Excellent lunch fare with friendly service. Tasty cocktails and a nice variety of ales were available. Great spot to take a break after touring the castle.

We had our wedding here, the service, food, vibes were incredible from start to finish! Can’t wait to come back here soon!

Wee had a lovely table outside on the sunny terrace and were looked after very well by all the staff who waited on us, despite the restaurant being extremely busy and with a queue for folks who had just turned up I. Hope of an outside table. The food was lovely, all very tasty. I would recommend Scotts to anyone wanting to have a relaxed time with good food and lovely staff.

Pasé por el desayuno y fue excelente! Servicio, ubicación y asientos. Tenían un mini huevo caliente de chocolate en especial y era muy bueno. La terraza es un hermoso lugar para desayunar bajo el sol de la mañana sobre el ajetreo de la calle Victoria. Fue tan genial en Scott’s Kitchen que volvimos otro día para desayunar de nuevo : )

the food was fine but a little disappointing, my burger was a little tasteless but it was not bad, the deserts were amazing we loved the toffee pudding, the carrot cake and the traditional scottish desert which i cannot remember the name, the staff was very nice and the views to victoria street were also very amusing

Lovely restaurant with exceptional service. Really happy we chose this as on of our restaurants while in Edinburgh.

Friendly service. I had a burger menu. Fries half warm and old. Patti not salted and quite fatty. No sauce in the burger. Too bad.

Really great dishes. Braised venison casserole (stew topped with mash potatoes) was unbelievably delicious. The baked macaroni was delicious too! Really nice place. Great service. Didn't feel touristy at all. Highly recommend.

Quick service; accommodating staff (we asked to be moved inside after it began to sprinkle on the patio)

Food was really nice and the location and atmosphere great. Took a while for things to arrive, waited a while for coffee - then it took ages for food and we had already drunk all the coffee. But no-one noticed to ask if we wanted another one in the meantime.

This was our first haggis and it was extremely delicious. Overall great place.

Not many gluten free options available even though it was advertised. Eggs Benedict tasted rather vinegary.

Super rude waiters, both the female and the male staff members. In particular, the guy waiter appeared quite arrogant. The burger was completely overcooked and the fries were not homemade. Overall, the food and service experience was way below average from what we experienced so far in Scotland. The view is okay-ish. Would not visit again. Think it’s quite expensive for what you get in terms of quality and service.

The Scottish breakfast special plate and burger are very good. Really good quality-price for the area in which it is located, the very pleasant atmosphere with indie folk music and the impeccable staff. We would definitely return!

We just had a coffee and an excellent cappuccino and were received by a very smiling and pleasant owner. The location is simply incredible, just above Victoria Street and its colorful houses.

Overall it was ok but the plates and glasses looked dirty. The waitress looked very unhappy and it was uncomfortable. We had egg benedict, and if you ask for avocado on top, its extra £3. I prefer not to go there again.

Nice place to lunch in Edinburgh Downtown. Near tourist places. Tasty meal with quality food. Only downside, a little waiting and my benedict eggs a little too cooked. But otherwise I recommend.

I love this place! Colleen was amazing! I’m pretty sure it’s family run? My tour guide who’s born and bred in Edinburgh recommended for me to come here if I want to try a Scottish breakfast. I decided to do the vegetarian one which was delicious. I do wish the tomatoes were smaller because your just eating Halves of a raw tomato but everything else was delicious. I probably wouldn’t order the carrot cake again I didn’t like that there were so many nuts, I’m used to the American version of it 😅

Our 9 am visit started with an apology that the coffee machine was turned on late and no lattes or expresso would be available for 20-30 min, so we ordered the "fresh orange juice" which turned out to be Tropicana boxed OJ and the waiter showed us the box. To be fair they took the OJ off the bill. Strike 2. ordered breakfast and it was decently presented, one of us ordered the salmon with bacon and poached eggs and add smashed avocado on the side, the avocado came on the toast under the eggs and bacon. Regular eggs Benedict was good but the salmon was tasteless and not eaten. Maybe just a bad experience today but there are better places to have breakfast in Edinburgh! 3 stars is all I can give.

We're able to accept us as a walk in. Has a lovely homely vibe, the string fries has an amazing aioli. Our server Jamie was great as well, very positive and welcoming. Been here before in August, would always come back when we visit Edinburgh

Absolutely fantastic experience! Everything was magnificent from start to finish. The food was delicious, also offered at great prices. The service was outstanding, friendly, efficient, and welcoming.

Adequate seating, service was great. Food was tasty, we did not have anything exotic beside the Gingerbread Latte which was nice but a little cooler than desired. I enjoy my coffee hot. Would recommend for a nice breakie. Situated in the heart of Old Town. Loads of quaint shops.

Visited on 12/1/25 there are few steps to climb to get to the venue from the main street. The venue is small yet spacious & good atmosphere. Full breakfast & breakfast bap were freshly cooked & tasty. Staff were cheerful, courteous & engaging. well worth a visit when you're in the Edinburgh.

We were 2 minutes late compared to the additional time offered, just enough time to climb the stairs to get there, and to refuse us the reservation is not very fair play.

Great quality produce used, portion size was just right. Great experience the team were very welcoming and service was brilliant.

Excellent cuisine with quality products. Particular care is taken in presentation and service. In a cozy atmosphere, in the heart of the old town, you can go there to have the unmissable Scottish Breakfast or stop for lunch to try the haggis. Well-mastered flavors, a plate that tempts you, that’s the appeal of this restaurant. An essential break to eat real local cuisine!

Very expensive for the quality and quantity of food. The decor and staff were both nice, but you certainly get the impression that this is a high volume quick turn around business. That said it was fine if that is what you expect.

A great scam. The prices are excessively high for dishes that have nothing to do with it. It's not cooking. Even the sandwiches are disappointing and contain little. Any item you want to add is charged: 3 pounds per slice of bacon. The room was not heated, it was -6 outside... We clearly pay for the location. A tourist trap to avoid.

Service is pathetic and they provided an estimate of 5 min turned out to be more than half an hour?

Food and coffee was really good. Staff are not so friendly, not a single smile to anybody the whole time we were there, as if they are required to not smile. We had to wait about 15- minutes because we are a big group, the front staff is not so accommodating and almost offered to just try a different restaurant. We will still go back though. Still deserve a 5-star rating.

Food overall 7/10 I have Scotts handmade Burger 7.5/10 nice texture and taste, Pigs in blanket with stuffing 8.5/10 yummy w/wo jam, traditional Award winning haggis neeps tatties 6/10 first time trying its not bad. Service 7.5/10 + 0.5 for merry Christmas =8/10 Cleanness 9/10 vibe festive inside and outside 9/10 the view is nice when look down the street if can. Portion with price 6/10 it is lowk a lil pricey an additional cheese is 2.1£ for a burger as an example. Service charge of 10% is optional. The toilet is also nice.

Great Breakfast, the full Scottish breakfast is insanely good its a strong recommendation. The service is super nice and forthcoming. Will come back if we are back in town.

Lovely restaurant for breakfast/brunch. Homely cosy atmosphere, the food was fab and great variety on the menu, would highly recommend but book in advance.

Advantages: good location and tasty Scottish food Disadvantages: glasses for water were dirty with lip marks, 10% service charge is a bit much considering there was only 2 of us and we were just having a quick snack. They said they can remove it but then it feels like they are guilt tripping you by putting it there in the first place. If the service was exceptional we would tip an appropriate amount.

Ask to wait outside with 2 minutes to open. Put at the smallest most uncomfortable table in the corner, even though we were the first people there. Food is average. Staff put a 10% charge on my bill without asking for a tip

Delicious haggis, reasonable prices

Me and my boyfriend have visited this place first thing after coming to Edinburgh and we loved it so much! We had Scottish breakfast and Scottish veggie breakfast. It was very filling, a lot of flavors that go very nicely together and it also looked very appetizing. The toasted bread with butter was perfect too, the beans were the best ones we’ve ever eaten. :) The waitresses are very nice, friendly and accommodating too. We were waited by Rhianna and Brooke, both very nice and helpful. They’re adding to a nice place this restaurant and café already is. Would recommend 1000%.

The berry bubbles cocktail was great. The sourdough with tapenade and hummus was just alright, the hummus tasted like straight chickpea with nothing in it but the tapenade and bread were great. My wife and I both got the burger add cheese (£2 extra for cheese) The burger came out and it seemed like there was no cheese but really the cheese was burned onto the top of the burger. Bit into the burger and it was tough and well done. My wife bit hers and burned her mouth, as the burger was unnaturally hot as if it was microwaved, which would explain the scorched cheese. The fries that came with the burger were all saturated in grease and most of my fry cup was bits and crunchy parts, no actual full size fries. Alltogether, a disappointing experience with great service.

After a rude treatment at the elephant cafe, we came here and were glad we did. Really nice breakfast, nice coffee, good service.

Order the Big Breakfast and enjoy all the famous Scottish cuisine in one go. Even dishes that I was worried would be too strong, such as haggis and black pudding, turned out to be very delicious.

🚨East Asians and Overweight White Individuals May Not Be Seated at Window Tables🚨 I visited the restaurant around 10 a.m. There was only one other party present, so the place was quite empty. The receptionist guided us to a table at the back of the restaurant. At the time, I thought nothing of it. However, I was taken aback when I saw white customers who arrived after us being seated at the window tables. I recalled an article mentioning that Asians are often not seated by the windows in European cafes and restaurants. This made me wonder if we were discriminated against because we are Asian. Recognizing that this could be my own paranoia, I calmly observed the restaurant’s seating patterns. The common characteristic among those seated at the window tables was that they were all white. I began to suspect that perhaps Asians are not allowed to sit by the windows. Then, I noticed that some white customers were also being seated at the back. They were overweight. It dawned on me that the restaurant wasn’t discriminating solely based on race but was instead not seating customers who didn’t align with the restaurant’s desired image at the window tables. Upon closer observation, I identified the features of those seated by the windows: they were clean, dressed in calm-colored and appropriately sized clothing, not overweight, and white. Even white individuals who were overweight or dressed in eccentric fashion were guided to the back. While our attire and physique were no different from those seated at the windows, we were not white. I felt ashamed for entering this restaurant. Despite being uninvited or undesired patrons, we had imposed upon the staff to serve us. I recalled the slight hesitation on the receptionist face when we first arrived. In my country, there are restaurants that select their clientele, but it’s made clear through their appearance and atmosphere. I failed to realize that such practices could exist in a place with such a casual ambiance. Unfamiliar with the UK’s social structure and culture, I admit I don’t know how to choose dining venues here. I plan to stay in Edinburgh for a while, but I will not visit this restaurant again. This decision isn’t due to any issue with the quality of the restaurant but because we are unwanted or unexpected. By the way, the food was delicious, and the staff’s demeanor was excellent. They treated us equally without any discrimination. I am sincerely grateful for their service. However, that isn’t the main issue. If you decide to visit this restaurant, please consider whether you are the type of customer they wish to serve.

Great place with tasty food, friendly people and overall a nice location. Many vegetarian options for all kinds of meals. Definitely recommend. Nice place with lots of vegetarian options as well as traditional Scottish food. Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch and in between with nice people.

Menu says middle bacon but serves back bacon. Great coffee. Food good but not exceptional. Service attentive. Quite expensive but it is Edinburgh!

I didn't even have time to take photos because it was so appetizing. The service is fast and the meals are delicious. The waitresses are attentive and constantly ask if everything is going well.

It’s a busy cafe! It has limited seating, but its location in Old Town was greet for us. I had a party of 8 and the food came out in good time. It’s overwhelming for waiters to attend a crowded room, be patient and kind with them.

Its hard to actually review Scotts based on a star rating as our server Francesca was fantastic, so friendly and attentive, however the server who brought our food, Justina I believe was her name, was the polar opposite. We ordered string fries and she brought normal chips and when we questioned this her reply was 'oh well this is what you have been given' and she walked away! We then ordered a specialist hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and she brought the hot chocolate out without either topping. Her attitude was extremely disappointing and completely ruined our lunch experience. We couldn't not leave a tip as Francesca was fabulous but we did leave less than we normally would.

Very nice shop, perfect location overlooking Victoria Street from above if you sit outside. Given the very touristy spot it is in, the food was honest. The service was impeccable from everyone!

Wife got the soup of the day and it was an incredible venison stew with mash potatoes. .. excellent! Seriously, order that. Great and clean bathrooms for customers, and I feel like there were nice priced options for extra hungry or just a bite.

Bus recommended, we ordered breakfast with granola and Scotch eggs, both very tasty and at relatively affordable prices for the old part of Edinburgh. The place has a terrace but we didn't use it because it was a little cold

We came in right as the kitchen was closing, and we tried to fight, but they were insistent we sat down. I’m so glad that we did! The best haggis we both ever had! delicious! The server Sarah was so friendly. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else in Edinburgh over this place!

Brooke was lovely and friendly, she make sure we were having a great time. However, the food we have was disappointing , the burger and the chips were a bit burn and dry. Good Mac and cheese

The incredible place, perfect location, the spectacular eggs Benedict with bacon, the best in all of Edinburgh, the super attentive service, delighted with Brooke's good treatment. We will repeat without a doubt. The only thing that could be improved is the orange juice is bottled, not freshly squeezed.

20 years in the UK and this was the worst breakfast I've ever had. They took it off the bill, but I had to complain a few times which was uncomfortable. The black pudding was hard as a rock and cold. Eggs on both the Benedict and Full breakfast were hard and cold. You could chip a tooth on the toast, and what was described as a "Butchers sausage with homemade beans" was a pink Richmond with unseasoned cold tinned tomatoes. The "potato scone" tasted like a sponge that had been saturated in fryer oil, but the haggis was good..

Decided to come to Scott’s kitchen for lunch after hiking up Arthur’s seat. We sat out on the terrace and the weather was gorgeous. Our server Lauren was very attentive and the food was fabulous. We had the traditional Haggis and Sticky toffee pudding with an Elderberry Noctail.

We got the Haggis, Casserole, & soup of the day. All of which were incredible and I would recommend all of the dishes to everyone! The prices were incredibly fair & the food was superb. If you’re in the area you should certainly go!
