Stopped here for a light lunch. Greeted with a smile. Lovely location, looking out to sea. Whole establishment has great light. Service was excellent. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Didn't have to ask for anything, including brown sugar , which was in sachets on the table. Hooray!! Finally a place that offers it without having to plead. I had a prawn sandwich which came on lovely fresh bread. Daughter had an egg mayo sandwich. Couldn't believe how swiftly the food came out to everyone . They were very busy. All ages. Definitely one of the most enjoyable lunches I've had in a long time. Whole establishment was spotless. Don't drive by. Stop and enjoy a very pleasant experience. 10 out of 10 from me. And I don't say that very often!!

Enjoyed a Sunday lunch here whilst staying in the area. The meat was cooked beautifully, crispy roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings were perfect (says someone born and bred in Yorkshire!). I would have preferred my food a little hotter although my husband thought his meal was ok. Would have also had the option to have custard with the apple pie instead of squirty cream.

We went to the Quaich cafe on Saturday 4th January 2025 as a family of 6 adults and 4 children. They were able to accommodate us at short notice having only booked that morning. I was seriously impressed not only by the excellent food and the variety available, the overall experience was excellent. From the ambiance, to the friendly staff, to the speed of service and the variety of menu items available. The meal we had was excellent. Two of us had the Highland cheeseburger with the addition of haggis. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. Some of the children had Mac n Cheese which was delicious. Without exception our entire party thought the meal was really good. The quality of the ingredients was excellent. The prices were reasonable and fair. The staff were friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Not much more I can say really except we will be back at the Quaich cafe with the family again in the near future. Keep up the good work. A great place to eat in Fochabers Now my go to place.

We arrived after walking from Craigellachie. Our walking instructions had said that the owners would pick us up at Ballindalloch Station, but when we phoned we were told that this was no longer the case, and we had to walk another 1.5 miles in the pouring rain. After a struggle to work out what direction the hotel was in, we contacted the owner again who didn't seem to know where we were. We eventually worked it out with google Maps. However the hotel was pleasant and the showers were particularly good. There is a set menu at £30 per head, offering only one choice for each course. We would have preferred to maybe have a choice of 2 menus. The rooms were good and the staff were lovely. We found the drinks to be expensive. Breakfast was nice and the lady who serves breakfast was lovely.

We popped into the Phoenix Cafe for a quick coffee and cake treat while passing then returned the next 4 mornings as it had such a beautiful calm feeling. The coffee was delicious and I adored the truffles. My son enjoyed his brownies and soft drink. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Let me kick off by saying what not to expect: this is not a fancy hotel with subservient staff catering to your every whim. At this place, you are quite literally a guest, joining the owner and his family in their house. If this aligns with your expectations, then you are in a good place. The owner, Tom, runs the bar, where your pre-dinner drinks are accompanied by friendly locals, happily sharing a story or two on the day's events. The bar is stocked with a nice selection of reasonably priced whisky (Scotch of course) and gins, catering to every taste. Dinner is a convivial affair, where conversation is quickly intermingled between local patrons and guests staying in the hotel, while the menu offers a nice selection of local food, lovingly prepared by the lady of the house. All in all, a most excellent experience, completely in line with our expectations of a more rural hotel/restaurant.

I bought lunch here today and really wish I hadn’t bothered, the soup was supposed to be cream of mushroom but was anything but creamy. It was this with really large pieces of mushroom which were difficult to eat with a spoon. The cheese scone was a strange colour and had a really weird taste. It used to be a great place to eat but was sold recently and is to be avoided. I will not return!

First visit here and I have to say I really liked the fish and chips. Went for the haddock and chips. It was extremely nice. The chips were cooked well and the Haddock had lots of taste. Prices were very reasonable. Staff were friendly.

Went last night and ordered large haddock supper single scampi two chips cheese curry sauce. Also a pickled onion. Waiting in queue the portions of food looked great getting boxed up for customers. Number 26 was called and we happily headed off to enjoy. Disaster! One not very large Haddock Supper! NO Scampi...another small single fish? NO pickled onion but a gherkin! Where did you guys get it wrong? Did you not understand Scottish? Or is it just another case of ripping off the tourist?
