We stopped by for coffee and cake at one end of our beach / harbour walk. Great selection of cakes and coffee at reasonable price. We sat outside and inside restaurant was busy with lunchtime folk. The food menu looked wide ranging too but we only had time for quick stop. Given the number of folk this is clearly a popular restaurant for locals and visitors alike. Staff were excellent, friendly and quick to serve. Hope to return to try out the meal menu.

Visited Harbour Lights for breakfast and I had the Scottish all day brunch… a delicious plate of sausages, bacon, tattie scone, haggis, lorne sausage, Stornaway black pudding, beans, tomato and two fried eggs along with a cappuccino and a glass of orange juice. It was superb, cooked perfectly and brought out to my table really quickly. Friendly staff and spotlessly clean restaurant. 10/10 and I hope I’ll make it back to Lossiemouth again

On a wee holiday in Lossiemouth. Came to Harbour Lights and was greeted by a lovely lady who was polite and guided us to a table for breakfast. Premises was busy but clientele rotated with ease. Staff, polite, attentive and informed of menu items. Our daughter who is difficult to accommodate due to autistic tendancies, simply ordered and there were no issues. Due to the latter, we will be returning. Thank you. Apologies for the attached photos but I am a Girlguiding Leader and of course had to document our units Rainbow Ted on holiday. We have eaten at Harbour Lights several times in the past though admittedly not for a couple of years. Our most recent visit was very disappointing. We ordered Cullen Skink soup followed by a toasted sourdough sandwich. The Cullen Skink was just OK and the sandwich was definitely not worth the £12 cost!! It consisted of 2 slices of sourdough bread lightly toasted with a scraping of mayonnaise, Halloumi and sweet red pepper and was extremely dry. It wasn't served with salad or any of the usual accompaniments just a small ramekin dish of vegetable crisps. And just to finish we were given the wrong bill which my husband paid without checking. To be fair when we returned the difference was quickly refunded and the staff apologised. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be rushing back.

Visited twice during a long weekend in Lossiemouth, once for lunch, and once for breakfast. There was no need to queue on either occasion and we were seated quickly. At first glance the decor is uncomfortably mismatched and dated, but a closer look reveals that the whole place is in need of redecoration in the long term and a good clean in the short term. The food, however, is lovely, if a little overpriced, but that's to be expected in this prime location! Would visit again in the future and it would be lovely to see a revamped space.

We just wanted a late breakfast/early lunch and the service could not have been better. I had the kedgeree which was delicious, full of fresh smoked haddock and egg and set me up for the day. Mummy daughter had the home made burger and it was juicy, tasty and accompanied by skin on fries and a delicious coleslaw. The star of the meal was my partners Cullen Skink. It was chunky, full of fresh fish and well seasoned. I would not be exaggerating to say it’s the best I’ve had. We finished by taking some of their beautiful cakes and tray bakes home with us for after and would be worth a visit just for a coffee and something from the cabinet. A well needed catch up with a mate I’ve not seen in about a year! Back up to Lossiemouth again for a course, following a new posting down south, I’d forgotten how charming and original the Harbour Lights restaurant was. The location, overlooking the Moray Firth and Lossiemouth East Beach, is something you just don’t forget! We both ordered the Venison Burger (with a House Coleslaw and Chips included = £16.00), accompanied by two drinks. An enjoyable meal overall - the Venison was cooked well, the portion of Chips was hefty and the House Coleslaw was a nice addition (and very purple in colour)! If you know your fish from your fingers then don’t be disappointed like we were, bought in ready made from wholesale supplier, prawn cocktail ( ready made sandwich filler) crayfish tails ( spooned out of a tub) smoked salmon, chilli prawns ….like the rubber ones you buy in a supermarket , mussels were very dry & no evidence of them having been cooked in white wine & garlic!! Looking for Lunch on a sunny Lossiemouth day, Harbour Lights looked ideal, as we were able to sit outside, this, clearly popular eatery! We received a nice welcome from the first Staff Member we met, and, indeed, all the others, who served us were efficient and charming. My wife chose the Cullen Skink, which she very much enjoyed, whilst I chose the Steak and Cheese Ciabatta Sandwich, with which I was, sadly quite disappointed. Nothing wrong with the Steak, but the Ciabatta was rather doughy, and possibly would have benefitted from being toasted, whilst the Cheese hardly noticeable! The Dish was accompanied by a fairly mean amount of Potato Crisps, one half of a Cherry Tomato and a few Rocket Leaves - underwhelming to say the least! Our drinks consisted of a recommended 175mm Glass of Picpoul and a 500ml Bottle of Windswept Blonde, plus one Double Espresso, all a tad overpriced, in my opinion, but not being familiar with this area of Scotland, these prices may well be par for the course! To summarise, then, the Service was very efficient and our Servers polite and friendly, the Cullen Skink, top notch, the Steak Sandwich disappointing and the drinks expensive!

I debated delaying my review, yet after seeing I was not the first to receive such a similar experience, I decided I would share. Let me first say that I have been in Scotland for 2.5 weeks, a week of which was spent in Glasgow, yet this was the morning of my first day in Lossiemouth. I arrived just after opening and was the first customer, seated at a nice table for a solo traveler, by one of 2 people who had greeted me when I came in. The younger of the 2 by whom I had been greeted is who ended up 'taking care of' my table. I ordered a simple breakfast with coffee, which arrived in a very small cup. Mind you, this cup was £3. As I drank my coffee, I listened, the entire time, to my server talk about plans she was making for what I'm assuming is a wedding or some other event. At no point was I offered more coffee or asked if there was anything else I needed. Eventually, I got up & walked outside where she was still talking and asked for more coffee, as well as a water. Even having had to go find her and ask, I was never approached and asked if there was anything I needed, wanted more coffee, etc...the server must have walked past my table at least 10x, never once even looking at me. I watched her check on other tables, yet I saw the other servers being attentive to their tables. The 2 cups of coffee I had were equivalent to maybe one normal cup & I wanted to have a cappuccino yet did not feel right spending any more money here, so I simply paid my bill and left. I don't know who my server was, as she did not introduce herself, yet I don't think she should be front of house, at least until her 'big party' is sorted out and she's not so distracted. I've dined in multiple locations over the past 2.5 weeks, and it disappoints me to have to write this review as my first and hopefully only poor review.

Such a shame. Whilst the food and atmosphere were both excellent, the Harbour Lights was let down by the service. To clarify, two out of the three ladies who served us were lovely and helpful, however the third greeted us at the door in a curt fashion whilst checking her watch and led us to our table without a word. Having finished the meal we requested a couple more drinks from the same lady who once again checked her watch and left without comment. We subsequently noticed that the establishment was in the process of closing for the afternoon and apologised to another waitress for being a nuisance. She answered by saying that it was absolutely no problem at all, which we felt was the correct way to respond. The rude waitress should not be working at 'front of house' and should not be waiting at tables with such a poor attitude.. A simple 'sorry but we're about to close' would have been a more appropriate and acceptable reply to our request. Checking her watch and leading us silently to our table most certainly was not. It's a pity we were left with a feeling that we were merely being tolerated, especially when the atmosphere, location, food and approach by MOST of the staff was so nice. Sadly the whole experience was a disappointment due to one individuals attitude. We only went for lunch and would have returned for dinner had we been greeted and served in a more pleasant manner. I doubt we'll be back. Visit at around 3pm on Sept 29th 2023

Welcoming staff. Young group well trained and managed. Attentive and very smart in their matching shirts. Spotless tables. We chose an outdoor table. Lots of doggies, but they were well behaved. Music playing but not intrusive, added to the atmosphere. Good menu with something for everyone. Would have liked more fresh fish. Chose grilled haddock and chips. Delicious! Toilet clean. Overall a great spot for good food.

Excellent location by harbor. All of our meals were very good from the Chowder soup, Fish & Chips to a loaded Crawfish Salad, all way very good along with the service.

Really nice breakfast, friendly staff and quick service. Nice outdoor seating. We had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and the Smokey beans and avocado on toast! Was really good!

Visited this place for lunch on Monday 22nd August, its a lovely little place tucked away by the Quay. We were able to sit outside as weather was good which meant you could look over to the Quay. Food I wouldn't say is cheap but what we had was delicious especially the skin on fries with parmasan and truffle oil!

Great spot by the harbour. Didn’t have a full breakfast (as we’d just eaten) but tbh I wish we had..! Looked great. Some really tempting vegan options. Lovely, thoughtful staff too.

Food is first class! We had a late brunch here and it was great to be able to get this after 11am! Service was friendly and efficient. Food was freshly cooked and very good quality, really delicious. A lovely setting sitting outside the harbour area with our dog and very welcoming staff. Highly recommended. If we weren't staying over an hour away, we would definitely have returned for dinner another day for sure. A real gem of a place 😊

We took a group of 10 German visitors plus friends for the £10 lunch deal. We had given our menu choices in advance, but with such a wide range of choices it took a while to work out who had ordered what. However, it got sorted, the sandwiches were excellent and everyone was very satisfied with their choice. The staff was attentive and, since we were given the dining area all to ourselves, the atmosphere was quite intimate.

Our B&B host recommended the place so we give it a try. We started with the locally famous cullen skink that was one of the best we had in Scotland. My wife took the Scottish chicken and I went for the deep-fried Scottish prawns. Both were tasty and fine. Portions were generous so we skipped the dessert. Nice settings, friendly staff , reasonable prices.

I bought lunch here today and really wish I hadn’t bothered, the soup was supposed to be cream of mushroom but was anything but creamy. It was this with really large pieces of mushroom which were difficult to eat with a spoon. The cheese scone was a strange colour and had a really weird taste. It used to be a great place to eat but was sold recently and is to be avoided. I will not return!

Went last night and ordered large haddock supper single scampi two chips cheese curry sauce. Also a pickled onion. Waiting in queue the portions of food looked great getting boxed up for customers. Number 26 was called and we happily headed off to enjoy. Disaster! One not very large Haddock Supper! NO Scampi...another small single fish? NO pickled onion but a gherkin! Where did you guys get it wrong? Did you not understand Scottish? Or is it just another case of ripping off the tourist?
