We hired Michael and Janey to cater a bridal breakfast and luncheon at the home of the bride. They went OVER AND ABOVE to make sure that it was the PERFECT day. Michael and Janey spent a lot of time creating a menu and then were delighted to tweak it to fit the bride's wishes. They provided all the food, beverages, serving dishes and enthusiasm need for the perfect day. There was PLENTY of delicious offerings and the bride and groom were THRILLED!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them and their business. You will be SO glad you chose them!!!

Charming cafe. Very good breakfast, we had a croissant grilled with York ham and cheese together to a coffee with milk.

Food made to order with fresh ingredients breakfast : muesli , porridge, wraps, pastries. Lunch soups and tasty salad. Friendly atmosphere and funky 80s 90s sound track. It’s my go to for good food away from home. Gluten free and veggie options always available

Popped in here today to pick up some lunch. Ordered a wrap and a baguette and at £8 each I was expecting something amazing. First there’s a HUGE blatant disregard for basic food hygiene and safety. None of the people preparing the sandwiches had gloves on and were picking up the ingredients with their bare fingers. I Witnessed one of the guys lick his fingers then continued to prepare someone’s sandwich!!! We waited 15 minutes for our sandwiches which were apparently toasting. The baguette had 1 slice of ham and the cheese had soaked into the bread which was stale. The wrap, cold, soggy and not toasted at all. £16 for 2 horrific sandwiches, absolute joke. Avoid at all costs!!

This was one of the liveliest places I visited during my trip, great vibes, hospitality and the food was spot on. I created my own wrap, and it got made so well! I'd definitely recommend this place, the prices are affordable too.

Stuff is polite and the food is awesome. Place looks clean and nice overall. We were served vet quickly and the guy at the till advised us awesome meals. 5 stars

Stumbled across this lovely cafe. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Made a delicious vegan salad and fresh homemade soup, will come back again.

We went to Embo this morning and had a great experience. Great coffee but I was especially happy with the muesli - very generous portion for £5.50 - more like a meal than a little pottle you often get. The staff were so friendly, and although I didn’t catch their names, they certainly made our morning better. Would recommend.

Angels ! My 16yr old sprained her ankle this morning across the street and we couldn’t get to her quickly. Uber cancelled and the staff from Embo offered cups of tea and helped move bags waiting till help arrived from family. Eternally grateful Mum. Highly recommend!

It was closing time but the lovely staff still managed to make up a takeaway box of salad for me to eat on my journey home. I ate some of it on the way and still had plenty left to eat 5 hours later, once I got home. It was fabulous to enjoy with some wine. You guys know your salads. 👌Thank you again.

We used Embo’s catering service for the buffet at our daughter’s baptism. Mike went out of his way to be accommodating, and there was a great selection of hot food/ cold buffet. We had so many compliments on how tasty it was. Would use again and highly recommend.

Food safety and hygiene are completely disregarded in the place. I saw a young man making a wrap with his bare hands, he got sauce on his fingers…. Licked it off and then straight away used the same fingers to put chicken on a wrap Is this place for real? We were going to eat lunch here but clearly saw this and just left. Avoid at all costs on less you want salmonella 🤢🤢

Food hygiene and safety an after thought. Saw some brutal stuff here. Firstly the older man who may be the owner washed dishes in the back… didn’t clean his hands after and came out to start making a wrap with his bare hands no gloves. Next the younger guy working there was making a wrap (bare hands again), he got sauce on his fingers licked it off and then picked up chicken to put on a wrap (with his bare hands). I saw 4 different members of staff making wraps with their bare hands and dipping in and out of the bowls of salad. How this place has good reviews is beyond me and how it hasn’t been closed by the Health Authorities I genuinely don’t know. DISGUSTING 🤢

Een leuk gezellig restaurant waar je heerlijk kan ontbijten. Lekkere verse producten. Wij hebben genoten van de porridge en de yoghurt met vers fruit en muesli, de wrap en de Rolls. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en attent. Nog bedankt voor de brownies, wij hebben er van genoten!

Very pleased with our breakfast/brunch here on Saturday morning. The place is a beautiful spot which welcomes the sunshine in June. The service was fantastic and the food amazing. The prices were sound and the interior quite heavenly. So lucky to stumbled into this lovely place. Thank you.

A rare find: a sandwich shop serving delicious sandwiches, salads, and soups, and wonderfully friendly service. Really great independent spot where I had an absolutely fantastic salad. The staff go out of their way to make you happy with lots of specials changing daily.

This place is an utter ray of sunshine to bring some cheer on a rainy Edinburgh lunch time. The Mexican style chicken sandwich is so fresh and full of goodness, very yummy. The side salad that came with it is way above average with diverse leaves, seeds, shredded broccoli, juicy toms and a gorgeous dressing. Plus they were playing reggae. Staff were friendly, happy chatting customers, over all vibrant atmosphere. Think I've found my new favourite lunch place 😁 Update - the owner left a very friendly response to my review which suggested there may be some free cake the next time I visit! This response isn't showing publicly on my review for some reason but wanted to mention it as think it is a good illustration of exactly the kind of place Embo seems to be. Just lovely. Will be back for sure!

Embo catered for our family funeral. They were friendly, efficient and the food was delicious. They were able to cater for our mostly vegan guests with hardly any notice. The menu was inspiring and everybody loved it. Would definitely use again. Would highly recommend.

I ran in to check that I could take my one-year old in her pram in and was met with such friendly and helpful staff. Got the pram up the steps and the staff opened the double doors and told me where to park the pram. The staff member at the counter was so lovely and made me, my friend and (later) my husband the most delicious wraps (Mexican (me); Italian (them)). Great to feel so welcome and relaxed (even with my toddler with me!). Thank you, Embo.

I have booked Embo's outside catering twice and never been disappointed. High quality food served with imagination. Would highly recommend and will definitely use them again.

Absolutely amazing food. We stayed at Archerfield and he catered for us perfectly for New Year’s Eve! We had lovely little canapés and he even delivered it to us ! 100% I would recommend using this deli and we will defo use him again.

Fantastic variety of breakfast and lunch items, one of the few places in the area that does a healthy salad lunch takeaway that's got something special about it.

It has been s long time since I last visited Embo but I returned on another couple of days in November for more of their wraps, either outside on one of the two tables set outside the entrance at the top of the stairs if the weather was good or to order a wrap to takeaway in the last week when Edinburgh became colder this autumn. Nice staff and good service. Great for breakfast, a coffee or brunch. I ordered a Mexican wrap without chilli on my first two visits and tried the Falafel wrap most recently. They take their time to put their wraps together and the quality shows in their ingredients, which can be seen in the chilled counter. Sit in also possible. I'll be back again, as do many others.

Absolutely love this little caffe. The food is beautiful, great quality, very delicious and I love how creative they are with the yummy combinations. Staff is very friendly. Particularly impressed with the man who prepared my food (owner or a manager), he knows his stuff very well and seems to love making food for people. That's always lovely. The interior of the cafe is very nice as well. Definitely reccomend a visit.

Met my friend who moved across from this lovely cafe.... Got a cute table outside and had lovely coffee. We didn't eat but wow the salads loved amazing. Fresh and full colour. Nice owner and def will return for food....

I went to Embo today to grab a quick coffee to go. While waiting for it to be prepared, there was an employee (not the one preparing my coffee) who was mask-less and seemed to have quite a grim-sounding cough. A one-off cough I understand. Sometimes you gotta clear out the morning yuckies. But this cough was deep and persistent, audible even from the busy street of Leith Walk. This employee (still mask-less) was touching their face lots and handling food without washing their hands. Normally, I'm not too fussed about these things, however, times as they are, I was feeling rather anxious as I took my coffee (especially because I will be seeing vulnerable people rather soon). As I walked away I decided the best course of action was to call the establishment. I notified them of how unprofessional this was given the current context, how it is perceived by the public, and that I didn't feel comfortable consuming their product. The employee on the other end, however, seemed rather unconcerned by the points I was raising, listlessly repeating "ok" over and over. After no engagement or apology by the employee, I was forced to ask them how they plan to address the situation going forward. The response was a rather insincere "we'll look into it" and then a swift ending of the conversation. I was quite unimpressed by this severe lack of professionalism. It is a shame because I was quite looking forward to visiting this cute café but, unfortunately, I will not be returning to this establishment for the remainder of the pandemic.

My go-to cafe on Leith Walk for a break from the daily grind. Great coffee roast, wide choice of cafe staples/fresh salads, and friendly service. During lock-down(s) I order and wait outside on the steps which affords plenty of room for social distancing.

Went in to Embo today, for a take away coffee. Always such a pleasure with lovely staff. Pleased to see such extra care with covid measures, but also of course a lovely coffee. Highly recommended and have been a delighted customer for a long while now. Food is awesome and the laughs are even better. Thanks so much Embo!

Wow what a treat - great brunch we had - hot smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and the most delicious mixed salad. Definitely worth negotiating the tram works in Leith Walk to step into this friendly little cafe. Great coffee too - and home made cakes to die for. Altogether very special. Only a shame TripAdviser says they are closed - seems they are open 8.30am to 3pm Monday-Saturday!

Mike was incredibly helpful and always met our demands with good humour and a brilliant attitude of ‘can do’! Mike delivered on time every time and his food was consistently excellent. He will serve your Production or event with care and attention, he made us feel like we were his only costumer! He’ll make your life easier than you thought it could be. The food is delicious, using great ingredients Mike offers a ton of range.

We ordered some lovely catering for a family party. The Moroccan chicken and beef bourguignon were amazing, along with green beans and quinoa tabbouleh. The catering options were great and portions generous. Mike and Katka were so friendly and flexible with our order. Definitely recommended.

Doesn't look like some upmarket quality deli, it isn't the fanciest shopfront. But it is honest and functional and artistic and wholesome, just like the food. Great wee spot.

Came across this place by chance and really glad we did. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. They served us quickly and the food arrived quick too. The menu was really varied with some interesting breakfast options that I haven’t seen before. Highly recommend for Breakfast/Brunch.

Embo was responsible for the Catering for 25 people during 5 days of shoot of my short film in October/November 2019. Everyone that works as a producer knows how important it is to feed the cast and crew properly, after all, hungry people are equal to angry people. The food provided was not only delicious, but also the service was spotless. Mike and the crew were extremely friendly, flexible and helpful, and everyday we heard nothing but compliments from the film crew. Would work with them again without a blink, and also recommend to any production!

Decidí probarlos recientemente, ya que estaba ayudando a organizar una noche de carrera, así que me senté con Mike para resolver los requisitos. Al ser un club pequeño, teníamos un presupuesto bastante ajustado, pero esto se adaptaba perfectamente con una excelente selección de sándwiches, wraps, satays y samosas. Très bons sandwichs Avec du bon pain toaste comme un panini avec des produits frais. Très goûteux. Personnel sympathique. A faire et en plus la rue est intéressante avec de nombreux commerces.
