This is the second time I have called ahead (in the afternoon) and some guy says “yes, no problem for takeaway” - Their website advertises takeaway! I asked if I could order at around 6pm - again “no problem”. I called to put in order at 6.15 to be told “No we can’t do takeaways”. Surely they knew how many covers they were preparing for in the afternoon? 🤷🏻♀️ I will NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone - front of house and ‘chef’ (?) don’t seem to know what they are doing! So disappointed! And lady who answers phone should be more apologetic!

We have been going to Spice of Life for a long time, and finally I'm getting round to a review. The restaurant is always beautifully presented and every member of staff is friendly and professional with diners. Food is excellent and many dishes suitable for coeliacs (me). We have a favourite table and the team always try to accommodate this request which is very kind. Cannot speak highly enough of the whole team and manager (Anil?). Looking forward to our next visit.

Hidden Gem. If you are out this way this restaurant won’t disappoint. Lovely find before our train journey home. Greeted by lovely owners looked as though a small family business with a lovely menu and good could not fault ! I am gluten free and this place catered to Gf/Df and vegan ect. The food was delcious and worth every penny. The restaurant was a lovely atmosphere very posh and clean. The service was quick and we will be back again to try the lunch menu. 10/10

Table wasn’t ready at the time we reserved for, it took another twenty minutes of waiting after the reservation time. Food took over an hour and a half to arrive after being seated and ordered. Absolute shambles. Food is very small for the money spent. Don’t go here, support better businesses.

My visit was on a cold snow covered day. We had an early booking, maybe that was the reason for the young waitress not knowing and providing us with confusing info of the menu. Once that was sorted everything went well and a very satisfying meal was had by my family.

Lovely venue, delicious breakfast and brilliant service from the staff group. Will definitely head back to sample lunch and their amazing cakes.

A wonderful lunch we did not plan the visit and they were able to accommodate us. A great choice was available to meet a variety of needs. We opted for the fritters (black pudding and haggis) as a starter to share. This was delightful. The main courses were equally good with mother in law having beef lasagne whilst the Hunters chicken beckoned me. Well worth a trip
