Go here nearly every weekend. Not sure why the reviews are so low…. Maybe it has changed over the past couple of years. The food is lovely and very reasonable. The staff are always very friendly. Love this place 🥰🥰. 100% would recommend.

staff friendly, food average, atmosphere TERRIBLE!!! It's so loud due to essentially being in a giant echoey room. Every tiny noise is amplified, cheap furniture constantly scraping along the hard floor, the coffee machine, cutlery rattling you have to basically shout at the person you're with to hear each other. If you didn't have a hearing problem when you arrived, you will by the time you leave.

Not visited for a while so popped in for lunch with two 6 year olds. No-one to show us in on arrival when waiting a while, so we chose our own seats. I thought the children's menu could be improved re choices to be honest, for the younger spectrum especially. Felt disappointed. The children chose a tuna sandwich (£5.70) and beans on toast (£5.50). We weren't offered a choice of bread type (White sliced on arrival). Beans on toast; one slice with a covering of beans. Tuna sandwich; thinly spread Tuna. Plain crisps, 3 crudités ( 1 cucumber/ 2 carrot) which were dry & curly and needless to say uneaten! Staff were very busy and their faces reflected this. Tables were cleaned quickly. Cutlery was brought wrapped in napkins which unfortunately were soaked in tea from the 'pot for one', noticed, and not replaced. Not my memories of here in times gone by unfortunately. Hmmm, wouldn't rush back being honest.

We have been before and the food/drinks are always good. Not very busy when we went but waited half an hour for our lunch. Staff are good and helpful . As with a lot of places these days, it needs money spending on a refit and tidying up as looks dated.

Very expensive for what it is and a rude and sullen waitress who is not a good advert for the business. Its only strength, of course, is its location. I wish there was competition because they would have to up their game.

Lunch , between us spent over £50 . Asked for a couple of hot waters charged an additional £1.20 each but couldn’t see a charge on the menu . Be upfront Lakeside. Shouldn’t just be “slipped” into a bill as a hidden charge . The Mansion doesn’t charge for hot water . Will be going there from now on .

Well, what an absolute rip-off this cafe is £28.00 for 1 jacket potato with cheese and beans, a dried ham and cheese sandwich, 1 hot chocolate and a coke. Not value for money to say the least. Inferior it was more like Fodder. The lady wiping the table with a cloth also used the same cloth to wipe the chairs. It's not exactly hygiene. Never again.

Bank holidayMonday walk in Roundhay Park so decided to have lunch in the cafe by the lake. No menu on view outside so only saw prices once seated. Ordered one bowl of soup which was served with a a small piece of bread and a Caprese panini. The panini wasn't even a proper panini roll and there was no taste of the pesto so was just bland - cost £9.50. Massively overpriced for the quality. Cakes priced at nearly £5 so gave those a miss

The main problem seems to be that they don’t have enough staff to cope with the decision to have table service only. We were actually seen to quite quickly once we got in - just two of us wanting a cup of coffee sitting outside on one of the few recent sunny days. But as we left there were 5 families in a queue to which nobody seemed to be attending, when inside was nearly empty.

Visiting Roundhay Park, we called in for coffee and snacks. The welcome was friendly and we were shown to an inside table. There was a good selection of items, although snacks catering for a dairy allergy were a little limited. Orders were taken at and served to our table. The snacks and coffee were very good and reasonably priced. A relaxing visit in an attractive location overlooking the lake. Would rate as "Good" rather than "Very Good"

We had been looking forward to visiting the Lakeside as we used for go many times a few years back. Unfortunately on this occasion and with the current staff, the customer service was beyond terrible. Customers with allergies get offered a sub-standard version. Whilst we were not bothered on paying extra, when we politely mentioned this, we were then hit with a tirade from staff on why we as customers had misunderstood, weren't listening which we actually had to request that the staff member calm down to avoid having this tirade in front of the kids. Appalling customer service which is such a shame, as were looking forward to returning..

Visited here today with a party of 8. After a torrential downpour we were all wet through including 2 small dogs. The staff were unfriendly and unaccommodating and made us feel very unwelcome. In the current climate with small businesses struggling to keep going, it was astonishing they turned away a party of 8 when the bill would have been over £100. Human and dog unfriendly cafe. Would not visit in any circumstances again. Do not recommend.

I went last week with a friend and had a lovely bacon and egg sandwich. Went with family today and had the same thing. Still nice but granary bread wasn’t as fresh. Someone else had bacon sandwich on white and said the bread was soggy. Nice bacon though. My main gripe was that the young child with us had children’s beans on toast. The beans came in a tiny ramekin, must have been a dessert spoonful of beans, and one thin slice of toast. The price was an extortionate £5!!! How can that price be justified?

Sign outside saying wait to be seated but no one showed up. Went inside and asked for a table, one was cleared for us. We were told it was table service only but after a long time sat waiting with no sign of anyone coming to take an order had to go up and ask if we could order a drink at which point we were told someone will be with us shortly. Someone came straight over and took our order and the coffee and cake didn’t take too long to arrive. Good big slices of cake, cost almost £9 for a coffee and slice of cake. Feel would benefit from more staff on maybe to help run smoother.

Always pleasant & friendly, never a poor experience. Don't understand the whingers on this site - perhaps they were expecting ultra-perfection (which you don't get anywhere!).

I always have either a bacon or a sausage sandwich and I have never had better anywhere else. The rolls are large and very well filled. They are also high quality. With an excellent latte alongside, they make a very good breakfast. There is however, a wide range of other breakfast choiced to suit all tastes. The cafe offers a children's menu and later in the day there are many salads, sandwiches, hot lunches, cakes a desserts. Prices are higher than in some other cafes but, in my opinion, the Lakeside provides good value.

When I went back to buy the same 2 drinks it was £9. My daughter questioned this when she went back to the bar and because she didn’t have a receipt they refused to believe her. She offered to show them her banking app but someone behind the bar suggested it might not have been for that purchase. Do the staff have so much mistrust? It’s very sad if they do. It was only £3 but someone behind the bar didn’t know what they were doing and the staff member concerned was very awkward. I have written a good review before about The Lakeside Cafe but have been very disappointed recently. Firstly the gran hacienda chardonnay we always order has been changwd for another inferior wine, same price though. We asked about this and incredulously was told that they have never stocked it!!. May be I have been in a parallel unverse for years but the gran hacienda chardonnay was such a favourite of ours that we used to order it online so obviously haven't made a mistake. Also they changed the bread they always used for their tuna sandwiches to a county loaf type. Again was told that nothing had changed!! It's a case of changing something that was good for something cheaper to make bigger profits, thinking no one wlll care/notice. But if prices have gone up, we don't mind paying a bit more. We were never away from Roundhay Park and this cafe but have only visited twice this year. Profits must be down as we used to spend quite a bit in the cafe. We sent an email but this was ignored. We used to get emails to advise of events such as Christmas Dinners and other special events but this has stopped. Very disappointing.

To say this place is overpriced is a massive understatement. Also when I went to the baby change toilet to change my sons nappy it was filthy and the bins were overflowing with dirty nappies. Don’t bother with this place and take some sandwiches instead. Disgusting! And I have reviewed this cafe elsewhere and they don’t bother to respond to your comments which says it all really.... not interested in customer service.

Lovely location in the park but 20 mins queuing for a coffee! The staff appear so laid back they are nearly asleep, there is no “hustle” Food is very expensive.

While visiting Leeds for a couple of days we went for a walk in Roundhey Park, we stopped at the cafe for lunch. It is a lovel cafe with friendly staff and nice views. I am gluten free and there was lots of choice I had sandwich, chips and scone with cream and jam. Been gluten free it was a nice treat to have scones. All the food my husband and I had was delicious.

We took our 2 year old granddaughter to the park on Monday and when it started to rain we went for an unplanned lunch at The Lakeside Cafe. And how glad we were that we did! We got a window seat where the ducks and swans could easily be observed as we waited for the food, which really took no time despite being busy. Our toasted sandwiches and a serving of chips were very tasty. The ham in the sandwiches was plentiful and excellent quality. The tea was served in metal pots with accompanying hot water and fresh milk. ( Not a tea bag in a cup and milk sitting about on the side for hours as in some places!)

I visited The Lakeside Cafe today along with my husband. We have always wanted to visit the cafe. On arrival we liked the views of roundhay. The cafe was a let down as the food was average. The cakes looked really nice on the display however they were dry and tasteless. The smoked salmon bagel was a let down to. The salmon was dry there was minimal cream cheese. I feel the prices are expensive for what we got. The service was ok could have been better.

Desayuné hoy en The Lakeside.

We decided we would make a visit to Roundhay Park for a walk around the lakeside. A beautiful day, a lovely stroll around, taking in the views, sitting on a bench, taking in the lovely sun. We thought we would take in the delights of the Lakeside cafe. A bit of a disappointment for me, as suffering from really bad stomach pains and sickness over the past month, I just needed something light. When I enquirered about the possibility of having a child size portion of quiche I was informed by a not so pleasant waitress, that they didn't do half portions (why not), ordered a slice, with side salad, managed to get through the salad, but left half the quiche. Not so enjoyable. When asking later on about the raspberry and almond shortcake ((whose plate had been empty since we arrived) were they bringing some more out and the same waitress told me shrilly that they had sold out of it, so why hadn't someone removed the tray earlier. Saying that the view being sat outside was wonderful, very peaceful. The young gentleman named Adam working on drinks/ pay counter was very pleasant, a welcome change. The price of cakes etc was a bit overpriced, a scone and the shortbread was £2.80 each how much does it cost to make scones and shortbread??.not sure if we would go again in the future, all depending on timings.

The Lakeside Cafe really is doing well these days. After the kitchen fire it was closed for a major refurb and this great new Cafe rose from the ashes. New furniture, new flooring and a new feel. The menu has been augmented - still offering hot & cold meals - plus soup, sandwiches & specials. I always go for the Lakeside Salad (an assortment of poached & smoked salmon along with marie rose prawns. Always lovely but sadly where the portion size has decreased somewhat the price has increased (to £10). Note: If you like peace & quiet with your coffee & newspaper beware of school summer holidays!! Also, counter service can be slow so patience is needed. Nevertheless - the Lakeside has great location...great feel...and good food. Always a good place to go.

We ordered a mixture of sandwiches, paninis and a salad as well as drinks. You queue to order your sandwiches etc and drinks and again to pay. My prawn marie rose sandwich was ok but the side salad was below par with bits of salad leaf that had gone brown. The paninis and salad seemed better. We did have to wait quite a while for our food to be served so bear that in mind if you’re in a hurry.

A very friendly, well-patronised café in Roundhay Park - a favourite of mums & tots. Excellent menu including gluten-free options, from a coffee to a full-blown meal at reasonable price. Lovely view of the lake, outside seating area for those with dogs. Downside is it's noisy & a bit cramped.

We visited the cafe on the Friday of Leeds half term. Therefore, we were expecting it to be busy however we did expect a better experience. There didn't seem to be enough staff to cope with the half term, lunch time rush. My husband stood in the queue for a good ten minutes to order food and then to get drinks and pay. The queuing system for drinks wasn't the best idea as it resulted in it being very slow. We sat down with drinks and cakes and waited half an hour for a sandwich and panini! By the time it came we had eaten our cakes and had our drinks. Service was incredibly slow. £24 for drinks, sandwiches and cakes was expensive and the service poor. Won't be rushing back.

Visited this cafe after a walk around Roundhay Park with friends and our babies. It has been recently refurbished but didn’t really look any different! There is a good choice of food and a large selection of cakes but it is quite pricey considering it isn’t waitress service (you are basically paying for the location!). I had a club sandwich, caramel shortbread and a drink and it was about £14!! It is a large venue though and ample space for pushchairs and so it is great for Mum meet ups!

Visited yesterday, in lovely weather and surprised this place wasn't packed. Think the quality of the food has always been good, and the hot drinks. The staff are pleasant and efficient, but though the tray bakes and scones are reasonably priced, I don't understand why their sliced cakes are so highly priced. At £3.80 a portion, this seems far too high.

If you have read any of my reviews before you'll make two obvious observations...1) my grammar and spelling isn't great and 2) I am extremely price sensitive. On this visit I have my sensitivity battered to a pulp. I was meeting a friend for coffee and picked this place as I hadn't visited in a long time and it was convenient. I ordered a full breakfast...not really fully engaging with the price list I as caught light a rabbit in headlights. At £9+ I was expecting a feast..it was near to lunchtime so I went for it. It rates as the most expensive I've ever had and certainly no where near my top ten. The sausages were a bog standard variety masquerading as a quality example. One rasher of bacon and one of everything else. Except beans...you get a few beans. No hash browns. All a bit pedestrian. Service was okay. I would revisit here as the location is pleasant and an easy landmark for meeting up. But I wouldn't have the breakfast again. Cakes are okay. Coffee is hit and miss (as reflected in Asmaa177). Tea doesn't come with hot water refills. Also... if you don't like push chairs and kids it can be annoying. Avoid.

Really good Sunday lunch at the bay tree in stillington, the portions were very generous and it’s easily the best Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever had. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The prices are also very reasonable. Hopefully the fire will be on next time we go in the pub has a very cosy and relaxed vibe.
