You have to get past the slightly unfashionable frontage but once inside the service and food really hits the spot. I can't praise Megan highly enough. I'm not sure of the person's name who puts it all together in the kitchen but between them they pull off great customer service. The coronation chicken bap was reliable and excellent value. The fruit slice and empire biscuits are spot on. The freshly prepared tubs of fruit are a very good idea to help balance your meal plan. Plenty of bench and stool seating around the outside of the café but there is a smell of fry food. It is no surprise that this café is very popular. In the winter we sit inside but during the summer we take our lunch to one of the benches overlooking the sea.

Excellent toasted Panini's, generously filled. Good selection of chilled drinks and prices very reasonable. Got to try the homemade trifle pot. I tried both the Strawberry and the mandarin version. Mandarin was my favourite. Staff very friendly. A numbered order ticket service probably best during busy periods as it became a bit chaotic during our visit with how busy it got especially being a Saturday.

What an excellent spot. At 2pm we didn't hold out much hope of picking up lunch, but there was still a limited choice available. We ended up with a Scotch pie, tuna salad sandwich and a cheese and ham sandwich. Lovely soft bread, crispy salad and packed full of filling.

This takeaway cafe serves delicious, fresh food at a good price. The salads and rolls are excellent and filling and the fruit pots are amazing. Filled to the brim with fresh and exotic fruit. I have no idea where it comes from but as well as berries, grapes, melon, oranges and apples you will always get some exotic fruit. We have had , passion fruit, kumquat, kiwi, mango, pomegranate seeds at different times When you visit make sure you have the orange trifle too……it’s the best I have ever had, apart from my gran’s of course! We live 25 mins away from Dunbar, we wish we lived nearer beaus of the Food Hamper!

An excellent value for money takeaway cafe food establishment with a good range.of fresh, cooked to order hot options throughout the day as well as cold rolls, breakfast rolls , homemade cakes and slices. We had a a couple of long roll 'Treblers ' at £2.95 ( You can a single, double or triple item) which was a mistake! THEY ARE MAHOOSIVE! Hot , freshly cooked haggis, bacon and egg did us a treat. One would have been enough for both, so lunch is sorted as well. The coffee is nice too, but not 'the best in the world as one reviewer claimed', still it was very good. Brilliant value for money. Pay it a visit.

Must be one of the most unfriendly cafe's I've been to. Food was fine. Service was slow, took 20 minutes to serve a fry up! (when there was only one other table seated - they seem to prioritise phone orders for takeaway over sit-in). Nearly gave up and went to McD's. Above all that though, is the thoroughly miserable "service". Just no interest at all in the customer and negligible social skills. It seems, by watching the ladies serving, that if you're an old time "local" then you get some kind of interaction and that 'smile' thing the hold in reserve. Everyone else? Just expect the rudimental interactions of taking and delivering an order. If you just want a cheap morning roll then this place is fine, if you value a smile and to actually feel welcome, maybe try The Wishing Tree, or Graze.

Called to Dunbar early morning on a Sunday, not a lot open but nice to stroll around, came across this little cafe and decided to have breakfast, cute inside, nice and clean. Three ladies working behind the serving area were very welcoming, we found a table and the I went and placed an order for two full breakfasts from the menu. Lady came and brought it to the table for us, asked if we wanted tea with the breakfast which was nice as most serve it before food comes. Lovely filling breakfast indeed, cooked lovely, eggs done to perfection as well as toast. Tea was fab too. Menu was basic but great for a small business to cope with. Had a deli fridge full of beautiful freshly made sandwiches, cakes, pastries. We took two large slices of homemade chocolate cake away with us. Nice to do takeaway food too. Checked on us to ensure all was well, nice touch. Very busy little place, not a lot of seating but it was a small cafe after all. Only slight downside were the sausages, could be better but maybe we’re too fussy. Overall little find.

Sometimes places are basic because they lack imagination or ambition but other times its because they want to offer nice simple food. Thats this place - it is a cafe and thats that. Some people might be put off but others might be comforted. If this place was by my work I would frequent it a lot for TGIF snacks. I had their burger and was a little disappointed as with a few tweaks it would be quite decent. Their coffee is nice though so if you are walking by I would give this place a go.

Sit in or takeaway, they offer a simple menu that includes regular favorites such as bacon butties, vegetarian breakfast, soups or my staple favourite when in town, a bacon, brie & cranberry baguette. Came across this eatery on a Sunday morning. We needed a veggie breakfast and this turned out to be just what we wanted. A cheerful bright seating area with the kitchen in full view was a bonus. We were provided with two huge plates of a full breakfast and filter coffees to follow. (And change from a £10 note!). It gets much busier on a week day we found with the lads from the nearby building project popping in for their breakfast rolls and other take-aways. However this didn't affest our enjoyment of several breakfasts during the week. We were amused to discover that the Food Hamper could provide what is claimed to be the strongest coffee in the world. It's name is Death Wish! Staff were cheerful and obliging throughout and we offer our congratulations for their little gold mine of a coffee shop.

This is a must to try when in Dunbar. Quite a small place with only a few tables. The staff are extremely nice and very friendly, joking with us and the local's. They do an all day breakfast, my husband said he had never tasted such tasty bacon. We came here twice, on the second occasion, I had the smaller breakfast, which wasn't what you would call small, there was more than enough, and very tasty it was too. Tea and coffee were included in the price £5.95 for the big breakfast and £4.95 for the small. We bought four scones to take for our journey home, they were selling,,,,,, well, like hot cakes!!!! We got two cheese and two fruit, they were delicious, £3 for four scones, how cheap is that? They were also very busy making up sandwiches for people to take away. They also do home made soup, and delicious looking cakes. I noticed one of the staff looking at one of the cakes, which she didn't look too happy about, and threw it away. We had a delightful lunch at East Coast Musselburgh today, choosing from their set menu. The restaurant is clean, contemporary, and tastefully decorated, which created a welcoming atmosphere. We both started with the mussels in a spicy tomato sauce that also served as a flavorful broth. The sauce had the perfect balance of heat and richness, complementing the fresh mussels. For mains, I opted for the Spaghetti Harbour, which was generously portioned and packed with clams and mussels. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and the dish was hearty yet refined. My wife had the King Prawn Calamari, which was served with a light, perfectly cooked batter, accompanied by crispy skinny fries, a fresh salad, and tartare sauce. She loved the combination of flavors and textures. We washed everything down with a refreshing Leith draught beer, which rounded off our meal perfectly. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. The facilities were well-maintained, including spotless toilets, which is always a good sign. Overall, the meal was excellent value for money, and we left feeling satisfied and eager to return. I highly recommend East Coast for anyone looking for fresh seafood and a great dining experience in Musselburgh.

Went here today for a birthday meal What a total and utter disappointment the quality of the food was very poor. I would have rated it no stars but had to give at least one to continue with the review. The meal I ordered was billed as a triple steak burger, OMG it was awful, when it was served to me the burger was bone dry and very small, over cooked and totally tasteless. There was no burger sauce, (what we were offered was a bottle of ketchup and seriously watered down mayo) there was no onion or cheese only a little piece of stale lettuce and one slice of very thin tomato in the very dry bun. It was listed as being served with rustic chips but I actual found they were nothing more than a handful of frozen skinny fries from a bag. I was charged almost £17 for this which is an absolute disgrace. I've had far better any tastier burgers from McDonald's for a third of the price. My partner had what was billed as peppered chicken which was very poor, served in a skillet which was no deeper than a saucer and it was served without rice which was listed on the menu. The manager came over before it was served and gave her a spoon and we were wondering why you would need a spoon to eat the meal! Then It became apparent when it was served, hardly any chicken and a few bits of pepper and onion and was swimming in some kind of peppered sauce, hence the spoon. This was also priced around £16/17, again ridiculously over priced for what was actually offered. We checked out the menu online before booking a table but when we arrived we were given a totally different menu from what was online. Then to top it all we paid cash and after some time we had to ask for our change from the bill (over £5). When the ki Manager came over he then said "folk normally say just to keep the change " we were Shocked and utterly embarrassed by this comment. What an absolute rip off this place is and we certainly won't be back .
