We love Michael from Ireland. Best waiter ever. ‘Just one more question’. He was so accommodating and friendly. Food and drinks were delish too. Would definitely come back.

My husband and I popped in for a quick drink and ended up eating too. Delicious food, great drinks and outstanding service. If you are out and about stop in for a pint and stay for a meal! You won't regret it!!

Really friendly pub. Greeted as you walk in and it feels genuine. Coke wasn’t flat and Belhaven Best was lovely. Table service to take your order and food was served quickly with generous portions. Pop in for lunch or a cheeky afternoon beer or two.

A great bar located right where the Old Town ends—mostly frequented by locals rather than tourists. Their beers are delicious, it’s always lively, and the staff are genuinely friendly. Definitely one of the bars you should visit while in Edinburgh.

Michael gave us all the best advice for the rest of our trip, even personal names and places that he loves for us to visit. The small plates were absolutely delicious, we had the sticky chicken, crispy squid, and haggis fritters and enjoyed them all equally. Beer was great, wine was good, service was super fast. Bonus, they had great music choices!

Stopped, in while exploring the city. We ordered the recomended fish and chips and the beef pie. They were both fantastic and were the best we've had here in Edinburgh. Great atmosphere and great service. 👍

This establishment receives a 5 star and a hearty high five. Michael made our dinner smooth with his personable service, efficient nature and just enough contribution to our local with spot On suggestions. Our meals were tasty, hot when served and all allergens were observed. I would fly back here and this will certainly make it on the go to list. Thanks to the staff we highly recommend this establishment.

Just a short walk from the cemetery where you’ll find Tom Riddell’s grave and Bobby’s resting place, we stumbled upon DOCTORS – and what a great find it was! We were specifically looking for traditional Irish food that’s made for locals, not tourists – and this place delivered exactly that. It’s a proper pub, lively and welcoming, with a genuinely friendly and attentive team behind the bar and in the kitchen. The food was fresh, tasty, and honestly priced. Even dishes like haggis were surprisingly well-prepared and flavorful – a great introduction if you’re curious to try it. Everything felt homemade and authentic, without the touristy frills. If you’re in the area and craving hearty Irish fare in a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere, DOCTORS is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Lovely pub! Came here twice in one weekend because it's just the perfect balance of a nice pub atmosphere, good pub food for very reasonable prices and the staff is a delight. Easy to get a table in the afternoon, better get a reservation for the evening on the weekend.

We visited here last week. Staff were really busy but still very friendly and very attentive. We had a lovely meal and great service. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it and will visit again next time in Edinburgh.

Great place for an afternoon pint

This was a great place to eat lunch! The he food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the staff interacted with our large group of 15 really well.

The burgers are to die for. Amazing. I really enjoyed it. My other half had a pie and he said it was ok. Pet friendly pub with a great service. The music was a bit too loud for my liking. I had to speak really loud to my partner; so did everybody else speak loudly to each other.

Busy place so best book a table especially if there are a few of you. Atmosphere lively and fun with the hilarious staff making you feel welcome and always prepared with a recommended drinks or food options. Food is good pub grub rather than anything facny schmancy.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks while my daughter toured the University. Cozy place to sit, great drink options with friendly service. We got the haggis fritters, which were tasty and the perfect afternoon snack.

Very popular old and historical pub near to Edinburgh park. Recently refurbished to a welcoming standard Friendly staff and good menu and drinks choices available. Sports shown on TV. Can be very busy at weekends. Love the old water tap on the end of the bar.. old and unusual nice to still see it working.

We had fish and chips which was excellent. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Even though it's a small place, there were so many different people of all ages, tourists, which I thought was brilliant.

Had a few drinks and a lovely lunch here last Sunday - wasn't over busy until the football and rugby came on! Will be back soon .

Just had a lunch at this place and the food was as fantastic as ale pie was lovely chunky chips best we've eaten. Atmosphere was really good so many nationalities within the bar, staff really friendly, make you feel welcome wherever your from top place to visit and dog friendly.

Booking on a friday is a must for this popular pub. Lots of youg people. Sports are shown on various screens and music that was not necessary to be turned up as it was noisy enough. Sticky toffe pudding was the best and how it should be served everywhere. Toastie was not worth the price. Thick chunks of bread and hardly any cheeze and where was the becamel sauce. Not a place for a nice cosy meal, but if you want to get in the week-end spirit and are a bit youger than us in our sixties, this is lively enough with excellent service.

We came here for lunch all the way from Glasgow - the service and food are amazing! I'd recommend the steak pie! If we lived in Edinburgh we would definately be back sooner, hopefully be back in the future.

Tried to go in at 11.50am today. Advertised as open at 11. Pouring rain outside and walked over a mile to get there to find out closed and although people inside behind the bar no one answering the phone. Other people also turned up the same time as us to find you closed.

Great reasonably priced bar food, but drinks are pricey. Sport on big screens and tables and chairs outside when the weather is nice.
