Visited with my family for a meal last week and had a great experience, great service from Callum. Was a shame no hot drinks were available.

Sunday lunch/dinner was awful. They only had theTurkey on so no beef or pork and theTurkey looked more like a gammon steak, thick and quite tasteless. It was accompanied by a stuffing ball, roast potatoes and mash potatoes, with a homemade looking Yorkshire pudding. The accompanying veg was cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and carrots and gravy. The only condiments were mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, salt and pepper. No mustard or horseradish and no cranberry sauce!! The dinner was quite tasteless and the meat was almost unidentifiable and other than the gravy, it was not warm with the potatoes being cold. Would not recommend this establishment for food, particularly dinner. Having said that, we had the full English breakfast the day before and that was quite good so we were particularly surprised that the Sunday dinner was so poor. Very disappointed.

Terrible. Rump steak big lump of gristle. Small steak. Tough as old boots. Chicken tika with just 4 bits of chicken. Steak pie was OK. Defo needs a chef.

Have already done a review for the George but would just like to say that they sent me an email to ring them to sort out the problems. I rang a few times since last Thursday and was told Jo would ring back but of course never did. It is such a shame that a lovely old pub gets so many negative reviews. It could be a great place to stay with a little care and attention and to close the nightclub at 2 am instead of about 4 am would be good. I believe the nightclub is owned by the George!!!

Nice staff but food was the worst ever. Chips cold not cooked. Chicken curry frozen. Cold is not good. Left most of it. Make your own mind up but terrible.

Dropped in after food elsewhere. Polite staff, found seating in restaurant area. Warm enough area. Decent beers and good Shiraz. I know we where not hotel guests but I was desperate to clean your toaster sat in the room loaded with crumbs( I work in catering).

Called in today for lunch, something we have not done for many months having been regulars before COVID. A nice pub, clean & friendly staff, but not sure why there are no plain burger options. I decided to have a Mac & Cheese BBQ burger nut would have been happier without the Mac & Cheese, my husband would have prefered a plain burger too but as he doesn't like Mac & Cheese he was basically left with the hot chilli burger. I appreciate the need to a different offering to other venues but a nice simply plain burger choice or a build your own option would be a great addition.

Popped in for a spot of lunch 7/5/22 at the George Inn. Very busy, pub full of wedding guest pre wedding. Great choice on the menu. Opted for small Fish and chips with bread and butter as an add-on, also double burger with spicy nduja pork on top. Both meals came out piping hot, great taste. It's not gastro nor fine dining but neither is the price. Will definitely call in again for lunch next time in Selby. Great service by Coxy & Ning Ning.

Visited the george inn on a day visit to selby. Had several drinks at a reasonable price, staff were friendly and a great location next to the cathedral. Ordered some food which after an hour eventually came Both meals were stone cold and and steak had more grissel than meat when waiter came to take plates away asked if everything was alright we said no everything was cold and steak was terrible to which he replied would pass the message on.we waited 20 mins for someone to come over and apologise but to no avail . Extremely disappointed at the customer service or should I say lack of it.We will not be visiting again and would not recommend to any of our friends visiting the area.

Had a lovely afternoon in The George today when meeting up with family. Originally we were only having drinks but ended up buying food. We shared the sharing board between up all and what lovely food it was, the presentation on the board it is served on added to the experience. The staff were a delight to talk to and helped when choosing from the wide selection of gins. We will be back.

Last-minute lad's night out catching up with old friends and can honestly say that the staff at The George were amazing coping with us lot. Not only were they not expecting a group of guys to just turn up, but we were also not the most organised. The staff were amazing and it was nice to be able to have a laugh with them.

Came for food while at my Daughters. We entered from the front and saw the pub was quite busy. There seems to be no specific eating or just drinking area. As football was on the screens there was little room inside so we went out back in the beer garden. We ordered burgers and didn't have to wait long . Food was as good as expected no frills cheap and cheerful.. price was fair service good.. please just wipe the bird poo from the tables outside if people have to eat at them.

Visited for tea. Service absolutely terrible. Barmaid had no interest in her customers, more interested in what was going on with a colleague on the opposite side of the bar.The colleague a very surly young woman appeared to be in charge. Fair pub grub but menu did not explain offers well so we ended up paying over the odds and despite challenging said surly woman had a completely insincere apology. This is the first and last time we will visit which is a shame as it's convenient for us as Selby residents. Word of advice for the manager, teach your staff how to work in hospitality they are currently very bad

To start off we walked in and nobody helped us find a table, we eventually found one & had to clean it ourselves, wipe it down, move the glasses & the plates from the previous people. Second thing we went to the bar to order some drinks, not only was the bar staff rude, but they gave us dirty glasses, which had a lipstick mark around the rim. Third thing my boyfriend ordered an all day breakfast.. he had about 5 beans and to add onto that he had someone's finger nail in his food that has been fried with the eggs. YES DISGUSTING. We took the food back and they didn't seem 1 bit interested about the issue and just walked off. We had to ask for a refund and still didn't get offered a new plate of food. The toilets were vile, the sinks were disgusting & the waitress was one of the rudest people I have ever met in my life. Will NEVER be returning here again.

More extensive menu. Food better cooked. Prices comparable. Pub atmosphere and not like Macdonals that serves alcohol. Well behaved parents and children Older generation friendly.

This place is racked with issues, still many rumours that the club has frequent lock ins but these are, rumour has it for the drug using community. The manager - if all the rumours are true, seems to have an overly keen interest in teenage girls, the man is apparently married to a local teacher too, all very worrying.Quite a grubby interior to the place, I walked in and straight out again and that was at lunchtime, clearly not at the top of their game, not even sure the whole team turned in that day at allAvoid, you can find so much better, unless unclean, druggy and lacking in any morals is your thing!!

I had breakfast but decided it’s a good day I’m going to treat myself to a breakfast sandwich. But this was no treat. I feel compelled to let everyone know how awful it was… the sausages were definitely a couple days old at least, the mushrooms weren’t cooked and the hash brown was stale, undercooked and cold. Staff are pretty unpleasant too.

DAUGHTER DIDNT GET FOOD Absolutely discusted a member of staff can treat a 15 year old girl and her friend in this manner, she got soft drinks by 1 member of staff, then kicked out my another who was very rude. Just told my daughter she would get a refund(given no proof of this either, hopefully can track this through her app) She wasn't aware u had to be with an adult just for soft drinks and some food and wasn't explained this until just told to leave. ABSOLUTELY DISCUSTED IN SERVICE MY STAFF MEMBER, shouldn't treat anyone like that especially a child

Me and my partner had a lovely dinner in The Crown Inn. The service is good, friendly staff and definitely fair portion of delicious food. Highly recommend, will obviously back again.
