Chips were decent but the prices looked like they were once written in chalk and has since disappeared? Staff weren’t particularly welcoming

Disgusting staff that put there hands through there greesy hair and pick their nose ( no doubt I received in my out of date pushy peas ). 😡

Particularly unpleasant over the phone, couldn't give a damn about whom I was ordering for, thankfully there other fish and chip shops to go to in Prestatyn. Horrid behaviour!!@

How chip shops should be, freshly made battered cod, freshly made chips. Very reasonably priced, very friendly staff. They also do gluten free on a Friday.

A short wait.... which is a good thing. When there is a queue for Fish 🐟 & 🍟 you know it's going to be good 👍 Very good sized fish, freshly cooked and a shared portion of chips was more than enough 😋 very nice

Awesome chips plus a nice fish and sausage! This was the one chippy we could find open on a Wednesday lunchtime and we weren’t disappointed 👍

Chips good as usual but fish was let down by the batter the taste was not great. Should use beer batter much tastier.

We’ve been coming to Karl’s for years, always with a well behaved small family dog. Today, we were turned away all 7 of us because they no longer allow dogs! Sadly, they won’t be getting our business again as we always have a dog with us.

Really disappointed, went to Karl’s today to be told dogs are no longer welcome. Been coming here years and never had any issues, probably won’t be coming here again.

Great fish & chips always service with a smile

I frequently visit Karl's chippie and enjoy the fish and chips. Unfortunately, they do own and use a microwave to heat the pies which is in my mind a sin. All this type of heating does is turn what should be a pie crust into pie mush. "BlYDI HEL"". A commercial Air fryer would not cost much but would heat the pies so we could enjoy wholesome pie crusts. May earn 5 stars to get this right.

Best Fish and Chips in the area

Went there recently was very nice found a little bit expensive but worth it for a treat and the fish & chips shop has been in the same family for 64 years.

Traditional fish and chips... Beautifully fried both fish and chips with old school mushy peas... One standard portion will fill two people... the best fish and chips I think I've had in North Wales in over 30 years...

Love this chippy, don't get to come often cos l drive 45miles and back each time,but got to say they are the best and the staff are lovely and friendly.you won't be disappointed.

A group of six of us ended our day at Karl's having been recommended by someone we met at Llandusul. He told us this was the best chip shop in North Wales and we would completely agree with that statement. The fish and chips were awesome and we were served by two of the nicest ladies. They were friendly, helpful and great conversationalists. They even went out to a local shop to buy more bread for us to have with our meals. This is a fist class establishment and we will make a point of visiting again when next in North Wales

Amazing staff. All very friendly and chatty, couldn’t do more for us. All of our meals were ace and the cod and chips was just epic. Good walk along the seafront after as well being deafened by the wind. Only negative re the area is that there weren’t any doughnut shops nearby, though there often aren’t. Would visit again!

On a cold night we had the best fish and chips in town

Chips cold, sausage microwaved, shelves bare, no prices on the wall. Guessing it's about to close down. Lady who served us even more grim. It was clear she'd lost the love of her job, came across rude, well she was outright rude. I felt uncomfortable when she was interacting with other customers. I'm pretty sure most people won't review out of fear of upsetting her!!

Great staff, excellent food, if anything their portions are too big, will order one portion of chips with two fish next time.

Absolutely beautiful meal in the cafe. The fish was so fresh and white, it melted in the mouth. Lovely people and service and a great price.

I used to visit 'Karls' on a regular basis in the 70s. Then always a high standard. We visited on 12 November - now not so good. The fish was Ok with nice crunchy batter, but the chips were way below the standard I expected. They tasted burnt and had no flavour - they were no better than oven chips. The cafe part was scruffy and needed upgrading. We shall not call again.

Never been here before despite living nearby. The chips were cooked fresh and huge portions. The fish looked beautiful and the curry sauce was hot and tasty The lady who served us was lovely, friendly and down to earth and very smiley Will definitely be back soon

Recently been here for fish chips and peas.. 2 cod and one small cod. Cooked fresh but very tasteless food. Shop itself looks shabby and grimy. Will not be back!!!

Really tasty, but yesterday they closed 40 min earlier! That was frustrating because we planned our day with this treat. Yes, it was warm but I can't stop working earlier if its hot and if you want then you should announce it, we checked online for the opening times! Update: Today was everything perfect, that's why I change my review to 5 stars ! 2nd Update Today 17th September 23 Closed again more than 1h earlier and turned people away because of staff problems...

Ive had Years of good fish and chips and service when I'm on my days out

Nice food. We had the fish, scampi and burgers and they were all good. I did get burned by a bit of hot oil that spurted out of the scampi but that was my own fault. There is an area to eat in (next to the. Chippy) but you have to make it clear that you want to sit in and eat. There is a small park with benches across the road you can also to sit at but beware of the seagulls.

Gluten free fish and chips.....fantastic! The standard fish and chips were also as good but the main reason for choosing Karl's is them being able to cater for a Coeliac Diet. Check the website for when Gluten Free is available. Will be heading back to Prestatyn soon...just for the Gluten Free fish and chips.

took a very long time to take our order, although the portions were generous the food was mediocre and didn’t make up for how long we were waiting for this food. would not recommend if looking for a good meal

At the Age of 62 I have been in hundreds of chip shops. There were 4 people working there and one Customer waiting. I would have expected a staff member to ask what I wanted as there was little on show and they would have to start cooking my order. After a couple of minutes I placed my order. 2 fishcakes and large chips. Whilst waiting I kept hearing a 'bleeping noise. The next customer mentioned that the smoke detector was malfunctioning. The staff member said its been like that for over a month. The fishcakes were OK, but the 'large' portion of chips were anything but large. Measly even. Come on, £4 for a small portion of chips? It is not a 'nice chipshop to visit.

Massive que and really really slow service don't waste your time the curry was ok chips were average the Frith chip shop was alot better and service was alot faster maybe I caught this on a bad day cause other reviews seem better but that's the experience I had

Lovely freshly cooked to order fish and chips. Pick them up then take the short drive to the beach to scoff them, or just walk over the road there is a nice park with plenty of benches to sit on.

We often travel up from chester for our fish and chips and staff in there know this but we went today and was turned away shop was empty told us she was having a break fair enough but we said we travelled from chester by bus she just looked at us so we had no choice but to walk away very disappointing wont go there again

The fish was soggy and had been left for a long time and not freshly cooked, chips not cooked properly some were hard, this was a big disappointment. The staff are nice and friendly this was a plus, shame about the food.

I think it can be really difficult to get a decent chippy these days and this was definitely one of the good ones. Very unassuming but really friendly staff and decent fish and chips. Give it a go!

Picked Karl's because of the great reviews, however unfortunately didn't get the same experience. Chips were chips, although a little soggy, they were ok. Fish was cooked fresh, tasted pretty good, however I was constantly picking bones out, which nobody wants to deal with. Mushy peas though we're awful. Absolutely zero taste, and very very bland.

The chips were OK, the sausage was lovely, the please and gravy were nice, but the fishcake, you could it at the wall and make an hole, avoid.

Always love our fish and chips from Karl's. Parking is easy on the street outside. We always pick them up and then drive down to the beach to eat them in the car. Staff are friendly and very helpful, and food is usually cooked to order. If you're in the area, it's one of the best and has been serving the local with great fish and chips for years.

We ended up doing a huge order for about 25 of us, with a number of different things going into it. We’d ordered earlier in the day and it was in progress when we arrived. Really lovely and fresh, with top notch fish and great chips! So great and really good value too!

Nice little chippy with good quality food and selection. Opposite a little park for eating and chilling out. It has a little dine in area too.

The waitress attempted a smile, but these chips were truly dire. The fish was okay, very oily, but okay.
