The service is always so SLOW. Coffee tastes ok if you can be bothered to wait 20 minutes plus! We are thinking of using a different place for our Saturday coffee.

Ordered coffee and toasted tea cake.I went to table with coffee and waited for food to come. After waiting twenty minutes I had drunk coffee so I went to counter to see where food was and nobody gave me an explanation as to what had happened so I asked for my money back.Staff were very rude and not one of them apologised. That’s the last time I visit this cafe it’s back to costa when I’m in Ilkley again.

Ordered fish finger sandwich and the order was taken at the till. 5 mins later someone came to our table to say they have no fish fingers. I decided on a prawn sandwich and they had no prawns. We also ordered fries which came out cold. We sent these back and someone came out to the table to say they had no fries left. Flat white wasn’t a flat white and was warm not hot. We ordered at 1.25pm and got all our food at 1.55pm. Very poor service and availability considering it was dinner time. They clearly have serious issues. We got our money back but I would rather have paid and had my first choice.

We usually go to the Kendal store, but the Ilkley café was a real letdown. The glass cups were filthy, and my wife being gluten-free had limited food options. Additionally, there was no tuna available just after midday. Overall, it was disappointing. Although the staff tried to maintain a good attitude, the service fell short compared to the Kendal branch.

We love the store but the café was a real let down. Had to ask for clean cutlery twice as was dirty. I ordered the breakfast which had over cooked bacon solid egg and my friend had chips which were more than Al dente simple not cooked enough. I would usually speak out but on this occasion choose not too. Really could do with a token from the store to compensate.

Went to Booths cafe with family. Then a week later I get a parking fine for £100 (£50 if paid early) for staying longer than 2 hours. We never left Booths and are not responsible for the speed of the food. Booths use Parkingeye for all of their stores. Whilst this is a third party, Booths pay them and are aware of the policies. I could appeal but it will fail ( see other reviews here). However, one year’s shopping at £75 per week is £3900. I shall therefore boycott Booths until they change their parking policy.

We frequently come for meals and last time was no difference! Perfect with the kids and easy breakfast, the kids shared a large breakfast which is ideal. Unsure what others expect but is exactly what we wanted, stress free offering and easy dining. Sometimes there is a little wait but to be expected when busy.

I initially liked the store, however waited 10mins for friend. Then waited 20mins for food. Then10 mins for drink. My friend left and I decided to shop. Bought cards and planned to come back for essential oils another day. I did not go off of the site. Altogether I was 2hrs 10mins. I got a parking fine. I appealed and failed. However they let me pay £20. I think that any supermarket that has a cafe should allow 3hrs. Especially when you have to wait ages. I will not return for essential oils.

A friend of mine has always raved about the Booths' chain of supermarkets so, while visiting Ilkley, I popped in to see for myself. Now I know why she loves this store. It's attractive, welcoming, well stocked with a wide range of edible products and the best Fish, Meat and cheese counters of any supermarket. With lovely friendly staff it was the first time I can honestly say I really enjoyed visiting a supermarket. Thank you Booths.

My wife and I called in the Cafe at Booths in Ilkley this morning and had a gorgeous breakfast. My wife had Toast and Marmalade and I had a Sausage Sandwich, simple I know, but lovely. The coffee was great too. The Cafe is very clean and is a really pleasant place to be. The main thing that I want to mention is the excellent service that we received. The lady who served us was called Bev and she was so professional and polite, it was so refreshing. Thank you.

for us, Booths is the Waitrose of the North - what a wonderful store in Ilkley - just loved all their different counters - not least the butchery - and the quality of everything is tremendous! All the staff are very friendly, and it was very easy to move around the store and find everything which we wanted. Quick check out process (by a colleague) and easy parking. Love it here!

I neglected to write a review of my previous visit a few weeks before the enforcement of lockdown. Quite what I ordered I struggle to recall, but let's just say that what arrived led me to realise that Booth's commitment to recycling is not limited to the charity bins in the car park! I noted on my more recent visit that the cafe is closed. Good! I have had excellent meals there in the past, but based on the last visit they deserve to lose some revenue till they can reopen. Not that the shop was quiet - it would appear that boom enjoyed by supermarkets recently is also taking place here. It was a pretty aggravating experience really, as each member of my party was required to take a trolley each to "enforce social distancing and limit the number of people in the store". Unfortunately it actually caused a lack of space due to the number of trolleys vs customers, and I wonder if they've thought about the implications for fire safety? All in all not a bad visit, Bendicks Bittermints on offer but Capstan Full Strength out of stock - the wife was somewhat displeased! If we are typical customers of Booths, it is safe to say that the present government might be grateful to us for more than just our votes! Might Booths ask on our behalf for an exemption to all these nonsense rules for what is, after all, a small chain of high end supermarkets?

Oh dear!Same old story of two halves I'm afraid! An excellent Full English and coffee while my wife partook of Tea and a sandwich - pronounced tasty!A parking time limit introduced since my last visit! (I have become less inclined to use Ilkley Booths since I discovered Otley Waitrose in all it's spledours in recent times!) I might usually not stay longer than the prescribed limit, but heavens above, this IS Booths! We already pay through the nose for our groceries, many of which if we are honest ARE actually available in TESCO etc...An (albeit very polite and civil) argument with the charismatic lady on the kiosk about whether they have NEVER stocked Condor - despite buying this same tobacco off the same individual for many years! The Manageress......well management have the right to manage I suppose......I will be diplomatic and merely say what a robust individual she has proved herself to be once again! It is true, we do have the choice, and mostly these days I am tending to vote with my feet and go to Otley's Waitrose! It's hardly as though one has to drive far from the main road. On the other hand Booths does the better breakfast and is actually ON the main road. I can't say I would not visit again, but I would ask for better service on the newsagent stand, and the manageress must be read the riot act - this is a high end Supermarket. I would not actually object to shopping in an ASDA if this sort of behaviour is what one gets for spending so much more! Mr Booth needs to take note. Fortunately Lancaster was far better recently - but no cafe or toilets!!

On a day out, we ventured in to Booths Cafe in Ilkley....MISTAKE!!We should have seen the warning signs when we struggled to get a table for 4 of us, had to clear it, and there were no cleaning materials. As other reviewers have experienced, the staff are very nice but the food ordering process takes an age and then an age to arrive.Serving hot food on cold plates will inevitably lead to cold food by the time the meal is half way through. The all day breakfast was poor at best, with some items overcooked to the extreme. The scrambled egg on toast was a horror though did give us an opportunity to empathise with war time eating via dry reconstituted egg.The only part of the meal declared OK was one diners sausage sandwichDuring our visit we saw no attempt to clear the decks, wipe tables, and there was no check on how our food was.I can almost hear the reader (or indeed a manager reviewing this) saying "why didn't we complain". having waited in line to get napkins and seeing others having a similar poor experience, one is left with the desire to cut and run.We have eaten in a number of Booths Cafes when travelling in the North West, we will be avoiding the Ilkley Cafe in the future

Generally speaking breakfast here is OK particularly at the weekend. However come during the week and you run the gamble of it being spoilt by unruly children. It's always the same two groups, one are young mothers, dressed to reflect the towns affluence and country location, the other group are young mothers who work at the store and tend to meet when not on shift. The noise that emanates from these children is awful, but to be fair to them their mothers do not offer any control. Booths on duty cafe staff are equally to blame, it may be their friends they should be challenging, but please think of the other customers and show some respect.

I am sitting in the Ilkley Booths’ cafe as I write, having just finished a traditional breakfast priced at £4.95 and a pot of tea at £1.95. The breakfast comprised egg, two bacon, two grilled tomato halves, fried egg, hash brown, baked beans, mushrooms and a large sausage swirl. All well cooked and no cooking fat in sight. There was an option to order a large pot of tea for £2.75 but the smaller one which I had was ample to provide two full mugs. I don’t live locally but in the South West these days so was passing through while visiting friends and relatives in the North. Having read some of the previous reviews I did wonder what I might be letting myself in for. However the cafe is very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was served within 5 minutes of ordering and was hot and freshly cooked. The other food on display in the counter, including some fabulous and tempting Latham cakes, looked fresh and delicious and I really couldn’t fault the quality of what I had. Amazing value at £4.95 for a substantial breakfast. Well done Booths.

Supermarket Cafes are, lets be honest, a bit hit and miss. Booths is no exception but it always seems to be a little more 'Hit' than miss. Staff here are always friendly and even on the darkest, coldest morning they seem to be able to make you smile just a little. Produce is (as you would expect) fresh and generally, well cooked although, eggs sometimes present a problem. This is more than likely to be a hangover from Mrs Edwina Curry who had the whole world running for cover and treating eggs like they had suddenly become radio active and were going to bring humanity to an abrupt end at any minute. They can be...……..lets say, a little 'overdone' so specify when ordering.

The chef said he will have to get it amended! On the table next to us 2 families of 4 also had to change their choices away from the breakfast menu from which they wanted to order. I opted for soup of the day which was quite expensive considering it tasted and looked like tinned soup and was served with a slice of bread rather than a roll.

While I have become a bit of a Booths "Enthusiast" since retiring from the City to the Lake District, I have to say - with regret - that this store is the least impressive that I have visited. I have two issues with this store. Firstly, the range is not very good compared to other Booths. There are almost never more than 2 checkouts open, so why waste the space they occupy? Secondly, I have witnessed the manageress screaming and dressing down an employee in the middle of the store. I don't have any regard for someone who treats a subordinate in this way, and it has left me with a poor impression of the store overall.

Shop at this supermarket quite regularly for the odd luxury item. Went this morning and as I had an early start decided to visit the café for breakfast. Have had coffee and cake here in the past which is OK, but never for breakfast. This was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered an Americano coffee and scrambled eggs on toast. Don't know what they have done with the coffee as I have always enjoyed it in the past but today it was bitter and not very satisfying. As for the scrambled egg on toast that should read overdone eggs amongst toast. For some inexplicable reason they had cut the toast into four pieces and done some sort of pile of the toast and mixed in with that was the eggs. The eggs had been overdone and had no moisture left in them so they resembled grains of egg which were tasteless and difficult to eat either with the toast or on their own. Today fell short of the usual high standards I expect and receive at this supermarket, perhaps the kitchen was having an off day - but if you cannot get simple scrambled eggs on toast right, what does that say?

With a Booths card there is a reduction in the price of afternoon tea so we had to give it a go. The sandwiches are generously packed and made from standard sized bread, so are filling, we had tuna, egg and ham. The teapot is large and real tea is used, more than enough for two. Scones were tasty and cream and jam was sufficient. By the time I reached the top layer of mixed cakes I was full, so I recommend bringing a tub of some sort so you can take them home to enjoy later. A very nice afternoon tea good value for money.

We called for shopping on a Friday and decided to eat in the restaurant. Being fans of their shopping arena and having eaten very well at Booths Kendal we were disappointed with the quality of food served.Although there was nothing to specifically take up as a complaint, the jacket potato looked as though it had been left cooking since the start of food service (we lunched at 2-15). Our fish and chips contained too many 'bitty' hard chips and the thin breaded fished lacked both flavour and attractive as. Perhaps our expectations were too high late in the main service hours (12 to 3) but either improve the food consistency across service or reduce the hours please!

Booths like to cultivate an image of being a bit "posher" than other supermarkets, but cafe very similar to those in its rivals. An early song from the classic country rock band The Eagles is one of their anthems ,'Peaceful Easy Feeling" which is the mood created by 'Booths'. As kind readers of my reviews may know I am a man who enjoys the good simple quality endowed things in life. One of my favourite places to visit is the Yorkshire market town of Ilkley which is home to my favourite supermarket,'Booths'.(See my reviews for 'Ilkley Moor' and 'Bettys'.)'Booths' was founded by Edwin Henry Booth in 1847 in the once mighty seaside resort of Blackpool. It is still ,thankfully, privately owned despite the best efforts of a take over by the majors. The group now has a presence of 28 stores in Lancashire ,Cumbria and Yorkshire. They all offer, alongside the usual volume items ,an excellent selection of smaller independent suppliers and their products not usually found in the 'Asda's' of the world. One of the first things to greet you on entering the Ilkley store is their excellent cafe.I would imagine that the majority off the products sold in here were from local sources. The breakfast is excellent value at under £5 and the value extends through the rest of their offerings.Having dined the rest of the supermarket is a foodies heaven with their fresh meat.fish, fruit and veg and deli counters. They also have some excellent wine/beer offers to compliment your food selection as well as value on the rest of their products. So if you're looking for quality supermarket shopping and good food, before during and after your shop this is the place. On a final word the BIG bonus is the lack of annoying music and 'In-Your-Face' signage associated with most of the competition. So head to 'Booths' and shop with a 'PEACEFUL EASY FEELING'.

I came in here for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and decided to use the toilet before I settled down. The toilets were quite simply a disgrace with a wet floor as a result of a leak, no toilet paper and a general sense of being dirty. There was an assurance on the wall that the toilets are checked every hour but there is no evidence of a check list or a time sheet and I doubt very much the toilets had been addressed in the hour previous to my attendance. I drew the matter to the attention of Customer Service but after I waited 5 minutes and no one came to find me, I choose to take my business elsewhere. I note the poor reviews so can only assume, they do not care which is astonishing for a supermarket. Simply terrible.

Popped in after going to The Lawn Tennis Club in Ilkley on a Sunday, so the café wasn`t too busy. Had to wait in a queue to be served as those `on duty` appeared to be overly busy - but I couldn`t see why this should be the case. My husband and I only ordered drinks, but the offerings - such as scones and cakes did look lovely. Coffees lovely and hot and just right for us. Friendly staff. Not many tables with dirty plates on their surfaces which was good.

I called in ate morning in hope of a good breakfast, after all the supermarket is superb and I assumed that the cafe would be of an equivalent quality. What a shame it wasn't.Firstly, it was cold. OK, the weather outside was not exactly tropical but the room was distinctly cold and every time the outside doors opened there was another cold draught. Then to wait nearly 30 mins (the till receipts are timed, so I knew exactly how long I waited) for what I expected to be eggs benedict was a real disappointment. "Supposed to be" - hard poached eggs, toasted bread instead of the expected English muffins, and a cold and strangely 'off' tasting hollandaise drizzled over everything. If I had not been so hungry, I would have complained at both service and content. As it was I ate up and will not be going back.

You used to be able to pick a number of items from a large breakfast menu. Now it is a set breakfast that does not include black pudding or poached eggs or toast or white pudding. Very sad :( Also used to be great venue for after school easy tea between classes but now no hot food after 3pm.

I had high hopes for this as Booths supermarkets sell great food.Weak tea- In Yorkshire of all places!.Weak coffee-like coffee with famous Yorkshire generosity! Rubbery scrambled eggs. Husband's bacon in a bread bun pronounced "tasteless". Nothing to like. Sorry!

I had promised my son beans on toast for his tea, only to arrive at 5pm and be told that the only food after 3pm is toasted tea cakes or sandwiches. In the past I have taken my children here for their tea now and then. I asked if we could have toast as my son would have been happier with that than toasted tea cakes. The man working in the cafe told me that he would love to have made some toast but he is not allowed to make anything other than tea cakes after 3pm. I think this is a big mistake because the reason I had gone to Booths was to get tea and then do shopping, another time I would go to another supermarket where you can get food any time,Also, the Christmas tree was extremely sparsely decorated as was the rest of the cafe - just 4 decorations hanging overhead and snowflakes on the window. It could do with some colour, very school canteen.

We called into Booths in Ilkley, hoping for the usual good quality fare served up in other Booths supermarkets in the North, but were very disappointed with the poor selection of food. No sandwiches left at lunchtime. Scored highly on good quality coffee, however - and quite a generous sized scone. Time for an update, Booths Ilkley!

This is the way forward when shopping with the family wrinkley. Brief spot of shopping for quality produce and a wide variety of items not stocked else ware in a well laid out store. Followed by good coffee and cake in there very nice cafe.

Basic in the sense that tables and chairs are just that - nothing fancy. Food is good but not exceptional. However, the menu is more varied than you might expect and the range of cakes and sandwiches is definitely better than the usual fare in a supermarket cafe. Service is efficient but can be very slow at peak times. If you're shopping at Booths, then unless you go for a walk towards the town centre, there isn't anywhere else that's truly local if you want a snack or meal. I'd actually rate it as being Good but Tripadvisor doesn't offer that rating, si I chose 'Average' instead as I'd not really class it as 'Very good'.A lot of parents take their children there after school.

We have now visited Booths cafe a few times while travelling to/from Leeds. The cafe can get very busy but the staff are friendly and the food and coffee are worth while stopping for even if its just a bacon roll. Soup at lunchtime was also very good. Also has the advantage that the store has a really good selection of food and wine if you need to pick something up.

We have been going to Booths cafe for years, sometimes several times in a week. It has vastly improved over the years. Service used to be very slow but waiting times are not too bad now. There is plenty of choice and food is well cooked and well presented. The staff are really lovely; nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always polite, friendly and helpful. We would prefer breakfast to be served all day, but that's a minor gripe. We have been for breakfast, lunch, coffee and snacks and never been disappointed. The fruit scones are the best I've tasted. Check out the jacket potato with salmon and creme fraiche. Delicious. Pick up a Booths card and you get a free hot drink!

Went for a morning coffee and snacks; if I had been hungrier the full English breakfast looked very good value. Nice setting, free papers. Get a loyalty card and receive free coffee when you buy food .

Been visiting Booths Cafe for years and there has always been lots of choice including their lovely all day vegetarian breakfast. Visited last week and was disappointed by the very limited Menu for vegetarians. The food was still good but distinct lack of choice. Pleasant staff and quick service.

Visited the Booths Cafe today. Such pleasent staff, very friendly with a personal service and the food was good too.We had a wonder around the store afterwards. The fruit and veg looked spotless contrary to what an earlier poster submitted. Credit to the staff working on the department. We couldn't help but buy some locally grown tomatoes and asparagus we'd normally expect to be imported. As a Booths card holder we made use of the new coffee machine and we collected a free newspaper. All credit to Booths and all their staff who do such a wonderful job!

We were looking forward to a traditional Booth’s breakfast in Ilkley. It came without black pudding and toast. Standards have certainly dropped. How can it be a traditional breakfast without black pudding? Booths in the past set the standards for supermarket breakfasts in quality and contents. At times and in Booths other stores traditional breakfasts showcased quality items. Booths breakfasts in the past could always be relied on. I no longer feel this is the case.On our regulars trips via Ilkley we may have to find a new venue for breakfast.

The fruit and vegetables section has gone downhill dramatically since the departure of the nice young man who was the manager. Since he left the quality has gone down and the displays are not on a par with the creativity that he brought to Booths Ilkley.Shame on you Booths for threatening with redundancies. You are meant to retain the good staff, im baffled as to why you let him go.

We always stop here for breakfast on our way to and from the Sales holiday. The full English Breakfast was yummy but we didn't get offered toast on the return visit. The staff were polite and friendly and the service good. every time we cut the food on our plates there was a screeching sound as the plates were very scratched and this was outputting. Please get some new plates, Booths at Ilkley. The toilets were clean but the door catches were very loose and the paintwork chipped. Booths need to refurbish these facilities.

Booths is a supermarket that stocks better quality food than the bigger chains. I put it on a par with M&S but with more of a deli feel. It is no surprise that the food served in the cafe is high quality too. I rate it as excellent due to quality and value - for - money. It is also a light and airy cafe, very clean with a great selection of hot and cold food. Children are also welcome and well catered for. I will call in any time, not just when shopping.

This cafe is lovely and you don't even feel you are in a Supermarket. It's very reasonable and the service is excellent. You can have anything from a snack to a full meal. It's always popular.

Why do I say that... because they use only the best quality products - products sold by Booths themselves...Prices though are reasonable with soup at £3.50 with lovely artisan bread and sandwiches from just over £2. Hot drinks are freetrade too... I enjoyed it... and as Arny said we'll be back!

Got my drink and sat down at Table 34. Went to toilet and dei k and a takeaway had been taken off my table. Told the bar staff who said they checked on CCTV but couldn't see anything going missing. AVOID and beware of leaving anything unattended if going into this place.
