Had booked a table for Saturday night, arrived staff not expecting us so it seemed Got some drinks and was taken to a table, after waiting 10-15 mins no one came with a menu, went to the bar to ask if we could have menus, only to be told in a very rude and abrupt manner they are on the bar get one, I was shocked by the staff’s response to me, I did snap back and tell him I wasn’t a mind reader, as he never said we could help ourselves to one, I went back to my husband and said we are going, I paid for the drinks and we left. I will not be going back again. The funny thing was another staff member was laying a table with menus and putting a reserved notice on it for someone else. Was supposed to be a nice meal out for my husband’s birthday but it was terrible. We do live locally would NOT recommend your hospitality.

We stopped in Denbeigh looking for a late lunch on way back from Snowdon. Found this gem and what can I say the service was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. Best pub food had in a very long time. Would definitely drive out from home (40 minutes) for great food and lively relaxing place.

Had a lovely visit to Denbigh Castle with the family and thought we’d finish off with a Sunday lunch before heading home. Our meal was average at best and was just luke warm, very salty and greasy. To be fair it looked like effort had been made with the presentation, but with just a small spoonful of mash, and other veg it was the Yorkshire pudding that took over the plate to make it look more substantial. At £15.95 I guess this is the going rate at today’s prices, but it was very poor value for money. We also had to ask for cutlery and whilst asking if we could have a sauce accompaniment with the meal the waiter just walked off mid sentence! Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Chose the guildhall for a roast dinner as we've been before at Christmas time and the food was lovely. Service wasn't the best at all on our visit this time. There appeared to be one lady running around doing everything (although towards the end of our meal there were lots of staff so presuming they all took their break at the same time) . Took a long time to get our drinks when we first arrived. The food came out and was disappointing compared to last time. The veg looked like it had been sat for a while and the beef had no real flavour . Such a shame as it was lovely on our last visit.

Here is history old and new. Deep in the heart of Wales in a place called Denbigh there's a tavern with an amazing history. Ask inside for details of the well. Rooms steeped in history and locals with lovely smiles and bar staff attentive to help you enjoy your day. Ot boasts accommodation a bar, private rooms and walls full of local history and curiosities There's an amazing beer garden hidden on a crop with stairs to a view you have to be sober to appreciate. I imagine it's lively in the evenings but I'd visited during the day. Along with all this is a nightclub and events area where I noticed " open mic comedy" nights . Sounds fun. Located behind the main road away from the hustle and bustle, nestled in the heart of Denbigh you'll find this diamond.

Booked a table for an evening meal with the family. We arrived and were greeted by staff behind the bar. I said we had a table booked and a girl walked out from behind the bar to where we were stood and pointed at the open doorway and told us that our table was through there. I asked her which table and she again just pointed and said through there and to the right. The doorway was about 3metres away so a little baffled as to why we couldn't just be shown to our table. The rest of our party arrived, we ordered drinks (expensive compared to prices for the same drinks in other pubs in the town) and started to walk through to find our table. I turned to the girl behind the bar and asked if someone comes to the table to take our order or if we have to come to the bar. I was told that because they are busy (if that was busy I would hate to see them on a quiet night!) we needed to order at the bar. Not a problem however I also had to ask for menus for our group as we hadn't been given any. We ordered our food and when it arrived some of us had chips that were overflowing out of the baskets they were served in whilst another in our party barely had 10. Chips were dry and overcooked. Onion rings were also missing but didn't bother to inform staff as didn't want them replaced. The food was nothing special and overpriced. Family had also visited a few weeks before and also experienced poor service and mediocre food. Met with friends later that night who said they'd been before and the food wasn't great and they wouldn't be going back. I just wished we'd known before hand. Staff were friendly enough although the customer service could do with refreshing. Menu and produce need an overhaul!

Myself and my husband decided to treat ourselves and book Easter Sunday lunch at the Guildhall. First thing we noticed was that they were charging £18 for just the main course. It was nice, but very over priced for what we actually got. We decided to have a dessert I ordered the brownie sundae. Well when it arrived, it was an absolute joke. It was served in a very small dessert glass. It was literally a few brownie crumbs in the bottom of the glass. One small scoop of ice cream, half a strawberry 🍓. This dessert was £6.00. So I asked the bar staff what they thought, had a mistake been made in the kitchen? The barman agreed that it was very small and he took it back to the kitchen I waited and waited for him to come over to tell me what was happening. The barman walked straight past us, not a word, he just went back behind the bar. My husband couldn't believe how rude he had been so went over to find out what was happening. He just blanked him at first but eventually came over to him and said " we sold loads of this dessert on mothers day and noone complained, so they are not going to do anything about my complaint " we were gobsmacked. The Guildhall was shut for a long time. It was given a new start a Manager was hired and other staff were also hired. I certainly will never step foot in the Guildhall ever again. In a society that are in crisis it needs to look after the customers or end up closed again I will give

Lovely little gem inside but unfortunately the food and service was just awful. I’ve added a picture of the steak and onion wrap I ordered. it was so small with very little filling and just taste like something from a supermarket rather than cooked fresh. The fries were vile, smelt as though they had been cooked in 6 month old oil, just cheap cooked from frozen, no flavour or effort on absolutely anything we had. You could add a topping to the fries and we went for pulled pork, it was more like pulled bbq sauce as there was more pork in a Linda McCartney sausage. We ordered one sandwich with no mayo but it came caked in mayo so had to wait for another to be made. The menu was really basic so I’m really not sure how they managed to get everything so wrong. No one came to check how our food was during in the meal and 25 minutes after we had finished we had to move our plates on to an empty table as no one came to collect them. When the food was brought to the table, the waiter knocked half a pint of Guinness over people and didn’t come back to clean it up or offer to replace the drink, we had to go and ask for a mop and buy a new drink. We were pretty annoyed we spent our money on here and wouldn’t go again.

What a wonderful and relaxing establishment. Historic and a local landmark. Also a hotel and the interior has a cosy, olde Inn feel.. I have visited on many occasions as a local. Great staff, somewhat overstretched, but They try their very best. Visited today for lunch and I'm afraid they let themselves down again. Within half an hour I'd ordered the same meal as my friend. Mine contained a dump of salad leaves and a tiny pot of coleslaw alongside my chilli and jacket potato. My friend, however, received a mixed salad with a balsamic drizzle, four portions of butter( I hadn't even ordered mine) and a good dollop of coleslaw! How can a meal differ in such a short space of time? I've had good and I've had not so good. Pay the same price and expect the same quality. Really disappointed tonight, inconsistent with no explanation.

Thank you so much to everybody at the Guildhall! I booked for a large party to come for a 3-course meal as our works Christmas do. The communication with the Guildhall was excellent throughout the booking process. The pre-order and payment process was easy. The food was fantastic. People ordered a mixture of 1, 2 or 3 courses and there was not one complaint from anybody. One of the pre-ordered meals should have been gluten free however it was not clear for the kitchen staff on the pre-order form. When it was realised, they corrected the issue right away so the gluten free member of the party could still eat her meal with everyone else. On the night, one member of the partner was unwell so couldn’t attend. The staff ensured this food was not sent out and it was not on the bill. At the end of the night, I was dreading the bill as we had a big party which is often difficult when eating out, but everything was correct! Not a single mistake making payment an easy process. Great value for money, service and experience. We will be back next year!

Historically, this was the Bull. There's a great deal of history in this building on Denbigh square (rectangle actually). Room complete with slightly-sloping floors, great bed, power shower, view to the Clwyd hills, all great. Breakfast very good and coffee (machine) okay. Usually that is enough to dock a star, but staff incredibly helpful: Claire and Evan. Parking difficulties sorted by herself, return of my left-behind charger, as well as check-in and out, by himself. Again. Deff.

We had a small dog with us and due to this we were asked to sit in the snug area which was quite dark. The seating area is wooden and uncomfortable. The rest of the pub is light and airy. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was ok. My daughter loved her meal. My son had the hunter’s chicken. He said it was nice but he did not eat the cheese and bacon as it was really tough. I ordered a salad which costs over £8.00. I did not get a salad. What I did get was a few lettuce leaves and a few bits of cheese and avocado. This was dealt with immediately by the staff however it did affect our visit. It was a shame that we had to sit in the snug area. Would visit again but only for a drink.

We live in Denbigh and find ourselves searching out good restaurants all over the north wales/west area for a really good Sunday lunch with the kids. By good fortune, an ad popped up on Facebook and we stayed local for once. So glad we did. We had roast beef, our daughter had roast pork and our son had sausage chips and beans. We were told before ordering there was a large party and group of 7 in before our order so there’d be a delay which was appreciated. The smell was so delicious we knew it’d be worth waiting for. We settled in with the kids and enjoyed the atmosphere, fantastic background music and the decor is very tasteful. When food arrived, we were blown away. The beef was perfectly cooked and plentiful, whole roast carrot and parsnip, mash, roast potatoes, gigantic Yorkshire pudding, the most perfect stuffing and the gravy was a wonder in its self. Beautifully cooked green veg came out a moment later. Our daughters roast pork, a smaller child’s portion, was no less than an adults as such, it was devoured. Our sons meal was perfect for him, large serving for his size, he can be quite choosy about his sausages but loved these, did not look cheap at all. The manager and waiting on staff were friendly, conscientious, helpful and kept us informed on delays throughout. There’s a lot of love and affection in the food and the service, it’s very apparent from the front doors to the plates themselves. Beautiful meal, beautiful place, fantastic staff. We’ll definitely be back soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After being booked in by a friend and knowing nothing about the place I expected a good experience. Not only was the experience so bad that I almost had no sleep but I was offered no discount after my terrible stay: When I landed with my friends during our October stay, the bar/restaurant was so understaffed that our food took around 35 minutes. When I went to bed sometime after midnight after being in the room less than 5 minutes I noticed quite a strong smell of paint fumes. I saw that ALL of the woodwork in the room had been freshly painted! The smell was so bad that even after opening all the windows the fumes were going on my chest and stopping me from sleeping (I had about 3 hours total off and on). I knew the hotel was running at full capacity so I knew there was nothing I could do in the middle of the night. When I told the manager the next morning and asked what the hotel was prepared to do he simply said 'there was nothing he could do'. He didn't give a damn. All of this was happening as my friends and I waited almost 1 full hour to get our PREORDERED breakfasts, which were brought out one by one. An awful experience from start to finish and it ruined our weekend.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in February. The room was pleasant and clean. Unfortunately due to the old building the floor was uneven, this mean't that when laying in bed you would slowly slide towards the foot of the bed as the bed was on a slight incline. The bed itself was comfortable though and we had a good nights sleep, although on the Saturday night (to be expected I suppose), there was quite a lot of noise from the pub below. The breakfast was nice and the staff were attentive. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel as we had day trips planned. Overall, the stay was enjoyable and I would recommend it for a night or two for someone looking to explore parts of north Wales.

Lovely old building, newly refurbished, character rooms, comfy beds - and very friendly staff. We had the room with the bathroom across the corridor and despite our reservations, it was fine and very well fitted/modern.

Comida encantadora. Porciones grandes. No tanto. Tienes todo. Opción de ensalada de patatas guisantes. Caliente y sabrosa. Bien merece una visita. Teníamos sobresaliente y cigalas. De primera clase.

Stayed here by purchasing a voucher on Living Social. Cannot fault what we had. Tavern is located right in the middle of the town (but tucked out of the way) Room was spacious and spotlessly clean and the the meal and breakfasts we had were lovely. Staff were great too. Excellent value for money.

Five of us on a walking weekend. We stayed Friday and Saturday night on a b and b basis. The hotel is a mix of olde worlde and new with everything very clean. Nice big comfortable beds in the twin room and a new bathroom with a new power shower. I dont think I have ever received a more genuine warm welcome from anywhere i have ever stayed from the lady who greeted us and she can show anyone how to multi task. We didnt have lunch or dinner here but the F.E.B was great. We all felt it was good value for money and would certainly recommend and stay here again if in the area. The only issue is the parking which has been mentioned in other reviews. You have to go down the side of the hotel to the back of the hotel to find it and it is also the main entrance to the hotel People actually park in the narrow approach lane so I would strongly advise leaving the car at the front of the hotel and walking around the back to see if there is a space available rather then driving round the back to check and having to reverse out. If staying at the weekend then you can use the car park at the back of Barclays bank next door as everybody else does . Failing that there is a public car park two minutes walk away on the main road.

A lovely old restored building in Denbigh. Went there today for lunch. Very welcoming staff. We had 2 vegetable lasagnes and a ham, egg & fries. The lasagne was very tasty and hot. There was plenty of ham which was very nice. Also good ale available.

I love staying in an old building that has been lovingly restored. The Guildhall Tavern is just such a place. We had a great bedroom with authentic beams, old fireplace and bed head. On the modern side we had an onsuite bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and a hairdryer. The room was big and comfy as was the bed. The floor was a bit creeky but as the building was built in the 1600 we could forgive that. An extra was the breakfast but well worth paying for as there was many choices including a Welsh cooked breakfast which we had. It was cooked to order and was lovely. We would also thank the staff for being so helpful and friendly. The missing star was for not having food available on Sunday nights. It was the day we arrived and Denbigh doesn't have much choice when it comes to restaurants.

Stayed at hotel and sign outside said fresh Whitby scampi so we ordered it. It was fine but straight out of freezer as were the chips and the peas. It was fine but definitely nothing special and not worth the £12 charged.Lack of atmosphere added to a less than memorable experience

Found this place by unfortunate chance after attending a funeral. The lunch menu was unimaginative but food wasn't too bad at allThere were two bar staff serving one of which just were not interested in our visit whatsoever She was abrupt, rude and unfriendly to the point as to us feeling uncomfortable, she was more interested in talking to the one other guy sat at the bar We were given our food and she disappeared without giving us cutleryI looked for the pair of them to ask for it and they had disappearedI managed to rummage round and find it myself. The younger girl was smiley and friendly Would certainly not revisit or recommend We just felt like a burden

We stayed at the Guildhall, and were happy to eat there a couple of times. The food was good quality, well presented and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful too which helped. The drinks were a bit pricey, but it didn't spoil the overall impression. Would definitely recommend.

Visited with the wife and kids for a 2 night break recently. Room was comfortable and a good size although slightly on slant for some reason. Room well stocked with coffee, tea, water and hot chocolate too. TV and WiFi in the room which was nice. Close to local attractions like the castle, museums and library with other things to do close by. Only trouble is parking as its a bit tight but we managed and there is a car park close by if you can't. They do need to sort that out as its not great. Breakfast was good, lots of options hot and cold. Children were allowed in the bar and the beer was good too. Staff friendly and accommodating. They even gave us 9 boxes of coco pops to take home which was a nice touch on the end. Overall very happy and had a good time.

Awful place! Paid £3.20 for portion of chips and upon returning home discovered they were totally under cooked and raw. Disgusting serving customers over priced unedible food which had to be thrown away. Will never return to this shop again.

Since Nigel has sold his shop the chips are awful and expensive, the ladies speak over you when you're talking which is rude , found somewhere better to get my tea from after work

Lovely food. I had The fish and chips- lovely crisp batter and triple cooked chips. Quite a large meal though. The burger came with a fresh salad and nice crispy onion rings. Everything was lovely and hot too. Dining room looks like it has recently been refurbished and was very comfortable and clean. Nice atmosphere. Well behaved dogs are welcome here too. 5 star on every thing.

Such a lovely pub, welcomes dogs inside, the kitchen manager gave the dogs such a fuss. Sunday dinner was fabulous, lovely atmosphere and a nice beer, we will definitely return x
