Tight & tiny, gives literal and subjective meaning to the word "cozy". The coffee is robust and tasty, the tart we had was fabulous along with the cappuccino and latte we had. Don't miss the back room, which has its own lovely charm. Stop by at Artisan. Yum!

We were there these past few days at the Fringe and we were looking for a good speciality coffee not thinking we would stumble upon the warmest people in Edinburgh, we felt so welcome! We went there every morning, the coffee (and pastries) was delish and the place was also very comfy ✨ We will be back! (No tip is high enough for these guys 😌)

Very nice coffee. Went twice. Only have oat and dairy milk which is probably a good thing as I found the soy in Edinburgh pretty horrible. The piccolo (which they call a cortado in most places) was smooth and well extracted. Best coffee I had on my trip and due to jet lag o had several.

The most delicious coffee - smooth and full of complex flavors - paired with friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. I was staying nearby and stopped in my first morning in Edinburgh, then went back every morning for the rest of the trip. I’ve tried quite a few coffee shops over several trips to Edinburgh and this one is by my far my favorite.

This is IMHO one of best artisan coffee place in Edinburgh. The coffee was full of flavors and consistently delicious every time I came. The decaf was also very good - chocolatey, nutty and full of coffee sweetness.

Excellent coffee shop in central Edinburgh five mins walk from the coach station, perfect when you get off the overnight coach and want a great cup of coffee. I found this place by Google search on the overnight coach coming into the city and decided to give it a try, let's say it was a really great find and I would recommend this place for anyone looking for great quality coffee. We ordered a cortado, a cappuccino and a mocha - all three were perfectly served and tested excellent, if I made coffee that good at home then I would be proud. This is true artisan coffee made to a very high standard and far superior to anything you'll find in the usual coffee shops, so don't waste your time and money - walk a few minutes from the center of town and find the best coffee in Edinburgh, you won't be disappointed. Really great start to our day out in Edinburgh and coming from London where we have lots of good coffee shops I can say the Artisan Roast in Edinburgh is one of the best I've found anywhere.

Excellent specialty coffee, tested and approved on several occasions (flat white, latte, hot chocolates... The pastries are also delicious, with a special mention to the almond croissant). Warm and relaxed Scottish atmosphere, the staff is attentive and knows their job (big up to the historic manager of the place, Steven, who if he is inspired will please you with his mastery of latte art). The place is very nice (whether it is the main room or the room with the fireplace. In short, the best coffee shop around!

We had an order of latte and cortado with a pastry. The coffee is really nice and expertly prepared. The pastry was also very delicious and a great compliment for the coffee. The service is really fast and the staff are friendly and helpful. The store has a nice ambiance were you would like to sit and sip your coffee.

Amazing coffee spot with great single origin roasts (I had a Guatemalan and Kenyan) and beautifully made lattes. Small space in the back to sit and relax was cozy with some local artists work on the walls. Also the carrot cake was delicious! Definitely going back if I'm ever in Edinburgh again.

We had a great time here. The place is super cozy and comfortable. Me and my GF had a normal and salted caramel hot chocolate which I can recommend, especially for this price. Usually I don't fancy salted caramel but this cup was delicious. The baristas were super friendly and we had a very pleasant chat with both of them. We'll definitly come back again and I will recommend it to my friends.

Specialty coffee and a store.. a place crowded with a lot of things, but beautiful.. it gives you the feeling that you are at home.. the workers here are affectionate and kind.. it provides different options for sessions. I had the Americano Salvador, it was acidic but delicious.

Rude bearded barista made my trip and unenjoyable one. Made snide comments multiple times and kept referring to me as 'pal' at the end of these comments. Bad customer service and would not return because of it.

The man serving us was very rude. He misheard the order and when I questioned it after realising we'd been over charged he made a comment accusing that we were wrong. Will not be returning. Poor customer service.

We were served by a guy called Tom who is the friendliest person on earth! He is very knowledgeable about coffee and pointed me towards a Chinese coffee, which was amazing, and something I never would have chosen on my own. Best of all, in this place you get a second cup of coffee if you buy the batch brew, which really surprised me. Such a great, cool place.

I come here a lot because the coffee - particularly the flat white - is always good and strong. My experience today was a negative one. I ordered soup entitled Moroccan Chickpea which turned out to be largely tinned tomatoes with a few bits of celery and the odd chickpea. It was so bad I didn’t eat it. The first flat white was weak and milky. The second one (when I complained) was marginally stronger (but not the usual animal) and the milk had been scalded to such an extent that I had to wait 5 minutes before I could safely drink it. So I’m £9.50 plus tip out of pocket for no lunch and a poor coffee. I now have to get my hair cut on an empty stomach. Disappointing all round

I've ordered coffee brans from Artisan for home in the past, but they coffee shop was not good. It was very old and in need of refurbishment inside, plus it was cramped. There were cakes, but the people serving didn't even know what they were. It felt like an amateur was running the place, not a coffee specialist. I will very likely not be returning, which is a shame, because their coffee beans are good.

Really liked the cafe late. Friendly service! They also have a few baked goods including good croissants to go with your coffee. Can also buy beans to brew coffee at home.

A unique Artisan Coffee House, we followed the beautiful aroma of coffee when walking down Broughton Street, it led us in.....freshly ground coffee served to sit in a lovely little bright airy back room with comfortable benches and chairs or you can sit around front shop on high tables and stools, Staff were welcoming, helpful in suggesting coffee to try ...will certainly return

Queued up to be met by indifference. I don’t expect much but a couple of words would have been nice. There’s plenty of choice in Stockbridge if you’re looking for great coffee and pleasant service. Today I didn’t find either at Artisan Roast.

We've been going here since it opened and having their beans delivered during lockdown was a bit of a life saver! We still get them. The cafe in Broughton Street is our favourite (the front part at least). Steve, the current manager, sets the scene with his knowledge and passion for coffee, and other baristas and servers are also interested and helpful. The house blend is excellent but we also like to try their single origins for our long blacks.

Discreet from the street, but truly unmissable inside! Warm atmosphere as if we had entered someone's cozy apartment, parquet floor, fireplace, green plant... we loved it!! As a bonus, excellent coffee, chai and pastries! We will definitely come back!

Went nearly every day of our six day Edinburgh visit because the coffee (flat white) is the best in town. Nice staff, comfy back room seating and we also liked the cinnamon roll.

We had a couple of cups of excellent, quality coffee that were the best during our short visit to Edinburgh. Nice apple pastry too. Staff relaxed, friendly and know what they're doing re.coffee. Relaxed, unhurried feel and a stylish, eclectic, shabby-ish chic setting. Would choose to visit again.
