Came here for some small bites, pints and to watch the football! Interior is very nice, classic pub feels and the food is great! Best pub nachos yet! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, definitely make sure to check out!

In all respects, this looks like it’s a great drinking spot, but the food really let it down. There was a wait on the kitchen because of the torchlight procession, which is fair enough. The chap behind the bar was very apologetic and explained the situation. He also gave us the nod from our table when we could shoot back up and order. When it came to ordering I was told that they hadn’t had any flat iron steak (or sandwich) available for a while. If that’s the case, I’m not sure why it’s still on the menu, but hey-ho. So we ordered a cheese toastie, and a steak & ale pie instead. The wait wasn’t bad either … but I kind of think it should’ve been longer. The cheese toastie was presented as a whole sandwich of cheese slapped on a plate with some undercooked chips. The steak and ale pie is the worst pie I’ve ever had. The pastry was soggy and anemic like it had been bungled into a microwave, while the meat inside was dry. The chips and peas were both undercooked. I get it, it’s pub food. It’s not anything fancy. But for the price they charge, it should be to a better standard than that of a local social club. Good for drinks, atmosphere, and location but the food I cannot recommend.

Nice atmosphere to sit and grab your drink

Friendly and welcoming service. Ordered the festival burger and it tastes great！The beef patty is juicy and flavourful. Love the salt in the house-seasoned fries, as there are herbs mixed with the salt, making it tastes even better. The onion rings is crispy and good as well. Good food with good price.

Great atmosphere for drinks and food

The atmosphere here is fantastic and I was incredibly impressed with how clean it was. Side walls, base boards, window sills (the little things, right?) were pristine. The food was top notch pub food; great quality and delicious. The biggest reason I’m taking the time to provide my review though was the guy running the place. I watched him today as he welcomed every single person so warmly, provided information, prompt service and clearly took so much pride in his work. As someone who has spent 10 years in restaurants and 13 years as a flight attendant, I was blown away by the level of care and attention - ten thumbs up, sir. You’re a star!

Incredible pub food for people looking to seek refuge from the chilly Edinburgh weather! Just across from Greyfriar’s, so it’s very conveniently located! Darren was marvelous and took great care of us! 10/10

Service was a initially little slow..but not a major complaint. I think tourists (like us) annoy the staff just a bit.. The food was AMAZING. Fish & Chips and nachos with chicken and cheese with chilli seasoning.. Best nachos I have ever had. Awesome Fish & Chips. Waitress did warm up to us by end of dinner. HIGHLY RECOMMEND..!!

Typical Scotish pub with local dishes. Very noisy by drunk Scots, could not finish our food and left earlier than expected.

Stumbled upon this pub by chance and so very glad I did! Right in the heart of Edinburgh old town. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, great prices compared to others, Food was excellent and the service was amazing. The staff are incredibly friendly. I paid just over £15 for a delicious meal and a pint. If I could give 10 stars I most definitely would 👍👍

My friend and I traveled from Spain and we really enjoyed the place. Our tour guide recommended the place to try their typical Fish & Chips dish and it was delicious. We also ordered Mac & Cheese, equally delicious. The waiter was super friendly and also made the effort to speak to us in Spanish. Highly recommended!😊

The bar was so welcoming to our entire group, we had been a run and were dressed in running gear and slightly sweaty, but they gave us all water and allowed us to have a whole area. Staff were super friendly and approachable and helpful the entire time!

Can't fault the food - can recommend the chicken Balmoral and the steak and ale pie. Staff welcoming and friendly. Just recently refurbished and looks the part. Even a place were I can sit and study/work during quiet times.

We visited Doctors en rout to rugby. We ordered food and were informed there would be a half hour wait however the food cane super fast and via a friendly and handsome bar man. The food was yummy no complaints 😋 love Rog ❤️ the barman knows your name

Doctors was a friendly place, my dog brought us there and she is very familiar with local establishments. She walked straight in one day (and was happy with her choice) , when we had a family visiting and were looking for a relaxing, not very loud place. Food was nice, staff was friendly and kind. Darren was cheerful, our waitress friendly. Music was pleasant, but not overwhelming. We could hear each other.l, easily found a big table. We had great tiime. We will visit it more often.

Doctors was one of the first places I stumbled into when I came to Edinburgh and let me say, being greeted by the warmest smiles in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere made me entirely forget the miserable weather outside! Super friendly staff, tasty food, and — special bonus — discounts for students make for an all around excellent pub. I’m going to be a regular here for sure!

I greatly enjoyed my lunch today at Doctors. Darren was a terrific server, very friendly and enegetic and a delight to engage with. Vegan burger was quite nice, not greasy as some can be. Decent beer selection.

The vegan burger is one of the best in town. Darren is a joy, bringing a bright, cheery attitude and service beyond compare.

It's located right in front of the University of Edinburgh, so it's easy to find, you can try a variety of draft beers, and the staff's service is good.

Very nice place. Damn good beer and a tasteful fish n chips. The service was overwhelmingly friendly and on point. There are a lot of pubs in Edinburgh but I will sure choose this one when I come back to town some time
