Still a great pub. Brunch is a must full Scottish, or eggs Benedict. Great pub all day round.

Wonderful atmosphere, nice people and good food. The full vegan scotish breakfast is precisely what you would hope for a full breakfast. A hearty big meal that can get you through the day.

Very impressed with this spur of the moment choice that we made for lunch. The building itself is impressive even from the outside, but once inside, you are greeted with a mix of beautiful stained glass windows, lush green foliage and comfy seating, which gives the place both a cosy and a quirky vibe. The staff were warm welcoming and efficient and the food was very tasty! My partner had the full scottish breakfast and I had the philly steak sandwich. Simple yet delicious food, where attention to detail meant that every element was done well. Would definitely recommend this place to others and I look forward to trying something else on the menu the next time we visit!

The food was really underwhelming - cheap chips, undercooked meats and a tiny limp salad - not worth £18. The service was lovely though, couldn’t fault the team just not worth eating there.

What a fantastic find at the bottom of leith, we only went in for 1 drink and ended up having a couple. The staff and atmosphere were great and next time we're down that way we'll try the food as it looked good.

The staff are so friendly, the atmosphere feels like something out of a difference age, and the food is tasty! All that plus free WiFi and proximity to the Britannia, what more could you ask for? Will become a regular here, no question!

Hate to write a poor review, and wary of the other great reviews but afraid that Nobles just missed the mark for us this evening. The service was very friendly, but slow and with multiple missed & incorrect orders. The biggest failing was the food: the shin of beef had quite a bit of gristle and was completely overseasoned. The beef in the Sunday roast was cold and very tough. The starters and other mains (squid and fish and chips) were decent, and the sticky toffee pudding was superb, although,again, the orders were wrong. The biggest failing was us complaining and being thanked for the "constructive feedback" but still being charged the full amount with no discount or compensation offered. The full 10% service charge was added and, being a celebration, wasn't challenged to avoid embarrassment. Lovely looking place with lots of potential but the food and service need to improve. Afraid we won't return.

I had the most amazing potato and leek salad, along with whiskey cured salmon and a sticky toffee pudding. The staff was great, friendly and accommodating. I look forward to enjoying Sunday roast there this weekend.

A shadow of its former self. An absolutely glorious building in an enviable location at the mercy of lacklustre and missing management. A great interior filled with a mismatch of decor and furniture akin to a church jumble sale. Splendid gantry with nearly nothing on it. The top shelf (which should be the premium products) has a handful of bottles and made to look busier with the addition of various glass bottles filled with cordial. Fridge lights turned off to try and hide the fact that they’re empty. A very uninspiring selection of draught products; nothing mainstream and often several are marked as off. The products which are available are near impossible to enjoy given the rigmarole involved to pour them. Cold atmosphere, more often there are more staff than customers. Hyper expensive prices (£3 for a can of coke!) Toilets are designed for very small people. Total identity crisis as to what it actually is: Nobles cafe bar… it’s certainly not a cafe and it’s certainly not a bar. Trying so hard to be something it isn’t and finding itself with a confused identity and offering with a scarce amount of customers at any given point. Compounded by the fact that the owner lives 3 hours away and is very much vacant….

All good here. Good breakfast/brunch. Pricey like everywhere. But what bother me the most is the waiting time even it wasn't busy... 15mn to get the menu, 15mn to be able to place an order... Food came fast though. Nice traditional pub.

Bloody May - huge and tasty! Also had a fried chicken burger in the sunshine which was very tasty and didn't make too much of a mess.

Decor was on point and what was initially what drew us into the restaurant. Staff was very nice and helpful and timely. Fish and chips were excellent.

I popped in at 2230 at night en route to work in well known busy bar. Only living round the corner hoping to catch a tram I soon realised I had to wait another 12 minutes as the neon sign displayed. Feeling tired I took this opportunity to fire over to Nobles for a quick drink. So I popped in and seeing the place was empty other than a strung out waitress, a stressed out authoritarian bartender and most likely a drunken chef finished his shift. So as pleasant and positive as I could muster I tried my best to crack a light hearted joke about how busy the festival was blah blah blah and I just got a smart a s reply. This is cool I get it so dug deeper to appease myself to them but it was made clear that I wasn’t welcome and to fxxk off. I’ve lived here and drunk in Nobles for over 30 years, I met my wife in there so has a special place in my heart. I’m very active within the community and most people and businesses know who I am. I’ve never written a review or complained about any business within this community as I normally work things out directly. I refuse to hide anonymously either when making such comments , if anyone would like to discuss this further either me it shouldn’t be too difficult to find me. Kind regards Graeme Dickson

Came here for breakfast after a stay in Leith. The food was great but the service was just slow. It took 10 minutes just to get a menu. The place was empty so it wasn't due to busyness. We weren't singled out for this - the table next to us was the same, with many looks over as to why the menus just didnt come with being seated.

My wife and I hadn't been in Nobles for years and decided to pop in yesterday for a drink. I ordered 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc and was charged £18.40, yes £18.40 that's £9.20 per glass. The wine was mediocre and the place soulless and it's safe to say we will not return. I understand that businesses have overheads but the pricing policy in this establishment needs to be reviewed.

Firstly, how can you not like a pub with a picture of Bill Murray right as you walk in? Next, the food was pretty good. I got the fish and chips and it was some of the best that I have had. It was a massive piece of fish and wasn't soggy or overcooked. It was perfectly battered and quite delightful. However, the reason for the review is that my travel group (5 people) ranked this as the best sticky toffee pudding. They are the champions out of ten pubs and restaurants across Scotland and London. Our ranking was because we found ourselves trying it in every city we went to and we had built quite the list. Congratulations to the chef for ranking number 1. You have bragging rights amongst our group. Cheers!

Very disappointed in the food and service. Couldn't even get hot milk for the coffee hot. Plates were just dumped on the table and I felt they were incredulous when I complained. Food was fair.

My favorite place in Leith! A bit on the pricey side and the beer selection could be better- but food is amazing and the ambience is top! Great Sunday roast! Will visit again!

Beautiful gastropub serving quality food. The main menu was full of great options, as well as having some specials available that change regularly. Great option of local beers as well. Would definitely stop back in on my next trip to Edinburgh.

Lovely traditional pub/restaurant with amazing decor, original wood, stain glass and ornate ceilings.. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Place was busy but service was quick. Food was excellent, not the cheapest I would say but still good value for money. I'm a Glasgow boy but I'm in Edinburgh. 😂. I would definitely come back here.

Visited Nobles today with a bunch of friends for drinks. The lady who served us was very unwelcome and rude on several occasions without a reason. Was it because we were speaking a different language between us friends? No clue. And none of us was drunk or caused any issue. She was rude to us and made a "shoo" gesture when we were ready to leave and she came up to clean up our table. Unfortunately we live locally and we used to love this pub when visited in the past, but we are not going back and will definitely inform others of the incident so they won't go there either. I really hope it was one off incident and the lady probs had a bad day or something but this just really ruined our Saturday.

Started well, ended strangely. The interior space is attractive. The beer is decent (although our guests' first two choices were off). Cullen skink was very good. Fish and chips pretty good. Table service started enthusiastically. But later petered out to nothing. The empty plates from the mains were left for ages. No attempt to clear the table, offer more drinks/dessert/coffee. In the end we got the bill and left. The place wasn't heaving so one can only imagine that it isn't very well organised, or that it's hard to get experienced staff. We had brought visitors from the continent who were too polite to be bemused. Not bothering to give customers the opportunity to spend more money is a strange way to run a business. The following day we went to Browns in Edinburgh, which is in a similar price bracket but where the service and staff were considerably better.

Just had an amazing lunch at Nobles- fish and chips, steak sandwich, sticky toffee pudding-and it was well worth the visit. Our waitress Harriet was supersonic and full of fun. We'll definitely be back ☺️

Pub / restaurant découvert par hasard à côté de notre hôtel. Une cuisine variée et de qualité dans une ambiance très sympathique et conviviale, parfait en couple comme en famille. Le service est adorable et à l’écoute. Le parfait endroit pour finir sa journée de promenade à Édimbourg.

Friendly staff but the food was quite average

Venison burger was the best burger I’ve ever had.

We arrived for Mother's Day and was given a table at the door on a very cold day. Asked for a warmer seat but was told all tables reserved. But there were empty tables all the time we were. Waited 20mins for drinks order then advised that the wine we ordered was out stock. Duck was over cooked and couldn't cut thru one portion. Was so miserable with the coldness couldn't be bothered to complain. Will not be back. Although I feel the staff who were having a nice chat behind the bar wouldn't care.

Came in for the Sunday roast, for a birthday which we had specified on the booking. Staff came over instantly asking for a drinks order but we were not quite ready and asked for a few minutes. It was over 20 minutes before they came back to take this order, despite the restaurant only having a handful of tables in. Once we eventually got a drinks order in we had a further wait as the staff chatted behind the bar. Food came relatively quickly when we eventually got the food order in and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Those on the roast got one small gravy boat to share, and again we could not flag down the waitress to ask for more. After the meal was cleared we were discussing if we would have some more drinks, but we were never asked and after sitting with nothing for almost 20 minutes, we decided to move on next door to finish our evening with some drinks in Malones. Food was really good, but not sure I would come back due to the service. We felt like we were inconveniencing the waitress serving the tables and I would not like to see the wait if they had more than 5 tables in at once.. We had specified that this was a special event but no care was taken for our table to make the celebration memorable.

Nobles is following the trend of serving bad food at high prices. £19 for a burger is ridiculous The menu is limited and expensive and nothing on it that inspires.

A late afternoon family brunch / early dinner in Nobles. Steak sandwiches all round and they were delicious. Would highly recommend this place for a casual drink and meal. Service was very good and the drinks were excellent. 👍

It was a really beautiful experience and service. I enjoyed the meal even as a non Scottish. Will want to visit again.

The food was amazing. I had the salmon with the chorizo risotto. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Would 100% recommend!

lunch today, food very good, service same. place freezing, went in around 12, sat near fire, heat non existent, put it off venue, don't think we'd return due ti lack of heat.

The food was delicious, we had a sunday roast and the pumpkin risotto, both really great. For dessert, we can definitely recommend the sticky toffee pudding! Staff are very kind and quick to help. Pub has a cozy atmosphere, only the bathrooms are a bit cold. All in all, a really nice place - would come back again!

We went to Nobles for a family, pre-theatre lunch. It was our first time, and we will definitely be back. The interior had lovely wood panelling and artwork/photos, and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious, cooked by the lovely Sultana. The location was handy for us as we were staying at Malmaison at The Shore, and then it was a short taxi ride into the city centre for a show :):)

We used to love going to Nobles for fish and chips. We went back recently and discovered that they no longer do their fresh cut Rosemary chips with the fish. The do them with ‘ Chunky Chips’, which are frozen. They do sell Rosemary Chips, but they are skinny fries with Rosemary salt, not the actual herb. Very disappointed. They charge £19 for this plate of food, and for that price, it should come with proper chips. We didn’t rate the service the guy gave us either. Quite abrupt, and not very friendly. It’s a shame, as it’s still a gorgeous pub to visit. I’m guessing that Covid and the tram situation has caused them to cut back a bit, and it was very quiet inside.

The servers are lovely and the atmosphere is really nice. The happy hour cocktail I got was incredible too and such a good price. We just felt disappointed by the lack of vegan options on the food menu. I’ve been to brunch a couple times and the vegan options are great at nobles, but not so much for dinners. The only meal you could get vegan was a warm salad. Would have been nice to be able to order a burger or something. We just ended up getting the rosemary fries which were nothing to write home about either - just your most basic semi-undercooked fries. Want to emphasize the lovely servers and great service, but suggest a little update to the menu :)

Warm, friendly atmosphere. Good selection of cocktails. We were there early evening and enjoyed the table service for our drinks order. Also enjoyed being able to hold a conversation without having to raise our voices.

Delicious small plates in a stylish bar/restaurant

Nobles is one of the best bars in Leith - great atmosphere, fast friendly service and super food and drink. This is quality so there is a price to pay - but worth the bit extra - tonight it was a table for one - excellent fish and chips and good beer - as always a quality choice - oh and now a tram stop just outside the door !

It's always great here. Top pub, lovely to site outside and watch the world go by.

Delightful staff, great food and atmosphere.

We first tried to go to Nobles, a beautiful old restaurant in Leith, on Saturday, July 15 but we foolishly did not have a reservation. The restaurant was packed! We came the next night and it was much quieter. I was with my husband, our son and two daughters. We ordered drinks and three of us ordered the Steak Frites. One daughter had the Cod and the other daughter had the Chicken Bun. We had seen "Sunday Roast" on the sign outside and my son was hoping to order a Sunday Roast dinner. But I think that Sunday Roast is the name of the menu and is not actually "on" the menu! At the end of the meal, our server had disappeared for quite a while. I went up to the bar and was able to pay for the meal there.

Best brunch I've had in the city. This place is class. Good prices. 10/10

Gemütlicher Pub im Ortsteil Leith/ Edinburgh. Urig eingerichtet mit Möbeln aus dunklem Holz, schönem Tresen mit guter Auswahl an Drinks, vor allem Whisky und Gin. Die Bedienung war supernett, dass Essen sehr lecker. Dem Koch konnten wir bei der Arbeit zuschauen.

I have been a few times now for food, but never again will I eat there. In future it will only be for coffee because I love the decor and it seems the only thing they can do right. I tried a cauliflower steak a week or so ago. It was basically a slice of raw cauliflower with vegan cheese melted on top. I was there again this morning and tried their vegan breakfast. It was a grey potato rosti and a few slices of dried up mushrooms, a tough vegan sausage and dry haggis, a grilled tomato and tasteless homemade baked beans. I picked at it and left hungry. All for the princely amount of £15. Never again!

Only went for a few drinks so can't comment about food. Drinks were nice, the atmosphere was nice and the person in charge remained calm and nice at all times even though he had to remind a few of us to stop taking drinks out with us - shows professionalism.

Very easy to get to because its right on the tram line. We just had a pint at this beautiful old pub after touring the royal yacht Brittania. Tram stop is The Shores.

Hopped off the tram on the way home from town for a cocktail. Great service always in this beautiful traditional bar. Well curated selection of craft beers, wines and a pleasing range of cocktails. Drinks were well made - would recommend

Gezellig druk restaurant in de wijk Leith. Zeer attente en vriendelijke bediening. Prima keuken, heerlijk gegeten. Tip: vooraf reserveren om zeker te zijn van een plekje. Aanrader!

Came here for a lovely Saturday brunch with friends. I ordered the Scottish breakfast. Nice presentation but just a couple of odd things. No butter for the toast and the beans... they were curried. Was not expecting it, and no where on the menu did it state they were spicy beans but proceeded to tip them on my breakfast before discovering this. Lesson learnt!

Loved this restaurant. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent and we were so comfortable at our table we stayed for cocktails. I think we were the last to leave! Thanks to all the staff for a lovely evening.

Tasty options for vegetarians. Interesting old bar with nice decor. Friendly staff. Glad we took ourselves out of the city centre to go there. Nice walks along water front ten minutes away.

Nobles has a charming atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The meals are comforting and delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. While the interior of the pub may be getting a bit outdated, this in no way detracted from my experience. However, it would be great to see a refurbishment in the very near future to elevate the space and make it even more enjoyable for future customers.

Came in for breakfast, had Eggs Florentine and Smoked Borlotti beans and both were fantastic.

A great find in Leith. A venue that has certainly come a long way from its dark past. Warm welcoming and a reasonable selection of beers . Could do with Guinness (hint hint) fair to say we will be back on more than one occasion.

Try their Chicken Chorizo melt panini, amazing.
