Great local place for affordable drinks and food

Very nice place and extremely affordable prices. I was there night before and had few drinks and next morning we tried the brunch offer. Tasty food and unlimited hot drinks included in the price. Definitely worth to visit and grab some drinks or even some quick food. Only minus for me was they are not playing music (as i understood it is the same in all "Wetherspoon's" in the country. I don't know the real purpose for this, but for sure with music would be "next level" place:)

Staff were incredibly rude!!!!!!! Asked for ID, gave it then STILL took a full class of blue lagoon away. Absolutely appalled with the service provided and luckily had a man to stick up for us!

Excellent craft beers on a Wednesday

Didn't have any food, not enough staff to serve drinks behind the bar on a Saturday afternoon, I had to wait at least 10 to 15 minutes to get a drink. Prices ok, but they definitely need more staff.

For people that are not British BE AWARE. I am going pretty often to this pub, and today Saturday 22 Feb. this security guy, older guy, short hair with 1 earing was clearly racial profiling us. It was me, my brother and his gf. He all of a sudden stopped us from going in because he said my brother's gf needs to show ID (she is 33, and it's very obvious ), and other people entering right in front of us with much younger people they never say nothing. She didn't have ID on her so we complied despite everything, had to go home and take her passport with us, we went back and after we showed him he checked that passport like for 2 minutes and i just said this " ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? " And that's all it needed for this "man" to get so offended and asked us to leave. He started arguing and keep saying we have to leave because I have an attitude, Me not him, not him that he clearly racial profiling us from the start . Very disgusting behaviour, and i can't believe i experienced this in UK in 2025 I really liked this pub before, but this security guy is a complete racist, and i am really shocked that the pub sided with him, and i will not let this slide so easily because this can't really happen in UK. I asked what is his name and of course he refused to give it to me. I will make complaints to citizens advise bureau, ERHC, and Acas, just to make sure others don't experience the rasism of this security guy as well. Will contact the security company he is employed as well and and see if they accepting this kind of behaviour from their staff I am very disappointed about this and will not let this go away like that.

I went at 8:00 a Old Guy, with earring in 1 war with glasses, he says i can't go inside without ID, but others went inside without ID, British People . I went home i took it and show it and still didn't want to let Me , My Boyfriend and His Brother inside! That's rasist ! No one didn't fight with him and say anything just :"Are you happy now?" He went very angry and started an argument. Lol . And kick us out. He waited for this , it's true he didn't like it Foreigners.

Absolutely disgusting! Kelsey? Our waitress was nothing but abrupt and arrogant, it slammed the food down on the table and bounced off stomping and muttering, when asked for a extra knife it grimaced, said yes and then never bothered even though it continued to serve food to other around us,snigering at us. I think that it need to find another vocation as it's VILE temperament is not suited to front of house, maybe it could stand in the kitchen and glare at the dirty plates,so that normal decent people can enjoy the place. What a utterly vile creature.

Why i bother going to witherspoon for food i don't know. It's always crap. Dross on plate, no matter what you order. Beer selection is very good though.

Stopped in to work for a few hours between appointments. What a rare find! I appreciate a Spoons for the value, but this one should be loved on it's own merits. Spotlessly clean, the small veggie breakfast was delicious, fast service, not a sticky table to be found. Honestly, I was struck by how well used it was, not a hint of the stereotypical Spoons morning drinkers, this was filled for the morning and lunch. I settled in and got my work done in comfort, served at the table by lovely staff who really went out of their way to look after people. I will be returning on my next trip to Barnsley. This Spoons is not only the best I've ever seen, but, I think it's up there in the top 10 of any pub I've ever visited.

Had breakfast then after work pints and Korean fried chicken and i gotta say i left full and satisfied definitely recommend this spot good food cheap drinks great way to unwind after work ☺️

Standard Spoons. The breakfast was cold on this occasion although the staff offered to reheat it. Usually spot on so I will give it a 5.

This is one of the better spoons around plus on a week end it's a great place to have a piss up.

Had fish and chips mushy peas and would have given five stars but the peas were only luke warm,, but cracking fish and chips.

Food lovely, staff really friendly. Unfortunately carpets need a clean as smell of gone off spilt beer as you walk in, tables not getting cleaned regularly. The hot drinks station isn't being looked after, mess all over, no tea bags, no sugar. I understand that this is a busy town centre location but the basics are not being maintained to usually Wetherspoon standards.

It's a Weatherpoon pub, don't expect the Ritz, it's a good place always clean and tidy and staff are attentive

Harley is the best server, if shes not serving me i tend to walk out

Excellent place, as are all wetherspoons, loses a star for atmosphere because they have got rid of the dj, and dance floor??????????. WHY??????? it's killed the atmosphere, yes they still play music, but not as good as a actual dj and dance floor.

Very good cheap alcohol prices. Nice pub. Very big.

A good place to catch up with friends

A great pub restaurant serving very reasonably priced food the staff were very friendly & service was excellent, it's never going to win a Michelin star but it's decent food at a reasonable price, the place comes alive on weekend nights especially Saturdays it's a great venue for couples or groups to enjoy.

Well gone in here for breakfast, one got bean allergy and one gluten free ordered at the bar, no problem just swap items for what you can eat so made it so easy thankyou 100% recommend

Typical Town Centre Wetherspoons. A magnet for drunks

It's a Spoons. Does exactly what it says on the tin. We had the all day brunch (under a fiver with unlimited refills of coffee - cheaper than doing it yourself at home). We also had the ramen noodles and it was delicious. (But of a gamble but paid off, well done). Can't wait to come back next time we are in Barnsley.

Local and favourite pub, service always prompt and lovely atmosphere. Lana served me on my last visit, she was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the drinks.

I called in quite recently to have a meal and catch up with a friend. We were greeted by a lovely young lady called Lana behind the bar, she was friendly , helpful and very informative. Would highly recommend a visit.

Staff are nice and happy to deal with any problems you may have buy a coffee get free refills for the of the time your there food is great for the price. Kid friendly fair priced for food and drinks

Quite possibly our best Wetherspoons experience ever! Never had better service anywhere in the world.

Been in twice this week for a meal to Joseph Bramah, Wetherspoons in Barnsley. Both times items were left off the ordered meals. On Wednesday the fried egg was missing from the ordered large mixed grill meal & Friday the extra sausage ordered with the large breakfast was missing. It’s not the first time items have been missing from the specified food order. It’s a very friendly place & the staff are always apologetic for the error & the missing food item is delivered very quickly. Obviously the staff in the kitchen are at fault.

This time, I was pleasantly surprised that I could have a free top-up of coffee while I waited for my friend. However, only one of the coffee machines was working and only offered tea, hot chocolate, or milk. Better luck next time.

Nice place but can't get a seat for all collage students.

We had ramen, jacket potato, hamburger, and margherita pizza. In my opinion, it’s not a place to go for food. The pizza was terrible, the ramen had no flavor, and the jacket potato was really bad. It’s a place you would enjoy more if you go just to have drinks.

Poor experience at breakfast. Overcharged, order came wrong and drinks machines either out of order or not delivering drinks properly. We travel around using Wetherspoons regularly and have found this branch to be the worst yet.

A tad expensive but your paying for the mixology really.

I had a meeting with some acquaintances today, we were sat outside where a complete "Barnsley" drunk approached us, verbally abused us. Even bystanders tried to help but not the Joseph Employees... Good job, You had 6 people leave your premises for good, not nice doing business with you. "Proper Brish Experience".

Horrific toilets some of the worst I encountered during lunch time, no way would I eat here!!

Probably best spoons I've been in. Don't really like spoons but they serve a purpose when you don't know where you are and need a refreshment.

Left review in July. Things no better. Stayed downstairs this time in case still cold upstairs. Not really warm downstairs but passable. Ordered at the bar. 2 all day brunch 2 drinks. Young girl brought food out.....2 ham egg and chips! Told her I ordered 2 brunches. Took it away to the bar, came back with it and said you ordered this. No I didn't. Said again ordered 2 brunch. Took it away. Came back with receipt from bar saying ham egg and chips x2. Obviously the bar staff member hit the wrong button as I didn't order that. Said would sort it out though. Food came again as a brunch but obviously with same eggs and chips as they were both freezing 🥶. Couldn't be ar...d complaining again. One of the worst meals I have ever had in wetherspoons. Young girl came after and said were meals OK? Said no it was freezing! No comment no sorry. Didn't go and tell anybody Also very slow at clearing tables. Not once did i see a table cleaned. Last time we will visit there. Best advice close this one and reopen The Silkstone. Was FAR better there

Don't leave your drink unattended while you go to toilet..it was picked up bay staff and emptied. I did ask but they weren't bothered. Was 2 full drinks. Really wasn't happy

Honestly a pretty great Spoons. Love the atmosphere and don't mind the other customers as they often just keep themselves to themselves and staff are always on-hand to sort any issues out quickly.

I like this place it's a pub and has good honest priced food on Their menu. And it's cooked well . So I like it . And it's local 👌

Food always came out very quick and was cooked well. Great selection of drinks, Friendly service.

Food is what you expect from Witherspoons. Value for what you pay. A waiter dropped two slices of toast outside the kitchen and despite numerous people coming in and out of the kitchen nobody could be arsed to pick it up. After 20 minutes I picked it up as fed up of staff walking over it! Not the best advertisement for Witherspoons.

A nice spoons . Lovely cheap breakfast with fast friendly service . I came over from Huddersfield and called in for a couple of pints and some breakfast . Wasn't disappointed at all 👍

Horrible rough pub. The food both times were not edible, stone cold, too bad to even throw in the bin.

Been a regular at this place for years, however tried the advertised special large cardboard display on the bar as a spicy chicken concoction. Table 124 uper level as dated of today This is a combo of left overs on main menu of chips chicken pieces , chicken strips chilli's in a spicy sauce chucked in together .came out Luke warm , sent it back came out again totally inedible. Complained to bar staff who.passed me and my friend to Josh team leader Expressed concerns he was jot willing to hear our complaint so much so my friend was banned from buying a drink from the bar upstairs .Went downstairs spoke to a member if staff who has known us as customers for tears by this time I wa in tears due to the treatment I had received prior to this .After further discussion my friend and I were asked to.leave my friends drink was taken fro m her .we had 3 glasses of wine not drunk and we both will be 70 it's old this month Disgusting customer service and treatment of elderly female customers .

Tried the limited edition sticky Korean fried chicken bowl...was lovely would recommend and will be having again...

Sorry to say this but the place was horrible. The seats were dirty, the tables sticky and I spear you details about the state of the toilets! Shame!

Went twice in the same day no issues but came back later on for a third time and when the bouncers rotated, got denied entry because I was wearing shorts (late 20s and to be fair I look more like a nerd with glasses more than a troublemaking chav)... bear in mind 25C summer heat, I was not going to go home and come back with jeans... food and drinks are spot on just a shame the bouncers don't have any common sense with dress code when the weather is warm. I could have snuck in through the back entrance but decided to move on. So if you're wearing shorts in the summer, be aware you might not get in. 5/5 food 1/5 bouncers so overall 3/5
