It was our 22nd wedding anniversary and booked for our meal. The food took ages to come out and although the steak was beautiful didn't expect french fries. The price you pay would expect a better chip. Dissapoited

The pub is an eclectic mix of traditional and quirky. We were given a warm welcome with our two dogs. The food was amazing. We had the Meze Platter to start. Then a Oyster Mushroom Burger and a Beef Burger, both with proper chunky chips. It was delicious. We will definitely be going back there.

To be honest not really impressed. A table for nine turned out to be a table for six with three squeezed on until it was pointed out the elves were all helping Santa and not turning up. I had the smallest pie ever made and a tiny amount of mash under the menu heading 'big plate' at 20£; just enough to feed an average 12 year old lad. EDIT - In answer to your answer I did raise it and was told it was a set plate.

Haven't been for few years. Food was lovely, couldn't fault it, menu choices were great, staff were lovely, loved the decor, warm. My only gripe was the cost it's overpriced, e.g. £14 for a large wine? Too much that, and £5 for a small portion of chips, again overpriced, I'd come again but not soon due to the prices.

We booked a space at The Glynne Arms for our very small handfasting celebration. The space was cosy, the fireplace on and it was made welcoming and private. The food was good, and the service was excellent. It was definitely the right choice for us, and we feel that our guests were well attended to during the event. Thank you so much for making our special day such a lovely experience. No rush, no stress and excellent communication and prices. Highly recommended.

As vegetarians, we have never been disappointed by the quality of food at the Glynne, this visit was no exception. We had the choice on the new menu, and chose the Pumpkin and chanterelle risotto, which was delicious. We always appreciate the quality and presentation of the vegetarian options and true to form , the risotto ticked our boxes! Our thanks to the chef on both main and puddings ! The service from the start to the end of our visit was excellent, again our thanks to the young man who looked after us, explaining our choices of main and pudding. It was a busy evening , but that did not deter our service or attention. We will definitely be back to try other veggie options, both mains or snacks, the new menu is a hit for us veggies!!

We popped in on the off chance on Sunday, that we'd be able to get a table, we spoke to a lovely lady called Kelly, she explained that there would be a bit of a wait as we hadn't booked, as we weren't in a rush we didn't mind. As soon as a table became available Kelly took us to our table and apologised again for the wait. We both ordered the Sunday roast, which we did have to wait for, however, once it arrived it was lovely. Would definitely visit again.

We called in for a pub lunch on Wednesday at about 1pm. We spent 10 minutes choosing from the menu, both opting for a ham and tomato sandwich. We were then informed that there was no ham. My friend then chose the soup of the day, broccoli and stilton, and I chose the cheese toastie. After a 40 minute wait, I asked if there was a delay and was told that the chef was making the soup from scratch. What? At lunch time? Ridiculous! My toastie arrived with the soup. Two thick slices of toast with a thin layer of cheese and a few crisps. It was incredibly dry and almost impossible to swallow - £8 - ridiculous! The barman was very casual and did not apologise for our wait - almost an hour! Very disappointed. Won't be back.

Dog friendly there are two pubs open in the village, this is the high end with high end prices. The beer is very good, I found the wine really expensive but that could just be me, I rarely buy wine in a pub. 2 large glasses of white came in at £18. The menu is small but perfectly formed if you like what is on it. The food excellent but quite pricey. Surrounding are well done and comfy, there is blankets if you are a bit cold, shouldn't be in June but it is the UK in 20024. Staff were lovely Dog was made a fuss of , there is a selection of water bowls and a treat jar. Didn't visit the beer garden, it was too chilly on the days we visited.

I agree with the other comments regarding the customer service, it was very slow and the staff weren’t very attentive. The roast was nice but not the best, very thin gravy, just boiled veggie and the roasties tasted a bit stale. The beef and yorkshires were lovely however. Been refreshed / redecorated recently and food is consistently brilliant. Dinner this evening was great. The only downside again is dog owners, allowing their dogs on the tables and furniture. I have no real problem with dogs, but the pub should have a sign and enforce prevention of dogs being all over the dining seating / eating areas. Should be banned entirely from restaurant area. Gross. We love the Glynne. Hate dogs being allowed on dining / seating areas.

Fantastic!!! After a long walk we had booked a table but we were early and had decided to bring one of our dogs along. No problem quick drink at the bar and we where shown to our table in a very dog friendly part of the pub. This is not a traditional looking pub it's very quirky and has a unique charm about it. We had starters pate and smoked haddock arancini with peas and poached egg. The pate along with bread and chutney was great and my arancini was out of this world one of the nicest starters I've had for a long time. We then had burger and roast beef sirloin both dishes where amazing. All served by very nice friendly happy attentive staff which let's alot of places down but not here. They have a very good and indie selection of beers which is nice to see instead of your usual you know estrella peroni moretti. We have several favourite pubs we visit in cheshire North Wales and wirral this one has most definitely joined that list at the top. Bravo and we'll see you again very soon.

My friend and I booked a meal last night and arrived promtly for our booking at 7pm. Unfortunately, we were not served our main meal until after 9pm. The staff stated that a Valentine booking had arrived late, which was not our problem. We tried to cancel our mains order after waiting for 1hr 50 mins, however the person we spoke to said it was just being plated up - we waited another 10 mins for the meals to arrive. When asked if we would come back again our answer was a firm NO. We are both in the catering business and were disappointed with the whole night because of the speed of food service. No reduction in our bill for the inconvenience.

The food here was really good. Let down by the service. We had to ask for our drinks after the starter arrived, we had to ask for Toast with the pate - the server didn't know if it came with it or not. Roast beef dinner was the best we have had for miles around though. We asked for dessert menus which we then had to ask for again after 15 minutes. We eventually ordered ten minutes or so later, and then decided to get the bill after 20 minutes when the desserts never arrived, we did get soup spoons though as apparently that's all they had. I imagine there were dessert spoons somewhere but it was probably easier to just give soup spoons as it saved them having to leave their chit chat to go and find them. There were a couple of efficient staff behind the bar but the floor staff, of which there were plenty just stood chatting and drinking by the coffee machine ignoring everything that was going on. Such a shame, especially as the food is really good. If you can't offer efficient table service then just adjust your offer so customers can order at the bar. Customers don't mind paying a fair price for good food if the service is good too. Its not hard. It seemed the place wasn't managed tonight maybe it was just a bad day but puts you off a revisit when this is already the second time we have had this experience.

Six of us went for a meal just before Christmas. A very disappointing experience with both service & food. Discussed with member of staff at the time but no real apology or resolution. Emailed the manager (had to follow up 2 weeks later for a response). Glad to hear they’d address staff training issues but disappointed with their response to food issues. Six dishes over 3 courses were not good (under/over cooked, cold etc) and the response was that we should have sent them back to the kitchen. I think an issue with one dish is acceptable but 6 dishes?!! Emailed again questioning their response to the food issues…2 weeks later & still awaiting a response (again I have followed up to prompt a reply…but nothing). Would definitely not recommend for food - maybe nice place for a drink. Going out for a meal at the moment is a real treat with cost of living etc so feel really cheated by our experience at the Glynne Arms

The waiting time was approx 40 minutes. The scotch egg, as it was ham hock, had a sinewy texture which really wasn’t nice. The cappuccino was hastily made and didn’t taste good. The young staff have clearly been thrown in the deep end without proper training. Coming from someone who’s worked in hospitality, this is really not fair on them. They are usually trying their best and want to provide good customer service. If management are going to leave teenage staff responsible for an entire restaurant/pub, they need to treat them with respect and train them.

Unbelievable £6 a pint for something called Victoria lager. I know prices have gone up, but that’s city Centre prices. Check prices before you buy. Won’t be coming again in a hurry.

Lovely building with tons of nice artwork and antique decorations. Food was sublime the lamb rump with lamb shoulder croquette was absolutely divine.

2nd time we've visited and again not disappointed. Fantastic food, friendly staff and lovely welcoming environment. The pies are amazing, the chips to die for and dont get mr started on the desserts. Highly recommended and already planning our next visit. Thanks everyone for another wonderful evening. 👌😍

Ate at the Stamford gate at around 1600 having traveled from down south to see a friend The next morning at around 0530 woke up to vomiting and the other one Having only had 2 slices of toast previous to this meal I was straight away told food poisoning as the vomiting wouldn’t stop and I could hold anything down I had sweet chilli chicken starter and fish for main. My parthner is a nurse and told me that it seemed to be food poisoning I was driving back down south or supposed to be that day however my parthner had to drive 4hrs I was sick multiple times along the way Finally going to see a doctor as that’s what the place advised and told that it was food poisoning as at this point it had been 14hrs or so and was finally starting to be able to hold fluids down but not food The staff in the restaurant seemed to brush it off when confronted and said there had been a bug going around however from full health to not holding anything down, in maybe 12hrs and a gp suggesting they believed it to be food poisoning I think there response was not service Wouldn’t recommend stay away from the fish 👍🏼 unless you want a couple of days off work

Whilst carrying out maintenance on this place a while back, we found hidden cameras in the toilets… I wouldn’t recommend visiting unless that’s your thing!!

I have always had fond memories of a warm atmosphere and friendly staff in the past, but I was incredibly disappointed with how rude the staff was tonight. I walked in to find a lot of people sat at the bar- okay, this cannot be helped, but staff had no clue someone new had approached the bar (in fairness she was alone, but I was dressed pretty uniquely in comparison to what I can only assume is the regular clientele). I was served and sat down quietly. My partner joined a little later and I purchased his drink as he entered. First drinks went down a treat and my partner bought the second round. He tasted his Guinness and wasn’t happy. Being a barmaid myself, I tried his drink and agreed something wasn’t right. I went back to the bar to make the staff aware of this. It wasn’t a complaint- I know that when the end of the barrel is close, the drinks occasionally taste off. From previous experience, the drink is either replaced, or an alternative offered (as I mentioned before, I am also a barmaid). Instead, the staff insisted there was nothing wrong despite not tasting it themselves and, quite rudely in front of a rather full pub, pointed out that many people were drinking Guinness. I would have accepted if she’d checked that the barrel was 1. In date and 2. Wasn’t empty/near end, but she refused to leave her post and continued to essentially belittle me. I returned to my partner feeling rather small and sheepish. He didn’t finish his drink, which he’d paid nearly £5 for (this is a village pub, not flipping London) and we left shortly after. Bitterly disappointed as I was looking forward to being reunited with a warm and welcoming pub.
