For the relatively high prices charged we would have expected decent cuisine. Instead the dishes looked as if they were thrown together. Linguine floating in a tasteless sauce with a few bits bits of dried chicken.. Red Thai curry …..dried chicken, very little watery curry sauce at the foot of plate. No offer of chutney. We have eaten here a number of times but will certainly not be back. Something has gone seriously wrong in the kitchen

I arrived here wet and tired. I had a lot of luggage. Biata, the manager was so kind. She stored my luggage for me till I could get into my hotel, and she also printed off all my flight info! So unbelievably kind! The other staff were so lovely too. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely with beautiful art all around. I highly recommend a visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Open Arms. We were seated in the library which was very nice. Varied choice on the menu of Scottish fair. Food was well presented and delicious. The staff were very polite and friendly. It is a very traditional and homely place and a bit different for a special occasion.

We visited here on the last day of our holiday. We were greeted at the door with a warm smile and made to feel very welcome. The cafe was buzzing, great atmosphere and it was spotlessly clean. Shown to a table, menus handed out, sorted. Great choice. One large breakfast, roll n square slice and a roll n bacon and tattie scone. Two lattes. Wasn't long to wait, coffee arrived then our breakfasts (the cook might remember us, breakfast was served before she'd put the tomatoes on the plate, such an efficient service 😀). Everything was cooked to perfection, just the way we like it. 2 empty plates and 2 full tummies. As I said there is a lovely atmosphere here. Everyone was greeted with a smile and a friendly voice. The lady doing the waitress was quick and efficient. We are back on holiday in June 2022 and we won't just be having breakfast on our last day. I need to try their macaroni cheese. The scones are huge and I'm sure they be delicious and then there's the tray bakes... you don't diet when on holiday lol. X

The Hollies is a community cafe in the heart of Musselburgh. It offers very good food at a reasonable price. Apart from what is available on the menu there is always soup, a dish of the day and a sweet. The staff are very friendly and helpful and its the kind of place you can go to on your own without feeling out of place.

Lovely cafe at the rear of the gift shop. Super friendly staff and the best scones in East Lothian. The gift shop is also well worth a visit.

My wife and I went early Saturday evening for an anniversary dinner. The starters were excellent, but then the main courses arrived. My wife had the Sea Bass, expecting a reasonable sized piece of fish, she received a few thin pieces of tail end the skin was very rubbery. The accompanying, what she thought was something aubergine based vegetables, didn't look appetising at all, in fact it had a resemblance to something a dog had regurgitated. I had the Beef and Bone Marrow burger. This at the start was a very tasty burger albeit, with the dressings rather oily, until I got to the last mouth full, which appeared to be more marrow than beef, which I had to remove from my mouth rather quickly. At this point I decided against a dessert, I had one from our freezer when I got home. We had passed The Winton many times and had said we must try it. We had returned from an Holiday the day before and with it being our anniversary I thought we would go rather than cook at home. I am sorry I did now. To be honest I found The Winton to be slightly overpriced but under average food quality when compared to other restaurants in the surrounding area. Very unlikely we would return.
