Thainstone House Ballroom in Aberdeenshire

Had a nice overnight stay with my partner. I upgraded our room to a superior one but it looked out onto a wall which was a bit of a shame. I think the pool and spa facilities could be upgraded, I'd also seen the photo of the outdoor jacuzzi and was really excited to use it but was told you had to pay extra for it which was a bit gutted about. Really liked the bar area and staff were very good. Quite isolated if you don't have a car but hotel staff helped us get taxis. Would return if spa area was improved. But the grounds are beautiful and decor is lovely.

Had the most disappointing afternoon tea on Saturday 3rd August 2024. No scones (despite saying there would be on the website) and when we asked the waitress said there’s no scones with afternoon tea ! Sandwiches, 1” sausage rolls and mini pork pies were fine but the sweet section was clearly bought in and defrosted resulting in the bottoms being soggy and slightly unpleasant.on the cheesecake and lemon mousse tarts. Not as advertised and not worth run out from Aberdeen.

Hotel and pool were really nice and we had a lovely one-night stay here but staff weren’t really helpful and barely spoke to us during phone calls prior to arrival and during check-in. Had to pry a lot of information out of them ourselves which we got quite bare minimum answers to and no additional information. We would’ve spent more money on-site had we known more restaurant/bar/spa details. Staff could definitely have been more helpful as it felt more like an Airbnb stay than a hotel stay with us just cracking on ourselves.

Rooms very Tired, Hotel reception staff seemed uninterested in how our stay was or mentioning facilities available, However, Breakfast Staff and food amazing as was the remainder of the hotel and grounds.

Nice room, shame sbout the guy who was obviously in charge trying to crack jokes with is at diner. He really should be mindful that his comments could be construde as inappropriate. Supposed banter about having a face he has seen before, was it crime watch. Wasn't particularly funny. Especially when paying the prices they charge

Stayed 1 night for work Fab location, friendly staff. Absolutely roasting on top floor, but fans provided in rooms. Excellent breakfast selection.

Amazing upscale hotel, in an amazing location. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the service is top notch. Be aware that being also a spa resort, the hotel may attract groups of very laid back people, so your experience may vary depending on patrons. Also, the restaurant is great, do not miss their sticky toffee pudding!

Lovely hotel with great facilities and fabulous food.

Came here for the first time to photograph a bride/groom prep and it's a beautiful venue for anyone wanting to stay or get married at. Great staff as well.

As we drove up we were so pleased with how beautiful and well maintained the hotel looked. We stayed for a couple nights and enjoyed both the stockmans bar and restaurant. The bar staff were lovely and so friendly, perfect for the venue. The food in the restaurant was very good in the evening and at breakfast my husband loved the sausage served. Our room was one of the smaller rooms and was fine however would do with wash cloths which appear to be lacking in many hotels in Scotland. While there we went to Fraser castle which was also well worth it.

I travel a lot for my job.the price of this hotel does not reflect how nice it is. In many ways its basic. But the staff are lovely, the facilities are lovely and the free snacks in the room are a really nice touch. If I'm up here again. I will seek this hotel out.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings. Lots of character, especially the green lady restaurant. The pool, spa, steamroom and outdoor hottub and sauna was a very relaxing experience.

Food lovely, dining room well appointed, roomy and airy. Super waitress who turned muzak down when I asked as I suffer from hyperacusis and have to completely avoid noise establishments. Not impressed by the automatic tipping policy the hotel has put in place but you can always ask for it to be removed. I had planned to tip a lot more but was miffed about the autochanger so left it at that.

I attended a bring a party to a party evening on 15th December 2017. The food was good, food service was great and the entertainment (disco) was fun. The hotel itself is beautiful and was well laid out. Sadly there was one member of staff who let the whole team down. He was incredibly rude when I pointed out that what he had rung up on the till couldn't be right. He turned to me, glared and said 'I know that! That's why I was going back to the till!' With his back turned he said 'I wasn't going to over-charge you'. I was quite shocked.... This was at the very start of the evening and there was no-one else at the bar. This man also had a nasty habit of 'clipping the ear' of the younger members of staff! It's a real shame that he was there that night. He did not have the personality to deal with people being out and trying to enjoy themselves. Other than that, it was a great evening but I would not return.

Great wedding service superb setting,no problem with the hotel it was the service Eg bar service , food quality, also bar prices I know function prices are expensive but £2-50 for bottle of coke is a joke.Bought a round of drinks same round 4 times and every time was a different total,the food was ok but for a place like this and its reputation it should have been a lot better.also lack of staff serving 90people at the service 1 person behind the bar ,130 at night and 2 behind the bar GET MORE STAFF!!!!! !!

Reservamos en 25 de diciembre '13, para las cenas de Navidad. £79 pp. Se suponía que era @3 pm, no nos sentaron hasta después de las 4 pm. Tuvimos que pedir al personal lo que estaba ocurriendo. mala comunicación. comida sabrosa, pero desgastado, € muy caliente! servicio horrible, bastante desorganizado. Tuvimos que rápido camarero/ess de servirnos! Estuvimos absolutamente hambriento! Nos dieron un montón de "lo siento por las molestias" etc, pero verdaderamente arruinó nuestro trabajo. Lo mejor de todo fue últimamente, tener bebidas junto a la chimenea en el salón. (Mateo, que sirven en el bar, era servicial&comprensión), alegó algunos del personal no aparezca en el trabajo. lo que explica pobre, etc. el servicio, pero no debería ser un problema para los huéspedes! (PS, si crear pd personal tiempo doble en estas dys, podrían ser mucho más interesado en encender?)

Mi amigo y yo estábamos ansiosos por este almuerzo de Navidad, sin embargo esto se desvaneció en el momento de la llegada, pasé 10 minutos intentando encontrar a alguien para servirnos una copa en el bar antes de ir a través de nuestro almuerzo! Una vez que encontramos el barman y pedimos nuestras bebidas, más gente empezó a llegar sin embargo nadie estaba allí para saludar a ellos y encontrar asientos adicionales. La música no era festivo y el personal era sin duda no llenos de alegría festiva en conjunto no es una experiencia que deseo repetir! Comparado con el golf View en Nairn, que tiene un servicio excelente y un personal muy amable, Crerar, tienes que sacar sus calcetines up!

Asistí a una cena para más de 100 clientes pasado fin de semana. El lugar estaba limpio aunque apenas puesto una alfombra nueva y algunos decoran hecho. las puertas del inodoro no encajaba bien y no podría bloquear. El personal es muy amable pero que necesiten entrenado y no era suficiente. Las puertas de salida de la sala de actos para fuera podridas y muy fea. La comida era bastante buena, pero necesitan toque especial si este hotel va a competir con los hoteles de calidad en esta zona. Esta fue una vez un lugar realmente especial para ir así que espero que volveremos. Entretanto gestión tendrá que espero que la gente recuerda su antigua gloria.
