We recently ordered a wedding cake for 50 people and it was delicious. We got victoria sponge and red velvet with a buttercream icing. They delivered the cake to our venue and decorated it with a lovely stand and some flowers provided by our florist. Great service and would highly recommend.

This was my 5th afternoon tea at Mimis. This time I opted for the Halloween tea and it was dissapointing I'm sorry to say for £60, usually the quality is very high this just wasn't the standard I'm used to and I don't think I'll return. The sweet treats plate were just okay and the savoury plate was yummy. The plate of pumpkin scones were so soo dry they were hard to swallow even though we slathered it in cream and jam. We tried to get the attention of a waitress as we needed water but couldn't so after we finished we paid the bill at the till and left. Must advise the polite staff to check in on customers. Been a customer for years had breakfast many times and ordered cakes.

I entered the restaurant, full of hope to start my journey with a nice breakfast from this place. Unfortunately, it was the worst service I’ve received in years... extremely poor treatment and an experience I hope neither I nor my followers have to go through again. Despite the availability of tables in the restaurant, the waitress insisted that we sit next to the restroom. When we requested to change the location, she replied, "This is what’s available." We sat down, and within three minutes, two people arrived and the same waitress immediately changed their place when they requested. It took 35 minutes just to bring us tea and coffee, when we asked they said they forgot to place the order. when it came were rudely placed on the table, causing some coffee to spill, as shown in the picture. of course she did not even feel to apologize. Just walked away. As for breakfast, it wasn’t served as we requested. My wife had asked for the cream and sugar to be on the side, yet it wasn’t done, and we left before she could finish her meal. The situation only improved when the waitress named (Arien) was replaced by another, who treated us better and, acknowledging the mistake, removed the cost of the tea and coffee from the bill. A very disappointing experience, and I regret giving this restaurant the attention of having my first breakfast there.

Visited on a Sunday with my boyfriend recently and was disappointed with both the slow service (despite being well staffed) and the poor quality of the sweet treats on offer. We chose 2 yummy looking tray bakes to share with a pot of tea. When we eventually received them we were very disappointed with the taste of them. Felt mass produced somehow. Shame as they looked so appealing.

It was a fine high tea for the relatively lower price compared with other high teas in town. For tourists, it gives you the general picture of what a high tea is, but definitely not the full experience. Servers didnt talk much - just to ask you what kind of tea you want and then to drop off your food. No one checked in with us and 1 hour and 15 minutes later, we ultimately waved someone down for our check. The food was not great, and the tea was made from tea bags instead of loose leaf tea. I will place has a cute vibe, and again, for the price, it gets the job done.

Service was painful slow despite having about 5 members of staff on a quiet sunday. Our servers were nice though. Took 30 mins to get 2 coffees and then another 15 mins for our food. when the food arrived it was cold. The toast was just bread and the poached eggs were like rubber balls. bacon had to have the fat removed off. cakes were nice and the coffee was decent but the food was not up to scratch.

I like mimi's, their cakes are amazing, so was disappointed when we headed for brunch. I had the mini scottish breakfast, it was very dry I was expecting toast but had cold bread, the beans and sausage were bland and the egg was overcooked to the point the yolk was chalky. Just an unpleasant experience. My partner had shakshuka it was also bland and watery, it was hard to tell the difference between egg whites and the feta. The chorizo that was added to the shakshuka was nice. I'll be returning for cakes but not for brunch.

Dined here for lunch in Leith. Wasn’t super busy but the service was incredibly slow. Took over 45 minutes for our order to arrive ( soup of the day and bacon egg and chips). The soup was so so hot and bland I hardly touched it. Food was okay but nothing special for the price and wait time. The restaurant itself it’s rather dark and cold and the decor is a little outdated. I noticed other customers who had ordered afternoon tea and the portions looked very small for the price of £25 per head. The staff were all very friendly to us and happy to get us what we needed. Overall rather disappointing and overpriced. Reading the reviews similar points are highlighted. The place has potential but needs to take on the feedback.

Thought it would be nice next to the canal. But rather bland exterior and interior and the canal itself is quite 'dirty'. Nothing that the café has anything to do with, but it played a role for me in the overall experience when you think of going to a café by the water. The food was good but rather bland in taste. Nice that it was proper bread anyway. A "proper" cafe if you have to describe it in Swedish. Maybe my own state of mind affected my visit (hungry+grumpy+tired). So the food is good. But...

We stumbled across Mimi's several years ago during our last visit to Edinburgh and enjoyed it so much we made the (almost) 2 mile walk from Stockbridge to have brunch there again (no pressure, Mimi's!). They didn't disappoint. A big Scottish and wee Scottish breakfast were the order of the day and both hit the spot. A large party arriving just before us meant a bit of delay in getting our food. This was apologised for on more than one occasion and (on realising that it was also our anniversary) prosecco was offered by way of 'compensation'. Much to my chagrin my wife declined this offer in favour of buns and as we left we were presented with a boxed selection. They were delightful by the way as was the congratulatory message written inside the box itself. What a lovely surprise that was. Not that we're in Edinburgh as much as we would like but for Mimi's to get it just right on two occasions years apart means they're either dead lucky or good at what they do. My money's on the latter. Rest assured we'll be back on the next trip to Edinburgh.

All the locals I worked with years ago hyped this place up as THE brunch place and bakehouse, and I've been aching for a chance to try it. After finally getting to go, I have to honestly say we won't be back for brunch. Is it bad or inedible? No. Are the staff friendly? Yes. They don't check on tables very often, though. We did end up waiting 40 minutes in a half-full restaurant for the food, and there were some parts of the dish that seemed prepped ahead (i.e. cold bacon). To sum up: great location, nice staff, not the greatest food. We didn't try the bakes, though. Apologies to the staff for saying the food was great - there wasn't anything major that could be done and nothing was terrible enough to send back. Just not great enough for us to want to be back for brunch.

Poorly breakfast. Me and my family went to mimis bakery for breakfast first of all, I had ordered the mimis breakfast it came out cold i cut into it and the middle was frozen we sent it back and also the egg was a weird texture almost as if it hadn’t been cooked at the top the sausages were not nice also. Overall the breakfast was very poor. One of my family members ordered a ham and cheese croissant and she had asked if it was toasted the staff said yes but it in fact was not the croissant was not bad but would rather it toasted. Another one of my family members ordered the brioche muffin it was meant to come with bacon but they had none and she opted for smoked salmon . The brioche was not even toasted and tasted horrible. However after we got these we ordered some of the tray bakes and they were quite nice. Overall we were disappointed as to the food as the cafe looked lovely.

I was very excited about my first visit to Mimi’s as I’ve followed them on instagram for a long time, and heard many good reviews from friends who have been or bought occasion cakes. I had booked today for afternoon tea for my daughter and I. My overall experience was very mixed! Positives All cakes/scones were delicious We were able to switch out one savoury item we didn’t like (salmon) and were given extra sausage rolls Nice table by the window Lovely traybake I took away for my husband Negatives Server did not check back after food was delivered to table so had to go up to counter to get water and order an additional coffee Extra coffee didn’t appear so had to be chased up. When it did arrive no spoon or milk Slow service in general and not enthusiastic or friendly. ***** The service wasn’t what I would expect from such a well established, popular business. I’m not sure if we just went on an ‘off’ day but there were 4 or 5 staff working and it was not busy so I feel the service should have, and could have, been much better. I feel it’s a real shame as the food was great and the other meals I could see being brought out also looked delicious.

Staff were abrupt and not very friendly which left a bitter taste as soon as we entered. We arrived slightly early and were told we were early and that the table was not ready and were not given any option to sit down anywhere until the table was cleaned. No apology or anything. We went outside and came back in and they asked for the details and brought up the wrong booking as they didn’t bother to check the surname. It was also my friend’s birthday which was mentioned in the booking comments and they did not bring a special birthday muffin for her like they did for another customer…which was both embarrassing for us and appalling that the booking was not checked properly. To add the cherry to the cake (pun intended) they did not provide the full selection of sandwiches in the afternoon tea (however we explained and they brought out another three with an apology, 15 minutes later). We waited a good 20-30 minutes before being asked what drinks we would like with our afternoon tea. The place was not even busy at this point so it was just embarrassing. The staff did not say “thank you for coming” upon leaving and did not ask how everything was at the end. The vibe was way off. I have been in 2017 and it was amazing but this time it was a huge let down. £25 per head for what you get is not worth it and definitely disproportionate between the number of sandwich slices and cake to the point we all felt sick by the third cake. They were nice but in its entireity, definitely not worth the money. I will not be coming back to this one in Leith due to the service and atmosphere. I notice by the responses there is some personal offence taken by some negative comments and excuses made rather than take the comments as constructive criticism to improve the services.

Not been for a while - was very disappointed today. The coffee was good as usual, it the food that disappointed. I had a bacon roll with brown sauce. It was ok - the bacon was a bit overdone. The brown sauce bottle didn’t have a date on it. The bacon roll cost £6.50 - it wasn’t very big. The biggest disappointment was my daughter’s ‘sandwich’. It was advertised as coming with salad and crisps. Well - it wasn’t a sandwich/ it was a roll - a small one, no salad and a few broken crisps. Now I know it’s Easter Sunday, but with a supermarket (open) just 100 meters away there is no excuse that they’d run out of salad. No adjustment was made to the price - £12. I’ve not been here for a while - I shan’t bother again- there are plenty of other coffee shops to choose from. I feel that the place has gone downhill….no interaction with any of the staff - the plates were whisked away without a word.

Visited on a Sunday, not overly busy and plenty of staff. Took us 15 minutes until our order got taken, then waited 25 mins for 1 portion of French toast and 1 bacon roll. The French toast was grand but the bacon roll had 1 rasher of bacon on one side of the ciabatta and then the off cuts of fat from another bit bacon on the other side, for £6.50?!!! Because you can see through into the kitchen I seen out dishes sitting there waiting to be taken for up to 10 minutes whilst they sat under the hot plate. I sent it back right away and they kept it on the bill, and gave me £1 off, so i then had to ask can you please take that off since I didn’t eat it. Always heard good things but would not recommend this place at all, go to cafe Truvo next door instead, cheaper and much better quality and the staff actively work.

Ah, Mimi's bakehouse in Leith, where the chai latte tasted like it took a detour through a flavorless desert before reaching my cup. It left my taste buds so confused; they started questioning their life choices. The birthday cake slice, on the other hand, must have been baked with sugar from Willy Wonka's factory – I could practically feel my teeth wincing with each bite. But fear not, dear pastry pilgrim, for even in the land of taste bud misadventures, Mimi's had its redeeming qualities. The scenic location next to the river was like a visual dessert for my eyes, providing a picturesque distraction from the sugary onslaught happening inside my mouth. It's as if the bakery whispered, "Fear not, adventurer, we may not have conquered the art of balance in flavors, but feast your eyes upon this river view, and all shall be forgiven."

My favourite animals are otters and I was so pleased that they were able to do the fondant design for me with the sea and coral detail. The flavour was their delicious red velvet and the cake was delivered perfectly intact to my designated venue. The only complaint is they could have let me know once the cake was completed and delivered as I had asked for in my initial order but as it was a Saturday I imagine it might have been overlooked. All in all a fanastic service, I will definitely be back to use them again! Thank you so much for making my birthday so special <3

Came here for the first time for brunch - have always heard great things about Mimi’s, and enjoyed their cakes in the past. Nice cafe space inside, and feels like a “proper” cafe. Service was fine, but fairly slow considering it was less than 50% full - took about 15-20 minutes for drinks to come. The staff were primarily quite young, and service was lacking a more personal touch - one girl was wearing a very dirty hoodie and trousers which is rather unprofessional. Food was pretty good - nicely presented and hot. I had the brioche bun stack which was nice but a little underwhelming - had one small hash brown (which looked like it was probably from a bulk freezer pack), bulk bought black pudding, with chilli “jam” on the side (which looked and tasted like generic sweet chilli sauce). The French toast and full breakfast were really tasty and generous portion sizes. Would probably come back, but certainly other places in the area I’d go back to sooner.

We had a sausage roll and the ham, cheese and pesto sandwich with a bowl of soup. Edinburgh is a beautiful city that we will revisit...... We'll return to Mimi's too. Almost forgot.... They do tasty cakes as well.

A great find in Leith, great atmosphere, fab staff and food fantastic. First time having a pumpkin spiced scone, delicious. Many awards won for cakes etc. A must if in the area.

The staff was more interested in chatting than serving it's clients. 4 people behind the counter could not manage to cut and serve a slice of cake under 20 minutes ( it was not busy)... not returning.

I have visited Mimis several times across Edinburgh and the food is without doubt always lovely. However unless you are 1 person, it seems you must absolutely make a booking! When we've gone without and politely asked if there's space for 2+ we are have been met with immediate NOs alongside very dismissive attitudes which could easily be replaced with a friendly, "really sorry but we are full at the moment, but perhaps if you could come back at [whatever time] or would like to take some coffee / cakes away" or even suggest we book on the website in future, I dont know whatever just something that doesn't make me think never to try again! Which to be honest is how I now feel about this particular branch, much rather go to the Turkish place couple doors along who always try their best efforts to arrange a table even for bigger groups and super friendly about it. Maybe something worth mentioning to the waiting staff 🤷♀️

Such a lovely place to have a break from everything. We just have a flat white, cappuccino and scottish Rocky Road, but the feeling of this place is superb. Lovely service, variety of items to choose from and the location. Keep it up. Great place, check yourself.

Booked an Afternoon Tea today with a few exceptions, no salmon and no currant scone. The lovely girl that brought it over swiftly removed it and rectified the options. Also offered us a free cake, (which we decined as had enough but lovely gesture) as they got the order wrong. Can honestly say, it was fantastic. Will definitely come back when next here, Great service, excellent staff... scones and homemade jam...amazing!

Fantastic place, and if you have a kid I’d recommend it. Really accommodating, and plenty of room for both prams and high chairs.

First class food and service, not surprised they have won so many awards. We visited on a Friday lunchtime, looked like a mother and toddler group had turned out so it a bit loud!! Highly recommended. Visited a couple of times since, still good. Table booking via website recommended at busy times, weekends etc.. No designated parking.

So many wonderful things to eat here. Breakfast chips--who knew I needed those in my life! Scones are huge with a delicious cream and jam. Excellent place to meet up with friends and enjoy great food by the Shore.

Excellent location near the Shore. Easy access by bus, 16/35 stops right in front. Breakfast chips are amazing. The breakfast sandwich had a copious amount of ooey gooey cheese. Scones are the size of my hand with smooth cream.

Visited Mimis in Stockbridge. Staff lacked interest and overpriced sandwiches were awful. Had Coronation Chicken sandwich which cost £11. The roll was stale and the chicken tasteless. Asked for no rocket on the side but was given it. Plenty of other quality coffee houses in Stockbridge which offer better quality and service. Won't be back.

Tried to have two lattes for takeaway, it was the only takeaway order at the time, and it took over 15 min to be ready. I had to leave without my order because I was about to miss the bus. Might be a good place for food, but definitely don’t go there for takeaway orders unless you have plenty of time.

The service war really poor. The staff did not care a lot about the customers and was neither efficient nor friendly. The food was ok, but 25pounds (per person!) for the afternoon tea was way too much for what we got!

Looks like my review goes against the majority of reviews but today was an absolute shocker. Foodwise I opted for the full traditiobal breakfast at £14, what was delivered to my table was the majority of food being luke warm and overcooked. Staff wise a bit disappointed that they all looked miserable. Only positive was a 10% discount when they were informed of my disappointment. Next time will visit the Clock on the Shore who appear to do a far superior and less expensive breakfast.

We had the afternoon tea at Mimi's bakehouse. The sweets and sandwiches were delicious. The only downside here is the interior, of cause it depends on personal taste as well, but we had the impression that it is not really taken care of. There are spots on the chairs and sofas and our table was a bit damaged. Maybe we are a bit picky but unfortunatley it was on of the first things we saw. But due to the good reputations we wanted to give it a try...

Have been a few times and sometimes it is wonderful and sometimes service is a little slow. It was quite difficult to hear the waiting staff where we were sat and as a result they got some of our order incorrect. Overall though it is a lovely place for a catch up and reasonably accessible for those with disabilities

Yep, satisfying that sweet tooth once again! This time at Mimi's Bakehouse in Leith. Lovely little cafe, with a braw wee outlook. Staff were really friendly and helpful, especially as we asked about pretty much every cake in the display! 😆 After much deliberation we finally decided on the Chocolate Brownie, a Chocolate & Raspberry Tray Bake and the Red Velvet Stuffed Cookie. All very tasty, with different textures. You could tell they were nice and fresh and hadn't been sitting out for days on end. The clear winner, though, was the Stuffed Cookie! That filling was really moreish! Lots of hot and cold food on the menu worth checking out, and have a look at their specials board, too, for some fresh and fruity soft drinks! 😋

Walked in to try some of their fish and chips. We were seated properly for a table of two in the upstairs section, which is very nice. The fish and chips itself was on the oiler side so if you like earlier food, then this would definitely hit the spot otherwise Would say that it was all right. They did offer some sauces on the side chips however, if you’re not a chip, you could substitute in onion rings for an extra cost. for two people to orders, efficient chips and a drink. It came up to around 40 pounds so pricewise it was decent but still on the more expensive side for what you got.

I went for lunch on Friday with a friend and the food was amazing. The menu was a fixed price of £9 for 2 courses and £12 for 3 courses with a choice of 2 starters, 3 main courses and 2 deserts. The menu was designed by 2 students (Alisha and Robert) and it was excellent, we both could have quite happily had any of the options as they were all good options. As it happened, I had the Thai Coconut and vegetable soup for starter and friend had duck spring rolls. For mains we had homemade steak pie and crispy plaice and avocado salad (the 3rd option was gnocchi) and for desert we had Lemon tart with ice cream and Raspberry charlotte - everything was freshly made....everything even the bread that came with the starters. It was all excellent but I'd especially call out that it was possibly the best avocado salad I've tasted and the home made ice cream was also amazing. Well done to all the students you all worked so hard and served up an excellent lunch you all deserve A* grades. I'd also note that in town you could pay twice as much for the same food so I took the opportunity to tip well and would encourage others to do the same as it goes towards the students end of term night out. P.S. please don't share this review as word might start getting out about how good this place is. P.P.S I wish I'd taken more photo's but just remembered at desert and my photo's aren't at a great angle. You should go though as it was excellent.

My absolutely favorite breakfast spot in Edinburgh! Just writing this review makes me long for their delicious Full Scottish Breakfast (highly recommend!). The friendliness and warmth of the staff makes me feel welcomed and at ease. Even when this charming and cozy restaurant is full and busy, I still feel well tended to and appreciate the calmness and professionalism of the waiters. I also enjoy the Scottish touches -- like receiving a serving of haggis with the a miniature Scottish flag proudly placed in the center of the iconic dish. Will definitely return!

One Canon is a "pizza pub" with a great ambience, drinks, comfortable tables, board games, and a proper pizza setup. This late-night ethical hangout serves delicious pizza at reasonable prices. Hence, do not expect an Italian restaurant, distillery, or rock music cafe. It's independent and picks drinks from local producers with similar values. The Micro Machines exhibit cases on the wall, board games, and great ambience. A rotating special and roughly 10 pizzas make up the menu. I would have devoured the entire menu by now, but the specials keep distracting me. I'll persevere! One Canon's pizzas and booze may also be ordered via Just Eat and delivered to your apartment before that franchise chain's branded bike with a poorly paid driver. The indie also has fantastic drinks for an indie with good taste. I don't drink much, but I want it nice when I do. One Canon has a good selection, not dominated by one source, and prices for most wallets. I want a certainly friendly vibe when I visit a pub. I want comfortable chairs, weathered tables (with service), and enough noise/music to give ambience without making it too loud to talk to friends. One Canon nails these. The personnel are excellent and part of a small but responsive, capable, charismatic team. Someone who knows the business and has spent time at the pub will help you quickly. I've seen the same crew at One Canon, which says much about the facility. Hence, One Canon is ideal for numerous events. I'd bring my work team, and the pizza pub might give discounts. I'd consider that for lunch and post-work beverages, but the kitchen doesn't serve lunch daily. Where to get indie drinks and delicious pizza? Surely it has to be here. One Canon is fantastic for pizza, beverages, and especially for the staff and atmosphere. This pizza pub, a true indie in central Edinburgh, offers a perfect combo of drinks and pizza! Recommended. [Update: October 23 - They take part in Edinburgh's cocktail week and are my favourite venue for it. I mean, an Old Fashioned or Highball with a spicy pizza is divine!] [Update: Dec 23 - Increasingly popular with local tabletop gamers and this is a good thing] [Update: April 24 - still great pizza and now with a bigger food menu] [Update: August 24 - now with added bao buns] [Update: October 24 - Monday's pizza and soft drink offer is great]
