Quite possibly the best chip shop in Barnsley. They use dripping to fry, it tastes fantastic, the portions are huge, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. ★★★★★

First time trying this chippy (14-8-24), and it has to be one of the best fish and chip shops in the area. Freshly fried to order, and lovely and crisp. 10/10, definitely a new regular for me.

The food was not up to the normal standard due to equipment failure.

Just eat never delivered our meal. I rang them 1½ hours after it should have been delivered. Apparently the shop doesnt have anything to do with the drivers and dont know where the order is going to. The bloke i spoke to was very apologetic and offered to cook more food for us but we had to pick it up ourselves. Hubby went and picked the order up. "We shouldve done that in the first place". Anyway well done to "CATCH" fish shop at Monk Bretton for sorting us out. We'll see what 'just eat' have to say when it gets sorted.

White soggy chips,oily fish batter,not crispy,it's just my opinion,got a after taste, maybe the oil they use, Sorry not for me

Just been in today, got to say the food is fantastic, could manage to eat it all though way filling, and I love how your fork is wrapped in a sealed packet so no ones grubby hands can contaminate it. Not from barnsley but will come here again when I'm passing.

I just had some Jumbo Cod with chips, I was really surprised at how tasty was, especially the fish.

Great fish and chips good portion size and value for money, scraps were a great addition 👍.

Had Fish n Chips today and ate them inside. Wow! The best I have eaten!! And I have had some nice ones from a couple of other places around Barnsley.. But these are outstanding! Lovely chips.. no scrappy ones at all! And the fish was perfect!! Batter, light and crispy. Just the very best!

Ordered via just eat Paid £8 for a scampi meal n got 4 tiny pieces of scampi in most chippy's thats what you get in a kids meal for a lot less Other than that the food tasted really nice n the Irish curry was amazing But unfortunately will be my first and last order Even in the best chippy ever £8 for basically chips n sauce is over priced

Absolutely gutted that I've left it so long to visit Catch. The taste of the chips and the batter is heavenly. The quality of the cod is excellent. One of the best in Yorkshire by far. I will be back again soon.

Great food ! perfect chips not greasy

Very very over priced, small portions and called ‘large’. My gluten free chips were so anaemic they was pure white! Only just cooked and they looked so bad i refused to even eat them, took them back for a refund. The other chips (not specifically gluten free) looked fine. But the others had belly ache and had a upset tummy afterwards. Deffo not going here again. Il stick with keelings, very good prices (half the price then at this place) and amazing food there. Updated to add comment, i didnt go to the 5 star chippy yesterday, and i deffo didnt even attempt to eat one chip from yours, i stated the others eat your chips and had belly troubles,not myself. Also the chipshop i usually go to was shut yesterday and thats why i originally came to your shop so please dont try to tarnish someones reputation. You said two different reasonings for the chips being extremely white (just cooked) new oil and also the potatoes you use, if thats so why do the none gluten free chips look fine? And Also theres no excuse for them literally being just cooked, beef dripping does not make them look that way. They was simply not cooked long enough. The issue here wasnt any possible cross contamination or gluten issue because i never ate them so i wouldnt and couldnt comment on that, it was the absolute state the chips were and i refuse to put anything in my body that was like that. Considering the reviews its not only myself that has the issues with your food.

Gone downhill, just been up again and a large chips was a seriously small portion and im not a big eater so thats bad, no scraps, no salt and vinegar when asked for twice. Such a shame I used to go here all the time.

Had fish and chips tonight. Got to say, the fish was beautiful, very white in colour, texture meaty so you can tell it hasn't been frozen and mushy. Very impressed batter was nice and crispy too. Price wise not over priced good quality for a good price. Definitely recommend.

My wife asked for fish with curry on top fish and chips and a fish we got fish with curry no problem fish on its own no problem but we got curry on my wife's fish and chips she can't stand curry when we got home the fish and chips went straight in the bin not blown away with the batter poor for me will not return.

Always get one of their sausage specials every Wednesday and it's always very tasty and at £4.95 great value.

It's the second time iv been, the first time I thought it wasn't great but I decided to try again and this time I won't be returning for 3rf time lucky, the chips were rubbish, must have been there a while and were scraggy, a handful of them were hollow shells and inedible. I wouldn't bother if I were you

Still a very Nice chippy & clean. but! sorry not as good as when it was Woody's place. Portions was smaller and hardly any spicy curry sauce to what I used to get. But we will still travel there for our chippy tea Fridays before doing the Asda shop. 5️⃣🌟

Don't bother ringing up for orders because they DON'T answer the phone when the owners not around. Tried 17 times today so decided not to bother with them and to the owner......sort your staff out pal, your losing customers.

my issue, I visited today (6th August 2019) at 4.45pm. Politely asked if they still offered gluten free? (my 4 year old daughter has ceoliac disease so this was a BIG treat for her) the lady behind the till replied abruptly " we ask for 45mins notice and the electricity is going off in a minute. It states nowhere on the website ( that boasts about ppl coming from Skegness about this) i now have a very disappointed 4 year old and I'm furious at her abrupt rude behaviour! The attitude I received was terrible, now we used to visit here once per week, for the last 10 years, I'm appalled and shocked that because she couldn't be bothered she put up so many obstacles. I've told family about this and will not go here again. Very disappointing to have a full page on their website boasting about catering for an auto immune disease ( it's not just a fad) when really it's all just to get sales as she could not be bothered to offer the amazing service they claim to have!!! shame on you and the way you treated me!

This is on my journey home from work and I occasionally pop in on my way home when I can't be bothered cooking tea. I always have the same - chip butty and mushy peas. the chips are always fresh and the peas are proper mushy peas. Good quick service too.
