White Heather Hotel in Aberdeenshire

We did not stay at the hotel, just stopped in for lunch. It was a wonderful lunch. They do an over 60s special on a Friday. We had a three course lunch and every course was amazing. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

I had my best tasting Cullen Skink, the rest of the meal was very good, staff and surroundings were excellent.

A very disappointing meal. We were celebrating a friends birthday, 24 of us. We pre ordered from the seniors menu. Those that ordered haddock were given a quarter fish, the chicken fillets were so hard they had to be picked up to eat. We were in a room on our own which was really cold. Service was slow. Very disappointing, certainly won’t be back.

A spontaneous dinner for 2. Dining area has been refurbished, its very smart and modern. As always, an interesting menu, with e specials board too. We opted for the Cullen skink risotto as a starter, it was excellent, good flavour and texture combination. Mains were a chicken kebab, it was moist and full of flavour..The pork burger was equally tasty, the chips are fantastic. A point to notice was the portion size, it is significantly smaller which is an excellent thing, well done.. For pud we shared a cheesecake, it split opinion, was OK, but not up to par for the rest of the meal.. Service was a little slow, but not an issue. Will be back v soon.

Myself and friend went for lunch. I had a vegan lasagne, it came with a sad looking salad and I ordered chips as extra. The lasagne was all burnt on the top and the portion was so small. I said to my friend that it looked like a microwave meal, the correct size for one. I couldn’t eat the top because it was so dry and burnt. I did tell the lady serving but it fell on deaf and uncaring ears. It was a total disappointment and the price of it was outrageous. I said there and then I’d never return and I won’t. Unfriendly owner and staff. Not a place I’d recommend.

The White Heather Hotel is centrally located in Turriff. The dining area is nicely laid out and has a modern minimalistic feel about it. Service was quick and friendly and there was a wide ranging menu plus specials, all reasonably priced. Most importantly our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our meal. As we had not seen our friends for some time we sat chatting after the meal and we were not rushed out of the hotel by the staff, which has happened in the past to us. Recommended

We came here as a family to celebrate a birthday. We had afternoon tea. The dinning area held a large family and still had room for others. I was pleasantly surprised at the vegan sandwichs, hot food and cakes. The venue is clean and modern and it was an enjoyable few hours. The staff were busy, but were still attentive and pleasant. I would happily come here again and recommend this venue.

My family have raved about the afternoon tea in the past but it doesn’t seem to be as wow as it was previously. It was very good but the bread on the sandwiches was going hard on some so had been sitting out and the fillings could be a bit tastier (I think they used to give more sandwiches too). The cakes and service were good. Reasonable price about £19 I think.

Absolutely amazing place to eat and the food it amazing

The restaurant has always had a good reputation but I always found it rather expensive. However I went along at the invite of a friend who told me they serve small plates on "Pensioner Friday" and I was delighted to get a decent size of meal at a very affordable price! The food was fresh and piping hot, the coffee likewise, and the staff were lovely. This will now be a weekly lunch venue with my chums!

Great to have a selection of vegan dishes to choose from. Really delicious options. I'm slowly working my way through the menu! Lovely friendly staff too. Relaxed atmosphere.

Enjoyed an absolutely lovely pre christmas meal for a party of 8 on Christmas Eve. Extensive choice and food, atmosphere and pleasant staff were outstanding. Very reasonably priced for the high quality we received and they even offered special seasonal cocktails and drinks which was a lovely touch. A real gem. We will definitely be back to try the Turra Coo burger! Highly recommended.

We had a lovely meal here for our anniversary. Excellent choices for vegetarians; we had a vegetarian haggis in whisky sauce, and a sweet potato burger. It was all excellent- although I could definitely have eaten more fries! Staff were super too👍

Have chosen the White Heather Hotel in Turriff on several occasions for food due to the friendly staff , warm and welcoming and clean environment and of course the amazing menu which offers up meals designed by the head chef and his team using the best in local produce to create dishes you won’t be disappointed with. The White Heather Hotel in Turriff is one gem you really should visit in Aberdeenshire .

My partner ordered macaroni and onion rings, was very nice, waitress was nice and polite. I ordered the Ribeye done medium with surf and turf, received it well done and tough as an old boot, had it sent back and received the same again as a replacement, cooked ever so slightly less well done but still incredibly tough and unpleasant. Owner/manager proceeded to tell me it was my opinion and I was wrong and that the steak was perfectly fine and he had no complaints before, they refused to taste the steak to see how terribly tough it was. The owner was incredibly arrogant towards me regarding the complaint and had the audacity to charge me full price for the steak. I had two bites over all and paid £36 for the privilege. Couldn't in good faith recommend the place. Owner needs to fix his delusional and arrogant behaviour. Update* After doing some research on the advertised "Black gold beef" they claim its all reared and grass fed in Aberdeenshire but I have found its a product of Woodford which are a company based down south, so it's blatant false advertising. Frozen, tough and chewy steak from England for £36 and they are situated in a farming town 6 miles from the best beef in Scotland, insulting really!

Had a super comfortable weekend at the White Heather Hotel. Spotlessly clean well appointed room, wonderful bed and excellent shower. Breakfast is tailored to your choice and was excellent. High standards throughout the hotel with a great menu and very good wine choice. The staff were so friendly and helpful, northing was too much trouble, first class. Really enjoyed my stay🙂 First class.

I bought 2 large glasses of wine. But was asked to leave before I had finished my drink because the table was needed. There were plenty of other tables. Not very hospitable. And add insult to injury it was suggested to me that the best way cycle to Aberdeen was along the A road because it was a shorter distance. My B&B host strongly urged me not to, stating it's a fast road with heavy traffic. SAGE advice.

This was our first visit after a local recommended it. We were amazed at how nice it was from a food, decor and service point of view. From the outside, the White Heather looks ordinary, until you walk through the door. Nice, bright, modern and very clean. Nice menu selection and we both went for the three cheese macaroni. Great choice which the waitress agreed that we were on a winner. It came with garlic bread and fries. We also had home made coleslaw (yummy) and garden peas. It was washed down by a bottle of reasonably priced Malbec. We were pushed for time and we ordered home made sticky toffee pudding and citric tart to take away. The hotel manager came and spoke to us about our very good experience before we left. He also told us that there was an even bigger seating area downstairs with the same level of refinement We assured him that we would definitely be back again as this was a very good visit.

Lovely place to stay. Food very good and great portions sizes too! Gary and staff are very kind and welcoming. The rooms are comfy, well maintained, and cleaned to a high standard.

We enjoyed our meal (visit the hotel's website for menu). I had a standard fish supper after a large bowl of Cullen Skink...the tastiest Skink I've had for a good while. The fries with my fish were really great. My partner had salmon pasta which was equally tasty. Surroundings are a little basic but clean and moderately pleasant. The staff were very friendly and parochial as is to be expected from an eatery in a small farming town. The price was reasonable too. We'll be back now and again as the menu changes. I recommend the White Heather Hotel for a meal with your family or as a solitary experience.

Lovely meal for all the different ages of our family. All freshly prepared - nicely presented, reasonably priced and served with a smile. If you're hungry then go for the Turra Coo Burger - what a scoff. Well done the White Heather!

Three of us had a lovely Wednesday lunch here. Swift, friendly service. Open, clean surroundings, music playing in the background, with a fine ambience. A good varied choice on the menu. I ordered cream of chicken soup, which was the best soup I've had in ages! It was a meal in itself. I then added to this an enjoyable chicken curry. No need for supper. All at a fair price. The toilets were spotless too. I'd definitely return to the WHH if visiting Turriff again. Thank you the WHH.

Wonderfully cooked and served breakfast , great choices and Eggs Benedict I would recommend to everybody, but the other choices from full Scottish, to Omelets were all first class, freshly cooked to order and served by friendly attentive staff. EXCELENT

The food here is very very good for a reasonable price. Always presented attractively. You could not get better in Some fine dining restaurants. The serving staff are efficient and friendly. The ambiance is warm and attractive.

Nice menu selection, very nice staff, our food was delicious but the décor isn't great - quite blingy and more suited to a living room especially as they have a tv in here (never understand a restaurant with a tv in?!?! Sports bar yes but not a restaurant). Not the kind of place we'd go for an anniversary/romantic meal but nevertheless it was open when the Rustic Grill was closed and they were doing a roaring trade.

This hotel is old school. A country run hotel on the main street with just a few rooms but very well looked after by Sandra the General Manager who told me she had been doing hospitality since she was 14 and now at 73 still hard at it.This is more of a country Inn as opposed to a hotel but as I walked in the lady that greeted me Sylvia showed me to my very spacious bright double room with extremely comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom complete with power shower glass walk in unit.Everything shouted out very well looked after and sparkling clean.Wall mounted television with freeview and aided by the free WiFi made for a delightful evening in my room.Dinner was downstairs in the pub dining room a bright comfortable room and a sterling service from Sylvia.A bowl of homemade lentil soup so deliciously tasty and almost never ending it took An age to finish it but I enjoyed every mouthful. I always say as a chef if the soup isn’t good then the rest probably won’t be either. The soup was first class.When offered a cold meat salad these days it’s normally paper thin slices of processed plastic packaged meats.At the White Heather it was a stunning selection of roasted meats each about 1/2 inch thick and plenty of it Rib eye medium rare beef pork gigot and delicious gammon served alongside chopped salad boiled eggs and the sauces required supplied. Baby boiled potatoes made it up for me.Italian ice cream and coffee ended a pleasant experience for me.After a restful comfortable sleep a lovely hot shower I was presented with a great breakfast of fresh fruit green yogurt and the full Scottish all out together with top quality ingredients from a great quality butcher.It’s not often I can wax in about how good a stop over can be but at the White Heather there old school and come from a time when personal service came with good manners and great quality food.I will most certainly be dropping in past again.

I would highly recommend this hotel in Turrif, Aberdeenshire. Had room 4 which was the smallest however quite adequate for our needs. Very comfortable bed, very clean and equipped with hairdryer and good supply of fluffy towels. Staff could not be more welcoming and friendly, nothing was an issue for them. Had meals in hotel both nights and a good variety to choose from. Breakfast was excellent and again whatever you wanted was supplied.

This place never ceases to deliver excellent food, exceptional service at very reasonable prices. Stopped in when it was busy but they were still able to squeeze us in with no hassle or drama. The staff there are always helpful and cheery, even when the weather outside is dismal. Keep up the great standards you have set!!

My daughter and I booked a room here rather last-minute, during our recent trip through Scotland. The staff was extremely accommodating, our room was clean and cozy, and service was wonderful.

The restaurant was empty throughout my visit on a quiet Tuesday in April. Service was efficient and served with a smile but little chat. I chose the chicken fillets in batter which was nice. Toilets were spotless. Good value.

Visited the white heather hotel for an afternoon tea as an early birthday treat. We really enjoyed the food and it was great value for money as we each got a tray with sandwiches and a tray with homebakes and a glass of prosecco. Anything that was left over we got to take home with us. Lovely staff aswell. Would definitely go back.

I visited for dinner recently and I was hugely impressed! The setting is pleasant, the lady who was taking orders/serving the food was hugely welcoming and friendly.

The second time we`ve popped in here for lunch. Good choice of meals on menu / board. The chef and the waiting staff do an excellent job. We`ll be back and I would recommend to anyone.

The White Heather just seems to go from strength to strength and both service and meals never fail to satisfy. The Sunday carvers is just like home cooked and the portions are a challenge to finish but try it, you’ll be glad you did!!

Excellent food - well cooked and presented to a very high standard. Real value for money. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone travelling either on business or pleasure in the Aberdeen area. It also has rooms which if I had known in advance, I would certainly have booked; rather than the B&B; on the outskirts of Turriff which I ended up using.

Was in today for a quick bite to eat, but ended up having the full roast as it was a very good price. The food that came to the table was amazing meat was cooked perfectly as were the vegetables gravy was spot on too . The staff are great amazing place I and the family will be back.

Picked this from Trip Advisor as being closest to Gardenstown. The location was central in the town. The staff were excellent, attentive and helpful. Decor was very good and the food itself was plentiful and excellent. Probably the best roast I have ever had outside my own house.

Enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea today with my mum and aunt. We all got given 2 dishes, one savoury and one sweet, There was so much choice - sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini vol-au-vents, scotch egg and mini quiches and sweets such as meringues, macaroons, biscuits, scones with jam& cream. All which were very tasty! None of us managed to finish everything so were provided with a box to take the remainder of our goodies home. Prosecco is can be added but as we were driving, we didn’t have any on this occasion. Staff very and attentive. Would definitely recommend this to place if you fancy heading out for an afternoon of tea/coffee and cakes ☕️.

Have eaten here many times and now one of our favourite restaurants. I gave the WH 4 stars in my last review due to the menu not changing and limited choice. This is definitely not the case now. Fantastic choice of specials and the menu has huge variety. Staff, food, surroundings are 5 star!

What a find! My partner and I were visiting Turriff for the show so booked a table for our evening meal. Fantastic. All the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. We shared a starter which was kindly divided and plated in the kitchen. I ordered sea bass on risotto which was cooked to perfection and my partner tucked into the Sunday roast, which he said was fabulous. Will definitely visit again.

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Turriff. The food is always great and the staff always friendly. The portions are large enough to fill the hungriest of appetites and the burger there is fantastic, but alas I’ve never managed to finish it yet so will have to keep going back until I succeed. Sandra and the team do a great job and you’ll always get a friendly welcome.

A Very nice place, to eat or snack, I have eaten several times and it has always been Very good, the staff are very helpful and pleasant, the service was very good the restaurant is very clean and tidy, A very well run Establishment.

We asked a local where to go for a good lunch and White Heather was recommended. It’s on the Main Street and looked quiet from the outside but when we opened the door it was full of people eating with only one table left . Our waitress Gwen who was excellent sat us down with menus and left us to study the extensive list . There were big meals and lighter meals . We saw them coming through from the kitchen plates laden with food.

We had supper here tonight and once we managed to decide what to order from a very appetising menu we were very pleased with our choices. My husband chose the monkfish scampi and has declared it the best scampi he's ever tasted. My lemon/parmesan chicken was to die for. Spent a penny and pleased to say the loos were immaculate and smelled so clean, for me the loos are always a guide to the cleanliness of the kitchen (just my opinion). Our meals were beautifully presented, roasting hot and not overwhelmingly large portions. The lady behind the bar was super efficient in taking orders and waiting on the customers. Compliments to the chef - great job.

Had Salmon Goujons with Lime sauce, served with sweet potato chips and the presentation of the dish was excellent. Quality of the food and cooking was also excellent!

I was fortunate enough to spend two very comfortable weeks at the White Heather Hotel . This lovely boutique Hotel has spacious rooms with a contemporary finish whilst providing all the comforts of home. This has been renovated within the last 2 years and has been completed to a very high standard. Plus the room rates very very reasonable. Good strong Wi Fi signal which is always a big bonus for me.

Lunch Time meal - lovely relaxing look to the decor when you enter the door - warm welcome - ordered drinks which came soon after ordering - food order taken and waited very little time before it arrived. Food was lovely - good presentation - good portion sizes and all tasted really good. Staff checked during meal that all was okay - finished meal and were asked if we wanted to see sweet menus, which we declined - staff nice and chatty - look forward to going back. - Starters, main meals and Sweets available - good range of options - specials were on the board - good number of lighter meal options also available. Nice find and would fully recommend a future visit.

There is always a lot of choice on the specials board. Recently I chose the Cajun chicken with halloumi cheese, pecan nuts, cranberries on bed of salad, with sweet potato fries. The combination of flavours was absolutely delicious.

We arrived at 1pm, it wasn't that busy. We were given a high chair for our 1 year old but no menus!. 30 mins later we asked for menus...which finally arrived. Thereafter the service was good and the food was enjoyed by everyone. The home made soup was exceptional and sandwiches and paninis were tasty

Just returned home from having an evening Meal at the hotel We had fish in beer batter with homemade chips and Monkfish scampi in batter with homemade chips again both were perfect when arrived after a short wait and very well presented both ended with clean plates. We then had sweets one lemon and coconut cheesecake and one carrot cake again couldn’t fault either and struggled but cleaned plates again. The girl serving was very pleasant asking how Meal was during the course and again as we paid bill. Price was very reasonable with the portions amply. Menu had a fair choice only down side for me was no steak pie or meat choice on menu apart from steaks. Will rerun with no hesitation.

We discovered this gem of a restaurant yesterday and had to return for the final meal of our trip.

We had tea on a Sunday evening just after 5pm .We order the carvery and I was offered a half portion which was ample for me but my husband had the full one and he was beginning to struggle by the end though he did finish it but just had room for a coffee which was lovely .This was our first visit and the staff were very helpful and would definitely be back and recommend to friends

We visited this restaurant on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. The waitress was very welcoming. We had chicken strips with a mango dressing and black pudding bonbons with apple sauce for starters and then fish and chips and lasagne for main courses. Good side salad with a lovely dressing and hand cut chips served with the lasagne. Will definitely be back.

Only our second visit as we live an hour away but wish we were closer, interesting menu, not the usual dishes you see everywhere else.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time as a birthday treat for a friend. We managed three courses, but only just. We both choose the curried cauliflower soup, followed by beef stroganoff for my friend and chicken in a honey & mustard sauce for myself, we both opted for the vanilla pannacotta with berries for our dessert and everything was delicious as usual. Staff very friendly and can't do enough for you. There is a also a very good snack menu.

Have been a few times now and the food has always been really good. The staff are friendly and the surroundings are bright and modern. I would have given it 5 stars but my only criticism is that the menu never really changes and doesn't have a great amount of choice. There are specials always but again some family favourites wouldn't go a miss.

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante con un gruppo di 20 persone, all'atto della prenotazione ci hanno chiesto di scegliere le portate, cosa che ci ha molto deluso e creato qualche dubbio, del resto, uno dei piaceri di cenare in un ristorante è anche quello di scegliere facendosi consigliare, magari lasciandosi ispirare dl posto, invece abbiamo dovuto scegliere le portate basandoci sull'intuito. Per degli stranieri che mangiano in un ristorante tipico non è certo il massimo, la gran parte dei piatti inseriti nel menù non erano chiari.
