Absolutely thrilled with our decision to host our wedding at the Rhos Fynach Tavern! From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of magical. This beautifully restored 12th-century monastery, steeped in history and located just across the road from the beach in Rhos-on-Sea, provided the most enchanting backdrop. We and our guests were captivated by its rustic charm and the stunning coastal views, especially from the lovely upstairs function room. It truly felt like a unique and picturesque venue, making for unforgettable photos and memories. But what truly made the Rhos Fynach stand out was the incredible team. Justin was instrumental in the planning stages, guiding us with his expertise and ensuring every detail was considered, from the bespoke menu options to the flow of the day. On the day itself, Tony and Kim seamlessly ran everything, ensuring a flawless and stress-free experience. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were evident every step of the way. They listened to all our ideas, offered invaluable suggestions, and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran perfectly. The food was absolutely delicious; our guests couldn't stop talking about how much they enjoyed every dish, and there was certainly plenty to go around! The bar service was efficient and friendly, too. We felt completely supported and relaxed throughout the entire process, allowing us to truly enjoy every moment of our wedding. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines breathtaking beauty, a sense of history, exceptional service, and a truly memorable atmosphere, look no further than the Rhos Fynach. We couldn't recommend it more highly!

It was my husbands birthday, we felt we were shoved into a corner as there was only us rwo, we had to put up with a very noisy wedding group standing behind our table. Lots of tables were also shown in and got rhere food way before we did. When ours came my husbands wa OK, but my salmon was so over cooked, I think they put it in the deep fat frier, I could not eat it it, it was that bad. We were offered a dessert and we only had to pay for drinks, I ordered a caramel waffle which was so tough I left most of it. I do not like complaining but this birthday meal was a total disaster.

The tables by the bar,walkway and ice cream should not be used for food,and when you sit there you can't get your legs under the tables.As for when you have a private function on it's also not acceptable for them to be standing around other paying guests tables shouting at the top of their voice's, as that's what's went on on last night's visit, therefore I will not be returning to this mayhem again, it's a shame because food is not to bad.

Called in today after being let down by another placed having booked a table. Very friendly staff and the Sunday lunch was excellent. Will definitely recommend to others if they are in the area.

Visited last night 24th may bank holiday weekend, prebooked table, so wish i didn't go, was sat right by the bar at a table that was impossible to get legs under, ordered food and drinks which were fine, but the all hell broke out, a very loud noisy wedding party came from the function room to the bar talk about loud,we couldn't here ourselves speak, people constantly shouting and practically on our table, people getting ice cream from the freezer right next to our table, got so fed up of being disturbed, couldn't wait to leave .will not return again.I tnink you need to respect all your paying guests not just your money making functions, as we tried this pub before to be told they were closed for food due to function going on, so wish this had of been the case last night

Had a great Sunday roast. Good value fast service and lovely staff.

Stumbled across this place whilst looking for crazy golf. Decided to pop in to eat and wasn't disappointed. Beautiful 11th century inn filled with character inside. We ordered food to the table we chose outside, the wasn't long and we were entertained by the thrushes and songbirds that lived in the ivy on the walls. Food was excellent and good portion size. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be visiting again. We didn't bother with the golf

Lovely friendly pub,even when busy with a funeral 1 day and a wedding party the next day we went in.Live music on sunday too...we loved it! Oh and mini golf!

We called in for refreshments after a walk along marine drive. Super dog friendly and they even have a menu of food for our furry family members. I just wish I'd been hungry because the food looked great.

Great venue with excellent outside space which is well protected from hungry seagulls. Just thought it was a little bit on the pricey side.

We parked on the coast road and were walking towards the shops and I noticed an old roof and a sign, you couldn't see a pub..but it was a hot day so we called in for a pint. Service was quick and efficient. Good choice of beers.. We walked back up to the benches at roof level as you get better views there.

I popped in here after walking from Penrhyn Bay via the sightseeing bus from Llandudno. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had the Cod Goujons starter which were hot and tasty! Cracking couple pints of Shipyard IPA too. Will see you again!

Had 2 lovely breakfast baps. Fresh tasty and packed full of bacon sausage and egg - delicious. Staff are so friendly too. This pub caters for everyone and you can choose to eat inside or out. Bit rainy rainy and cold today but no problem as the inside is lovely, stone walls, beams in traditional surroundings but spotlessly clean and welcoming.

The pub itself looked good and was clean but the food was almost inedible. I ordered scampi which turned out to be almost empty pockets of breadcrumb with tiny bits of prawn inside which had not been deveined! My daughter had chicken which she said tasted like reconstituted meat. We certainly won't be paying another visit. To add insult to injury I was presented with a bill for 5 meals when there was only two of us 😱

An amazing dog friendly lunch spent hear. The foods great, but it's the staff that really make this place great. You'll feel welcome from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave

Poor service and even worse food. The piri piri chicken tasted off the scampi that my mum had were not good either. We tell the bar person that we were unable to eat it no reduction in price. So in the end we paid £30+ for just eating the chips as the rest was left on our plate. Will never eat here again that’s for sure!

I took my mother in law to this excellent venue and she thoroughly adored it. The staff are so friendly, it is pet friendly so the dog could come as well. The food is exquisite and the service is perfect. It is an old world sort of place with low beams and subdued lighting which makes it very atmospheric but not good for tall people.

Absolutely beautiful little pub, me and my partner came to stay in a hotel tye night before not far from this pub and decided to stop off for lunch before our couple hour drive home. We was served by a lovely women I think could have been the landlady, she took our food and drink order and a man shown us to a table and came over and wiped it for us. Food came out hot fresh and beautiful tasting we went for the ale pie, mash and veg. Was delighted with the over all food, service and price. The area was lovely and the pub was a gem find will definitely return again. Thankyou.

It was a delight to find a pub selling Welsh beer called England!! It was quite a nice session pint. The food was very nice, and we had excellent service too despite a bit of ribbing about a Welsh beer being made for the English in Wales. Defo worth a visit

Beautiful pub, real fires, dog friendly, friendly staff. Unfortunately our food, although nicely presented wasn’t the best as the gammon was so salty. I should have mentioned it straight away, as I am sure we would have been offered an alternative, but I did mention at the end and the staff were very apologetic and offered us a free desert, both of the puddings were lovely. Had we chosen different items from the menu, this may have been a 5 star review, so I would try again as everything else was great. Unfortunately we were on a mini break, so didn’t get the opportunity to give the pub another go. The pub was very busy, so I think we were just unlucky.

A fire glowing on a screen isn't enough to warm the room, central heating or a log fire would have been better.

Fantastic little pub, Chris the landlord is a real character and all the staff are very friendly, lovely atmosphere, they don't really do food, but a great place to have a drink overlooking the harbour at Rhos on Sea.

Dropped in for lunch on a sunny Saturday in Feb. Made very welcome, waited a couple of minutes for a table. Quick service. Tasty food. Fish just a little greasy but it didn't stop me eating every scrap.

Last Christmas, we had a beautiful Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. We were seated in the little nook part of the pub. We enjoyed ourselves and the food so much, we decided in July to book again for this Christmas Day. We paid the deposit, put a request to be seated in the Nook again. We went back to pay the balance in November and they confirmed again that we would be seated in the Nook. This was slso confirmed in an e mail. What a disappointment and shambles! We arrived to be greeted by a lady in a red jumper. She took our names and told us that we would be seated in the restaurant part. We informed her that we had requested the Nook. She said that we were in the restaurant and that was that, nothing she could do about it. She really didn’t care. We were shown to the table in the restaurant, there was a reservation card on the table with the original table number ( presumably in the nook) on it with a line through it and changed to this table. Someone had been given our table obviously. Anyway, the food was ok, but it lacked a Christmas dinner feel, no mash or parsnips, just very basic. We had to ask for cranberry sauce and mustard. Out of the seven tables in the restaurant part, we heard the poor overworked ( but very nice and pleasant) waiter having to apologise for something or other . One child’s meal from one table was returned. There were two ladies behind us, one had eaten her roast dinner before the other lady had had hers. She offered t o go to the kitchen to sort out her own dinner. They weren’t happy. We have been regular customers throughout the year and have always had good food and good service, but today was a complete disappointment and disaster. The attitute of the woman in the red jumper was the worst part. She ruined the day for us. She had a non caring smirk on her face. Anyway, we won’t be back next Christmas. It’s not worth the risk especially when paying £79 each. I doubt that some of the others there today will be back too.

Fantastic pub and super dog friendly! We enjoyed some family time here and the dog was welcome wherever we were. They even have water bowls, dog treats and a dog menu. We all had a lovely evening meal of gammon and chips, peri peri chicken and salad and super tasty burgers. Would definitely come here again.

Starter mushroom's must of been cooked in cold oil as it was oily and un edible!

The food and service was very good. What let it down was having to drink it down with pepsi max. I hate being put in a position of either having to walk out or put up with a drink I detest because they don't sell full sugar soft drinks on tap; but in small bottles which would cast a fortune. (I drove a distance to go there which is why it was soft drinks only) Surely it should be an option for the customer to choose! Coincidence they sell full fat deserts?

The food was excellent but I've given it 4 stars because we went on the Friday evening and because we hadn't booked they couldn't serve us even though there was hardly any one dining and there was no reserved on any of the other tables which were not set up for anyone. But we wasn't put off, we booked for Saturday evening. The above was my last visit, this time was totally different. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the meal was very good and I have revised my opinion.

A really nice old fashioned pub just off the sea front. We only stopped for a quick drink I had a pint of IPA and the wife a diet coke to my surprise it was £9.65 so we only had the one drink. A very nice large beer garden with plenty of outside seating.

Ate here yesterday evening, the staff member who served us was really lovely ( reddish hair?) didn’t catch her name. She was very helpful checking with chef which meals i could eat due to allergies. The vegan lasagne was gorgeous! Thanks chef! Will look forward to popping in again👍

A fabulous venue for your party. We held our silver wedding anniversary party last night and can't fault it from initial enquiry to walking away after a fabulous do. Food was excellent, venue is full of character, not too posh to feel at home but everything you could want. Thank you Justin Kim and all the staff who helped make our special night so much fun. We would highly recommend this place for any occasion. Fabulous location on Rhos prom a stone's throw from the beach with a park behind is a bonus.

This is a lovely old pub in Rhos on Sea, Conwy! It's very old having been a monastery at one time! The staff are very friendly and helpful! Good choice of local real ale, but does other drinks! Food is delicious and freshly cooked so takes a bit longer to arrive but well worth it!! We've had the fish and chips in there as well as there own burger which is homemade and my husband had the pie, also homemade, with chips as mash had already run out is the dish is popular!! The pub is also dog friendly and they have their own menu!!

From the moment we walked in to pub we were greeted by a very professional gentleman who gave me and my wife a nice warm welcome..and the food we ordered was excellent my steak and ale pie was one of the best l have tasted also the lady that served us was very pleasant and made a big fuss of our dog sorry we didn't catch your names but we had a great time many thanks from Mike and Chris also Saxson the big black dog.

Unlike Gareth (below) I’ll keep this short and sweet as we have more important things to do than write a War & Peace length review! Came with my partner and dog for drinks and a meal, we were sat in a lovely cozy area, drinks ordered and delivered to the table, we wanted a prawn cocktail starter but was on the menu as just sandwiches, it was fine, they made us what we wanted - brilliant. Mains were freshly cooked and delicious. Service from both women servers was fantastic too. Our dog was also fussed and made to feel super welcome - she loved the doggy sausage. Yes, we were given one menu between two of us, fortunately we quite like eachother so we’re happy to share! You could of course ask for more menus should you wish! All In all a lovely couple of hours in the restaurant, Thankyou.

Amazing food . The staff are lovely also management . We had the steak and ale pie also fish and chips and a chicken burger. This was the best meal we have had in a very long time . We highly recommend that everyone should try this place and take along your pooch . Pooch menu is also available.

My wife and I had our first date at this restaurant. It was so good we considered having our wedding here. So disappointed with our visit on Saturday. It was my wife’s birthday and I thought let’s revisit our first date location for a nice meal. I placed a booking online and requested a low traffic area away from noise and the bar. I told my wife that morning where we were going and we looked at the menu online over breakfast and planned what we were going to have. We arrived promptly to be greeted by a lady who pointed randomly and said our table was on the left… hmmm. Well; she was right it was on the left, a mere few metres from the bar. Right next to a table for 8. Clearly it was noisy and although there wasn’t a huge amount of traffic it was not a pleasant place to sit. Another member of staff behind the bar had to clarify where we were sitting because by the time we were near to the table the woman was busy serving someone else and had completely forgotten about us. Next the menu arrived. No spelling error there was one menu to share between two people which just made things awkward. But there’s more- this isn’t the menu they have online; what I wanted wasn’t there. By now I was getting very frustrated and I had to bite my tongue for my wife’s sake because I didn’t want to spoil her birthday. I did challenge this when the server came and to his credit he asked what I had seen and said it wasn’t a problem, I could have what I wanted. Brilliant! A positive and all credit to him for sorting this. The food arrived and to be fair was very good. I have no complaints with the quality of the food and all credit to the kitchen staff for that. We finished our mains and asked for a dessert menu. Once again only 1 arrived. I was going to order a waffle with ice cream and my wife was just going to have another glass of wine. However, by the time our server returned we just wanted to leave because he took so long to come back to us. He wasn’t serving he just disappeared. Anyway; we got the bill and were told we needed to go to the bar to pay. The first challenge was getting past the staff and the people they knew who were gathered in the bar and blocking the exit. The staff were too engrossed to see us and even when they did just didn’t bother about us. We were completely ignored in favour of laughing and joking with friends. Finally the server went to the bar, spotted us stuck in the throng and pointed towards the end of the bar where the till was. I pushed through making sure my wife could get through, paid and left. I did still tip the server. He let us down once and we don’t know the circumstances why so I gave him the benefit of the doubt but I didn’t tip what I planned to. I have to say, as local people who have visited this restaurant many times in the past (admittedly not as much recently) this experience was extremely disappointing. We planned to have our wedding here and I’m so glad we didn’t now because this is not the place it once was. And if you read this Rhos Fynach please know that without that server this would have been a 1* for ignoring our booking request completely, for providing too few menus, for having a completely different menu online with no explanation and for your staff being ignorant to your customers. I sincerely hope you read this, commend your one server (male, reddish hair, very young), and I really hope you sort your booking system and staff out. You used to be an amazing place and I’d rather go to table table, pay less and get better service.
