Dinner with family in the Turkish (very similar to Greek BTW) restaurant in centre of Barnsley in a converted former pub. Nice bright decor and good amount of space between tables. Good range of choices on menu, I had the lamb shank which was delicious; but sister had Vegetarian Moussaka which was rather runny. Was Saturday night and quite busy, we'd booked though.

Our first visit to this restaurant, and it won't be our last. We went after a recommendation from a friend, and were not disappointed. The service was professional and friendly, food absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, and they have a great selection of drinks, especially gin. I ate the salmon kebab with roast veg and rice, and my husband had moussaka with rice and bread. Both were incredibly well cooked and tasty.

Really great restaurant, I loved the décor and vibe, service was brilliant. But the highlight is absolutely the food, really magnificent Turkish cuisine made with high quality ingredients.

We were there early 5pm, so not many eating, it did get busy towards 6pm and after. Service was attentive but not over the top, staff helpful and friendly. Food was excellent, we had 2 course deal, there was enough choice and it was really tasty and plentiful. Will definitely return.

The food was ok,nothing special. Wasn't very busy, but maybe that was due to the time we went.

Went for lunch on Saturday (during the Barnsley Live event). Had the House Special - essentially a mixed platter for two - which was lovely, also quite spectacular to see so much food arrive at the table!! Tons of meat, rice, flatbread, tzatziki and salad. Lots of my favourite things!!

We visited The Lemon Tree as a party of 25 for a memorial meal for my mum. What could have been a very sombre occasion turned out to be a very good meal. The staff were there to help with anything, responded to emails within the hour. We pre ordered a week before and everything was ready for us as soon as we arrived. All staff very pleasant and helped to ensure a sad occasion was actually a happy meal. Would highly recommended visiting

Starter was very disappointing. The vine leaves were hard and cold like they weren't defrosted enough. When I sent them back I was told they were made fresh every day ???. The main course(moussaka)was very nice and piping hot.

We have been here about Half a dozen times now and food is spot on every time.

Great choice with the menu. Beautiful food & large portions, we will definitely be back.

Diabolical is the only word I can use to describe this experience. Food was bland, and came out in minutes so not fresh at all! Will lot be going back and don’t recommend!

I had the vegetarian moussaka, which was gorgeous. My partner had the beef one. She's been before as says it's always good here. The service was warm and friendly too.

Been served today by Muna, Ildiko and Erdal and they made us feel so welcome and accommodated us in every way they could, the food was amazing and service time was very fast best place to eat in Barnsley would highly recommend

Food is absolutely excellent! Very nice staff. Food was served very quickly. Service could have been a little better but it seemed there were only 2 people working so were running around trying to sort other people out.

Great little place in heart of Barnsley. Mezze platter was excellent, fresh, varied. The kebab dishes looked a little light on meat content (chicken, lamb pieces) for the price - but we felt full at end anyway. Worth a second visit. Staff friendly and attentive.

Great food friendly staff, great night all in all

Lovely food, quick service too. We hadn't booked and it was clearly a busy Wednesday evening but they found us a table. Would have been 5* had, at the end of our meal, the waiter asked if we wanted dessert or another drink or coffee or the Bill. We sat for a while to see if they would return to the table but no one came, we decided to go to the bar to ask for the bill. The other niggle is the lack of an itemized bill, I was just told how much it was but I was surprised when it seemed a little higher than I had calculated. I don't mind paying for good food and it is good there's no doubting that. When I got home I checked the menu online and I was over charged by £6. No proof as no bill. I know I should have questioned it at the time of paying so it's on me, perhaps there's a service charge I wasn't aware of but if it's a regular practice then the management should be made aware.

Went on a work Christmas party. Wonderful hosts, amazing food, reasonable prices. Definitely going back

After a little mix up with the tables we were seated and meals arriving swiftly (After pre ordering meals) The food was amazing and staff were friendly and efficient. First time ever being out in Barnsley and booked this restaurant because it was close to the Civic Hall, where 12 of us had booked tickets for a show there. Our group came from far and wide, Manchester, Hull, Germany, and Leeds, so we decided to all meet up beforehand and chose this restaurant without previous experience of it. To say the least, we were all pleasantly surprised! We had a warm greeting from the owner on arrival and the building itself is lovely inside, I expect it was once a bank or some other important building but nicely decorated and in good condition. We were shown to our table, which was in a good location, plenty of space to move around. Not an easy thing to achieve for a table of 12. The staff were all pleasant, attentive and professional and everyone in our group were really well looked after. The menu was as interesting as it was varied and while our group had a very wide range of ages and tastes, everyone found something they found appetising and everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they chose to order. Even my father, who is in his 80's and not the most adventurous of eaters, came to me after and said that his food was gorgeous and the coffee at the end of the meal was perhaps the best one he had ever had! Quite an accolade in itself coming from my dad! But everyone had a thoroughly great time at the Lemon Tree and if we ever get chance to eat there again, we most definitely will do so. Huge thanks to all the staff who made our evening really special. X

Came here for my birthday and it was the best choice I’ve ever made. The food and staff were equally lovely; my family adored the quality and portion sizes. They made my birthday feel so special by playing music for me and bringing my cake out. Overall one of the best places I’ve been for my birthday yet. I truly recommend this place for anyone wanting to celebrate their special day or if they just want some amazing quality food.

Overrall the meal was good, good portion sizes, I had a lamb shish kebab, the lamb wasn't the best I've had as it was a little chewy and wasn't so flavourful but I would still likely return and try something else on the menu. Service and atmosphere was lovely.

We have eaten here several times and have had great food and customer experience every time. Mixed kebabs and moussaka have been really good and always nicely proportioned meals. Deffo a good restaurant for Turkish food in Barnsley.

Nice little Turkish with a great atmosphere. Not trying to be too over the top, but still remains pleasant to the eye. The meat quality is superb, Sucuk was nice and beefy. The Chicken and Lamb Shish was well seasoned and tender with not even a bite of toughness. Plated well to allow the chips to soak up the juices of the kebab. Great for a nice meal that doesn't cost too much.

Absolutely outstanding. It's not often that I leave a restaurant and really feel like I've had beautiful food and an amazing service. The staff members go above and beyond. You are rarely with an empty plate infront of you, the service is impeccable. We had fresh, beautifully seasoned food that exceeded my expectations for a little restaurant in Barnsley. In town and popped in for some lunch. The lunch menu looked good value. I had 2 course, hone made soup and then a steak with veg and home made chips. It was excellent. Highly recommended.

A party of over 20 of us all enjoyed a Saturday afternoon meal at the Lemon Tree,all meals came out together, so as on previous occasions no complaints, just a good time had by all.

This is a little diamond of a restaurant. Been 2s and got chearful,polite, helpful service. The food was plentiful and delicious. And affordable. In today's economic disaster you get the cheep chips microwave eatery's. Or anything above costing a fortune. This is good tasty home cooked food at a affordable price . A definite recommend !

Had an excellent meal here, celebrating a niece's 30th birthday. Staff were approachable and the food and drinks were all very good indeed. I had the stuffed vine leaves as a starter and my wife and I shared the house special which contained a great range of Turkish/Middle Eastern meat, all cooked perfectly. Highly recommended...

This is a great place in the centre of town. The food offer is Turkish or traditional and is delicious. We had a 12 year old with us, and he thoroughly enjoyed his choice, I don't believe childrens menus are available. Steaks were cooked to perfection, just as requested. Chips tasted great. Staff are extremely friendly and obliging, brought out our birthday cake with the candles lit, and plenty of plates, so we were able to give some cake to two people we knew at another table. Definitely recommend yhis place. The set menu is also good value if you wish to have more than one course. The only thing that spoiled it a little was an extremely noisy wedding party, so we were unable to hear ourselves talking to each other

I've eaten here 3 times and have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. The staff have always been a delight. The food is always great. And the atmosphere, while occasionally lively depending on the day, is very pleasant.

Delighted to have found this gem. Service was friendly and pleasant. Lots of variety to choose from on the menu and drinks list. If you don't want Turkish food, they also offer English favourites. Would highly recommend, food is absolutely amazing. Cost is reasonable. Will definitely be back 😊

Love this place! Well situated in a central location in Barnsley Town centre. Small enough to create a warm, cozy atmosphere. Staff are friendly, welcoming and attentative. Even though busy, we didn't have to wait long for any of the courses. Always well presented and extremely tasty. Even the drinks prices weren't overly expensive. Quality restaurant, quality food, and an enjoyable experience.
