What a wonderful and relaxing establishment. Historic and a local landmark. Also a hotel and the interior has a cosy, olde Inn feel.. I have visited on many occasions as a local. Great staff, somewhat overstretched, but They try their very best. Visited today for lunch and I'm afraid they let themselves down again. Within half an hour I'd ordered the same meal as my friend. Mine contained a dump of salad leaves and a tiny pot of coleslaw alongside my chilli and jacket potato. My friend, however, received a mixed salad with a balsamic drizzle, four portions of butter( I hadn't even ordered mine) and a good dollop of coleslaw! How can a meal differ in such a short space of time? I've had good and I've had not so good. Pay the same price and expect the same quality. Really disappointed tonight, inconsistent with no explanation.

Thank you so much to everybody at the Guildhall! I booked for a large party to come for a 3-course meal as our works Christmas do. The communication with the Guildhall was excellent throughout the booking process. The pre-order and payment process was easy. The food was fantastic. People ordered a mixture of 1, 2 or 3 courses and there was not one complaint from anybody. One of the pre-ordered meals should have been gluten free however it was not clear for the kitchen staff on the pre-order form. When it was realised, they corrected the issue right away so the gluten free member of the party could still eat her meal with everyone else. On the night, one member of the partner was unwell so couldn’t attend. The staff ensured this food was not sent out and it was not on the bill. At the end of the night, I was dreading the bill as we had a big party which is often difficult when eating out, but everything was correct! Not a single mistake making payment an easy process. Great value for money, service and experience. We will be back next year!

First 4 meals took 50 minutes to arrive, and 10 minutes for 4 more, one of which was in correct so had to be re made so another wait. Then 2 remaining arrived after 1 hour 20. By then 3 had finished their meals ! We had money off bill and 3 free drinks burger undercooked (the remade one) Disappointed as head good things but with an empty place and pre orders I don’t see what it’s was such a wait

Historically, this was the Bull. There's a great deal of history in this building on Denbigh square (rectangle actually). Room complete with slightly-sloping floors, great bed, power shower, view to the Clwyd hills, all great. Breakfast very good and coffee (machine) okay. Usually that is enough to dock a star, but staff incredibly helpful: Claire and Evan. Parking difficulties sorted by herself, return of my left-behind charger, as well as check-in and out, by himself. Again. Deff.

We had a small dog with us and due to this we were asked to sit in the snug area which was quite dark. The seating area is wooden and uncomfortable. The rest of the pub is light and airy. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was ok. My daughter loved her meal. My son had the hunter’s chicken. He said it was nice but he did not eat the cheese and bacon as it was really tough. I ordered a salad which costs over £8.00. I did not get a salad. What I did get was a few lettuce leaves and a few bits of cheese and avocado. This was dealt with immediately by the staff however it did affect our visit. It was a shame that we had to sit in the snug area. Would visit again but only for a drink.

We live in Denbigh and find ourselves searching out good restaurants all over the north wales/west area for a really good Sunday lunch with the kids. By good fortune, an ad popped up on Facebook and we stayed local for once. So glad we did. We had roast beef, our daughter had roast pork and our son had sausage chips and beans. We were told before ordering there was a large party and group of 7 in before our order so there’d be a delay which was appreciated. The smell was so delicious we knew it’d be worth waiting for. We settled in with the kids and enjoyed the atmosphere, fantastic background music and the decor is very tasteful. When food arrived, we were blown away. The beef was perfectly cooked and plentiful, whole roast carrot and parsnip, mash, roast potatoes, gigantic Yorkshire pudding, the most perfect stuffing and the gravy was a wonder in its self. Beautifully cooked green veg came out a moment later. Our daughters roast pork, a smaller child’s portion, was no less than an adults as such, it was devoured. Our sons meal was perfect for him, large serving for his size, he can be quite choosy about his sausages but loved these, did not look cheap at all. The manager and waiting on staff were friendly, conscientious, helpful and kept us informed on delays throughout. There’s a lot of love and affection in the food and the service, it’s very apparent from the front doors to the plates themselves. Beautiful meal, beautiful place, fantastic staff. We’ll definitely be back soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After being booked in by a friend and knowing nothing about the place I expected a good experience. Not only was the experience so bad that I almost had no sleep but I was offered no discount after my terrible stay: When I landed with my friends during our October stay, the bar/restaurant was so understaffed that our food took around 35 minutes. When I went to bed sometime after midnight after being in the room less than 5 minutes I noticed quite a strong smell of paint fumes. I saw that ALL of the woodwork in the room had been freshly painted! The smell was so bad that even after opening all the windows the fumes were going on my chest and stopping me from sleeping (I had about 3 hours total off and on). I knew the hotel was running at full capacity so I knew there was nothing I could do in the middle of the night. When I told the manager the next morning and asked what the hotel was prepared to do he simply said 'there was nothing he could do'. He didn't give a damn. All of this was happening as my friends and I waited almost 1 full hour to get our PREORDERED breakfasts, which were brought out one by one. An awful experience from start to finish and it ruined our weekend.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in February. The room was pleasant and clean. Unfortunately due to the old building the floor was uneven, this mean't that when laying in bed you would slowly slide towards the foot of the bed as the bed was on a slight incline. The bed itself was comfortable though and we had a good nights sleep, although on the Saturday night (to be expected I suppose), there was quite a lot of noise from the pub below. The breakfast was nice and the staff were attentive. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel as we had day trips planned. Overall, the stay was enjoyable and I would recommend it for a night or two for someone looking to explore parts of north Wales.

Five of us on a walking weekend. We stayed Friday and Saturday night on a b and b basis. The hotel is a mix of olde worlde and new with everything very clean. Nice big comfortable beds in the twin room and a new bathroom with a new power shower. I dont think I have ever received a more genuine warm welcome from anywhere i have ever stayed from the lady who greeted us and she can show anyone how to multi task. We didnt have lunch or dinner here but the F.E.B was great. We all felt it was good value for money and would certainly recommend and stay here again if in the area. The only issue is the parking which has been mentioned in other reviews. You have to go down the side of the hotel to the back of the hotel to find it and it is also the main entrance to the hotel People actually park in the narrow approach lane so I would strongly advise leaving the car at the front of the hotel and walking around the back to see if there is a space available rather then driving round the back to check and having to reverse out. If staying at the weekend then you can use the car park at the back of Barclays bank next door as everybody else does . Failing that there is a public car park two minutes walk away on the main road.

I love staying in an old building that has been lovingly restored. The Guildhall Tavern is just such a place. We had a great bedroom with authentic beams, old fireplace and bed head. On the modern side we had an onsuite bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and a hairdryer. The room was big and comfy as was the bed. The floor was a bit creeky but as the building was built in the 1600 we could forgive that. An extra was the breakfast but well worth paying for as there was many choices including a Welsh cooked breakfast which we had. It was cooked to order and was lovely. We would also thank the staff for being so helpful and friendly. The missing star was for not having food available on Sunday nights. It was the day we arrived and Denbigh doesn't have much choice when it comes to restaurants.

Room well stocked with coffee, tea, water and hot chocolate too. TV and WiFi in the room which was nice. Close to local attractions like the castle, museums and library with other things to do close by. Only trouble is parking as its a bit tight but we managed and there is a car park close by if you can't. They do need to sort that out as its not great. Breakfast was good, lots of options hot and cold. Children were allowed in the bar and the beer was good too. Staff friendly and accommodating. They even gave us 9 boxes of coco pops to take home which was a nice touch on the end. Overall very happy and had a good time.

Went for a quick meal before watching the rugby.Arrived 7 ish and it was fairly quiet.Didn't get our meals for 50 minutes, not impressed. We had burger and chips and Cajun chicken and chips, the burger was OK, the Cajun chicken was very tough. Chips and salad were good.Quite expensive, Denbigh needs a Wetherspoon's or something similar.

I came with a party of 10 for a family meal on the 15th august , our meals were just ok, we found it a bit on the steep side for what we were served , my sister had scampi and chips it was missing a little salad or anything really , i had steak it was lush but my starter of fish cakes were nothing special the apple cheesecake i had for dessert wasnt very good and my sisters sticky toffee pud was over cooked in the microwave . so an average meal with an expensive price tag .

We were staying in the area and this restaurant was recommended to us. It didn't disappoint! I had the lamb shanks all 3 visits. Others in our group had the scampi, steak, pork and burger from memory, and really enjoyed them all.

When we last visited the Guildhall a couple of years ago, the standards and quality were excellent, we were therefore really disappointed when we visited recently to find that it had not maintained these standards. We could not fault the bar staff or the waiting staff, they were excellent but they were unfortunately let down by the limited menu and substandard cooking.

We stayed here for a 2 night break recently. Room was clean and spacious. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfasts were good, and freshly cooked. We didn't eat there in the evenings but the beer was pretty good, though they only had one real ale on. Parking is limited and awkward, but car park only 300 yards away is free 5pm - 8am, and cheap anyway. Fine for a short stay.

We called here on the off chance whilst in Denbigh for a light lunch. We are local and remember ths place as The Bull Hotel and were glad that it had been refurbished and hoped for great things but we were very disappointed ! The whole place seemed tired and unloved ! I had a ciabatta which had never seen the grill and was just softy soggy bread. The chips were wrinkled and old looking. My husband had a club sandwich which looked very promising but in actual fact was almost inedible due to the fact that the chicken was rock hard and overcooked, everything seemed like last weeks goods ! I did complain to the receptionist who said she would tell the Chef. . He or she definitely needs to be told ! No wonder they like you to pay at the Bar when you order, otherwise I would have asked for a refund ! To top it all we had waited 25 minutes to get our meal! Will not recommend this place.

Stayed in the Guildhall tavern hotel for a couple of nights. The room was very spacious and clean.Good choice of cooked breakfast every morning and very tasty. The main problem is the parking spaces provided by the hotel which are only a handful behind the building with awkward access.

This was our second visit, hoping it lived up to our last experience and it did. We had an excellent room with three large windows, the biggest bed ever and a large and spacious bedroom. Breakfast was brilliant as usual, unfortunately I was a bit poorly and I was brought breakfast in bed no bother by the lovely lady (didn't catch her name) who serves the breakfast. We will be back

We live in Denbigh and go out for Sunday lunch regularly. We decided to stay local as we live 5 mins from the guildhall. The Sunday lunch was reasonably priced so we thought we'd give it a go. I had pate to start which was faultless and was really looking forward to the roast beef! The beef was terrible ! Very dry and extremely tough. The staff were very apologetic and offered us more beef which we seemed pointless as I assumed it would be from the same joint. Wish I'd had pork.

Took my family of six for a "Pre-Xmas" Xmas Dinner at the Guildhall, which consisted of three courses for less than £18 per person on. We could not believe that the place wasn't jam packed, this being the night before Christmas Eve. However a table was set for us in the main bar, everything set out beautifully. Without going into the details of what we each had, our meals were fantastic - all arriving hot and at the same time, with no cause for complaint from any of us. The young lady who served us was absolutely charming, a real credit to the hotel. Thank you all ever so much for making our night a great night - we shall all be returning as soon as we can.

surely the previous reviews are not wrong maybe last night was a bad night for the staff, maybe the size of our party (11) was too big to handle but the quality of the service and food was very disappointing and their reaction to our complaints were not taken very well. Poor show people!

The Guildhall is under new management and I had heard mixed views about it. All I can say is the Sunday lunch is fantastic. Having just completed a 5 mile walk around Denbigh Castle and over to Gwynenog (the home of Beatrix Potters Peter Rabbit) we came in search of sustenance. The Sunday roast was great value (< £10 including a pint of beer), came with a giant Yorkshire pudding and 3 different types of vegetables. Just what we needed.

Denbigh is short on places to eat in the evening. Our visit was more out of desperation than choice. The food was barely average, and it was expensive. Their one saving grace was an acceptable choice of beer at the bar.

After first seeing the Guildhall Tavern hotel/restaurant we looked around other Denbigh pubs and food outlets to see what was available. Most of the pubs were just beer/loud music/pool table offerings with little in the way of food which wasn't what we were after. So back to the Guildhall Tavern. Food, service and staff were all first class, main meals were £9.95 but you did get your moneys worth in amount and quality. Also a very interesting building in its age so plenty to read about the place and be engrossed in the building between courses. Very much recommended from our visit on Friday 5th September 2014.

We had a family get-together yesterday for Sunday lunch, and chose The Guildhall as it was central for everyone. As we were a party of 14, we pre-chose our meals from the menu on offer. The starters were ample and very, very tasty. The main meals were also a plateful and the accompanying veg was plenty for the men in the party. Some had ordered desserts, and those who wanted desserts were able to request them. The staff were very attentive, and nothing was too much trouble for themA very good Sunday lunch had by all, and will certainly be going back there. Thank you very much.
