My wife and I had some business to attend to in Edinburgh and I started looking for a suitable lunch venue. The Haven scored highly in reviews but was a bit out of the way from the city centre, however a good excuse for a tram ride as it is directly opposite the tram terminus at Newhaven. The tram trip proved worth the fares and the time, as on arriving at the Haven the service was friendly and welcoming. They were quite busy but greeted us immediately and found us a nice table. I had the all day breakfast and my wife had scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Both meals were very satisfying and left no room for the tempting home made cakes which were on display. We finished off with soft drinks and used the toilets which were nice and clean with working soap dispensers and hand dryers. Then when I went to pay on the way out I was favourably surprised at such good value for money that the meal had been. Next time in Edinburgh we'll be back!

A cozy welcoming cafe on a blustery day. Had a pot of tea and a warmed scone with jam and butter. Delicious, we will be back again.

Delightful small independent cafe close to Newhaven's tram stop. Mismatched china & curios surround you on the walls & shelves. Very friendly staff. Delicious menu...& we took 3 slices of cake home!!

When I first encountered The Haven, a year or so ago, I felt that their handling of the interplay between take-away and eat-in orders was poor, and that their service was a tad on the surly side. I’ve been an eat-in customer half a dozen times since then, and I’m becoming a fan of the place. One or two new staff members have joined, there are usually broad smiles on their faces, and the grub remains top-notch.

What a smashing place. From the outside it looks like it could be an old hardware shop, but inside we had a warm welcome, some lovely quirky decor and really good food - I had a full breakfast and my daughter had pancakes. All very good, the staff were lovely too. If we didn't live so far away we would be regulars.

I use to love coming here when I lived in the area but recently moved out of town. We recently came back to leith and we were excited to go back to the haven. I arrived at around 1515 when closing time was 1600 to grab a takeaway panini. When we came in, we were glared at by a member of staff who then went on to say they had stopped serving food but could offer cakes. This was massively disappointing as I feel they should make it more clear if they stop serving food so early before closing especially as some people do travel to visit here.

If you want a guaranteed tasty breakfast and warm welcome, The Haven is the place to go. Their all day breakfast has always been brilliant, same with the service. Their menu has it’s unique wee Haven twists on it, always so many tempting options!

Was in the area one Saturday morning for work, and was in need of something to eat and a coffee, and looking on TripAdvisor, The Haven Cafe was close by. Great little Hipster Cafe, which for 11am on a Saturday morning was packed!!!!! Ordered a coffee and morning roll to go, which was freshly prepared in no time and tasted great. Staff are amazing and very chatty. If in the area again some day, I know where I will be heading for again :-)

The Haven Cafe is located on the main road, yet you get the feeling of being tucked away. Lots of natural light and great decorative items round out a nice aesthetic. Plenty of staff on hand which allows for quick service. All were polite and welcoming. Maybe a smile or two wouldn’t go astray. Food was Impeccable! Everything was cooked to perfection.

I love this cafe so much. They do fantastic breakfasts that are really reasonable and their cakes are the best in Edinburgh. The white chocolate and passionate fruit and dark chocolate and wild berries and among my favourites. The staff are so lovely and always greet you with a smile. This is a cafe we visit regularly when we are in Edinburgh as not only is the service very good but the soup, sandwiched as well as the home baking is superb.

This is a tiny cafe and it does not take bookings. They do both sit in and take away food. We took our 3 year old twin grandchildren there for their birthday breakfast. The staff were great and made us feel really welcome. The food is all freshly prepared with the emphasis on breakfast favourites with veggie options. Everything was well cooked and hot. Excellent food, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We will certainly return and it’s a really popular little cafe.

Stopped for a takeaway breakfast ciabatta. I could hardly finish the delicious sausage & egg ciabatta! Lovely homemade cake to.Took a stroll to the harbour to enjoy it. Very organised whist complying with social distancing.

Cuando llegamos a pesar de ser un día horrible, el café estaba lleno de lo que parecía ser regular. El menú está lleno y los precios son extremadamente razonables. Pedí la sopa y el sándwich por un mero cinco. Mi esposo recibió un desayuno vegetariano completo con café para 8. 50 Ambos tenían excelentes tamaños de porción, extremadamente sabrosos y llegaron muy rápidamente. Definitivamente volveremos!

I called in for breakfast on route to the nearby Premier Inn, which is only a five minute walk away. It was well cooked and tasty yet inexpensive, far better than the posher places in Leith!Inside it looks like grandma’s parlour with all the oddities around the walls and selves, which brought back plenty of memories for me. It all added to the homely feel to the place. Plus the staff seemed genuinely pleased to greet customers.I would recommend this cafe rather than the larger establishment next to the Premier Inn every day of the week.

Found this cafe through Google as we were looking for a fry up! Although the decor dated the staff and food is absolutely lovely. A wonderful establishment! If you are in the area this place is a must! oh and the scones are fabulous 😋

Close to where I was staying and I like local cafes so popped in.Great coffee and the scrambled eggs and sausage were lovely.The other dish was scrambled eggs with salmon it looked really fresh. It became busy with local people around 9.15. Worth a try

This small and quirky restaurant is an excellent place to eat the staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is excellent and I believe it is cheaper than some places.

While visiting Leith we saw this cafe , so popped in for a spot of lunch. It was very good and we would not hesitate to visit it again.

We went there with friends for a breakfast. I had a veggie cooked b'fast. It was yummy and a veggie haggis was a nice touch. Would definitely go back.

This cafe, in an unexpected location in the no man's land between Leith and Newhaven, is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Vintagey interior and good, reasonable food. I had the all day breakfast which was hearty and well cooked.

The Haven café is good for breakfast, perfect scrambled eggs with smoked salmon although the bread could be better sliced granary is really not acceptable. Interesting decor especially the collection of mirrors. This is certainly the place to go for breakfast if staying at the close by Premier Inn.

I live close by and regularly have breakfast or lunch here. It is by far the best Cafe in Edinburgh. The food is wonderful and Havenettes are such a helpful and friendly bunch.

early start to yet another long day to get through, found this place by accident. had the Porridge tout chaud and it was MIND BLOWING. a lovely cup of tea to gently let the porridge settle. we will so be back on our next return in late September .

Really lovely café. Great food with pleasant, friendly, efficient staff. I'm one of those people who likes to swap things around - like extra bacon, no haggis - you know the sort, well that was just fine. They accommodated all my pickiness and were lovely to boot. And the food was spot on. Will definitely put this café on my list of places to go.

As an early riser and writer I often try and frequently fail to find a good cafe on my travels to have a decent coffee , breakfast and a place to write without being continually pestered. Decided against the Premier Inn breakfast and gave this place a try. It was a good decision. The place has a really nice feel to it and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had two big, hearty breakfasts with some seriously tasty haggis and black pudding in there. Coffee and tea were also very good. They were doing a roaring trade as people were queuing out of the door at one point. Shame it wasn't open on the Monday as the Premier Inn breakfast we had was a bit pants.

This cafe, tucked away in Newhaven, is like a great big hug for your soul! Iced coffee on a hot day and a warming array of beverages when it’s more chilly are matched with a huge array of homemade cakes and biscuits for a restful morning or afternoon cuppa.

My wife and I were staying nearby and thought we'd try Haven out, based upon the good reviews. We weren't disappointed, the Scottish breakfast was excellent and my wife loved the pancakes. Staff were lovely too!

Zum Frühstück für gute Esser ein absolutes Muss und unübertroffen in ganz Edinburgh. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, der Laden selbst ist wie ein kleiner Flohmarkt, sehr gepflegt und sauber. Die Pancakes sind der Hammer! Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder !

The haven is a quirky cafe serving delicious all day breakfast. My friend and I went this morning and it is cosy, when had great comfy chairs by a fireplace. Good food and the place is filled with old gramophones, typewriters, sewing machines, books and ornaments. It was our first visit and we will definitely be going again.

I ordered a vege breakfast here. Everything was very tasty. Friendly staff. Interior decor reminiscent of grandma's cottage which I really like, comfortable and warm place. I recommend 😉

Wir waren gestern hier frühstsücken.Es ist ein sehr schöner kleiner Laden mit Wohnzimmer ambiente, lädt zum sofortigen wohlfühlen ein. Die Pancakes sind der Hammer,so wie für leute die ein neuen geschmack ausbrobieren wollen ist das Frühstück mit Blackpudding und Haggis auch nur zu empfehlen. Dank der freundlichen besitzerin und dem super netten service haben wir uns richtig wohlgefühlt und kommen wieder. Super cold inside, poor lighting towards the back and food took 40 minutes to arrive. Drinks arrived once we had finished our food.

This is a cafe we visit whenever we are in Edinburgh great space rustic with lots of mirrors and art in the wall’s. Whilst still fab the quality isn’t as good as it was - different rolls and the bacon was a bit salt!

I had ate here last week. The food is home made, delicious and good value for money. There is a mouthwatering selection of home baked cakes and freshly made hot & cold sandwiches which are all very tasty.

We were staying locally in an airbnb for our annual visit to the festival. The Haven was ideally placed next to the bus stop into town so we made it our breakfast base. Full Scottish breakfast was brilliant, the staff delightful and the décor was perfect. Well done to the staff and owners.

We have visited this cafe quite a few times now on our annual visit to Edinburgh and staying at the Premier Inn nearby. Food always good, friendly staff and look forward to visiting again next year.

Very nice and warm atmosphere. Very friendly staff, always smiling. The food was amazing. You have to have the waffle, seriously. I am salivating only by remembering that morning. I certainly recommend a visit.

It was my birthday yesterday and I really wanted to have pancakes. We arrived here just before 12 and they were super busy so we had to wait a few mins for a table to become free. The cafe itself is nicely decorated with pretty plates and mugs and everything is very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, the coffee was the nicest I’ve ever had and the pancakes were everything I’d hoped they’d be. Worth the wait for the table!

Cute local breakfast nook! Good food, very friendly staff. Good coffee. Huge, delicious scones! It's not near city center but was within walking distance of the Air BNB I stayed in. An Uber to City Center was about 6-8 pounds.

Popped in here when walking back from the centre of Leith to my hotel to Western Harbour, on a really cold day! Warmed up nicely with good coffee and a gigantic, warm raspberry scone with jam and butter. I was actually spoiled for choice, as all the cakes looked lovely, and the breakfasts looked fantastic too - if only I'd not already had breakfast! It was really friendly and relaxed inside and I enjoyed sitting in the window, watching the world go by and reading one of the magazines freely available. Will definitely return next time I'm in Leith, maybe for breakfast next time!

Great little cafe, nice atmosphere and the staff are always friendly. Only been in during the week, at the weekend it's pretty busy and full when we walk past. Really nice coffee and the food is freshly made and delicious.

I love the atmosphere, staff is amazing, I usually pop in for coffee and a scone, however I tried few homemade cakes, the brownies are absolutely delicious. Also they have great options for a breakfast,for wegetarian as well, veggie sausages are awesome. Highly recommended :)

I often stop off at The Haven for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. £7.95 for a full breakfast including a hot drink. Fantastic value for money. And other people obviously think so too because the place is always busy.

Every couple of years I visit Edinburgh and I always make sure to come to this place. Food and coffee is great, so is the atmosphere, but the real gem is the pancakes: try the one with the berries and you'll know what I'm talking about! Keep in mind, the cafe closes at 5pm.

I stopped into this cafe for breakfast, and I’m so glad I did. The staff were friendly, the food was great and was a good price. I loved that they had a ban on plastic straws. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet little place for breakfast or lunch.

We love this quirky, cozy, comfortable and homely cafe - it has heaps of character. The food is excellent, especially the breakfast but everything it serves (including the homemade cakes) is tasty and delicious, including the coffee. Service is super friendly and helpful. Seriously, you need to seek out this place and visit, you won't be disappointed and you will leave with a smile on your face, totally satisfied having whiled away some quality time here. We make sure we visit every time we are back in Edinburgh.

Love this cafe in Newhaven - staff are friendly and welcoming, its comfy and unpretentious, the food is delicious and it's really good value for money - I'm literally always questioning them when I'm paying like they've forgotten something off the bill, but they haven't - its just great value. My wife assures me that the cakes are also magnificent :) AMAZING place.

This was our breakfast stop prior to visiting the Royal Yacht Brittania (a 10 minute walk away from the cafe). We love full English breakfasts and wanted to try the Scottish equivalent (add haggis). Haven Cafe did not disappoint! It is a cozy, friendly place with great service (order and pay at counter). It is very small with an eclectic mix of furniture, adding to the charm. The menu of other breakfast items (eggie toast, bagels, even pancakes) looked interesting as did the lunch offerings, but we were there for one thing only and it was wonderful.

Dropped in for some Sunday brunch - such friendly people and the food was great. Beautifully cooked and great value. Recommended.
