Visited for a friend's birthday, restaurant clean and tidy. Food and Drink Found it very expensive for the quality of food and drink. The beer was weak, I had Scampi, Chips and Mushy Peas. The Scampi was under cooked looked anemic, Chips were bland oven chips, very little taste and the ppeas were so thick you could stand your knife in them. Coffee although it was supposed to be freshly made was only luke warm. Parking For anyone with walking difficulties it is a fair distance from the car park to the entrance to the restaurant so some people could have problems

I visited on Mother's Day and found the food to be just okay, but the service was disappointing and the prices were very high. The restaurant had two sittings, which made us feel rushed so they could accommodate the second group. It’s unfortunate to see a family-run business decline like this, especially after their food hygiene rating recently dropped from 5 to 1.

I ordered a lasagne and chips … had to chase up 45 minutes later as I think they had forgotten it , when it came it looked and tasted disgusting, a precooked and over microwaved meal , had better at Aldi for £3 … won’t eat here again..

A party of 22 dined here today for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Definitely won't be back. Over half of the party's orders didn't go through, although we didn't know this until we enquired. By this point everybody else had started, if not finished, their food. The member of staff dealing with this was professional and efficient. However the food (which was then coming out for the second time) didn't come out in order. My daughter was served last, despite her food being a very mediocre pizza. Then there was a long wait for puddings with wait staff replying 'someone will bring it out' when enquiries were made. Very disappointed as the whole party had travelled quite some distance for the meal under the recommendation of others. Almost 2 hours between the first and last food coming out. Really not good enough.

Quite a let down today, carvery was cold, beef was tough too. The only hot item we're the roast potatoes even the gravy was only 'warm'. Usually it's a nice Sunday lunch but judging by the amount of other people complaining obviously something was wrong today. At £33 for 2 carveries you would expect hot food.....maybe someone forgot to fill the bain marie or switch it on 🤷♀️.

My daughters both enjoyed their food, although one was slightly over peppered but still nice. I had a burger which was nice until I got half way through and the second half was burnt and tasted so. I didn't complain as the chips were good and I had eaten half the burger. I would have expected better for how much it cost. The staff are friendly enough but there feels as though there is something missing. I didn't particularly feel comfortable in my interactions with them. A slight air of arrogance I think. The place is nice and if you have children, the play area is a bonus but I don't think we will return. Also walking on a narrow road with no path to get to the restaurant from the car park felt a bit unsafe.

We have used the Burntwood Bar restaurants for years as well as the gym and wedding facilities and have never been disappointed in the quality of food and service. Having decided to meet a friend on valentines night due to our other halves been at work, I was very disappointed to find that my husband who had driven from Wales to surprise me for dinner for valentines day was rudely told 'you're not coming in dressed like that' and sent on his way. He had a pair of hi viz tracksuit bottoms on and a regular jumper and trainers as he'd just come straight from his site. Granted, probably not the most coordinated look but he was clean and tidy and certainly didn't warrant such a rude reception by the waiter receiving guests at the door. it was 5.30pm and empty when we arrived so there was less that 5 people in the restaurant. And nowhere does it state there's a dress code. This is our local regular haunt but after this regrettably my husband wont come back again after been spoken to like he was.

We came here for our works Christmas night out on 2nd December and the food and service were appalling. We had pre ordered our food and at 7.30 a lady came to check what we had ordered as somethings on dessert list had changed. All confirmed and off she went. A hour later while other tables were been served coffee we hadn’t had our starters. Our manager spoke to the manager of the restaurant who tried to say because we pre ordered we were the last to be served as we didn’t need to pre order. He was very rude and obnoxious with no apology. Food was not upto the usual Burntwood standards and neither were the staff. This place will not be on our list for our next work gathering

We booked a Sunday dinner in their restaurant for 2pm today 3rd December. We arrived on time, got our drinks and sat down, within minutes they were taking our order for all 3 courses. I do not like this as I might fancy a different pudding by the time I have had my starter and dinner. The starter was on the table within minutes of ordering it. As soon as I was having my last mouthful of food they were taking my plate, within 5 minutes ( no more ) they were fetching our dinner. The servers stand either side of you putting food on your plate, I had to tell them to wait as you wouldn't get anything to eat, a spoon full of potatoes, you have to tell them you want more, you feel like Oliver Twist I asked for cauliflower no cheese sauce but he only wanted to put a piece on. As soon as we had finished our plates were gone. We had to say slow it down, dont fetch the puddings yet, it was only 2.35. They were itching to fetch the pudding. We asked if they could give us 10 minutes, they asked a couple of times if we wanted it, then just fetched it. When the girl asked if everything was ok I said it was like going to McDonald's , It was like being on a conveyor belt, everything rushed. We were told it closes at 3, well dont book people in at 2pm. It was nice but I didn't go out for a 3 course meal, eat it all in less than an hour and leave. It would have been 45mins if I hadn't slowed them down, and it did cost over £60, so just over a pound a minute.

Having booked a table on line, was somewhat dismayed to find on arrival at specified/booked time a member of staff banging on the door as it was still locked?? Stood outside with staff until someone appeared. No, it was a few minutes wait, but, we”d booked the table. Not a hospitable welcome and no apology.. told our table number after booking in, no dramas. Drinks, good, but slightly more than I would expect to pay in a “pub” Lunch ordered, again premium price, no surprise as had already checked the menu on line. Sadly disappointed on quality and presentation. IMO does not warrant premium pricing for “average/frozen “ foods. No I did not complain at the time, it was adequate but not fitting the prices charged. Staff polite but inattentive, ie 3 staff at the bar , but only 1 serving? Overall, not a place I’ll hurry back to, which is a shame as relatively local and was hoping to find a decent “local”.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO THE ANGLE AT ACKWORTH ITS FAR BETTER … The food is over priced rubbish, not even nice cuts of meat. I could see daylight through the steak on the mixed grill. I’ve had better and cheaper pub grub. The staff behind the bar are so arrogant one in particular is called Steve the other is a manager, bald head guy thinks very highly of himself not helpful at all. (Must be family ) it’s not even table service and they get away with serving and charging absolute barbarick prices. There was a mix up on my kids order, my mistake I forgot to order a kids pizza because STEVE couldn’t take ALL my Order at once on the till because he would forget , yeah well I forgot a kids pizza, lets not make a song and dance about it. So after spending over £200 I was made to go and pay first even tho my dinner was in front of me and the child had been sat 10mims with no food n front of him. It was a table of 16 I couldn’t see and he was too shy to say. The next problem I had was another child wanted pizza not nuggets so once again a massive big issue and Steve said the child had already been eating it once again a massive insult No he never touched it he wanted pizza his 7 not 17 . Steve then again insisted I go to the bar and pay for another. I heard they now charge over £20 for a carvery on a Sunday 🤣🤣 you what!!!??? Anyway on my way out I said to Steve goodbye thank you I will leave you a review and he said he’s not bothered so this is for you Steve thank you. You totally ruined my night and I won’t be back again. I’d rather spend my money in Weatherspoons in a Travelodge.

This is not the reply I was expecting Appeared that there was not enough staff on. Large party of us celebrating a birthday, so had booked well in advance. Sunday carvery was ok as were the puddings but not exceptional. Spent in excess of £325 on food alone never mind the drinks. However when we asked for an empty bowl so my elderly mum (who at 87 and doesn’t have a big appetite), could share a pudding we were told this would not be possible as this was not allowed. Why?? After asking to speak to the manager if one wasn’t provided, we did eventually get one. Never been to a restaurant where you can’t share a pudding. Will be booking elsewhere for the next family birthday.

Everything else on my plate was up to scratch. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was good. My main gripe is the cost of drinks which bumped up the cost of an otherwise reasonably priced meal. I was one of a party of four for lunch on Saturday. The food was fine - generous portions and tasty food - however, my complaint is about one member of the bar staff. I ordered a small bottle of Sauvignon Blanc but when I tasted it, it was sour, tart, harsh and acidic. I am no wine snob or connoisseur but that wine did not taste at all good and I simply could not have drunk it. I politely explained this to the bar man. He offered me a bottle of Pinot Grigio, poured it and said, '£4' please. I couldn't believe he wasn't replacing the awful tasting wine free of charge. His words were, 'I can't give you a free bottle just because you don't like that one'. I again explained that it wasn't a question of my taste in wine (I have drunk many bottles of Sauvignon Blanc) but that particular wine must have something wrong with it. He was adamant that he couldn't give me a free bottle, so I went without and presumably he had to waste the glass he had poured for me. What happened to customer service and goodwill? For the sake of a few pounds, he could have gained my thanks and a return visit. Now, I won't come back again.

We called ahead to try and book a table as there was 32 of us coming from a christening. We were told that they would not reserve any resulting us sitting here, there and everywhere. We all got our meals at different times, my partner was still waiting for his starter when our main came. We also waited a long time for our table to be cleared. We came with 9 children, 2 of which were allowed to order off the children’s menu but was told they were not allowed to play in woodys play den, when asked if they could play outside we were told that they would not be allowed. I find this really bad service, we now have 2 children that are upset as they cannot join in!

First of all, I have worked at Burntwood and I am shocked today by my experience! We were eating together to celebrate a Christening and Birthday. There were 32 of us in total! So a lot of money through the tills! We were unable to book tables so we could eat together! The service was lacking and slow, food was cold and sent back, starters were missed and orders did not come together! On top of that, my 10 year old son, who has always been tall for his age got asked to leave the Woody’s Play Den as he is too tall for insurance purposes! Now this angered me more as we attended Burntwood to celebrate his birthday in September of this year and he was allowed in then!!! The Woody’s menus state up to 12 years for the children’s meal yet my son was not allowed to be a child and play at 10 years and 2 months!!!! And it got worse, I tried to cool the situation by saying he could play on the outside play area but the door was locked! When I asked a member of staff she said it was due to it being wet from the rain last night but wasn’t willing to check to see if it was dry enough to play on at 1:30pm after the rain had stopped early in the morning!

As a party of 3, we wanted to order and pay separately, but were told categorically that if we did, then the meals would be served at very different times. There was no flexibility or explanation for this. Can these people not communicate with the 'chef'????

So when my husband came back from the bar with the worlds smallest large glass of wine I decided to blame him and not your barmaids lack of care, intelligence and education. I mean .. how had we got through the last 4 years and made it down the aisle and he still doesn't know what a large glass of wine looks like ? However, I would suggest you expand your barmaids knowledge on measures as some women have this crazy idea that it takes two to tango, and would have given the hubby and the barmaid a gobfull on a Friday night after a long hard weeks graft. Starter was lush .. fishcakes so tasty, and would return simply for these! Food came out so fast it was great service. Nice to have a fishcake that tastes like fish and not just mash! Well done :-) Main.. probably would have been lovely if I'd had chance to eat it whilst it was warm, but instead I spent 10-15 minutes trying to get someone's attention after having my meal thrown down on the table to get me some cutlery. Menu needs some fine tuning .. harrisa is North African and tzatziki is Greek ? Not sure how them two go together .... All in all, lovely atmosphere, great vibe, friendly enough staff but needs smartening up. 2 years ago this place was so much better and had so much more attention to detail and caring and diligent staff.

Three adults, and two 2 year olds, visited Burntwood Court Bar for lunch on Monday. The children spent quite a bit of time in the soft play area (Woody's Adventure Play - £3 each child). The area for the under 5s is quite small and basic, and wouldn't have kept them occupied for very long, but there were only a couple of similar age children in the play area, so we supervised them in the older children's area, which is much, much bigger, and they loved the 'adventure'. It wouldn't have been wise to allow them into this area if it had been busier, with older children running round. The bar meals we had to follow were pretty good - nothing special, but we thought we're, overall, pretty fair value. The ham in the cobs was thick cut, and good quality. The hot bar meals (lasagne and filled baked potato) were also fine. The staff were friendly and efficient. I'm pretty sure we'll be going back again when we visit Grimethorpe - the mix of food and soft play works for us.

Iv been here once before for food and it's worse than ever.. plastic food, you can tell it's not fresh the veg is 110% frozen as are the chips.. cost us for a family of 4 £75 with drinks and that included the play area.. rip off we eat out a lot and I'd say it was worth £30 tops.. rubbish service and to make it worse we had to fight off the flies as we eat our dinner.. horrible experience I'd rather throw my money down the loo than visit here again..

Absolutely ridiculous. No other word for it.What establishment in 2017 doesn't let you split your bill half and half so that 2 different people can pay on 2 different cards?Result of this is that food comes out separately and by time you are half way through your food other persons is only just arriving.Absolute nightmare when your In a group of 4+Reluctant to go again.Other thing that annoyed me too is that one week I visit and ask for a extra burger on my burger.. get charged £2, which is fine.Few weeks later... "oh no we can't do that.... in fact actually we can but it's £4"Absolute nonsense and no consistency.I bet jack doesn't know what's going on, bloke isn't daft enough!

First off no path from the carpark to the restaurant, it's obvious if you go but very wrong! Been a few times it's local but it's very lacking in home made food, mainly just bought in stuff that's had an attempt to make it look better with than it is. Shame as the place deserves better! This was the worst visit by a long way. The pate starter was missing it's advertised dressing and very uninspiring. Then we get to the main, my mother had ordered a medium well fillet it cam out pink with blood all over the plate! We'd all nearly finished before they brought the steak back out and didn't even get an apology!! Worst of It was she had the sauce with it and the kitchen had rinsed off the bloody steak under the kitchen tap and tried to burn it enough not to notice! Idiots must think the customers are daft! Had no discount for the farce, had no apologies and certainly won't recommend! On reflection I would say they have a very high staff turnover probably due to poor wagers and attitude from above, this was clear when the server had to go and ask if he could take the steak back!! You see this at so many places but it's not selling its self as a plastic pub! Why can't they be as good Monday to Saturday as they are on Sunday lunch? Let's hope they improved, could be so much better.

On arival...was given wrong table...we had booked 7 adults and two babies ...no room for Highchairs after being moved to anouther table ..two baby chairs were brought..one with safety straps one without. After pointing this out to manager...he sarcastically replied "They are all like that"...so one child strapped in one not...We were asked by same member of staff to give our orders in..which we did..I asked what cut of Beef was used for the sunday lunch...He said "Dunno? side?"...i then asked if i could have my beef sliced thinly ,as i have a medical problems with my throat swallowing large peices of meat ..he rolled his eyes and said. .its pre cut!!When our food arived it was piping hot and delicious, except the Beef silverside no taste and tough ..yorkshire puds over cooked so hard and too crunchy...everything else delicious ..served by excellent staff silver service...staff to be proud of...except for restaurant manager needs PR course, rude to offensive standard..sarcastic comments through out our meal.

It's nice if you just want somewhere to go for a more luxurious pub meal. The interior design and menu design is classy and the food is really good. Always comes warm and well presented, it's also not too expensive. You order your food at the bar and then it is brought to you. I always used to come here with my grandma and grandad so I've got lots of good memories here.

This establishment offers the full works. It's a nice place to go for just a drink, to eat out, to take the family or if you need to sit down and have a business meeting! For the families visiting rest assure there is plenty to keep the kids occupied with a massive indoor soft play area and for those summer evenings there is a nice size outside play area. It has a variety of areas to accommodate for parents with kids but also areas where you can sit with no interruptions from kids. The food is always good, especially the steak with cheese sauce!! Never had a bad meal here and drinks are fairly priced too.Only down fall I have found is that when the volume of customers increase they never seem to have enough bar staff on... I hate waiting so for this they have to lose a star. All in all I would most definitely recommend and will most certainly be returning in the future!!

Went out for a meal as a family on a Saturday tea time. Good choice of food but unfortunately it took a long time to arrive and the restaurant wasn't very busy. The food was ok. The reason I am writing this review is regarding hygiene issues. We witnessed one of the staff putting cutlery away into a drawer, she dropped about six items on the floor , picked them up and put them into the drawer. This was a mature member of staff not a young student. Won't be returning.

Love being able to order/pay online...food's great too! Went tonight for fish & chips for me, a chip butty with curry sauce for my wife and a couple of pickled eggs for me...an old Southern habit! It was all excellent. Tonight's visit was for a large cod (huge) small chips and a pickled egg! Delicious!

It's a Spoons. Does exactly what it says on the tin. We had the all day brunch (under a fiver with unlimited refills of coffee - cheaper than doing it yourself at home). We also had the ramen noodles and it was delicious. (But of a gamble but paid off, well done). Can't wait to come back next time we are in Barnsley.
