it was full of chillies, it's was not on the menu that all burgers are made with chillies . I don't do hot chillies ever, you couldn't bring the family for burger night. Disaster.

Great afternoon at the Crown 👑 staff were polite and always there when our glasses emptied, food, we had grazers, was tasty if I could change one thing it would be the tacky plastic red baskets it came in (minor detail I know) but will definitely go back again ☆

Had an amazing experience here again today the service and food where exceptional, I had a ham roast and i couldn’t believe the veg was cooked to order and the gravy is so flavourful! My partner spotted a family dining outside that all ordered subs/ciabattas so opted for one himself the rocket and prime beef with a side of roasties and piggies and wow the portion size and taste amazing, never had a bad meal and the staff can’t be helpful enough and so cheery, I like the way the veg is also served in a separate bowl so you help yourself, we’ll be back soon can’t recommend enough

We were staying at the Village Hotel up the road. Having eaten there on the Friday (& food not great), we booked a table for 6 (4 adults, 1 teen & 1 child) for an evening meal at the Crown & Liver, a short walk away. Very nice pub with attractive decor. Food was very good & enjoyed by all. The welcome was warm & I was very impressed with the 2 young servers allocated to our table, quick, accurate & friendly.

We found this by chance whilst staying at the village hotel, we went for a walk to look for the local train station, We popped in for a drink, felt very safe, the Covid procedures put in place were very reassuring, we initially had drinks but did book for the following evening on the burger night, the food was great. I believe that they have special nights, the evening we ate it was 2 burgers for £15. Both were very tasty , if we stayed in the area agin we would definitely use again for drinks and food, well done all

He went this morning with a friend to the Crown and Liver for their newly added breakfast menu.Now they’ve been to a lot of local venues for breakfast over the last few years, but they both agreed this is one of the best if not the best! Lovely food, a good choice, and a good selection of hot drinks. Very friendy and helpful landlord, we hope he does well here, he deserves it.I’m intending to go for lunch in the week, it’s great to see a local pub making a comeback.

I had a steak it was 2 for £20 ,the steak was a good size with onion rings ,peas ,broccoli, snap peas ,fried tomatoes and loads of chips ,the onion rings and the steak were to die for absolutely gorgeous ,couldn't fault the meal or the service, well done Gareth

What a lovely little find this was! The bar has a fantastic range of alcoholic drinks and none alcoholic available including fresh made latte, cappuccino ect witch is a big yes yes for us as we love a latte after a meal, as for the meal we had the salt and pepper chicken & honey chicken very well presented and very tasty followed by two hand battered cod and mushy peas! Chefs own tartare and in-house ale to make the batter delicious!! The staff are so well presented and polite couldn’t do enough for us, the beer garden has artificial grass and rattan furniture looks fantastic unfortunately due to the typical welsh rain we never sat outside but the shelter back area was decked so winner winner, will definitely return and have recommended to a lot of people

Lovely visit to our local pub, we have been there for drinks since it changed hands (only a few months ago) but this was the first time we have eaten there. The food was very tasty, good size and well priced, would recommend to any one. The new team are always friendly and welcoming. We will be back

Went in for some food after a long walk for the dog. Got served quickly and the staff and locals are so friendly! Go quite often for a few drinks on the weekend, really enjoy it and it's improved a lot since being taken over!

I recently visited the Crown & Liver and was greeted with a warm welcome! With all safety measures in place in regards to the social distancing guidelines including track and trace, table booking systems, etc which were strictly adhered to which gave me a strong sense of safety. I cool atmosphere that the pub gives off with a nice cozy beer garden where you can relax while having a drink by the flame heaters. There’s also a large variety of food which is prepared & cooked to a high standard and drink to chose from! Thanks to Gareth & his team for making it an enjoyable experience for me.
