An amazing experience. Would like to teleport this pub tommy hometown. We entered on a whim and in the beginning i was turned off by the enterior but I'm very happy that I stayed! The food was 10/10, the drink selection wide and the waitress was nice and professional.

Staff: Maybe next time, don’t be purposely rude when there is no requirement to be.

Really good fries, and the best cocktails we've had in a while. The staff is great too, and as if this wasn't good enough yet, they have the cutest, friendliest dog here!

The food is, uninspiring, the fish tasteless, it is mysteriously expensive, and the staff love themselves just a wee bit too much. I heard so much about this place before I went, but it is seriously overrated.

Don't be fooled by the outside! This place is very unassuming. Almost entirely gluten free and DELICIOUS. Great prices, great food, and the staff is so so kind. A must-stop, especially if you have gluten-free eaters in your party.

Cool spot. Nice food and some really interesting cocktail options. We tried a few different cocktails here and they were all excellent.

Just a beautiful experience...something new and different

The fish tacos were so good! I'm from San Diego - haven't found anything even remotely close until we ate here. Only suggestion would be to have Sriracha or Cholula available (maybe they do, I didn't ask) Decent guest beer list too!

I was at a gig in the basement. The place has a nice non “Wetherspoon” air about it. The staff were friendly the range of drinks interesting. Lots of people were tucking into the food which seemed very popular.

Great food, very kind and helpful service, accommodated various allergies by checking with the kitchen to be absolutely sure it was alright to eat. Many varied beers on tap in the bar and, including gluten free ones.

Best cuisine I've tasted, amazing flavors, and crispy fries for a change. The service is in a class of its own. Strongly recommended

Went for drinks. Place is a little run down and the lighting doesnt help. Fun idea and friendly bar staff. Good for a drink or two.

Fuimos a probar el fish and chips pero acabamos probando más platos de la carta ya que tenían muy buena pinta. El local no es muy grande pero tiene un salón al fondo ideal para almorzar o cenar. Pedimos un par de tacos, muy buenos y con sabor, los recomiendo, sobre todo el taco de pollo barbacoa koreano. Del fish and chips…esperaba más, las patatas eran horneadas, no eran fritas, lo que hace que no sea un típico fish and chips, aunque de sabor estaba bueno. El servicio muy bien, amables y simpáticos, el precio en la media de Edimburgo.

Ordered food to be delivered at Bellfield on pub quiz day, as it's always been possible, and as Safari's website allows you to do - no indication this was no longer an option. After being charged, waiting for over an hour, and half an hour past the estimated delivery time, phoned them to be told they no longer deliver to Bellfield but the order went through, so if we wanted the food, we'd have to go collect it - which meant leaving the pub quiz to get the food. Option to cancel order and get a refund was never offered. Girl serving was very apologetic and bonus tequila was offered, but.... =/

Livingstone himself would cherish this place. It puts joy in one's heart and a smile on one's face.

I’ve been here few times and the food was always amazing! You need to try their Korean fried chicken, it’s the best! They also have a very nice kids menu. The staff are great, very friendly, fast service, and treat the kids so well. But also if you go later you can enjoy more a pub atmosphere with excellent music and a generous menu of pints and drinks. The blood Mary is a must try!

There for a birthday party. Place is small they didn't have enough chairs for the party goers. But was alright.

Great pub, good pints, solid atmosphere. Pubs like this are the bedrock of a social Edinburgh. I've heard noise the food is decent as well but this visit was only pints.

I was served a drink but every table was reserved for the quiz and when I found an empty table without a reserved sticker I was told it was reserved. Got told could sit at the bar where everyone coming in would be on top of me. If they don't want passing custom then they should say. I have been there plenty of times but won't be coming back.

Loved this restaurant! Such a fun vibe and food was amazingggg! Service was fantastic, made even better when I asked if I could have a whiskey sour but the waiter said he had no eggs then came back a minute later with an egg in hand and a slight nod! Highly recommend and great for coeliacs!

One of my fav places. Food never disappoints, wee bit different and very yummy. Tacos are always on point with options, it’s always so hard to choose between ☺️ Had the chorizo beef chilli nachos tonight and they were delicious.

Best gluten free fish I've had. Drinks were nice and strong and vibe was great. Small kitchen so don't go when in a rush for food. Can take a long while.

The staff were really helpful in accommodating us with our baby (before 8pm only, I think....?). We had super tasty food - so much better than your average pub fare. Will definitely be back.

This was an appalling experience. We had high hopes for this place as it had featured on square meal as a good GF restaurant. Our table was in the lounge part in the back. It was quirky and quiet but that meant we didn't see the waitress much. My main meal, fish tacos, smelled odd in a very bad way. And tasted even worse. And I was extremely ill afterwards. The side dish was aubergine tempura which was basically tiny bits of aubergine coated in some sort of batter and deep fried. My daughter's mushroom tacos wasn't much better. The wedges were the only thing that were nice. No one check on us to see if everything was okay with our meal or else I would have said something. As I was with my teenage daughter she was too much in a panic at me complaining. When I paid I did mention it to the waitress about how it tasted so very oddly but she brushed it off as a change of menu and was more concerned that I wasn't leaving a service tip. I did have all the symptoms of food poisoning later that night. A report to Edinburgh's food hygiene department will be going in as soon as I have recovered from this nasty visit there.

Amazing in every respect. The menu is refreshingly imaginative and everything I have had in the past year has been excellent. Lovely people and atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Used to be ok but now extremely expensive. £5.20 for a pint of cask ale, even in Edinburgh is too much to swallow. Will give this place a miss in future

Lovely place with friendly staff. The food we had was really nice and plenty of it. It's also seems to be one of the few places in Edinburgh that have a licence so you can your kids in and they don't mind.

First time here for a European dance evening in the basement. This isn't run by the pub but downstairs function room availability use. Could benefit from ventilation with 20-25 people dancing (attempts to open a window weren't approved of!). Will be back 😊

called to make a booking. was told on the phone it was not necessary. When arrived there was no table and we had to use a windowsill as a table. Unfriendly staff and ruined evening.

I would like to start by saying that I've worked in the food/service industry for ten years and I like to eat out a lot. And this place is genuinely one of the all around great places to eat or drink in Edinburgh. The food and menu is quite different from anywhere else with just great flavour combinations. The food was cooked perfect. Simple additions like pickled veg on the side salad, really nice. I appreciate any drinks menu that serves a bloody mary and a Mezcal margarita, because you're covered whether you walk in at lunch or dinner. Strikes me as a place with a strong team and that you're well taken care of. I don't write reviews, this is my first. I just felt they deserved the praise and more people should be talking about safari lounge.

You can taste the love coming from the kitchen. Really creative, fresh, tastefull soulfood! Some good soul trax can also appear to your ear👌👌 All the people where soo friendly! I wish you the best!

Came for a gig but stayed for food and drinks! The venue located downstairs is a bit cramped but quite intimate and well sound proofed for the restaurant/pub upstairs. Food was fantastic and drink selection wasn't shabby. The staff were friendly enough and the place has a very chilled, almost sleepy atmosphere but in a good way. Very relaxing experience at least on the night i was there and saw people with pets as well!

The food at Safari Lounge is outrageously good. Unique and frequently rotating menu of tacos plus small and big plates all of which is absolutely delicious. Great beer selection too, super friendly and welcoming staff. Easily the best pub in the neighborhood and definitely one of the best in Edinburgh

Nice and open with an area in the rear usually used for food, which consists of small plates, burgers and tacos (didn't eat on this occasion) but food looked good from the open kitchen
