My visit was on a cold snow covered day. We had an early booking, maybe that was the reason for the young waitress not knowing and providing us with confusing info of the menu. Once that was sorted everything went well and a very satisfying meal was had by my family.

Lovely venue, delicious breakfast and brilliant service from the staff group. Will definitely head back to sample lunch and their amazing cakes.

A wonderful lunch we did not plan the visit and they were able to accommodate us. A great choice was available to meet a variety of needs. We opted for the fritters (black pudding and haggis) as a starter to share. This was delightful. The main courses were equally good with mother in law having beef lasagne whilst the Hunters chicken beckoned me. Well worth a trip

Vegetarian option for lunch was cold. A red pepper halved and filled with cold couscous sitting in a pool of cold tomato puree which was very tart and some salad veg on the side. Won't be eating here again. Most restaurant offer choices for vegetarian now as the norm.

I was through in Aberdeenshire for the weekend and we were looking for a good restaurant. You can't really go wrong with fish and chips or the Ashvale. What was even better was being able to sit in. We were here on a Saturday night and it was reasonably busy. We all had Lemon Sole, it was lovely, a really good helping. I should also say the restaurant is nice to sit in.

I opted for the soup and panini combo option which cost £9.30. The panini consisted of one wafer thin slice of ham and an equally minuscule slice of cheese. The lentil and bacon soup tasted ok but the bowl was small, approximately the size of a teacup. Prices are quite steep also.
