The best restaurants in Yorkshire and The Humber

We were staying in Allerston whilst on holiday and booked for Sunday Lunch on 13th April. We received a very friendly welcome and shown to our table in the dining room,. which was very clean and tastefully decorated. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. We both had the roast lamb which was very juicy and tasty and the vegetables were cooked just how we like them. We will be staying in the village again next year and I told the landlady we will return - and that I will stick to one first name so as not to confuse her again when we book : )

Asked if it’s halal, got kicked out. I later found out this takeaway is not halal certified.

Great food. Need to order rice separately. Wish they didn’t use plastic boxes when eating in, that would change it to 5star.

Chill place if you want a quiet pint

Come every Thursday for feast night, for £15 it’s an absolute bargain. Food always good and consistent. Really look forward and enjoy my Thursday night out. The waiters and staff are always bang on!

Lovely Sunday lunch. Called without booking and were accommodated for lunch with no problem. Everything was perfect.

Ordered a flat white. Turned out to be half a cup of coffee and half a cup of froth. More like a cappuccino. Then half way through our drinks the waitress came for payment. Intimated that we might leave without paying. If they are afraid of that happening perhaps customers could pay at the counter when ordering. Avoids accusing customers of maybe doing a runner. Not very trusting of my wife and I

La comida aquí es excelente, así como el servicio al cliente. Sin duda recomendaría ir a comer. Fuimos a almorzar el domingo al comienzo de nuestras vacaciones en Sandsend y tuvimos un delicioso asado con todos los adornos (tuve la opción vegetariana que era muy sabroso). Fueron muy serviciales con nuestro pequeño nieto de 2 años y le hicieron su propia pequeña comida - muy amable.

Back in 2025, things have changed. More a dining place, bakery has shrunk. No more pizza. There's a more pricey menu. Nothing special but food still tasty. Think we prefer the way it was. Fresh and homely. Pizza is freshly made with right balance of tomato sauce and cheese. toastie is in fact a freshly baked ciabatta that's thick and fluffy and toasted, with generous filling of farm ham and cheese. Service is attentive and like chatting with friendly neighbour. Al fresco seating is comfortable. Wish we were not so full from the hearty portions that we had to doggy back the pizza, because there were freshly baked focaccia bread, mille feuille, cannoli, pies, tarts, and more. Definitely one of our top places to eat around Ilkley.

Visited here several times. Lovely location, taste food and desserts. No problems finding a table and service very efficient. Always a good atmosphere here. Well done to the people who run this.

Nice eggs benedicts, can tell the hollandaise is homemade. Nice staff and good prices, but cutlery not readied for food going outside, muffins weren't toasted and no rocket on either of our benedicts which it was meant to come with. Cappuccino nice but no plate with sugars etc which one would expect. Was good though and didn't have to wait long despite being busy. Would definitely go again. Blankets for outdoor seating was a welcome touch

Great breakfast at the Rose and Crown in Flamborough. I had steak and eggs and my dad had a regular breakfast. What a difference when done by a chef compared to a regular cook. Could taste the difference and the quality was excellent. Even the toast tasted better

I noticed that this has changed owners and I was worried that the standards might have changed but No omg fish cooked to order beautifully cooked to perfection with gorgeous crispy batter .chips really nice prices good for quality food friendly staff .also it now opens more hours and days than previously

Came here for a family meal and it happened to be "Pie Night" (Wednesday), what a selection of pies to choose from at a really reasonable price. Other menu options also available as well as children's portions and favourites. All our diners had nothing but praise for the meals of their choice, a wonderful evening meal enjoyed in a very nice country pub atmosphere, highly recommended by all of us, well worth a visit. And finally can I say we were all made to feel welcome by lovely accommodating, polite and friendly staff, well done to everyone who made our visit so nice.
