Incredible atmosphere. Perfect for Fans of Horror. Highlights are decoration, the cinema and the karaoke area.

Easily has one of the best aesthetics I've seen of a pub, the regulars and staff are all lovely, and I can't recommend this place enough.

Such a cool vibe here. It honestly is a labyrinth, it's genuinely a maze inside. But lots of cool little corners to tuck yourself away in and some great live performance spaces to check out.

I was at Banshee Labyrinth for Perry Frank's live performance, and it was an unforgettable experience. The venue’s underground vibe and great acoustics created an intimate atmosphere, perfect for his set.

Aggressive bouncers. Bar staff are very rude and make fun of people who don't sound like them. Pool table area is nice though. Avoid and go elsewhere

Super recommended bar. Incredible decoration, it looks like a real labyrinth with a horror atmosphere, rooms that emulate dungeons, coffin-shaped tables, and even a cinema in one of the rooms where they show scary movies. One of the best bars I have found. The approximate price of a pint is 6 pounds.

Fantastic place, amazing variety of rooms, bar staff were really nice, the cinema is super chill. Unfortunately the power mad bouncer put a dampener on our experience, acted really strange on our leaving.

Unfortunately, my experience with the security at the entrance was disappointing. The behavior of the security staff seemed hostile and discriminatory, not only towards people from other backgrounds but even towards Europeans. He made a comment about my Air Force sneakers, stating there was a minimum dress code required, but once inside, we noticed others wearing the same sneakers had no issues. Additionally, there were uncomfortable moments with inappropriate jokes and a sarcastic attitude during the interaction. If you're looking for a more welcoming atmosphere, I would suggest considering nearby pubs instead.

WORST BAR IN EDINBURGH! EXTREMELY RUDE SECURITY! IT SEMEED LIKE IT WAS AN ACT OF XENOFOBIA! I visited the Labyrinth bar on January 25th and 26th. On the 25th, the security guard was extremely rude and harsh and didn’t let us in because we didn’t have physical IDs. We are foreigners, tourists, and don’t carry our passports everywhere due to the risks involved. We asked if a photo of the ID would work (as all other bars accepted it), but he refused. Fine! We returned the next day with our physical IDs, and he still didn’t let us in because we were wearing sneakers – even though there were many people inside the bar wearing sneakers! He was extremely rude! Don’t go to this bar; what was supposed to be a peaceful night out turned into a stressful experience! I don’t recommend it to anyone!

10/10 on the spookiness scale! My friend and I watched a movie there and it was a very nice atmosphere and super cheap tickets. Also, the staff were super friendly!

Such a good rock venue. I love that it has a cinema that's open late at night Loads of space for gigs downstairs. I particularly like when karaoke is on downstairs. Has pool tables as well. Plenty of seating even when it's busy. Supposed to be haunted but luckily I've never experienced anything creepy.

Great pub in Edinburgh! The interior is themed and tastefully done, so it perfectly recreates the spooky atmosphere of the town. Good variety of beer but still leaves a lot to be desired. I definitely recommend a visit to Banshee's Labyrinth!

Cool place. Not a good first experience though, one of the bartenders were really rude and basically told us to leave when we tried to order drinks.

My friend showed me this interesting bar, and although I usually don’t drink much, I ordered at least a bottle of cider. I couldn’t finish even a half of it still, but it was in a bottle so I just was on my way outside the bar. The security guard forcefully pulled the bottle out of my hand and only then said it wasn’t allowed to take it outside the bar. I have two things to note: 1. Please explain your security guards that it’s polite to talk a bit nicely to visitors and first do the talking, and then accept the bottle. I don’t want anyone to approach me forcefully, I could just leave it myself. 2. This is an outrageous policy per se. I paid for the bottle, and I see no reason why I can’t take it away, it’s not in a glass that belongs to the bar or anything like that. If it has anything to do with me having an open bottle on the street, that is my responsibility, and maybe I would jump right into a taxi. And normally, a good place would offer to seal the bottle so that it could be taken outside without causing any legal problems.

Atypical bar which is clearly worth the detour

As (foreign) metalheads, we were not very welcome in this horror costume bar. In 1 room we were not allowed to talk, 2 rooms were closed, in 1 there was a horror performance and in the only rock part we were even clearly in the way. Not a rock bar this, but a costume party for....horror goths or something?

Banshee is an awesome bar, loads of little nooks and crannies to discover, cool music (if you're into heavy metal and rock, which I am) great service from the bartenders and the beer is really well priced, probably the cheapest I've had in Edinburgh. I like that it really feels like a haunted pub. Definitely worth going to and will be back again for sure!

2 amazing gin tonics (edinburgh gin) for 10£, and the atmosphere is like nothing else. Absolutely stunning place, you really get to have a unique experience entering this place. Plus everyone is so chill and cool!

"Wtf is this place? Where am i?" That was me the whole time. There a lot of different "chambers" or "dungeons" with different vibes, there was even a cinema inside the pub. Really weird but also really cool, it was fun to visit. Definitely a must if you are visiting Edinburgh

A filthy bar, where the waiters/bartender are rude, almost no HACCP rules are respected, the waitress/bartender dips the coke dispenser in the glass? You have to take into account that it is a job and that you have to wash your hands between two different actions. Which of course they don't do. I still can't understand how it is possible to refuse access to this very low quality bar, or even at all, to people wearing jogging pants? Your bar smells of mold, the toilets and staff are dirty, and yet you manage to laugh in the faces of polite and respectful customers who face you only because they have jogging pants? Lamentable. Go to a bar where respect and kindness are advocated, anything but that one.

They created a 'token' system to see shows but did not tell anyone. Missed shows that we travelled to see due to this.

Lovely staff, unique building. Had quite the nicest door supervisor - respectful, helpful, efficient - on one Friday night I have ever encountered.

This gothic bar is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is incredibly cool, with dark and moody decor that really sets the vibe. The staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The service is top-notch, with quick and attentive bartenders. It's a great spot to enjoy some unique drinks and soak in the ambiance. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fantastic night out!

This place was my absolute favourite in Edinburgh, very cool, very gothic, the staff and the bouncers very actually the nicest people ive met here in Edinburgh. The cinema was amazing (very unusual and original)

Funky and fun atmosphere though a bit dank. Cool movies and other events weekly. The bathroom had a leaky sewage pipe which was disgusting.

Is it a touristy spot? ..yeah probably, I’m a tourist. Is it a little cheesy? Absolutely and in exactly the way you want. Staff is great, this is one of my favorite places to duck out in if there’s a rain shower and I’ve already had dinner.

Had a really fun time as always yesterday attending the horror festival, doctor bonk show! Can’t recommend enough the amazing spooky banshee labyrinth as a venue for a fun nights, festivals and screenings!

I went there to have a drink with my boyfriend and I unfortunately lost my purse in the bar. There’s no way to contact them, all my Ids were inside my purse along with my money. Today I’m flying back home early so I can’t even go back to ask about it. I am utterly dissapointed that I can’t even call them about it. The service was nice, the drinks were good. (Kinga with the hungarian id)

I used to love this place, but now the doormen are appalling. I've been refused entry twice for being drunk, when one of those times I'd only had two drinks, so I wasn't even tipsy. Another time, I popped out for a cigarette and wasn't allowed back in, even though my girlfriend was still inside. Both times, I got into many other bars afterwards without any problems. They've completely ruined this place for me, so I won't be back. I used to always recommend this place to people going to Edinburgh, too. Not anymore.

Best bar I've ever been too. The architecture is like an underground gothic maze, the events were amazing, staff were so friendly and interesting people drinking there. So excited to come back here when I return to edinburgh. Also pints are so cheap!

Without a doubt a must-see in Edinburgh. Concerts, movies, horror experiences, beers and whiskey. You can not ask for more.

Went to a gig, place was clean and well lit, the service was good if a bit perfunctory, a bit on the expensive side but overall no complaints.

The bar that I liked the most in Edinburgh: horror decoration, labyrinthine corridors with stairs that go up and down, rooms with tables, karaoke, billiards... and even a cinema! The beers are very varied and delicious. Next time I'm back in Edinburgh, I'll be back!

Super cool atmosphere, it's like a maze and in each room there is a different activity (from billiards to karaoke). The cocktails are super cheap and delicious, as well as a great variety and very creative names. Definitely a pub to go see and have a drink if you are in Edinburgh!!

Horror-themed bar, a creepy and mystifying atmosphere, I loved it.

We were there shortly after it opened during the week. When we asked the staff present, we were completely ignored and after wandering around we left the store again. Unfortunately I can't say whether metal/rock is actually played here.

I've not tried the food but will on my next visit in October, this was a great place to go for late night karaoke after Beltane, loved the decor and the staff were nice.

The people who run the karaoke are very unwelcoming and unprofessional to people that they're not already buddies with. They straight up just make a fool of you when you perform and don't even acknowledge you when the song is over.

Groovy pub for children of the night. Our regular haunt, well worth a trip off Royal Mile.

I wasn't expecting anything from this place except maybe a little weird fun. What I got was definitely fun but in the sweetest locals-are-the-best way. I went for karaoke but got invited into the cinema room for a storytelling show called "Diary Confidential" in which grown adults read real things they wrote as kids. It was a touching window into young innocence and angst, and poignantly revealed how we confusing it is to grow up trying to make sense of what the world around us tells us is right/wrong. The locals were cheering for every sentence and meaning every clap and whoop. The bartender, Connor, was an absolute sweetheart and made me feel right at home from the moment I entered the darkened halls. Would recommend to anyone looking for something a little different from the classic pub experience.

Great bar for alternative people. Went there for a movie screening and again a few days later. Will visit again. Good choice of beers and drinks in general

Gothic place for rock and beer lovers

The bartender is an absolute bellend. Extremely rude and is on a power trip. An embarrassment to an otherwise cool place. Refusing to accept a legal form of ID and kicking out people after they’ve paid for their ticket already… An absolute scam.

Mods, rockers, punks, goths and Hell's Angels, I've met them all in this little gem, and also have played numerous gigs here with my band and saw various others. There's a cinema, a pool table and loads of little nooks and crannies to sit in. Karaoke nights are always fun and the barstaff are always braw and cheerful.

Brought my daughter 20 here to see a band (comfort girl) but the security wouldn't let her in what I could only see as disability discrimination she had ID we weren't drinking I was absolutely furious. I have been a customer here for many years, and this experience has really put me off. I do think there is a problem in Edinburgh just now with problematic doormen though.
