The Gordon Highlander in Aberdeenshire

Tried an egg and cheese muffin with haggis. What a success. Shame it's only available in Scotland. But guaranteed when I visit again that's my breakfast

Nationwide companies like spoons often get a bad press (irrespective whether their boss boss is brexit bonkers). But I've upgraded my rating for the Gordon Highlander to 5/5. There's a great atmosphere, the staff are efficient and courteous, the quality of food is high and cost reasonable and there's a decent selection of real ales. Oh, and its family friendly. You can take your granny or kids and not have to endure others swearing or stepping out of line. I like this place and am seldom disapointed.

Have visited this location on many occasions and have never been disappointed. Like any other Weatherspoons, delivers what you expect. No fuss. No problems.

Great weatherspoons. Decent food. Well priced.

Busy lunchtime when we visited but were served quickly. I had the char grilled half chicken while my wife had chicken bites with soya sauce and spicy rice. Both meals included soft drinks and less than £20 for both. Incredible value and excellent food.

Rated Vs other wetherspoons I've been too, this one's always been consistent over the years for food and drink. Can't go wrong for a quick meal or cheap drink

I've had numerous meals and drinks in The Gordon Highlander and always found them to be very good. With one exception. Out of all the Wetherspoon's the only one I'd complain about is the Inverurie one. The reason is the chips are always Luke warm at best. Never hot. A shame really as I'd give them 5 stars otherwise for food and drink.

It was a quiet spell but still enjoyable

Unless your coming for breakfast (which is at least above average)then you get what you pay for I'm afraid .I had an 8 ounce ribeye steak (which is small for something as robust as ribeye)and I was asked how I would like it cooked .medium rare I said.when it appeared 10 minutes later it was a sad sight.never eaten cardboard but I guess it would taste something like that.l got a steak and chips and a free pint of beer for 8.50 I think. I don't want to seem to harsh it is what it is ,a restaurant for family's with young children and people who like to eat out twice a week but on a tight budget.i would imagine there curry which there is a special night for is pre bought and re heated in micro oven.breakfast only and you won't be dissapointed. The staff are all wonderfull and very efficient

Usually have fish chips yesterday was a disgrace what I got little fish burnt I should really have complained. Have a broken hip was my first time out in 7 weeks what a let down.

We visited for dinner while holidaying in the area. The food was served really quickly, the service was good and most importantly, tasted great. We were dining as a family of 4 and it was really reasonably priced, which is another plus.

Staff are incredibly rude, my steak came out cold and well done... i ordered rare. Barmaid served my friend without asking for ID then had the audacity to come to the table and take the beer off of him 5 minutes later as he didnt have it at that point (we are both 23) wouldnt reccomend going here ever as the tables are sticky, food wait time is shocking and best of all the toilets are not maintained to a standard fit for a cow to use let alone a human. Totally disgraceful place

It's a place where the food is quite cheap though it's either a hit or a miss regarding the quality of food.

Food took ages to come out & when it did was luck warm & burnt. Shocking food , I like spoons but this one in Inverurie is unfortunately rubbish food . We sent it back & got our money back . Would not order food again from here .

My food was alright but my partner mixed grill looked like it was cooked off a stone of coal. Staff were reasonable excluding the BO reek coming of the manager. I personally think they should focus on teaching staff and management to up their personal hygiene.. extremely unprofessional..

Standard wetherspoon you know what you're getting which is good value.

Nice pub inside but whyyyyy do you have they studs on the handrail coming down the stairs from the toilet.... About tore my palm in half!! Very dangerous and guaranteed i ain't been the only one to have mentioned about them.

If you want a quick affordable freshed cooked meal, this is a restaurant with many different options to suit everyone. Enjoy the history lesson at the staircase, oh, and the app makes it even easier to order. Staff ever so nice, diligent and helpful.

Very Dull no light or sunshine staff are great food hit and miss but Drinks are a Bargain

Have been here several times for breakfast and never been a problem .However today when my breakfast came the plate was cold most of the food was barely warm,my egg yolk had been broken while cooking and was absolutely hard ,The best bit of the breakfast was the toast .no member of staff approached to ask if meal ok and were unable to get attention of staff .They were all to busy chatting among themselves ,

Went in for meal before visiting son. I had the chicken wrap. My wife had three small dishes cheesy chips, chicken bites and Mac bites. Very filling and great service

I visited with friends for breakfast. I had the Scottish breakfast and a coffee. It was very tasty and great value for money.

Visited for lunch four times in February and March thinking problems must have been resolved. I was wrong as every meal was uniformly well under par. Quality. Quantity and delivery were all less than acceptable. I suggest from the very few diners present, that y opinion is not unique. So sad that a a good restaurant/bar has deteriorated so dramatically.

Food wasn't the best. But it certainly wasnt expensive.

The ‘chef’ excelled herself tonight. Small all day brunch came with miniscule rasher of bacon, burnt black around the edges and egg, invisible due to beans poured all over the top. The sausage and chips were reasonable. Everything was lukewarm. As the chef headed past with her own large helping of chips I said I hoped hers were warmer than mine. This was met with a nice smile! Wetherspoon should be cheap and cheerful (we know it is what it is) but this was just cheap and nasty. I couldn’t be bothered complaining and don’t understand (especially when it’s quiet and staff aren’t rushed off their feet) why ‘check back’ doesn’t happen in Wetherspoon.

Got a nice hair in my rice and Chicken, the. Proceeded to kick me out even though I had sufficient identification.

Very pleasant Wetherspoons, all the usual drinks and food offerings, with a good selection of canned craft beer. Tuesday is the steak deal day which I had and I have to say it was absolutely delicious and so big I couldn't finish eating it. Lots of interesting paintings to look at and a spinning wheel well worth a visit if you are in the area.

If I could have given no stars I would have. And the 3 stars for atmosphere was because of the people we were with. Where to start? Arrived at 10am Sat 3rd Feb to meet up with an armed forces breakfast club. Ordered food no problem but found both hot drinks machines out of order, staff eventually restarted them and got our coffees after waiting 10 mins. Returned to our table and waited... And waited.. And then waited some more! As no sign of food arriving I went to refill coffees, down to one working machine yet again. By 11.25 it looked like our breakfasts were unlikely to make an appearance so my husband cancelled the order for a refund.... Absolutely gobsmacked to be still charged for the coffees 🙄

Had a Thursday Curry club curry. It was OK, nothing to rave over. Poppadoms were a bit rubbery. Curry was fine, rice fine, naan bread fine.

Weatherspoons. Cheap busy. Drinks were OK. Ipa was interesting. Nothing exciting but nothing wrong with it

I ordered 2 large breakfasts, when they arrived the hash browns were near cold and were definitely freshly cooked, the beans were also cold, so complained not a problem we would get replacement meals, when they came back only 1 hash brown on one plate, both were missing on other plate and again beans were cold. So complained again got refund and walked out, over heard the waitress bad mouthing us to another customer , this place needs to get its act together.

Lemon chicken..with herb....and rice. ...not great, but not bad.

Nice place to eat food is usually OK, sometimes not always hot, just ask to get it re done. As I've had to a few times. Prices are reasonable. Coffee is amazing.

we were there today for our wedding anniversary lunch it was absolutly delicious hot and tasty the staff were helpful and happy smiley girls my husband uses a motorised wheelchair they helped us 💯 don't know who the chef is but boy oh boy keep him at all cost because he knows how to cook thankyou for making our day so lovely the atmosphere was fabulous the place was clean and warm we will be returning

Got my food, and it was terrible, now I know the staff have to do check ups on the customers a few minutes after receiving food to see if everything is ok, I never got that, I left my food at the side and when some one finally came all they asked was, are you finished?, when I’ve CLEARLY left all my food for a reason (it being horrible). This place use to be good but it’s absolute run down now, terrible and it’s ashame

Met a friend for a bite to eat- it was a rainy day and a Friday so certainly the reason the atmosphere wasn’t that great. Food was ok, usual pub grub.

Definitely amongst the better of the Wetherspoon pubs. Staff here are always friendly and drinks service with the app is prompt. Expectations on food quality should always be managed accordingly, but if you are hungry then the usual pub grub options aren't bad, but do expect a wait during busy times.

Went for breakfast, not the best we've ever had from there, but we went later than we usually do, so maybe the last of what they had?

Nice spoons in a nice little town

This place is very tired and could do with having some money spent on it. The staff do their job but there are no extras (a smile wouldn't go amiss) and no finesse. Having said that, this is a typical Wetherspoons and you do get value for money.

Decent Wetherspoon in Inverurie

It's a Spoons. You know what you are getting. Nice bar, well priced food and excellent priced drinks.

Once again I have vowed never to go back but this time I mean it! Two weekends in a row there has been no or very little food available from the menu. When asked the reason ‘why?’ to staff they have no answer or have no interest in giving an explanation! They should be guided by management to give valid reasons to customer questions but Inverurie Manager seems to be very elusive and reluctant to be faced by any member of the public! The place can be very busy but in recent times there seems to be fewer customers even at weekends. Some staff are very courteous and I know it’s not their fault but maybe a Manager that can be a team player would be more suited to the job as the existing one doesn’t seem to know the rules of ‘Managing’ ……. There, I’ve said it!

Twice lately have been in with family different days and times...1st was paper left on burger and burnt tasted so bad I felt sick all day...waiting staff were great though...been put off but deto chance it all fish burnt inedible

If I could rate the food it would have been minus 5 stars! Burnt, dry and inedible twice. Felt so bad for the waitress we had for having to deal with the bad food

Nice meal for or anniversary totally spoiled by incompetent staff.... unfortunately they need a lesson in public relations my sons girlfriend of 20 years old had her drink snatched away and i mean snatched so rude because her young Scots card is not proof of Id !!!! Worked fine on all our bus travels up north. She doesn't possess a driving licence or passport as we were told to provide. Thankfully will never be back an anniversary not to remember and a young lady left very shaken....

Excellent food. Bad service had to ask for table to be cleaned. Then waitress spill water and left puddle in middle of table. Looked for napkins to dry up. No napkins !!! Had to look for other waitress to dry water. Only empty sauce bottles again had to look for waitress to get some While ordering asked if possible to get bacon roll for 6 year old. A very abrupt no Five people dining so very rude and bad customer service

The menu is very extensive which is good as I'm vegan. The food was tasty, good value and the staff were friendly and efficient. Drinks are a good price too.

It was really hot inside, the glass my friend was given had a bright pink lipstick mark on it & my panini was burnt. The chips also tasted stale :( First Wetherspoons I've ever had a problem with. Being a pub I don't exactly have high standards, but I at least want a clean glass! My side and and dessert were really nice, so I am giving it 3 stars.

Went here for Sunday breakfast. Food was lovely and free hot drinks refills greatly appreciated. Service was good and explained about drinks machine and any extra sauces etc. Very reasonably priced and would definitely recommend.

Great atmosphere prompt service great quality meal

I got a sharp reminder tonight as to why I never eat in my local Weatherspoons…it is awful! I ordered what was described as a ‘Medeterranian Salad’ with tuna mayo. What I got was some tuna mayo, broth mix, and dead leaves. I’m not sure what was remotely ‘Medeterranian’ or even ‘salad’ about this dish, as it contained no tomatoes; no peppers; no cucumber; no olives; in fact, it did not contain any veg, with the exception of some past-it, straight from a packet, leaves! So yeah, foolish me paid a tenner for a 55p tin of value tuna flakes, a couple of tablespoons of pre-soaked broth mix and some wilted leaves. Thank feck there was a pint of Tennent’s lager included in the price to pacify me! A member of staff then asked if everything was okay with our meal. When I pointed out that my meal was not in the slightest as described on the menu, she said she would speak to the manager. We were in there until we finished our pints, so maybe about another half hour, and no one arrived to apologise or make amends. I wasn’t surprised. The review facility has been turned off on their Facebook page. They don’t care and don’t deserve custom.

Best whetherspoons I've been in , lovely food

Met up with friends for lunch , didn’t really know what to expect after reading the reviews here. I was very pleasantly surprised, comfortable surroundings , pleasant staff , food very good , hard to fault the place really, no car park but plenty on street parking nearby, well done Wetherspoons .

Went to the Gordon highlander for a late supper. Not a very good meal, staff were polite, drinks were good. Toilets were clean!

Ordered gourmet sirloin steak from tueday steak menu. Sirloin was tough. No mushrooms, no onion rings, - these were promised on the menu. The plate just had a poor steak peas, chips and sauce. No apology.

Food took so long to arrive I had forgotten what I had ordered. What I got was not in any way what I had ordered, I didn’t order a child’s portion of stone cold food. Second time in a row this has happened there so never again, I just left it and went to the local chip pie, at least it was hot and had more than 7 chips. 😡

I purchased a supposed mid afternoon deal which included a drink. However, no drink arrived! The person who brought the food advised I would have to purchase a drink - thus negating the supposed deal! The person who came to remove my empty plate was very curt and impersonal - it seems these staff have no interest in either meeting or exceeding their customers expectations - sad for a customer focussed environment 🥲 Unfortunate for some of their colleagues who do try their best to do provide a decent level of service…

Was very disappointed...been a few times and always been good ..don't know what happened yesterday ...had mac and cheese was chewy at edges and cold in middle almost like it was frozen and slammed in the microwave chips were hot though...barman was a bit blunt and seemed peed off with life when we originally went in and asked if they were still serving food as it was the back of 7 at night . Husbands fish also wasn't up to usual standard

I have to laugh at some of the U.S. reviews, because it's obvious they're expecting American food. We ate here several times during our stay in Daviot. The food was always good, and the service was fast and efficient. If you're traveling to Scotland, educate yourself on the food. If you want American, eat at McDonalds or Domino's.

Disappointed with one of the orders placed. Beans on toast was cold and the beans barely covered the toast. Went up and asked for more beans and was charged an extra 75 pence for another desert spoon of beans. Cups need a good bleaching.

On a recent break away to Inverurie we visited here a couple of times, it was very nice service was good and the toilets were very clean, the bar area was clean an nicely decorated with local stuff about Inverurie its people and history, it...

A really good Wetherspoons which celebrates a mixture of the train, the regiment and other local people and features. The paintings pictures and information are like a museum. The beer was good too!

Stopped and had breakfast, adverts to socialising distance, mask on, sat at table, kind waitress came over and explained what happens then gave us a couple of minutes to decide what we wanted, brought it over, told us what to do for drinks. We even paid with their machine at table. The only time we had to put masks on again was to refill cups or toilet. Very good setup and very friendly staff couldn't do enough for us

Why oh why can the management not listen to the regular customers who complain that the bar is freezing, air con on and doors open, extremely hard to enjoy a 'cosy' atmosphere.

Went for lunch and have to compliment the team for managing this place so well. Best managed venue we’ve visited during this virus. Lunch was great too
