Yvi's House Of Tea in Aberdeenshire

Used to be a great place to eat but it closed no longer after covid struck used to go there reagulary miss it a lot

Excellent little bakehouse for lunch or a cake and coffee. I visited with my young family, my wife and i had a pretzel baguette with chicken and bacon, the pretzel baguette was excellent, fresh and tasty, and something i had never had before. My daughter had the sausage, chips and beans, the sausage was a german type sausage which she hadnt had before but enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

Very good gluten free selection (baguettes and waffles). Didn’t sample the waffles but the baguette was delicious. Will be back to try the waffles at some point. Reasonably priced too. Good kids selection of food too- could do with increasing the size of the sandwich portion (just a half sandwich- rather than 2 slices of bread, salad and crisps)

Have been to the 'waffle cafe' as my kids call it many times, it's their favourite place to go to celebrate or as a reward after being brave! The food is so tastly, our favourites are the currywurst and the soups, pretzel buns with black pudding and of course the waffles. Everyone is always so friendly and it's very accomodating for children, it is always such a treat to visit.

Popped in for coffee and cake and weren't impressed; in fact walked out. We walked up to the cake station to see what was on offer but without ceremony were told to take a seat. Two or three staff then ignored us. Seemed they were more intent on finishing up for the afternoon . Terrible ambience; dark and depressing; and certainly not welcoming. Young girl certainly requires training in customer service.

I have visited here twice, and really enjoyed the food and the staff are very friendly however the first time I visited service was a bit slow but it was during a busy period. Only downside is the food is quite expensive.

I had been in the tea room for an afternoon tea, (the cakes are delicious btw). Today we had lunch at the place. I decided to have a Blueberry waffle which is really nice. As I am lactose intolerant, so I have to watch what cheeses I have. They offered the waffle as a vegan option. One thing I have to wonder is about the cheese used in the paninis and baguettes, is the cheese vegan or "normal"? If you are a meat-eater, you have lots of options, as a veggie/vegan, not so much choice, which is disappointing :(

Absolutely love visiting this Cafe and it it deserves the recognition. The staff, in particular the owner, are lovely and go out of their way to assist you. The Cafe is calm and peaceful and menu is wonderful. Highly recommend over and over again

Fancy waffles and milkshakes, hearty lunches friendly and welcoming. good food and coffee. Loads of different teas to choose form. The scones are a highlight but sell quickly

Went here on a recommendation and was not disappointed. After being recommending the currywurst and chips I have never looked back. Every visit since my first I have eaten the same meal. I am tempted to try other things but always steer in the currywurst direction. Yvi herself has even recommended the burger as an alternative and says it’s just as good. You will not be disappointed.

Unexpectedly dropped in and had tea. The staff were distracted however the pots of tea served with loose tea leaves made us smile as did the China teacups and saucers. A nice place to catch up with friends but lacks a warm friendly atmosphere.

I ate here with my mum and children today. We pre-booked our table a few days ago, and the table was set up and waiting for us when we arrived. Quirky carriages to sit in and a nice, friendly atmosphere. The food was really nice, and the waffles were lovely...I’ll not need to eat for the rest of the day now!! I would definitely visit again.

I want to like this place but they just keep disappointing! Today my daughter ordered a half waffle. I checked when it arrived and was assured it was a half. When I went to pay I was charged for a whole waffle. Three waitresses behind the counter with their arms folded, and no chance of them backing down! I ended up giving up trying to get any sense out of them and paid full price. Inexperienced staff seem to let this place down every time.

Bank Holiday visit as my fav haunt closed for the day so off we went with grandchildren for a cuppa and eats. Home bakes were good as was the coffee and pricing similar to other nearby cafes but no ambience

Me and my mother, who is gluten free, came here for some lunch and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was - it's quite an unassuming place from the outside but the menu is really good and the gf options are extensive. Will definitely by back

Delicious chunky veg soup served piping hot with a warm crusty roll-just what I needed on a cold wet day!

The Tea House looked very inviting and was packed with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, we were en route from Aberdeen to Inverness by train and were short of time so we decided on the take out ice cream cones......outcome was.....sublime, tasty, mouth-watering, value for money.....take your pick.

Waffles are so good here, cooked to perfection. Staff always friendly, good selection of food and cakes. My only criticism would be maybe upgrade the ice cream to something a bit nicer or even local, it’s fairly Cheap and sometimes icy

Has a half waffle which was filling and tasty but the star was actually the tea. In a wee teapot, trivet and candle and a beautiful china cup and saucer.

Visited here again this year and was surprised to see its now expanded its tea house restaurant. Again waffles were amazing. I choose to have the Bacon, blueberry and maple syrup and my friend had the Oreo, Chocolate and vanilla ice cream waffle x

i didnt expect to find this little gem of a cafe hiding at the back of a sweetie shop but there it was, inside is suprisingly big. i went with a few friends and we were all very impressed with our food. the hot chockalate was so big and tasted amazing never thought i was gonna finish it and i dont say that words often will be returning very soon to try more

Never tried waffles before and can’t wait to try again. I had savoury with bacon and egg and my friend had a sweet one with ice cream. Both were amazing. Despite the outstanding tea menu we had coffee which was delightful. Excellent cheery service.

Great selection of loose leaf teas, all served in cute wee bone China cups. The tea pots are placed on a warmer, nice touch. Tray bakes are lovely. Saw others with the well talked about waffles, they looked great!! Would definitely recommend/ visit again

The service was a bit slow, but the food was excellent. If you order a pot of tea, the teapot is placed on a warmer, which is a nice touch. The menu has a good mix of standard favourites and more unusual options. I didn't have a cake, as my main course was filling but the selection on view looked tempting.

Tucked in between shops on the main street through Inverurie. Drawn in by the name and the view inside with the café visible at the back of the premises. I just had a cup of coffee and a traybake but the larger meals visible at other tables certainly looked enticing so I'll be back for lunch someday soon.

Visit every time we’re in Inverurie. Great gift shop leading to the excellent cafe serving snacks, coffee, cakes & specials. Friendly staff, good prices, a must visit place

Food was good but lack of hygiene let the place down. Table not wiped clean. Had to tip toe in toilet because of water on floor and toilet itself was dirty. A serviette placed under a table leg presumably to stop it wobbling is an image I can't get out of my mind.

Strong favourite with family and friends, the soup is amazing, waffles divine, Stornaway pretzel breakfast works all day long! The range of teas to pick from is overwhelming, and they are delicious!

Friend came down from the Highlands for a visit. On the recommendation from family we went to this tearoom. Had half breakfast waffles and 3 coffees each. Food fine. Girls serving are good but didn’t appreciate comment from lady behind counter when friend went to order our third coffee. She told us she thought she would have to charge us rent!!! We were there for almost 3 hours and paid £28 for food and drinks but we weren’t aware of a sign notifying people of a time limit customers are allowed to stay. It wasn’t even busy when she made the comment. Didn’t appreciate it and certainly won’t be returning.

I did a review last year when we visited Yvi's although had eaten waffle before I thought about taking picture lol. Last year I had the banana waffle this year I went for the blueberry and if I don't say a great choice hard to believe it's Gluten Free...x

Stopped for a bit of food yesterday with the family and can honestly say I was very impressed. Excellent service, staff very well trained and know there stuff and the quality of food was of a very high standard. Definitely recommend and will be back for sure!

Yvi's is really expensive. The sweet store is good. But the cafe is just expensive and i dont know why you would bother.

I have been to Yvi;s often when in the town.They have easy access for my friend who is in a wheelchair. Staff helpful and make you feel welcome.

I've been to Ivy's twice. To my knowledge this is the only place in the northeast of Scotland where you can get a German Currywurst and potato salad. Loved every bite of it. For dessert my friend and I shared the Blackforest waffle - and we both had ample, because it's so big. It was simply delicious.

We sort of stumbled on this place when out shopping and I'm so glad we did.

I am not much of a waffle person, but my children and partner are so I decided to have a go at a savoury waffle hoping that it would be more appealing as I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

Went in again, I usually order the curry bratwurst, but decided to try a savoury waffle. So glad I did, I have found my favourite food. The BBQ chicken waffle is to die for, the only problem I have now is that I want to try more and more and more

I went with my son for something to eat before his activities. My son had the half waffle, and believe me, if that's the half I dread to see the size of the full one. It was huge. And also very tasty. Needless to say i was only allowed 1 taste.

Excellent range of teas and waffles, very friendly staff and good relaxed atmosphere. Can't really ask for more for a morning cuppa.

What a Lovely friendly welcome we had from Yvi and her husband. There's an excellent choice of teas, all hand crafted and developed by Yvi herself. And the waffles are to die for! The apple strudel one is my favourite & my daughter loves the Nutella one! I can definitely recommend going

I hadn't been inside this shop since it was McPherson's a long time ago! I was pleasantly surprised about all the lovely and some unusual items in the gift shop as we walked through like loose teas etc - it's worth a look round.

Very nice and friendly place to spend wonderful time with family and get the delicious food 😍😍😍. My son had a birthday and they surprised us to putting the candles on his waffle it was so nice.

We visited Yvi's for soup and waffles and were not disappointed! The soup (spicy coconut and lentil) was absolutely delicious (so much that my two fussy kids ended up bickering over who would finish mine!) Waffles were yummy - a real treat. I prefer the savoury waffles - the maple bacon and peach was seriously good. Kids enjoyed the super chocolatey feast of the waffles with ice-cream and Oreos - not for the faint-hearted! Our friend had the potato salad and curry wurst - something a bit different on a dreich day in Inverurie. Waiting staff were polite and attentive, and kind enough to reserve us a table for our large group of 7. We'll definitely be back!

I took my daughter for a last summer holiday treat. She had a waffle which looked great. Unfortunately someone had been and taken some money so one of the staff chased him, the owner or chef wasn't happy the girl had chased this mam and was very vocal and loud about it and telling the staff off. This really upset us to hear and put us off our food as the girl who had chased him was clearly upset but the owner or chef kept telling her off. We wont be back!

My husband and I took our daughter here as a treat for her birthday. She is dairy intolerant and we are vegan anyway. When placing the order I made it very clear that we are vegan as the menu says they can cater for vegans (the only reason we went here) when her waffle arrived it had ice cream on it I told the waitress she can't have dairy. She came back seconds later after "checking" and said yes it was all dairy free. I took her word for it and now my daughters face is covered in an itchy rash on her birthday so clearly it wasn't! Very disappointed will not be returning.

Last minute lunch away from the office with a work colleague. Chose sandwiches from the mid week lunch menu. Overpriced and poorly presented. Salad in sandwich was only a few leaves of iceberg lettuce. No imagination. It was a case of ........."is that it". Friendly staff but will not be back as it did not meet our expectations. The choice of eateries in Inverurie is vast so its important to at least equal the competition.

My boyfriend tried the 'Currywurst with Pommes - germanstyle'. Of course we know you could not get a original sausage from Germany in Scotland and usually we are not looking forward for German dishes in a foreign country... but sadly there was no 'curry', it was a barbecuesausage.

Lovely service and lovely waffles! We had 2 Banoffee ones and an Apple Strudel - everything was delicious! We opted for the half waffles, but they were still big which was good and a good value for money . There's a fab selection of tees on offer and also a yummy looking selection of cakes and tray bakes.

Had some beautiful loose teas all made by Yvis. Food, cakes and coffees all available here all served with a smile and friendly chat. Also sells lovely loose teas and gifts. Well worth a visit. Catered for gluten free as well.

Popped into Yvi's for Coffee and found out that they served Gluten Free Homemade Waffles...Delicious. Also you must try out their Speciality Teas. ☺ x

We went here for lunch just by chance while out shopping in Inverurie. We had to wait a while before any of the waitresses acknowledged we were actually there however. I had a burger which was nice although on the small side, my partner had a waffle which she enjoyed but we were a bit shocked at the bill nearly £20 for two small portions of food and coffee. Doubt it will be my first choice to go for lunch in Inverurie again.

Have been at Yvi's many times and was never disappointed. The choices of teas are just outstanding (black, green, roibosh and fruit) and the food is great. I love their waffles. And the homemade cakes are scrumptious.

Soup, sandwiches and "Stornaway Brioch" (bacon,egg and black pudding" all excellent ....... but cheap hard uncomfortable seating, matching tables, random service all add up to "OK" rather than "great"

As ever the service and food was first class. Their soups are amazing. Had curried lentil and coconut - very satisfying.

Attracted to this place by window display and nice bright gift shop at front of tea room area. Lots of interesting and unusual gifts. Had a huge selection of tempting teas and nice choice of eats. Decor was unique and very peaceful and calming.Lovely place to catch up with a group of friends as not too big. Background music also calming and relaxing.

Was introduced to this place by my best friend. 1st visit I tried waffle with bacon & maple syrup. OMG!!! it was divine and had a lovely cup of tea served in china cup. Gorgeous could not fault it.

Simply the best breakfast in town. Cumberland sausages, crispy bacon, Stornoway black pudding, perfectly cooked fried-egg with runny yolk, beans, tomato, and toast.

We went for a meeting debrief (and lunch) We had a lentil soup which was lovely and thick and a half banoffee waffle for one and a half chicken BBQ waffle followed by a half Forrero Roche waffle Lovely quiet place with a great selection. I also had a pot of strawberry and rhubarb tea which was served with red fruit sugar. What a beautiful concoction!

My wife and I went here on Saturday for lunch. It did look a little pricey for what you were getting but there was a combo deal on for a waffle and drink for £10:90. We asked the waitress if it was okay to share and she stayed that was fine. However when my wife came to pay we were charged £12.40...! When I queried this I was told it was because we got an addition plate to eat off of and therefore the combo offer was invalid. I did point out that we had told the waitress as to what we were doing when ordering and she never informed us that there would be an additional charge. I then spoke to the owner / manager, a rather stern women, she was unrelenting on the price. Suffice to say, we will not be going back.

The chicken and bacon pretzel roll was AMAZING!!! Can't wait to go back and have it again and need to try a waffle as they looked yummy.

A real treat to visit here, friendly efficient staff, so much choice, pretzel burger was delicious! Topped off by a mouth watering Christmas waffle.

Now my favourite place for a warm drink or lunch. The food and drinks are so original and service so friendly. A delight. I have visited on my own, with family and with friends and every time I come away happy!!

Tasty! My favourite tea's Mango Kick. Give it a try. Tea's served in really nice china cups. All the soups are amazingly delicious.

Food is overpriced for what you get and service was very slow. They maybe need to look at their prices and the time it takes to get things to you instead of slating other places.

This is surely one of the very best places to eat in Inverurie, in our opinion. Living in Turriff, when visiting Inverurie we usually stop for something to eat, and since visiting yvi's house of tea a few months back, we have made this our regular stop! The food is always so fresh, and carefully prepared. All done in the German style, it gives an added twist to the taste of the food. The burgers for instance come with a homemade relish (a recipe which I would happily pay for!). The waffles are crisp, and full of flavour, with a multitude of toppings to choose from. The staff are all polite, and we have a laugh with them when we visit. The establishment is extremely clean and obviously looked after with great pride. To anyone visiting Inverurie, I would heartily suggest yvi's house of tea as a place to dine, and perhaps try something a little different. Certainly worthwhile trying it out!

My mother and I have been regulars to Yvi's Tea Room since she first opened in Rosemount Viaduct. Though we miss the cosiness of this location, the new location makes for a great day trip from Aberdeen and the bigger premises means that they have been able to start doing savoury meals, too. Yvonne is a very friendly lady who comes from the island of Sylt in Germany, where this style of tea room originates. There are even German beach chairs which act as cosy little booths and give it an authentic touch. In her tea room, you will find a huge variety of hand-blended teas which go deliciously with a waffle of your choice. Traditional German savoury meals such as Currywurst are served here daily, though something sweet is an absolute must!

Popped in for lunch and had a lovely bowl of soup with warm bread, nice coffee. Staff very attentive,well looked after.

We went there and it was not good takes half an hour to get your food waffle tastes eggy I expected it to be good but is rubbish

Lovely tea house with a superb selection of teas. The Black Forest waffle was really tasty, glad I only ordered a half portion! Definitely be back to visit again soon.

I visited here whilst getting my car tyres changed over. We were going to go to another coffee shop - Inverurie has so many, but we were attracted by the blackboard sign so went in. We had two lovely fruit scones, one tea and one coffee. All was delicious. The staff were all friendly and chatty, the coffee shop was very clean and tidy as we're the loos. Their gift shop has some really quirky gifts - bought a few Christmas presents too, lots of locally produced and Scottish gifts. My only suggestion for the coffee shop would be to use local butters and jams rather than French butter and English jam (although to be fair, both were perfectly acceptable). I will definitely be back.

Great tasty fresh food. Delicious main and then a waffle for desert. Amazing would describe the Nutella waffle. The burger was so good my husband had a 2nd! Friendly and welcoming staff who were able to give recommendations. Will definitely be back soon.

OMG, can you even say no to those waffles?!! Giant, yummy, delicious waffles!! And so many more things in Yvi's. Wonderfully blended teas, this special sugar they produce with so many different flavours...))) you can absolutely tell - they do have such a big knowledge of what they are doing and it's first hand!! No other place can compare with quality of food here and this imagination for taste and deliciously!! Best place EVER! We definitely be back, again and again!!

We visited Yvi's House of Tea and what a visit. The food was excellent and the Bannoffee waffle - what can I say?? freshly made and absolutley delicious. I love the way tea is served with a little warmer to keep it hot. If you have not been before - why not?? Make sure you visit this great shop in Inverurie, you won't be disappointed!

Have visited yvi's many times. Food is amazing with recommended teas to match. Relaxed atmosphere and Yvi always has a smile to welcome you. Staff are always very attentive and knowledgeable about specials.

This little place is spotlessly clean & nicely decorated They serve great coffee & a huge selection of teas along with a good selection of food The waffles were lovely & my husband had the Bratwurst which he really enjoyed The staff were really pleasant & we talked to the lady who owns it & she is hoping to have german beers next year We are not local however we do visit Scotland every year so i'm sure we will visit again

Not, thank goodness, another tea and shortbread type establishment of bland food and instant coffee one dreads to encounter in rural Scotland.

My friend and I had a catch up breakfast. We both ordered waffles, my friend had a breakfast waffle and I had a sweet one. They both had plentiful toppings and were tasty. There is a large tea menu, all tea made and brought to the table in tea pots with warmers. There was a good selection of other cakes and nice sandwiches. I had a good chat with the owner about German baking. We will definitely return.

Went in with a few friends not long ago and was not disappointed at all. The waffles were amazing, I had the most popular which is the banoffee one it was huge but so great! My friend had a beautiful looking pretzel baguette which was unusual but was very nice also. There are also a very huge variety of hand blended teas made by Yvi herself! Including green, black, fruit and herbal teas. Very good variety on the menu including soup, sandwiches, panini's, and the pretzel baguettes and buns. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The presentation throughout the restaurant was lovely including table warmers for tea and hand filtered coffee pots. Will definitely be back again soon. Loved it!

Was recommended this place by a family friend and it did not disappoint! Amazing selection of loose tea which comes with a wee burner to keep it hot and it's own sugar. Also ordered waffles which were massive and generously topped!

From the initial greeting and polite recommendation from the staff to the service, I ordered a breakfast waffle that was delicious. Indeed it was soft and fluffy with maple syrup and bacon cooked to perfection.

The last time I visited this place a couple of years ago it wasn't a German Tearoom and was very good.
