What can I say.. Thank you. Thank you for a wonderful day. We booked for a family afternoon tea for our Mums 80th birthday celebration & it was wonderful. The food was amazing, the place is amazing & the owners & staff are amazing. If you are think of having a small intimate experience this is the place. Would definitely recommend & will be definitely going back.

All the staff were so lovely and accommodating! Food was amazing and presentation was great. Overall would definitely go again and highly recommend

Visited several times now easy parking and very friendly happy too oblige staff. Vast menu enjoyed something different every time. FRESH FOOD EXCELLENT PRESENTATION HOME -MADE CAKES VAST SELECTION TO CHOOSE FROM. today delicious soup.

Fab Pizza night we had a margarita and a ham and mushroom with wine would highly recommend sit in or take out great food and lovely friendly owners

Lovely lunch all freshly cooked and homemade. Too full to try one of the fab cakes, but took a cookie home for later. Best cookie I've ever had. I will be returning.

The food was amazing, my hubby had sausage egg chips and bean and I had chicken Kiev. Both was served hot and delicious. The manager wad so friendly. A must try.

I ordered a lemon gluten free tiered birthday cake for a very special birthday. It was easily the most delicious GF cake I’ve ever tasted. Beautiful piping and decoration made it look as beautiful as it tasted. Thank you!

Place nice , food decent , service non existence, sat down and placed order , no probs , food came , all good , then nothing till we walked out. I got standard coffee with free refill lol , not once was i offered refill, we wanted dessert, but wasnt going to ask if they couldnt be bothered, all tables around us including ours piled with dirty plates that nobody made any effort to clear. Shame but shabby , not for me , will not return.

We had a gathering of 23 family and friends for Christmas dinner. It was without exception fantastic. The food and service. Everyone one of us came away full and happy.

We found this place courtesy of a voucher for a cream tea. Great first impression after a phone call to check they would be flexible in respect of how we used the voucher. The place is set in a lovely, quiet place - the lodges look great. Rather than a cream tea we settled for quiche salad washed down with fizz and a lump of cake with coffee and were more than happy to pay the difference. For the quality of what we had - cakes and pastries baked on site…and you can tell - the welcome and service in a lovely setting this place really is top notch. A proper salad rather than a few bits of limp lettuce and a slice of tomato. The cakes really are divine We loved it and will definitely go back.

FANTASTIC afternoon here at the Spotted Duck! I could NOT believe how amazing their gluten-free cream tea was ! The amount of trouble that they had taken to provide such a range of sandwiches, sausage roll, quiche, scone (with jam and clotted cream), let alone the top tier of cake/biscuit!! my friends cream teas were out of this world too. THOROUGHLY recommend this place - if a little off the beaten track for some !! Will definitely return again to sample something else on their menu - as there is so much to choose from.

What a lovely place for a coffee and whatever takes your fancy. We had a lovely afternoon tea. Even needed a goody box-and believe you me that’s a real rarity for us. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was so relaxing.

Over priced. Friendly enough service but not outstanding. Expected more after reading other reviews. Also, I’m sure I was wrongly charged, menu online says £21 pp, we were charged £46. Little pastry bites were stale, 1 small bucket of crisps for 2 people? Really disappointed, had better for half the price and we had drove out for this.

We went in as we were staying at Westfield Country Park. the food was unbelievable. Steak and ale pie, with real chips and peas, was a little expensive, but worth it for what you got. we will use again, if we're in the area. It's closed on a Monday and closes at 4pm the rest of the time. It is licenced

I and my family have been many times for coffee and cake to full meals . Nothing is to much trouble for them , as I’m gluten free they do all they can to accommodate me , and they do the tastiest gluten free cakes very handy as I’ve now moved closer to the area . Will be seeing you again very soon

My mum and myself were given a voucher for Christmas for afternoon tea. We picked The Spotted Duck as it had very good reviews, we were not disappointed. The table was ready with china plates and our tea was served with no waiting. We were served nice large finger sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, cheesy stars, cakes and clotted cream scones. It was all very filling and we took a box home each of things we couldn’t eat. Will definitely come again to try something off the menu ☺️

Had afternoon tea here and wow I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo it was delicious and so much food, everything tasty fresh and home made it was presented beautifully on a gorgeous stand and staff were very attentive. A real hidden gem would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

This was a treat gift card from a friend, for afternoon tea, with presseco. A young girl saw us to our table, it wasn’t clean ! Crumbs every where. We got our afternoon tea which looked nice, whilst eating a tuna sandwich I pulled a massive hair out of it ! Totally put me off eating anything else. We didn’t get any tea, when I asked about it was told if you wanted tea you could of had it, erm afternoon tea ! Really disappointed. The owners did nothing to rectify my complaint, left the young girl to deal with it.

Visited for afternoon tea today with my husband, we were early but accommodated, service was fast and polite and food was amazing . Everything on the service was tasty and fresh. Highly recommend

More than enough for us to eat. Good choice of sandwiches,quiche,sausage roll,savoury scone,plus cakes and scones with jam and cream. Lovely homemade cakes,thick ham,worth the price for the quality and plenty of tea refills. Lovely staff and environment,we will definitely go again soon,as plenty of choice for lunch on the menu too. We booked for 4 of us for Afternoon tea. When we arrived they didn't seem to expect us, nor was there a table available. Nobody came to our table for 15 minutes after we were seated and people who arrived after us were served first. We came a few weeks ago, the £14 price advertised online and what we paid recently is now £18 so this cost me £16 more than I was expecting for our group of four. Despite booking for Afternoon teas they somehow weren't prepared for this. Drinks were ages to arrive, nobody asked if we wanted more drinks, more hot water for tea that we asked for never arrived and the second lot of tea was stone cold. We had a lovely time last time we came but I didn't feel we were very well looked after today. Another couple had clearly booked for Afternoon teas, despite arriving after us they got drinks and their food before anyone had even come to our table. Prices ought to have been updated online and I don't know if we would visit again after our trip today.

It is the first time that we have visited this venue and we found it very friendly and comfortable. We had the afternoon teas and was impressed by the quality, quantity and variety of the food. As our son observed, a proper Yorkshire meal. Being gluten free, it was particularly pleasing to find such a wide range of sandwiches and cakes on the plate. Our daughter in law who is vegetarian was also very well catered for. We will certainly be visiting again and so probably be trying the hot meals which smelled delicious. Thank you to the staff.

Visited for Afternoon tea, including 1 vegan and 1 gluten free afternoon tea. Sandwiches, quiche, mini sausage rolls and mini cheese scone. Lovely selection of cakes and a scone. All food was delicious! So refreshing to go somewhere that not only caters for gluten free/vegan but the food is tasty and a you get a good selection. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend and we will certainly be visiting again. All food we saw looked good!

Visited for the first time today. We decided to sit in one of the booths. It was really cold - when other customers came in the door was not closed, I had to get up quite a lot to close the door. The door to the kitchen was open and there was a lot of noise - once we ordered and our food was being prepared the smell was really over powering - smelt of strong oil and general kitchen smells. Once we left it smelt like we had been stood in a greasy cafe. The soup, sandwich and panini that we had where in no doubt really nice. We went on to order desert...... we had read really good reviews. I don't know if we had visited on a bad day, but the apple crumble that was served had been warmed in the microwave and was like raw mush - possibly had been forgotten to be cooked in the oven? But was terrible. The cheesecake was OK- however the blob of cream on the top was sour. Maybe stood a few too many days? Overall based in the reviews that we had read I was expecting a lot better. I wouldn't rush back - if I did visit again I wouldn't order a cake or sweet and would stay well away from the kitchen area. 😔

Would highly recommend the afternoon tea. Good service and lovely food, which was beautifully presented. Plenty of savoury and sweet items. We couldn’t manage it all so they gave us cartons to take away the leftovers.

Live local but only just started to go to the spotted duck and its so good! The only problems is knowing what to have the menu is extensive and has lots of my favourite foods on there!Took my elderly parents and they thought it was wonderful.Can recommend the all day breakfast, paninis and steak pie.You have got some new regulars ladies!

Had the leek and potato soup. No way was it home made like we were led to believe, so gloopy you could have mistaken it for wall paper paste. My friend had a sausage sandwich, which had 2 sausages in it and lots of bread , very disappointed. No ice cream in the milk shake, so just flavoured milk .

Had tea here last week as a treat before the opera (Aida). Sited on a leisure/fishing park, from the outside it looks like a barn with a conservatory. Inside was a revelation - not flash at all, just a proper old fashioned tea room. Simple and spotlessly clean. The service was first rate as was the tea itself - as you would expect sandwiches/cakes and and scones. Quality was faultless.

We have been to the Spotted Duck many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Lovely setting, the food is always excellent with the staff welcoming and attentive. Well worth seeking out this gem in the East Yorkshire countyside.

I visit spotted duck at least twice a month my favourite cafe! Afternoon tea is amazing and such good value! The normal lunch menu is gorgeous and a cheeky glass of wine in the sun is perfect!!

Sandwiches with four different fillings. crusts removed and very well filled. Small sausage rolls, Salad garnish, Cakes, Scones with butter, cream and jam and a big pot of tea. A wonderful tea for two. You can also have a doggy bag to take home whatever you can't eat, as there is a lot. The food was wonderfully fresh. Tea served in china cups and saucers. The cafe itself is quaint and homely and very clean and bright. Out the way, so nice ride in the countryside. Friendly and helpful staff. Well priced. Will go again soon.

A very disappointing visit here today having been in the past several times which i have enjoyed.On arrival we were greeted with have you booked?A hello first would have been nice.The soup was rather tasteless but most of all we were not made to feel welcome.I appreciate that the cafe was fairly busy but would think twice before going back.

Visited Spotted Duck with Groupon voucher - two courses for two people for £17.00. Lovely food as always - great service even though large party in for birthday meal. My son had the bucket of fish and I had the steak and ale pie - both delicious. We shared a starter of chicken goujons and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All in all a great evening would highly recommend.

We have visited twice in the last week. Once on Saturday for an evening meal and today for the Autumn Afternoon Tea. Both visits were fantastic, the food is home made, fresh and comforting. My husband had the steak pie and can highly recommend that as he considers himself a pie connoisseur The afternoon tea was glorious and had the perfect balance of savoury and sweet. I also love that they use “proper” teapots and cups. A delightful place with fantastic food and friendly staff, what more could you ask for.

Really friendly staff in this out of the way location. Very pretty area and plenty parking. Went for lunch and while there saw what looked like lovely afternoon teas being served. The food we ordered was very good, arrived quickly and was fresh.

Just spent the afternoon with friends having afternoon tea at the Spotted Duck and I must say I was not disappointed,plenty to eat and endless tea or coffee. Looking at the menu there was a good choice of hot food and smelling the food being brought out to other tables it smelt geogous, also a nice selection of cakes to purchase from the counter to take away what more could you wish for.

We went with some friends for a update on our daily events. The meal was very good, and the venue was really nice, it mean't we could all travel together and re-unite.

I visited the Spotted Duck with 2 friends, the first time we had visited. The atmosphere was lovely, a bright, airy feel to it, but cosy too.

Our first visit here and will not be our last! Sandwiches nice and fresh, salad, savoury pastries and chutney. Cream scones then chocolate cake, I'm not a lover of it but did enjoy this one, and a lovely lemon cake. Refills of tea and coffee, husband said the coffee was very nice. Staff all very friendly and made sure you didn't want for anything. It was quiet when we visited but it was nice to sit back and relax watching the chickens outside. We have already recommended to our family. A great place to eat!

We love visiting this place time and time again. Our first visit, they had an Oreo Cheesecake. My partner became obsessed and The Spotted Duck have made more since which we manage to get pieces of most of the time. We also had a Valentines Day meal there last year which was also delicious. Not to mention every time we have dropped in for lunch.

We were on a way to spurn point, and it was 2pm and we had hungry children and spotted this road sign saying spotted duck, drove past as we missed that it was a cafe, but very pleased we turned around to double check. Headed down a narrow road and found it! We sat outside and had ploughmans (yum), kids had beans on toast, Egg and chips, and yummy hot chocolate. The staff were very friendly taking time to chat to my children when serving th ice cream. Thank very much the lunchtime stop was needed and thoroughly enjoyed.

Wow this place is amazing and well worth the trip of the beaten track if your not staying in the lodges, been a few times over the past week and every time spot on service we had a beautiful big breakfast plus a breakfast for our dog Billy (16years old labrador) that all the staff took a shine to and he thanks you very much for his breakfast and ice creams he's had over the week. Well worth a trip excellent food friendly staff nothing is too much trouble for this team of ladies, this is our 4th time here and it was perfect as always. Can't wait for the takeaway cakes for tea ❤

We visited for a girls catch and a lovely lunch. The welcome was very warm and friendly, the seating area is lovely and comfortable and well decorated. Our food was all home cooked and very tasty. We would definitely recommend a visit here.

Vergüenza de decir que comimos todo, no había comido mucho previamente, fue encantadora y luego tuvimos un paseo acompañado todo el refugios y lagos de pesca, mi marido es un entusiasta pescador! Esperamos volver y, entonces puede tener el té de nuevo!

Visitamos el pato vio recientemente y la comida era excelente, como siempre. Fuimos recibidos por Helen, que era un bonito toque. Nos sirvió de Gemma que cuidó de nosotros, servicio de primera clase como de costumbre. Gemma es una ventaja para el pato. Volveremos muy pronto, siempre es un placer visitar esta encantadora habitación de té.

Mi primera experiencia de té de la tarde, la mayoría de las cuales disfruté aunque los bollos donde un poco seca había un poco de variedad, pero yo sentía que era muy caro para lo que te daban.

Me visita aquí sobre una base regular y la comida es excelente. El personal es servicial y amable. Tuve una ensalada de pollo y una taza de té y fue genial como siempre. Siempre probar algo diferente si puedo y traeré a mi nietas para el té. Un gesto de bienvenida. No te decepcionará. Hasta pronto.

Out for a ride between Hornsea and Hedon and stopped off here for a coffee. Lovely lattes and bake well tart. would go again.

Heard about this place through streetlife so decided on a light lunch en route to Hornsea. What a pleasant surprise to find this gorgeous tea room off the beaten track. Staff were great and so was the food. Bacon an mushroom baguette for me and cheese and tomato toasties for the better half was so tasty. Will definitely be back again soon to try the afternoon teas as they looked something else. Would highly recommend this gem in the middle of holderness.

Wow what a find this place is. It came recommended. I am a walker and often come here at all times of the day after walking for long distances. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. Lovely cups of tea in quite vintage cups and teapots. The food is all cooked to order and very fresh and wholesome. I recommend this place to all my friends to stop off and have afternoon tea. This is the first time we had been here after friends had suggested it. We booked for afternoon tea and was not disappointed. On entry the staff acknowledged us straight away and offered us a couple of tables to choose from. The tea is in a pot and in China tea cups like grandma used to have:-)When the food arrived it was of a three tier set with plenary of choice for the sandwiches and desserts. Even more were brought out on separate plates. Stuff to the limit and all for £12 each.

I visited here with my grandparents, we had a lovely afternoon! The afternoon tea consisted of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and scones, with a choice of tea or coffee! It was extremely good value for money, a lovely atmosphere, the staff were very welcoming and smiley throughout! I would recommend this place 100%! The cake counter at the front of tea room has a fabulous selection of cakes and pastries to choose from also, I'd recommend the sausage rolls, carrot cake and the chocolate brownies... Yummy!!

It was the first time I had been to the Spotted Duck today and I was blown away by what a lovely place this is. The afternoon tea was delicious, the staff all friendly and helpful and the surroundings lovely. I couldn't believe such a place existed in Fitling which I always thought of as the back of beyond :)

Had a fabulous afternoon tea at the Spotted DuckGreat choice of sandwiches, savouries, salad. Cakes and scones.I loved the sweet potato crisps.A big plus for me was the large teapot,didn't have to keep asking for water. It was a really good cuppa.It was that good I will be there again tomorrow. We were served by a very friendly lady called Jemma, she looked after us really well.

Have been to The Spotted Duck for lunch and now tried the afternoon tea. Each visit has been lovely! Friendly staff from walking in and such a pleasant place to eat with a warm atmosphere and pretty decor. We visited as a group of four and all thoroughly enjoyed the selection of sandwiches and various bites along with a small salad garnish beautifully presented next to cakes and fresh cream scones with jam.....delicious! We've already agreed on our next visit.and cakes and my favourite the fresh cream scone .....yummy!

We have been visiting the Spotted Duck tearoom regularly for two years. We tried the new design afternoon tea today, which is on a special offer price at the moment. It was fabulous, really nice cakes and good presentation. All the staff are always helpful, efficient, enthusiastic and pleasant. We were served by the lovely Gemma, who always looks after us. We are returning again next week and are looking forward to that. We sometimes visit on a Saturday tea time as the early evening meals are good also. I would highly recommend the Spotted Duck.

The Spotted Duck's food is one of the best I've ever tasted! They have a children's menu and an adults. They open at lunch and close on a night. It's a beautiful area. The food portions are perfect. On Sunday's they do roast dinners. They offer a range of food, including vegetarian options. I would recommend this to all.

What a lovely tea shop, afternoon tea with 3 friends and a nice glass of wine ,one of the nicest afternoon teas I have had with really nice staff who could not do enough for us

My husband and I visited one Friday teatime (6pm) with a Groupon voucher for a 2 course meal for 2 people. There have been mixed reviews recently for this place so I was a bit apprehensive - but we were not disappointed. It was almost empty (two other couples, who ate and left whilst we were still there), so the atmosphere was lacking - there seemed to be a radio on in the kitchen, so some nice background music would be a welcome touch in the large conservatory/eating area. The place is nicely decorated, the facilities very clean, and the staff friendly and helpful. We chose garlic mushrooms and prawn cocktail to start - both of which were generous portions and very tasty (lots of meaty prawns!) - and we both had chicken in pesto, wine and mushroom sauce for main course, served with chips and veg. I asked for more veg and a smaller portion of chips - this was no problem, and whilst there were still too many for me, they were very good - and the vegetables (carrots, cauli and broccoli) were fresh and perfectly cooked, with still a slight bite to them. The sauce was a bit thick and placed on top of the chicken, so the rest of the plate was a bit dry, but it was very tasty. We had no room for pud, but the cakes on display looked delicious - so an afternoon trip might very well be on the agenda!

We purchased a groupon voucher for an afternoon tea for 4 and on arrival we were served a nice afternoon tea. The sandwiches lacked a little, cheese was a thin cheese slice and not much filling in the ham, tuna and egg, which came as standard. However for the price we paid it was still worth it, the volume of food was plenty for 4 people and the cakes were lovely. I guess if paying full price you would have a choice of sandwiches which would be better, but again for the groupon price we paid it was very good. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we would definitely visit again when in the area.

I was so looking forward to my visit here for afternoon tea with my family, and although staff were extremely pleasant, afternoon tea was really let down by the sandwiches, plastic cheese, lack of filling in the tuna and ham, they were so tasteless.Cakes were ok.

We had an 'afternoon tea for two' gift voucher as a Christmas present and we picked the Spotted Duck as it wasn't too far away from home.It was an interesting trip there, thank goodness for sat nav, as other reviewers have said it was not easy to find but it was certainly worth it.Our Afternoon Tea was lovely, a good choice of sandwich fillings, pork pie, sausage roll, pickle and salad followed by lemon drizzle cake and super chocolate brownie and then scones and jam and cream, all washed down by a lovely cuppa. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.Service was excellent, surroundings were clean and pretty.As it was such a beautiful day we then wandered round the lake, looked at the new lodges and enjoyed the sunshine.Lovely food and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We would recommend it.

On the advice of a couple of friends we decided to visit the Spotted Duck on the way back from the seaside with the grandchildren.We arrived about 5 o'clock & was told that the sandwiches had finished & it was the evening menu.Unfortunately our friends hadn't told us of the early start of the evening menu but nevermind we stayed.I chose the pie which was dry & the gravy was very bland & obviously from a packet.Most of the vegetables were hard & unseasoned.The wife had the homemade burger which again was very dry & a strange colour.Not sure if we'd go back to try the sandwiches.

We called in on the off chance for a lunch and managed to get a table.We had very nice sandwiches, cheese and onion and prawn, with a side salad and some crisps.It was actually quite filling. Service was excellent as was the pot of tea.A lovely place well worth a visit.

Called in for lunch as it has been a long time since our last visit as not that good. I now remember why We haven't been back earlier.We ordered coronation chicken sandwiches and the lady very kindly offered these without sultanas - much appreciated. However we ordered coronation chicken not curry powder with chicken on dry bread with no butter with what seemed like a pinch of mayonnaise. The crisps offered where cheap nachos with no taste at all. The side salad offered with the sandwich was great. No ice in any of the drinks, although one was a tap water ice would of been nice, as it was a warm day.The tuna melt was fine but definitely had better for a lesser price.Having left most of the bread the waitress did not ask if everything was OK, she just cleared the plates, we asked for the bill, this arrived without a smile, plus 3 mints. We paid and left.Very disappointed once again.

My husband was bought a Groupon voucher for an evening meal at the Spotted Duck at the Westfield Country Park and, although we don't live far away, we haven't been there before. Some days later we found it to be a charming vintage tea room with lovely old fashioned crockery (and very nice wine). The meal was beautifully cooked and well presented and the staff were attentive and very pleasant. We could see that the afternoon teas on the menu were a glory to behold and we must go back and try them. Fitling is a little out of the way but well worth the effort of looking for it. If it is afternoon tea you want then booking is required if you want the full Monty!
