A true hidden gem. Gorgeous coffee and a well-curated selection of tasty sandwiches. The young woman at the helm on the day I visited was rushed off her feet, but doing an amazing job. Big up to her. I’d like to have seen her sleepy-looking male colleague do more to assist her than nonchalantly rolling a fag in the back room. Maybe he was on his break? I mean him no disrespect, but he was “on display”, chilling out, and she was as busy as hell. It wouldn’t have killed him to help her out. That said, I will definitely return. Looking forward to it already!

They appear to have closed but are giving no information!!! I have a voucher as I have seen other people write here and I can't get any response or money back. It's atrocious. Surely they cannot keep socials open and be listed in Michelin guide when they've gone under by the looks of it. But why so secret with no note that they have closed??

We went on the 24th of Dec for afternoon tea. Its our tradition. We go every year since 2017. But everything changed a lot. The prices jumped up so much. We started with £17 and we are now at £30 for 2 small scones with jam and butter, 4 very small cake dices, a very small savory soup, 1/3 of a sandwich and 1/2 sausage roll and unlimited tea...... Its ridicolous! I know prices increased everywhere but its less food for a lot of money now....we went with 3 people and paid £90. I think it was our last year going there. Furthermore they must have financial issues as the 2nd part of this cafe has been sold and fully closed now. Staff was quiet stressed and rude as well...

Fab little cafe in Newhaven, just off the tram terminus. I visited twice on this trip to Edinburgh but I have also been on previous occasions. On one occasion I had a bacon and haggis roll. And on the second occasion I had a full Scottish breakfast. Both were absolutely delish! The decor is the cafe is very quirky and the staff are all lovely. The only slight downside was that the coffee wasn't that great - but the food made up for it.

Brilliant experience all round. Beautiful 'carriage' and great food. Lightest of sponges and scones. Very pleasant and efficient service too.

The whole experience was luxuriant from start to finish. I took my boyfriend for his christmas as he had always wanted to go. It did not disappoint. We did the tasters menu, and what a delight it was. My favourite courses were baked scallops, which was a pre starter, and the venison steak, which was the main. But honestly, every course was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were lovely and very helpful. I would highly recommend it. Be aware it is pretty pricey but oh so worth it for a special occasion.

This place never ceases to amaze me! Have always gone with friends/adult family members but went with my 3yr old for the first time and I cannot praise the staff enough. They were so accommodating! We had Sunday lunch and the staff and service were fab, food delicious and general atmosphere was just lovely even though it was super busy. The kids food offering was spot on and my 3yr old was thrilled that they had a kids loo seat as well as a grown up one! Thank you rose leaf!
