The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

Every time it has changed hands over the last 2/3 years we have hoped that it would become our 'local' again but unfortunately no-one seems to be able to get it back to the standard when Andy had it. We have been 3 times over the last couple of months but no more I'm afraid. On one occasion I had the lasagne which was a large portion but tasteless, no sign of Italian seasoning and the garlic bread was soggy as though it had just been defrosted. Another time my Partner had a burger which included pulled pork which was gristly and chewy and came with a large potion of frozen fries. It seems that large portions make up for the lack of taste and quality. The reason for 4 stars? Well you can't get frozen scampi, frozen chips and frozen peas wrong can you!

We went her last Sunday for a family get together for Sunday lunch. Lovely hone cooked food with plenty of meat. It's rare to get home cooked food to we were all very happy. The staff were warm and friendly and ill definitely be returning.

Lovely cafe , incredibly dog friendly , tasty breakfast, quick friendly service . Staff made a fuss of my dog , water bowel provided straight away without needing to ask . Thank you for a lovely breakfast this morning sat 2nd Nov .

Late afternoon in the sunshine and Leeds is very busy. North Bar is quite inconspicuous from the outside but the hoards of punters sat on the bench seats tell a different story. Mainly a craft beer bar and I'm really not a fan but fortunately they sell hundreds of different bottled beers from all over the place. The Belgian line up worth a special mention. Great atmosphere and recommended. So pleased to read that the company are now out of administration.

Tried this lovely pub for the first time earlier this week with friends for an evening meal off the weekday menu. I had Scampi which was wholetail, light batter , served with the best chips I’ve had in ages . Others had chicken and burger, all were beautifully cooked and quality ingredients. Eaton Mess was spot on and the sticky toffee and custard had us drooling ! The atmosphere was what you’d want in a lovely cosy country inn, the owners were very friendly, service friendly and quick without feeling rushed. They also accommodated our 2 large dogs offering a nice treat and water. We loved it that much we’ve just returned from Sunday lunch !! Prawn cocktail starters were excellent, more prawn than salad 👍, soup, black pudding and bacon , all served with a warm crusty roll, all were very good. 3 of us had roast beef dinners and one roast pork - the veg was cooked perfectly, as were the mash and roast potatoes. Yorkshire pudding were just right. None of us could find space for a pudding but the menu has something for everyone. We shall most definitely return again.

It’s the first time I’ve been at this pub, I’ve just experienced some great food, great service and lovely staff. Well worth a try if you’re looking for good food and ambiance.

Traditional British breakfast at an affordable price. Bacon was great. Everything else is just as what you would expect. Store prefers to take cash. They also have lots of sandwich / burger options that I would love to go back and try. Coffee could have been better and overall cleanliness of the place & utensils could also be improved.

Great country pub. Excellent food, great service, delightful staff. Very thorough Covid safety measures, yet low key so as not to spoil the ambience. Good selection of Gins and beers to keep everyone happy.

We popped in on our way past for a few drinks, they weren't doing food that evening but said we could go to the chip shop and eat them in there. The staff were very friendly and there were quite a few locals chatting, drinking and playing darts. We will be back another time for Sunday lunch.

1st visit in a long time. The place has been spruced up since my last visit and looked nice & bright. It was sunny so we sat outside with our dogs for drinks on Sat afternoon. Ended up ordering food too, great service. The food was lovely, hot, tasty & decent portions. Had the cheeseburger and fries, also fish and chips with huge, chunky chips. Really recommend 👌

Staff very welcoming and friendly visited greenman before meals always so nice but went Friday 1st November a new menu we had fish & chips half a fish teaspoon of peas we were disappointed

Great first experience of this place, good food, fantastic service from Josh and Tiff, nice welcoming atmosphere, spacious dining area in a central town location, plenty of parking available and a decent, varied menu, thanks guys will definitely call in again soon.
