Called in for a meal each all cooked to perfection quick service clean and tidy staff but had to ask for the table to be cleaned only took the plates left the glasses would recommend

My wife came in with our son after some bad family news. She came home and told me how much the service added some brightness to a horrific day so I felt it was important to write on here. She was greeted by a lovely girl - didn’t get her name but she had reddish hair. Not only did she hold a conversation with our son - who really doesn’t talk to people he doesn’t know, but went above and beyond to fulfil his (very!) awkward requests. My wife had no intention of getting anything as it was more of a distraction for him. But she ended up getting herself an ice cream and brought me some cake home! It seems silly but this experience changed the rest of the day for us. I’m told the ice cream was delicious and the cake was to die for ! I understand everyone has different experiences but we’ve never had a bad one here. Thank you for the difference you made!

Visited the Highwayman today for lunch. We all chose the carvery which was fab, the beef was amazing! Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. My sister is caeliac and they took a lot of time making sure she was accommodated. Excellent ! Will def be back.

Go here nearly every weekend. Not sure why the reviews are so low…. Maybe it has changed over the past couple of years. The food is lovely and very reasonable. The staff are always very friendly. Love this place 🥰🥰. 100% would recommend.

This is the worse Sunday lunch I have had in a while. The veg were all underdone and the meat very poor. It’s difficult to cook turkey badly but it was overcooked and dry. My wife’s beef was inedible.

Came here today - one of our kids knocked the table which resulted in a full pint (only one sip taken!!) and a coke being spilled. The staff cleaned up the glass then replaced the drinks for free. Actually amazed by the gesture. Our boys are autistic and can easily be triggered - we were ready for ww3 cos one had smashed to glasses. Felt I needed to leave a review because this act of kindness from the staff at the old silver grid has made a massive impact on the kids and our stay. Thanks again x

Good,hot,plentiful food. Great value, friendly staff. Everyone in our party left full and happy, we especially enjoyed the deserts for only a little bit extra when we bought our main meals.

Lovely welcome and friendly staff. We called in after a walk for a pub lunch and were not disappointed. Good selection of pies, Yorkshire Puddings with fillings and Ciabattas. Very dog friendly pub.

weve been here couple of times its now under new management still enjoyed the haddock and chips cooked in beef dripping still not badly priced

Visited for a friend's birthday, restaurant clean and tidy. Food and Drink Found it very expensive for the quality of food and drink. The beer was weak, I had Scampi, Chips and Mushy Peas. The Scampi was under cooked looked anemic, Chips were bland oven chips, very little taste and the ppeas were so thick you could stand your knife in them. Coffee although it was supposed to be freshly made was only luke warm. Parking For anyone with walking difficulties it is a fair distance from the car park to the entrance to the restaurant so some people could have problems

Tried this place while passing with my family. Food was delicious we ordered fish and chips gammon and 2 childrens meals. staff were very helpful with my elderly gran. If their was six stars id give them that.

I cannot fault anything about this place all the staff are so welcoming and one member of staff went out of their way to be polite and even called us by our names she was called Courtney and definitely an asset to the restaurant. The food is always fresh and hot. The environment is so covid safe which is so important for me.

Arrived around lunchtime, menu choices poor compared to the breakfast menu which had just finished although the food we did have was tasty. Not much choice in the self service area, for the cost, there should have been a wider choice given we arrived at 12.00. To be fair, we were in there more than the 3 hours allotted time as our flight was delayed but the staff were happy for us to stay as there was plenty room. Good views of runway

We stayed at the riverside hotel for the weekend. We could not have been happier, the rooms are lovely and clean, tge breakfast is lovely. We had an evening meal here one evening and not one of us had any complaint about anything. It's perfect. The man who was serving us and chatting to us made it even more enjoyable ( sorry I didn't get your name) he was chatty , informed and a pleasure to talk to. Terrible experience. Horrible atmosphere as soon as we walked in. The guy working there had an attitude problem, shouting at the young female waitress and telling the whole cafe that it was her second day. Had an argument with two other customers as they'd been waiting a while for two cups of tea. Even the customer said that he is stressed and he didn't like that and began arguing. Getting all the orders wrong and blaming the young waitress. Stated he is not taking anymore orders even though I'd been sat on the table and my mum ordered just before me. I had to tell him we were together. Such an uncomfortable atmosphere. How he works in hospitality/customer service is beyond me. Clearly the wrong industry. The poor staff, clearly not a very good trainer, but not his fault. AVOID as you'll only be left disappointed and leaving with a headache.
