We popped into the Phoenix Cafe for a quick coffee and cake treat while passing then returned the next 4 mornings as it had such a beautiful calm feeling. The coffee was delicious and I adored the truffles. My son enjoyed his brownies and soft drink. The staff were friendly and helpful.

First impressions were that the staff seemed bored and rather sullen. Didn't feel welcome but ordered anyway. Tables needed cleaning, no urgency to attend to them. Soup good but wrap unimaginative and had to ask for it to be warned. Cheese scone had little flavour and looked tastier than it was. Disappointed..

Opted for avocado and smoked tofu on sourdough toast with decaf tea and apple juice. The juice was fresh and zingy. The breakfast was disappointingly lacking in flavour and very dry despite the avocado. The cakes looked delicious so maybe I’ll give it another go as a great little spot.

This charming little café may look “normal” at first sight, but if you look deeper you may notice that it’s woven into the heart of The Park Ecovillage and Spiritual community at the edge of Findhorn, with it’s unique character and community feel. To understand what I mean, well you’ll have to go and see for yourself, which should be very worth it because it’s a unique place. I suggest you visit when the visitor’s centre is open so you have a chance to learn a bit about The Park. Back to the café: friendly and charming staff, good vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options for food, dangerously delicious sweets, good selection of local beers. The café is in the same building as Universal Hall and is open often when there are events happening in The Hall. Also the café organizes it’s own events: there is folk music almost every week; petry, spoken word and music open mic once or twice a month; silent disco until late almost every month; and more; see their social media.

A lovely pit stop during a weekend bike ride, this cafe in the Findhorn Eco community is a local favourite, for good reason. Lovely coffee and I was delighted to find that they are one of a diminishing number of cafes who don't charge extra for oat milk. Thank you!! If you can do this then so should other cafes. The freshly baked fruit scones were delightful, the best I've ever had.

Relaxing atmosphere and full of good vibes. I love the delicious and nourishing Phoenix Hug, my favourite cup of tea, without any cafeine. A great choice of lunches, and tempting sweet treats. Friendly staff, and the option to sit outside on the south-facing terras near the water feature, or being cosy inside. The Phoenix Cafe is an essential part of our inspiring Ecovillage Findhorn.

After several mediocre lunches recently elsewhere, we were very happy with our visit to this slightly alternative cafe. Best by far. Tasty home-made sweet potato & spinach curry, a well filled brown wrap with brie, cranberry & walnuts, chocolate brownie & Chia with berries, washed down with the best coffee we have had for a while. Thoroughly recommend.

I went to Findhorn the other week with my friend. Love the place, people. The cakes and coffee were very lovely but I must say that the Greek Summer Salad and chilli on the bake potato we ordered were very average, to be honest maybe below average. So sorry to write this up but hoping that your cooks could do a little more seasoning to mains. The greek salad would be delicious with a splash of lemon juice, pepper, salt and hint of nooch. And the chilli should definitely have some more species to it. I think it's important to take your time with preparing food to make it taste delicious. I could just taste food thrown together if that makes sense. I will be happily back as I love the foundation. And I wish you all the best on cooking journey and lots of happy customers <3 Love from Aberdeen. Lucia x

My wife and i visited the cafe twice while on holiday at Findhorn holiday park. We thoroughly enjoyed both visits. There is a good choice of food on offer. We had coffee and cakes. The cakes were very tasty and the choices differed from the usual ( eg -apricot and almond , pear and blueberry) There is seating both inside and outside the cafe and all covid protocols are in place. The cafe is a lovely relaxing place to visit and the friendly attentive service is the icing on the cake.

The staff at the Phoenix cafe clearly have no catering experience nor perhaps much actual work experience. The is a palpable hostility about the place, a loft air of arrogance and clear disdain for paying customers. Its crazy that a cafe would behave in this way. They want you to feel grateful for eating their precious food, which is quite bland and I doubt organic at all. Alternatively, the various normal cafes in Forres are very friendly, the service is quick, menus and food are good. Very disappointed with the Phoenix Cafe.

Visited this cafe a number of times. Unfriendly to the point of being down right miserable. My husband ordered a coffee and a slice of cake, I couldn’t believe how small they’d managed to cut the slice. I was shocked. To add insult to injury a local came in just after us and ordered the same cake, she received a slice that was at least 3 times bigger! Not kidding. The coffee is good but that does not make up for the favouritism they show to the locals, and the grumpy service. The Bakehouse cafe in Findhorn has great food and coffee and we are treat without partiality, with super friendly service. Go there instead.

We drove to the Findhorn Foundation and parked by the shop with the intention of walking to the dunes to take a look at the wind turbines at close quarters. The problem was we had to pass the Phoenix cafe! We had been in before when it was called something different and although we weren't terribly impressed then, we remembered it for its good coffee. Sure enough, that's as far as we got! It was still fairly early in the morning but it can never be too soon for coffee – can it? The advantage of going in early was it wasn't busy which we imagine could be a problem considering it's really quite small. That said, there is plenty of seating outside if you're well wrapped up for a chilly February day! The cafe seemed to have gone through some sort of transformation. The atmosphere was welcoming which we didn't remember from before and the range of cakes was really inviting! Since it looked as though the walk had been postponed, we thought to make an outing of it! Good decision! The cakes were as delicious as they looked and the coffee great. Hopefully, we will be able to return in the autumn and find it open again!

Popped in here during a dog walk when I spotted a sign to the Findhorn Foundation from the beach. The path takes you through housing where all the residents met me with a smile (and a pat for the dog) and one gave me directions to the cafe. It’s in a lovely spot where you can sit outside (some seats are under cover) amongst the pine trees.I tried the soup, which was swede, potato and rosemary and it was delicious. I’m a bit of a soup maker myself and this seriously impressed me. The coffee was excellent too and the staff friendly.I’ll definitely make this a regular cafe stop from now on.

The Phoenix Cafe is uniquely placed to be a perfect stopping off place for visitors and locals to The Park at Findhorn, home to the spiritual community that became established there in the 1960s. The Phoenix Cafe (previously known as the Blue Angel and possibly the Green Room) is built within the Universal Hall complex and it acts as a hub for much more than just casual visitors looking for a coffee. It serves a lot of organic products, including hot and cold food and refreshments. It is licensed and stocks a good range of local craft beers. There is indoor and outdoor seating in a relaxed woodland setting. It often has extended opening hours for evening entertainment or when there are big events at the Hall.

I have visited this cafe a few years ago and was looking forward to lunch. The cafe is now called 'The Phoenix' but I would avoid. Went for lunch about 11.45am and asked for a menu and told they started lunch at 12.00. We ordered drinks while we waited. There was a gluten free bread option so decided to order a toastie. They said they had to check and that they had gf bread but was in the freezer and had to defrost. I said this was ok expecting the bread to be defrosted in the toaster then filling added. 25mins later we asked about our order and said it was nearly ready. The gf toastie was inedible, they had sandwiched the cheese and onion between frozen bread, then put in the toastie machine. This caused the bread to be totally soggy inside. Service wasn't great, a lot of chatting going on between staff. We won't be back!

So disappointed. Have visited a good few times on our trips to Findhorn and usually have great home cooked food at a good price. However we visited twice this week only to find everything sold out one day @12.45 (only toasties left) and a lack of choice the next time plus a broken coffee machine and credit card machine. Way too laid back ...Seriously need to wake up and meet customers needs especially as it was tourist season.

This place had been recommended to us, so, we thought we'd walk over from where we were staying in Findhorn for lunch. I initially ordered a ham and cheese Panini, but, no Ham, so, i tried a cheese and beans jacket potato... no potatoes... so i opted for a cheese and tomato Panini... 2 minutes after ordering a young girl ran out of the restaurant, ripping her apron off as she went... and returned 10 minutes later with a handful of tomatoes... she could have picked up some ham too! Never mind. So, 20 minutes later our food finally arrived; except, it didn't all, the "chef" had dropped half my wives panini on the floor and couldn't produce another one for at least 10 minutes, so, gave us a partial refund instead. The cutlery was dirty and the salad was sandy, gritty and dirty. We ate our panini, cleared the table as requested to find the area for leaving the dirty crockery over flowing and left.On the way out of the Findhorn Foundation we called in at the little pizza and Crepe place and had a lovely Crepe... we should have just eaten there in the first place!

Whilst this café is in a beautiful setting, that's about the only thing going for it. When we ordered we were told there was no ham for the cheese and ham panini, then no potatoes for the jacket potatoes. Given that the only things on the menu are paninis, jackets, soup and quiche this was a bit of a surprise. The guy serving us forgot one tea and made completely the wrong tea for the other, and seemed unable to follow instructions to locate the correct tea from both his colleague and myself. Then when they served our paninis they'd dropped mine. Offered a refund as it would be too much time and effort to cook another. Oh and we'd been waiting 35mins! Go to the pizza and crepe place at the entrance instead, they are absolutely lovely and friendly. I treated myself to make up for the dropped panini!

The cafe is in the Universal Hall which is an incredibly beautiful building and setting. It's often busy inside but there's plenty of outdoor seating and a fearless blackbird might join you at the table hoping for a tasty treat. The smell of pine, gorse and poplar balsam is heavenly.I think lunch is served between 12 and 2. It's worth going early for a decent choice. Try a vegetarian pie with salad or the daily special. The dahl with roasted vegetables is sublime. The bread is always yum. Coffee and hot chocolate are sometimes not hot enough but the almond croissant is divine. Might want to share as generous portion. What really lets this cafe down? Twice staff have added hot water to the soup near the end of lunch service to make it go further. The cafe charges full price and the customer is served watery bland slop. This is such a shame as the unadulterated soup is usually delicious. It's horrible feeling cheated. I hope this gets sorted.

Our B&B host recommended the place so we give it a try. We started with the locally famous cullen skink that was one of the best we had in Scotland. My wife took the Scottish chicken and I went for the deep-fried Scottish prawns. Both were tasty and fine. Portions were generous so we skipped the dessert. Nice settings, friendly staff , reasonable prices.

I bought lunch here today and really wish I hadn’t bothered, the soup was supposed to be cream of mushroom but was anything but creamy. It was this with really large pieces of mushroom which were difficult to eat with a spoon. The cheese scone was a strange colour and had a really weird taste. It used to be a great place to eat but was sold recently and is to be avoided. I will not return!
