Was gifted vouchers last Xmas, and to be perfectly honest didn't really think it would be something I would particularly enjoy . But have say I was completely and utterly wrong, the whole experience was fantastic. The food and service were excellent. And I would highly recommend it to all.

What a superb idea to create this experience within a building. We loved this and plan to return with our family. The food was of excellent quality. The setting is amazing and the way the seats move a little, coupled with the window tv screens, certainly give the illusion of moving on the train. The seats are very comfortable and the attention to detail with the walls and ornaments gives a real feeling of luxury in the Pullman Car where our table was located with three other tables. Callum and the other staff members helped complete the luxury feel to the experience.

Lovely Afternoon Tea. Food was delicious and staff were great. We were in Pullman First Class room. Feeling of luxury and enjoyed the views of the scenery. We will be back.

This is one of the best afternoon teas in Edinburgh in my opinion. It is an experience to resemble the Orient Express with delicious sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones. Lovely, efficient staff. Great value for money.

This orient express is a very unique afternoon tea experience not to be missed. We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, food and service from the staff. We highly recommend a visit.

Myself and two friends were celebrating our 60th birthdays. A gift to 2 of us from our friend. Our booking for afternoon tea was for 2pm, and due to not really knowing the area, we arrived 15 mins early. We were told we could have a seat and that they were running late. Couldn't give us a time but said they would try get the table ready as quick as they could. We got taken to the table at 2.20pm. Got given the menu and asked for our sandwich & scone order and hot drink selection. We had also ordered the prosecco drink. This took about 10 mins to arrive. We then had to wait till 3.05 for the food to arrive. There was very little interaction from staff. In fact we had to ask for our scones, then my friend had to go look for someone to ask for a drinks menu. We then sat another 10 mins waiting on someone to come take an order but that didn't happen. So we gave up and left. The food was delicious but the service took a lot to be desired! Even if we had been offered a free drink this would have been nice! Definitely needed more attentive staff

I took my elderly father for the "afternoon tea on the orient express" experience. And whilst the food and whole ambience was lovely , the customer service and 'turnout' of one member of staff left a lot to be desired. We arrived only 5 mins early for our sitti g at 2.30 and were totally ignored by the rather 'untidy' gentleman that was shuffling back and forth along the corridor to set tables. Eventually he acknowledged us and asked for our ticket, asked our name and then sat us at our table. Then two.minites later came back to me and asked me for my ticket in a very loud voice! When i said i had given him it, he stated 'well i do 't have it!' ...again loudly! I was so embarassed I then proceeded to rumage through bags and pockets just to check whilst he and his colleagie made a 'song and dance' about it! Finally i was told 'well you're in the wrong carraige!...follow me!' No.please, no apology! We were 'mortified' . We were shown to our seats in the other carraige and left to look at menu. After all this I can say we enjoyed our afternoon tea, but was distracted by the 'scuffiness'of the grey haired waiter. Too long hair,straggly, no tie,waistcoat too tight and shirt tail hanging out. Also his footwear was not ideal, i sufffer from sore feet, legs etc and can sympathise with other sufferers,but the training shoes that he was wearing just didnt 'cut' it for us! Untidy! On leaving we were still waiting on an apology for their mixup and e.barassing way they 'threw us out of first class' not acceptable!

Perfect Afternoon Tea experience to mark friends special Birthday. Was highly recommended and did not disappoint. Very popular and we booked 4 months in advance. Loved the whole Orient Express theme, and felt like you were travelling in train. We were in Pullman 1st Class carriage and would recommend this. Staff were very attentive and food was lovely. Seats were so comfortable. Catered for Gluten Free / Vegetarian. Very reasonably priced and we were not rushed and able to enjoy drinks afterwards. Would love to come back.

If you love an afternoon tea you can't do better than the Orient Express Experience Queen Charlotte Rooms Edinburgh. Fabulous Experience. As you are enjoying the most delicious fresh food with your choice of beverages and drinks from the bar you travel in luxury from Venice to London. I have visited 5 times and each time I have had first class service.

Was not impressed, like lady earlier, we were seated at the very back. We were given menus then left and I had to get someone’s attention to order. Sandwiches were lovely and the scone, however we were not impressed by the cakes, a small Victoria sponge, a small piece of gingerbread and a tiny small truffle. No one came to ask how everything was and I finally had to wave to someone to get our bill, but he forgot and we waited and waited, then we went up to the bar to get it. He said check it, but I saw why yes they add 10% service on themselves. I prefer to add my own tip !

If you’ve not been to queen Charlotte rooms for afternoon tea on the “orient express “ I highly recommend you do so. It’s lovely. Very spacious wide seats, a lovely selection of sandwiches & fillings, fresh scones with jam & cream. Copious amount of tea.

I treated mum to Afternoon Tea here. It was quite an experience. Wonderful atmosphere, extremely pleasant staff, clean toilets and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this as a wee treat for anyone. A special thanks to the member of staff who dealt with the missing coats issue. I'll definitely be back

This was our second visit to the Queen Charlotte Rooms, choosing to return due to the fantastic experience we'd had the previous year. The venue is cosy and quirky and is most definitely a unique talking point! We received a warm, friendly greeting and were shown to our table in the Pullman 1st Class area (to be honest, we didn't actually notice that much of a difference other than it was smaller, I thought it would have been a little fancier!). The staff couldn't have been any more helpful at that point, giving us lots of time to chat whilst making our selections. Our afternoon tea arrived promptly. The one thing I cannot fault is the quality and quantity of the food, it's fantastic and the Bergamot curd is to die for - it's devine!! We were asked if everything was ok with the food, and even if we tried (which there was no need) we could not have found fault. After we were served and someone came to check everything was ok, we were then basically forgotten about (and we were not the only table who thought that); we barely saw any staff in the carriage thereafter as other tables had been served. We had to wait a fair while to find someone to ask for more tea and then waited an age for it to arrive. This wasn't something that happened the last time and it was frustrating. The other thing that left me feeling irked was the 10% service charge that was added to our bill this time. Again, not something we'd experienced or indeed been made aware of at any point prior to our arrival. I always leave a tip (when I feel it's deserved) and, having worked in the hospitality industry am normally more generous than 10%. However, I feel customers should be given the option! I didn't want to cause a "hoo-ha" as this was a gift for our mums and felt it would've tainted the day. So in summing up, I feel our experience this time was "whelming" (neither under or over) unlike last time when we raved on about it for weeks after, and recommended to friends. It's such a pity as I really loved our previous visit to the Queen Charlotte Rooms and wanted to be able to leave an 'excellent' review this time, sadly I didn't feel this year's experience warranted it.

What a brilliant concept, something a bit different, great home baking and service really excellent. Was a Mother's Day trip but we'll happily revisit. Very clean, hot tea (thank goodness as not always the case) and the curd for the scones was scrumptious 🥰

Fabulous venue for afternoon tea. The decor in the First Class Lounge was beautiful- great attention to detail. The staff were lovely. Good to be able to choose your sandwich fillings and all were freshly made. The savoury selection and cakes were delicious as were the scones. The champagne was excellent too. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

Had such a lovely afternoon with friends travelling first class in the Pullman lounge of the orient express. We had booked afternoon tea and as we were chatting, eating and sipping we departed from Venice , passed through Switzerland and France before reaching London. All from the comfort of our chair in Leith in Edinburgh! What a very cosy, warm experience. The staff were amazing; from when they first introduced us to our seat to paying the bill at the end. I would thoroughly recommend this Afternoon Tea, an experience with a difference!

Afternoon tea was one of the best ever. Everything was delicious, wine very reasonably priced and the train trip through the Alps was a bonus. The homemade bergamot curd with the scones was a first and was exceptionally good. Excellent service.

This afternoon I was treated along with a couple of friends of mine to afternoon tea at the Orient Express Experience situated in The Queen Charlotte Rooms in Leith . I had never been before & it really is a 5 star experience with a difference. The space is decorated to look & feel like you are actually sitting on a real train with TV screens made to look like train windows playing filmed videos of actual train journeys making it feel like you are travelling on a real journey. They even use sounds of trains chugging along to create an amazingly relaxing atmosphere . The food & drink is really delicious & I would absolutely recommend this 2 hr sitting to everyone that enjoys eating out with friends. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Amazing Prosecco afternoon tea today for 7 of us at the Orient Express in the Queen Charlotte Rooms. Sandwiches, pastries, scones and cakes all made to perfection. The staff were attentive and very nice and accommodating throughout our time there. Relaxing and thoroughly recommended.

Amazing place and always delivers, second time been here now and it’s never failed the staff are lovely, the place is magical the food is delicious, family run and really lovely people, vegetarian selection was scrummy, just the perfect day with friends before Christmas, so loved it we have booked again. My two sisters and my Daughter treated me to an Afternoon Tea for a Birthday treat, and what a treat it was. I am now in my seventies, so over the years I have been to many places for an afternoon tea, but this is the best I have ever had!! It’s the first afternoon tea that we finished every plate. The whole feel of the restaurant is very relaxed, you feel very comfortable, the dining chairs are actually big armchairs, so comfy. It was our first visit, but I’m sure it certainly won’t be our last, if you’re thinking of a visit, don’t even hesitate, just book it !!

Lovely hall but overall poor experience. Buffet was not as advertised, expensive birthday cake disappeared and no response to queries from email over four weeks ago. Not trustworthy, go elsewhere for your event.

We had a lovely visit on Saturday afternoon. The venue is very tastefully decorated and you really think you’re travelling first class on a Pullman train through the Austrian countryside. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
