Acorn Centre in Aberdeenshire

Service was very slow. We were in for 1.1/2 hours just for soup and pudding and coffee

Called in for mid pm snack, had lovely scone and GF cake for my partner. These came with free tea or coffee. Pity no decaf coffee, but had decaf tea. Very reasonable prices and some attractive offers for budget brunch and lunches. Staff helpful and friendly.

First time here, lovely freshly made food. Salmon and cream cheese sandwiches were amazing !

Really good homestyle cooking and baked goods, with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. All the staff up for a chat, and nothing was too much bother.

I often shop in Inverurie, and always eat at the Acorn Centre, but was disappointed yesterday. I ordered tea for myself, black coffee for my husband and 2 cherry scones ( which were hard and overcooked , by the way) I got my order and the waitress even remembered I had said that we neither of us took milk. When I went to pay on the chit was written 1 latte, 1 americano and 2 scones. Why the latte, I have no idea, but the lady at the till was adamant that I had had a latte, and the waitress even said the same. I even suggested they check the table where the evidence remained, but no. I suspect I was charged for the latte, but as I refused a receipt I don't know. I will hesitate to return however,

A lovely place for a coffee, cake or a meal. The staff are excellent: helpful and polite. They were able to recommend menu items which suited my friend's dietary needs without hesitation. It's not expensive and has plenty of space to accommodate a family group, as well as a smaller group.

Excellent soup and sandwich with good service. Nice airy venue, not too noisy either. I'd recommend it.

Soups always very tasty and the best tuna and horseradish sandwich in town.

When my husband and I visit Inverurie we always come to The Acorn Centre for lunch. I can’t praise them highly enough. Their homemade soup and sandwiches are fabulous. Fantastic coffee and cakes too. The staff are so lovely and friendly and the cleaning of each table is meticulous. You must visit. Highly recommend

I have been visiting the Acorn Centre for a while now, usually for lunch, and their food quality is excellent. Home made and always served with a smile by the volunteers.

Tables well spaced apart. Had all the covid-19 implications in okaxe. Lovely homenade scones with homemade jam and more than plenty tea for two. Lovely staff. Will definitely be no1 choice to meet up with a friend again

Visited on Fri 28th August for lunch with my husband. Not our first visit and we have enjoyed lunch and coffee & cake here before. The Cafe is very well organised for these Covid times. Staff were all very friendly & welcoming. We each had a different soup and both were absolutely delicious. The sandwiches were delicious too and everything is reasonably priced. I highly recommend Acorn Centre and will definitely be back.

This is a hidden gem really enjoyed my morning coffee and scone.

I am a regular visitor to the acorn centre and I’ve never been disappointed. There is always a great selection of cakes on offer. Also a nice breakfast and lunch menu with daily specials too. The staff are very friendly. Kids are also made to feel very welcome.

Went in here with my mum and wife for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had a coronation chicken sandwich with carrot and courgette soup which was delicious. Very friendly staff and good service, price was also reasonable and a beautiful setting.

This lovely place is a delight. The service is warm and friendly with the aroma of coffee. We ordered tea for two with cake. The tea came piping hot and the carrot cake melted on my mouth. My friend was excited by the Bramwell slice and equally delighted. A wonderful team and refreshments.

Great place for a healthy lunch

I have eaten here a number of times now. I LOVE the cakes trolley which pops around if you are not there for a meal. Such a choice, baked on site, unusual flavours that really work. Clean, welcoming and tasty. The cost is the same as other cafes around. We think this is lovely.

Lovely lunch, very friendly staff, lovely little gift shop

We had the specials which proved to be excellent choices. The hot smoked salmon with cream cheese sandwich and cauliflower cheese crepe came as generous servings with freshly prepared salads. Both were delicious. The service was attentive and we were made to feel welcome. A very pleasant atmosphere. We will return next time we are in Inverurie and are delighted to recommend it.

The church has done a fantastic job of making this an incredibly easy place to go for a bite to eat. The atmosphere is always pleasant, and the artwork is beautiful. I’ve been going for years with the kids, and it has become part of our routine over time to stop in for special events. The staff are mostly volunteers, and so you know they want to be there, and that shows through in the wonderful service. There are so many places to eat in Inverurie, but this is our most regular.

On frequent visits to Inverurie to meet friends we always go into the Acorn Centre for a light lunch and usually return later for tea/coffee. The food is freshly prepared,tasty and always served with a smile.

Great service from friendly staff

Now 10 years since opening, this remains a nice friendly cafe serving their own baking and fresh food. An interesting Fairtrade shop inside adds another dimension to your visit. Worth popping in.

Average. Nice venue but food is not brilliant. Ok if you just want soup and a sandwich. Asked for some cream with the sticky toffee pudding to be told they don't have any, despite being in the middle of inverurie with a choice of shops within a 5 minute walk. I would probably choose other venues but then i forget and go back a year later and go oh yes that is why I don't usually come here.

Surroundings okay but very noisy. I would avoid the crepes as were served cold and were certainly not cooked fresh.

Went for lunch with a family member and got a warm friendly welcome. All the food is homemade and delicious. Nothing overboard but just what you need for lunch or a quick break. All run by volunteers - very impressed!

The food is always great here, the scones in particular are wonderful. It's a great place to catch up with friends, either over a coffee or for lunch. The prices are very reasonable given the excellent quality of the food and the staff are attentive. You never feel rushed or that they want you to go.

Popped into the Acorn for a light lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Food tasted home made with large or small portions available. Price very reasonable for what we got. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will visit again

They do a small menu for lunch but the food is always excellent. They do a good soup and sandwich but have main courses as well. They also do very good home bakes if you are popping in for a morning coffee or afternoon tea. It is run by volunteers and they are always happy and helpful. The cost is good and you know the profits are going to a good cause.

Once again I visited thr Acorn Centre and once again it was excellent. The menu is even more gf friendly. All of the "specials" were either gluten free or low gluten. Gluten free bread could be requested.

He estado dos veces en Inverurie recientemente en un lunes, cuando este lugar no está abierto, así que era la tercera vez suerte en martes. Yo había sido la intención de ir a otro lugar, pero mi atención fue agarramos por la junta del día especiales fuera y decidí probarlo. Me complace especialmente que ofrecían pequeñas raciones, ya que no necesita una gran comida. Me saludaron y nos llevaron a una mesa y mi pedido fue tomado rápidamente. Es un lugar muy luminoso y ventilado y se sintió bien. Pedí de zanahoria y sopa parsnip picante y brócoli y coliflor hornear con un vaso de leche. Por alguna razón ambos campos trajeron a la mesa, que no era lo que yo esperaba (o querían). La camarera se ofrecen para tomar mi plato de distancia para mantenerlo caliente, pero me dijo que sería bien. La sopa era vegetariano y sin gluten y muy sabrosa, mientras que la vasija era especialmente buena. Sin duda tienen que de nuevo. Mi cuenta fue de £9. 40, que era muy razonable. El baño estaba limpio y bien cuidado. Una buena experiencia.

Mi amigo y yo disfrutamos de algunos bollos, leche y té precioso. La morcilla y un bollo de queso fue muy buena, me gustó ver algo un poco diferente. El servicio era bueno y me gusta el ambiente relajado. Ubicación perfecta en la calle alta en Inverurie en una bonita iglesia. Creo que el café también es manejado por voluntarios, que es fantástico. Sin duda volvería otra vez para el almuerzo.

Mis padres ancianos son clientes habituales y nos recibieron con una cálida bienvenida. Creo que el menú del almuerzo ofrece una variedad de platos, incluyendo algunos con más sabores inusuales. Sin embargo, fuimos bastante tarde en el día para una rápida taza de té. Mi latte era delicioso. No he sido durante varios años, pero espero volver pronto.

Returned here after a long time and found that it was exactly as it had been 2 - 3 years ago. It's coasting along on goodwill from Church members and it's charitable status. In reality this is a poorly run operation producing pretty bland food - it appears the kitchen doesn't have the confidence to season the food it serves! The volunteers doing most of the serving etc., are usually friendly, but they really need some training. It's not awful, but it's not very good and given the prices they charge it could and should be a whole lot better.

Went here for a coffee and cake. My friend asked about gluten free biscuits and was given a long list of cakes available. My choice of lemon drizzle cake was also on the gf list. It's was light and moist with plenty lemon flavour. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff .

The staff were charming. Visited a few times, never disappointed with service or food. They always serve such lovely soup, their sandwiches are nice and good value. Do leave some space for their tray bakes, very yummy

Visited today for a light lunch. Warm, friendly service. We were led to a spotlessly clean table and the orders were taken quickly. Not long to wait and 2 delicious meals were served to us. Very reasonably priced and a pleasure to visit. This was our first time but it certainly will not be our last. Thoroughly deserving of a five star rating!

My friend and I visited today. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who escorted us to our seat. A young lady took our order at our table and brought it over for us.We had delicious Cullen Skink broth with bread and butter, then the cake trolley was wheeled over for us to make our selection.All very good prices.What a lovely place to visit and relax in, everyone was so pleasant. We thought it was reminiscent of tea rooms from long ago, in the best possible way.Thank you all, we will be back.

There are lots of gluten free lunch options here, crepes and sandwiches. I had a Brie and mango chutney gf crepe which was very tasty. Great value and big portions too. Very speedy service- will definitely be back!

I have visited the Acorn Centre many times and that should speak for itself. There is a lot of thought put into their menu so that it is never run of the mill. The restaurant itself if very clean and bright, the staff (who are all volunteers) are exceptionally attentive and well versed on the menu.

Dropped in looking for a late lunch for a group of 5. Sandwiches & cakes all very tasty but they had run out of a number of items from the menu by the time we arrived.Good value.Great location in Inverurie.

Had lunch here with my wife Saturday 3rd September. It's very peaceful and calming unlike other cafes where screaming children were the order of the day!Had soup and sandwiches with my wife having the premium toasted Brie and Cranberry sandwich.Food is very homely and service is very friendly and efficient. When we got home to Aberdeen we realised we had left out bag from Davidsons in the cafe!! We called and said we would not make it back before closing time. Mike offered to drive in to Aberdeen to deliver our meat to us!! So so happy that level of generosity and kindness still exists. Doubt any other staff at any other cafe would have offered to do the same!Many many thanks for a lovely lunch and fantastic additional service!

This is a lovely coffee shop which is run by volunteers and is connected to the church. They offer homemade soups, sandwich, platters and crepes. There is always a daily special dish. This place is excellent if you are gluten intolerant as they have a very good selection of GF homemade cakes and serve GF bread, of good quality and there soups are made GF.

A brilliant lunch enjoyed by all 5 of us. We will definitely be back!!! Friendly service and delicious food, at a great price.
